Mock Draft: Kansas City
Every day/week I will be doing a mock draft, for every team and so because Kansas City is my favorite team, they go first.
Main needs SS/FS/NT/WR//C/TE/CB/LB and with 8 picks and 8 holes I think we could fix this disaster.
Round 1 Eric Berry: With Kansas City ranking 30th in pass defense. They choose a dominate safety, who could possibly be the next Ed Reed and has loads of potential. 5-11 203 pounds SS Tennessee NFL comparison Ed Reed Ravens safety 40 4.40. Stats 83 tackles 2 interceptions.
Round 2 Terrance Cody: Cody gives KC a huge run blocking beast, who could solidify the middle of the trenches. One of my problems with Cody is his weight issues if he can get that down and has a decent Senior Bowl and Combine I think we snag him. 6-5 350 NT Alabama NFL comparison Ted Washington Ex NFL player 40 5.72. Stats
28 tackles
Round 2 Reshad Jones: Already with a run stuffer and a Ed Reed clone, and now a play making safety. This would make us a fierce team down field and would make all of the AFC West quarterbacks think twice about throwing the ball down the field. 6-2 212 pounds FS Georgia NFL comparison Nick Collins FS Green Bay 40 4.58. Stats 61 tackles 1 forced fumble 4 interceptions.
Round 3 J.D Walton: J.D is a tough kid who managed to handle the beast Suh to only 5 tackles and 1 sack when they played each other. Another one of the things I like of this kid is his foot work and strength to maintain blocks. 6-3 305 pounds C Baylor NFL comparison Jeff Saturday 40 5.19. Stats none
Round 4 Perish Cox: Cox is a tremendous kick returner and punt returner who would take the job from Quieten Lawrence and Bobby Wade, where Lawrence can barely take it to the 20 yard line and Bobby just fair catches it. And did I mention Perish was the best punt returner in the big 12 and is a solid corner who can play left or right side and maybe nickel. 6-1 185 pounds CB/NB Oklahoma State NFL comparison Justin Miller 40 4.44. Stats 36 tackles 4 interceptions 1 kick return touchdown.
Round 5 Charles Scott: Scott is a big bruiser back who is a little short at 6-0 for a power back, but don't underestimate this kid, he has superstar potential and would help Jamal out with his injury prone shoulder and elbow. 6-0 234 pounds RB LSU NFL comparison Cedric Benson(without the legal problems) 40 4.60. Stats 116 carries for 542 yards averaging 4.7 yards per carry and 4 touchdowns.
Round 5 Marcus Easley: Marcus is a big receiver at 6-3 with soft hands and has really been a huge threat for the Huskies. One of Easleys with big things is the way he runs his routes with only moderate speed he uses his arms and hips to break lose of shutdown corners. 6-3 212 pounds NFL comparison Antonio Bryant 40 4.40. Stats 48 catches for 893 yards 8 touchdowns averaging 18.7 yards per carry.
Round 5 Colin Peek: This kid is one of the most underrated players in college football, after seeing his touchdown in the SEC Championship game I thought this kid was a total beast. Has good concentration and hands too bring down any ball that comes his way reminds me of raw Jeremy Shockey. NFL comparison Jeremy Schockey 40 4.84. Stats 26 catches for 313 yards with 3 touchdowns.
Extra picks
Miami 5th: For Tyler Thigpen
Carolina 5th: For Tank Tyler
Atlanta 2nd: For Tony Gonzalez
Possibly a trade comming?
I think there might be a trade, between KC and New England KC gives up are 2 seconds for Vince Wilfork and Adalius Thomas. This would be a great trade for both teams and would make Romeo Crennel(soon to be D coordinator) and Scott Pioli happy. This is just something I would like too happen, there is not rumors about this trade.
7 Round Mock Draft Update (not JP 23s/ the founder)

Alabama Star Rolando McClain Daclared For The NFL Draft
another player I would love for KC to draft.
Represent your team my version
I recently saw J P 23s, post about doing a 7 round mock draft and I saw that my team the chiefs, where taken so I decided to do one of my own, for the fans who had missed out. So I have the Chiefs and every other 31 teams is available. Im pretty lazy so JP 23 im just going to copy and paste your rules.
1- You must be an active member of this site AND a member of your teams SBnation site.
2- You MUST be a fan of the team you are representing. No sabotaging other teams selections.... Unless it's the Jets. LOL. I'm just kidding Jets fans.
3- You must have an email address and be able to check your emails daily. It doesn't mean I'm going to email you everyday, but if I send you an email letting you know that you're on the clock, you should be able to write me back by the end of the day.
The mock draft will begin on January 16th , after all Juniors have finished declaring for the NFL draft. On that day, whoever is representing the Rams will officially be on the clock. After that is the Lions, Bucs, so on and so on until all 7 rounds are completed. When its finished I will post up the entire 7 round mock on this site for everyone else to see. There is not timetable for completion. However, the sooner the better so that we can maybe start a brand new one. So please, make sure you read your emails so than we can get this done quickly.
The Draft Method: I will send you an email letting you know that you are on the clock with the list of selections already made. you will email me back your selection with a small description of why you made you're selection.
Example:
the face of the franchise, You're on the clock!
Round 1:
1-
2-
3-
and so on.... until completion.
Note: When you're on the clock, you can always write a post on this site so that others may help you out.
As you can see, there has already been a lot of interest generated from people who would like to participate. But, there are still a few teams available. If you're team has not been chosen, feel free to email me (M) or just post a comment in this thread with your email address and the team you wish to represent. EMAIL IS MiguelUrriola@aol.com.

Joe Haden Declared For The NFL Draft
Could he be a Chief?
Are We Out Of The Race For Eric Berry?
Are we out of the race for Eric Berry? I think so because with the Saint Louis Rams needs defensive line help, there most likely taking Suh. The Lions are going to either take Berry, Okung, Gerald McCoy. The Bucs could take Berry, Okung, McCoy too. Washington will most likely take Okung or Sam Bradford. And after that it levees the lonely chiefs who will most likely have no chance at Berry, so the next discussion begins, who do we draft with Berry and Okung off the board and McClain most likely staying for his senior season, I say we take one of the these three prospects Dez Bryant, Joe Hayden, Trent Williams. Or trade are pick to another team like Cleavland, who would most likely want are pick. So after the win yesterday it makes me wonder did winning against the donkeys hurt us or help us. The only way we have a legitimate chance at Berry is if he has a bad combine. So the race is one for the future Ed Reed.
Free Agency + Mock Draft
http://www.forbes.com/lists/2008/30/sportsmoney_nfl08_NFL-Team-Valuations_Revenue_2.html
Forbes shows we are the 17th most wealthiest franchise so that's gives us cash to sign some free agents.
Free Agency (All free agents unrestricted under new CBA)
Stephen Neal OG Patriots: I know he plays left guard, but he could still make the transition to right guard or move Waters over to center or right guard.
Kevin Walter WR Houston: Has soft hands, runs crisp routes, and would be excellent in the slot or as a starting receiver.
Casey Hampton NT Steelers: Casey is a solid veteran who can still push the pocket, the only thing wrong with this situations is he is making 4 million this year so if you could sign him to a 1 year 2 mill or a 2 year 4 mill.
Mock Draft
Round 1 Eric Berry SS Tennessee: I was thinking about putting Okung, but with the emergence of Albert, and Okungs poor play in the bowl game. I think the Chiefs go with a play making safety who could be the best Safety in Chiefs history.
Round 2 Donovan Warren CB Michigan: With this pick we solidify the secondary, and make offensives one-dimensional by making them think twice about throwing into a secondary that has Warren,Carr,Berry,Flowers.
Round 2 Sean Lee MLB/OLB Pen State: Is a good rusher, and maybe the best tackler in the draft. This pick would make it so we wouldn't have to put Mays as are starting MLB. Or Sean could start outside and take Vrabels spot.
Round 3 Matt Tenant C Boston College: Has good strength and footwork and has good snaps, would be a good upgrade over Rudy Niswanger.
Round 4 Kyle Calloway OT Iowa: Is a beast blocking for the run and uses his long arms in run and pass protection to block speed and bull rushers.
Round 5 Javarris James RB Miami: Is a big bruiser who could take some of the load off of Jamal Charles.
Round 5 Taylor Price WR Ohio:
Round 5 Al Woods NT LSU: Is a big athletic body with a solid set of pass rush moves. And who is still raw but could develop into something special.
NFL MOCK DRAFT 1-10
1 Rams: Ndamukong Suh DT/DE Nebraska
With the Rams currently developing Kieth Null, they chose a beast who can play end or tackle. And who is being compared to the likes of Warren Sapp.
2 Lions: Eric Berry SS/FS Tennessee
With a Offensive line that can be fixed in the later rounds, they opt to go the secondary that is young and upcoming.
3 Chiefs: Terrance Cody NT/DT Alabama
Scott Pioli did it again he always takes need over talent and gives KC a bug body to plug the run.
4 Tampa Bay: Russell Okung OT/OG Oklahoma State
With Josh Freemen as there Franchise quarterback, they take Okung to solidify the offensive line.
5 Redskins: Jimmy Clausen QB Notre Dame
With a new GM and most likely a new head coach, they go QB to rebuild this franchise.
6 Browns: Dez Bryant WR Oklahoma State
You cant blame Quinn and Anderson when there starting receivers are Chansi Stuckey and Brian Robiskie. So they chose a play-maker who can remind them of Braylon Edwards.
7 Seahawks: Trent Williams OT Oklahoma
With Walter Jones old injury prone body, they sign Trent Williams who could play right tackle and then next year they draft a left tackle whenever Walter retires.
8 Bills: Sam Bradford QB Oklahoma
Same thing as the redskins they have a new coach and a new GM so they draft a QB.
9 Raiders: Gerald McCoy DT Oklahoma
The Raiders need desprate help in run defense, so they draft McCoy.
10 Broncos: Rolando McClain MLB/OLB
just thinka linebacker core, with DJ Williams and Rolando McClain.
Comment on your thoughts!
Could the chiefs be in a trade with the Cowboys?
With the chiefs picking 3rd in this years draft, if you read the Eric Berry, section you see that the Cowboys were scouting Eric Berry, and that makes me think why are they scouting Berry when they are most likely picking in the 20s, so that makes me think would they give up there two 2 round picks or a first and a second pick for Berry. This would be good for both sides because that would give us either 2 second round picks or 3 second round picks, also the Texans or the Seahawks could make a trade with us or Tampa Bay.
5 Free Agents KC Can Sign In This Economy
Yeah I know its going to be a uncapped off -season, but still that doesn't mean we can't sign free agents so heres my list.
1 Gabe Watson NT 6-4 26 329 Arizona: Is the backup for the Cardinals and would be a cheap option to start over Ron Edwards. The other bright side to signing him is he is only making $449,120 this year so I say we pay him 500,000. Stats 27 tackles.
2 Nick Cole 6'0 350 25 C/G Eagles: This would be an excellent pickup for the Chiefs, he can play Center or Right Guard. Just like Gabe Watson he is only making $449,440 so just like Gabe give him a 500,000 salary. Stats Games 15 Games started 15 1 sack allowed.
3 Josh Reed 5'10 210 Lbs 29 WR Buffalo: Runs crisp routes has soft hands and would be a good situational receiver. His 2009 salary is $2,500,000 so I would pay him maybe 2,700,000. Stats 27 catches 291 yards with 1 touchdown.
4 Matt Roth 6'4 275 pounds 27 OLB Browns: Would be a force to reckon with opposite Hali. 2009 salary 600,000 so because hes playing so good this season I would pay him 1,000,000. Stats 4 sacks and 27 tackles.
5 Mark Roman 5'11 205 32 SS 49ERS: Is a solid tackling veteran who would be a nice safety opposite Eric Berry if we draft him. Salary 825,000 I would pay him 920,000. Stats 50 tackles, 1 forced fumble, 1 pick, 1 sack.
Anyone of these cheap free agents could be good pickups.
Eric Berry Declares To Go Pro
Lets just say he is going to be a chief.
Kansas City Mock Draft 2.0
After basically a horrible 2009, here is the main holes SS/WR/C/G/TE/LB/NT/CB/OLB
Round 1 Eric Berry SS/FS Tennessee : Is a ball hawking safety like Ed Reed, and can make all the plays and can make the tackles unlike Mike Brown. This would make a AFC West with guys like Kyle Orton and Philip Rivers recognize were not playing anymore.
Round 2 Brandon LaFell WR LSU: Gives us a huge threat on third down, where we suck the most. One of the big assets of LaFells game is he has soft hands runs crisp routes and can play the slot and play starting receiver.
Round 2 Eric Norwood: Reminds me of a younger version of Mike Vrabel, is a blitz expert, with his hands on the ground or standing up is a complete beast and a steal.
Round 3 Matt Tenant C Boston College: Has solid strength too hold back nose tackles like Jamal Williams and Rodney Fields. Another asset to is game is he is a blue collar hard worker who reminds me of Matt Birk.
Round 4(Trade DJ to the Eagles) Vince Oghobaase NT Duke: is a solid run blocker, he weighs 310 pounds could beef up a little more and be a solid nose tackle.
Round 4 Micah Johnson LB Kentucky: is a complete beast in the run game and wound be a force for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Round 5 Kenny Alfred C/G Washington State: He can play either C or Guard and has good footwork and hands could one day develop in to a Logan Mankins.
Round 5 Walter Thurmond CB/FS Oregon: Is the heart and sole for the Ducks and would have been a first round pick last year if not his injury's that derailed his season.
Round 5 Jeron Mastrud TE Kansas State: Is a solid blocker and has soft hands to make all the catches. He could go anywhere from the 3rd to the 6th.
So I covered every main problem TE/CB/C/G/LB/OLB/WR/SS.
Was Herm Edwards A good coach?
Was Herm Edwards a good coach? I think so, if you think about it, him and Carl set us up for the feature, drafting key pieces for the future like Glenn Dorsey, Albert, Flowers, Carr, Bowe. All of these guys are going to be the stars of this franchise. So with that in mind it looks like Herm did a good job, so one year later we're a few pieces away from making it to the playoffs. Another thing to think about is they never signed high price free agents so now Scott Pioli can sign high priced guys with 50 million in cap room. So I think its the right thing to do is give Herm some credit for what he did.

Cap room update, we will have 59 million, at the end of the season so lets just say someone big is coming to town.
Kansas City Chiefs Mock Draft
So right now where in position to draft 5th. So heres my mock.
Extra Picks
5th from Miami for Tyler Thigpen
5th Tank Tyler to Carolina
Lost Picks
6th and 7th to Miami for Induke and Andy Allemen.
1 Eric Berry SS Tennessee: One of Kansas City's problems this year is there lack of play makers, and Berry is a Ed Reed clone.
2 Terrence Cody NT Alabama: The main reason for KC's horrible run defense, is theres no huge nose tackle to plug the middle, and Cody gives them a huge machine in the middle.
2 Matt Tenant C Boston College: KC has fixed the Right Guard position, with Wade Smith but current center Rudy Niswanger just doesn't have the upper body strength to hold back defensive linemen and Matt Tenant gives us a solid center to anchor this line for years to come.
3 Dez Briscoe WR Kansas: With KC the worst 3rd down team in the NFL, Dez gives a guy who runs crisp routes and has hands like Glue.
4 Stevenson Sylvester OLB Utah: Kansas City's pass rush has dramatically improved from last year, and I expect us to keep adding pass rush specialists, and at 212 pounds Stevenson is like lighting off the edge.
5 Brian Jackson CB Oklahoma: Adds depth to a young and up and coming secondary.
5 Adam Ulatoski OT Texas: Adds Depth to the offensive line. And if he improves all around he could challenge Ryan O' Callaghan for the starting gig.
5 Brandon James RB Florida: Gives us two speedy runners with Charles and James, are running game is a threat to take it to the pylon every play.
After seeing all this nose tackle talk, I deiced to look it up on Wikipedia and heres what I found.
In a 3-4 defensive scheme, the nose tackle is the sole defensive tackle, lining up directly opposite the center in the "0-technique" position. Like the traditional 4-3, the nose tackle must occupy the center and one guard, typically the weakside guard. One defensive end then matches up with both the strongside tackle and/or strongside guard, while the other has a 1-on-1 matchup with weakside tackle. This leaves the outside linebackers free to pass-rush, creating the 3-4 scheme's distinctive pressure on the passing game.
In order for a 3-4 to be effective, it needs a force of nature at nose tackle, which is very hard to find. Ted Washington, who in his prime weighted as much as 375 pounds, is considered the prototypical 3-4 nose tackle of this era.[1] Jerry Ball was also a highly successful nose tackle, making multiple pro bowl appearances and even registering 32 career sacks. Dillion Dennis Wikipedia. After reading this the player that looks to fit this position, is Terrence Cody at 350 pounds.
Grading The Offense Line
Today I am going to grade the offense line. First I will start off with Tackle, Guards, Centers.
Tackles
Brandon Albert LT: So far this season Brandon has started every game (10 starts 10 games). He has given up 6 penalties for 45 yards, but his down side is that he has given up 9 sacks for 95 yards so his grade will be B-.
Ryan O' Callaghan RT: He has been stellar on the right side, this season so far starting 9 games after being claimed off the waiver wire this season. showing amazing production only giving up 3 sacks for 15 yards with 2 penalties for 10 yards his grade is a A+.
Brian Waters LG A savvy veteran who holds his ground. Hes started 12 out of 12 games this season, only giving up a 1 1/2 sacks this season, but has given up way to many penalties with 7 for 54 yards. So his grade is a B+.
RG: to many unproven starters
C Rudy Niswanger his having a not so good year giving up 1 1/2 sacks this season, and has had some horrible snaps. But he has 3 penalties for 20 yards. So his grade is C+.
So after all these grades and stats it shows that we need an upgrade at center. I think where good with Wade Smith at right guard because last game at Denver he played pretty sharp for his first start there this season. So some possible replacements would be Kris O' Dowd or Matt Tenant or any start able free agent. So as a group I give this offensive line a B-.
