I have really been looking at other mock drafts and analyzing expert opinions on what the Chargers might draft in the 11th spot. If you were watching John Gennaro's live stream, we discussed many holes in the Chargers roster and boy do they!

Round 1:

The Chargers can go many ways here but I expect Tom Telesco to choose the player that he believes will help the team most at the end of the day. In John's Podcast, he was asking why they haven't cut Gaither? Well Gaither is really good when he's healthy and that's why A.J. Smith gave him a hefty contract. But, Chargers can never go wrong with another left tackle, especially with an amazing upside in Lane Johnson. But if Johnson isn't there then the Chargers are forced to pick the next best player. I really like Jarvis Jones out of Georgia because of his rushing the QB talent and if it wasn't for his diagnosis of spinal stenosis he would defenitely be a top 5 pick. Although he had a disappointing pro day, I believe he would be the best player if available at the 11th spot. Chargers are also in need for a defensive tackle and this year's draft has many talented ones. If Shariff Floyd is available, that would be HUGE! But Chargers could also go with Star Lotulelei out of Utah. Star is stout against the run and would become an anchor in already young and talented Chargers D-Line.

ROUND 1 PICK: Jarvis Jones, OLB, Georgia/ Lane Johnson, OT, Oklahoma/ Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah/ Shariff Floyd, DT, Florida

Round 2:

Chargers have a hole at the Mike Linebaccker position and will have a chance to fill it in the second round. They also have a hole at strong safety and even though it may block Brandon Taylor, the guy is coming off a really bad injury! Let him take all the time he needs so he can get to his 100 %. I'm kinda hoping Manti Teo slips to the second. But in the strong safety position I reslly would want Matt Elam. He is a big hitter and has impressed scouts so far. Chargers can also fill a hole in the guard spot with Larry Warford, he is a really good pass protector and could help the O-Line situation.

ROUND 2 PICK: Larry Warford, OG, Kentucky/ Manti Teo, MLB, Notre Dame/ Matt Elam, SS, Florida

Fresh New Mock Draft "Rounds 1-3"

In my last two mock drafts I kind of noticed that they are ..... really bad. So I actually took some time on evaluating these picks and which picks the Chargers need the most.

With the first round pick the Chargers really need to establish some sort of stability on the line. With out a good offensive line Rivers will not be able to get back to his previous "elite" status. I've been looking around and Eric Fisher, the LT out of Central Michigan, has really turned some heads in the Senior Bowl so far and has challenged other prospects for the title of best offensive tackle. It took me a while to get comfortable with this pick but it is an excellent choice and Fisher has the potential to be a premier pass protector. So honestly, I think Chargers could score big with him.

Round 1 Pick: Eric Fisher, LT, Central Michigan

With the second round choice Chargers could land a DB which can potentially become a starter for the team. I almost wanted to go with a safety like an Eric Reid or Kenny Vacarro but Chargers have bigger needs and those two might not even end up on the board. With Xavier Rhodes likely selected earlier, one of the next best prospects is Jordan Poyer. He has the talent to be a great CB and will probably rise up the draft boards.

Round 2 Pick: Jordan Poyer, CB, Oregon State

With the third round pick Chargers still have some options. But how about take a chance with Tyrann Mathieu ..... or not. I honestly hope he is still there in the fourth round and the Chargers will be able to swoop him up but the Chargers need a middle linebacker to succeed Takeo Spikes. Nico Johnson comes from an Alabama defense which is NFL ready

Chargers Mock Draft V 1.0 Rounds 1-3

Last Season was a disappointment for many Charger fans including myself. But, one upside that can potentially come from this season is our reasonably high draft pick in the first round. Last draft Chargers had a pretty strong run in the first and second rounds bringing in Melvin Ingram and Kendall Reyes.

Teams biggest needs: OL, CB, WR

1st Round: Offensive line should be our first priority going into the draft because it doesn't get any worse than it did last season and in order for Rivers to prosper, he needs protection. Top prospect Luke Joeckel,the offensive tackle for Texas A&M, is probably going to be a top 5 pick. In this case, I'm really hoping for another quality tackle to be available such as Taylor Lewan, the offensive tackle out of Michigan will be available.

Final Pick: Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan

2nd Round: In the second round the Chargers can fill another need. Good wide reciever and cornerback talent can be found in the second round but overall, I think the Chargers pick the next best prospect at wide reciever because Rivers needs all the help he can get.

Final pick: Robert Woods, WR, USC

3rd Round: Chargers can still find a valuable cornerback at this spot and I think they will. Quentin Jammer is 33 and will be a free agent this offseason. Even if Chargers re-sign Jammer, you can't change his age. So I think Chargers will get a solid pick.

Final Pick: Desmond Trufant, CB, Washington

I am going to continue rounds 4-7 another time.
