The "deadline" they've "set" is the 28th. Ricciardi also says deal is unlikely. I wonder if they're trying to scare someone into overwhelming them with a package of prospects.

Swindle optioned to AAA.

It's been 15 years since his stint in baseball, and he still hasn't forgiven Sports Illustrated for one of their covers. I still argue that he didn't have an absolutely horrid year like is commonly believed. It was essentially his rookie year, and he spent it in one of the hardest levels of the minors...AA. And while he was there, he did manage to steal 30 bases in 48 attempts, and collect 50+ RBIs and 50+ walks. Not bad for a guy with a 6' 6" frame (the steals and the walks anyway). His fielding was dreadful though.

Looks like he at least has an option for the 2nd year that he wanted...and the Brewers get a comp pick. Everyone wins!

At least it's a low risk minor league deal.
