Adrian Gonzalez - Questions from a Padre Fan
Congratulations on landing Strasburg. Was a pleasure to watch him excel this year at SDSU. I am not going to lie, I was hoping you could not get a deal done. Sorry about that :) We(The Padres) are currently in a pickle in that we don't want to spend money, seems like we never do. After hiring the young Jed Hoyer away from Boston, talk around town is that Adrian Gonzalez may be traded. Consecutive gold glove wins over Albert Pujols, went for 40HR & his BB numbers were astounding. What value does he have to the Nationals? Because I really would hate to see him moved to a team like the Red Sox or ugh Mets.
What do you think the chances are the Padres could put a package together to send A-Gonz to DC & send Strasburg back home. If you noticed last year, the Padres have them self quite a young pitching talent in Mat Latos - Not Strasburg type of course but a talented young player none the less. Padres are also trying to rid themselfs of the towering Chris Young, who has proven when healthy to be a hell of a pitcher. So let me ask you, do you think the Padres got the stuff to put a package together to bring Strasburg back home?
Rubio trying to send a message?..
As some already know Ricky Rubio the Über talented young Spanish Point Guard. Known for his knowledge of the game & defense, recently signed with Real Madrid. Drafted 5th overall in the 2009 NBA draft by the Minnesota T'Wolves. Let me ask you a question. Who are the two biggest names in the history of the Real Madrid Basketball team? Arvydas Sabonis(Blazer) & Dražen Petrović(Blazer) Among the teams he mentioned that he would like to be a part of pre draft(in the midst of many big market teams) was Portland. Playing along side his countryman, knows this team needs a PG... Rumors were flying about Pritchard attempting to move up, for the Wizards #5 pick(Costed the T'Wolves Mike Miller & Randy Foye, talent I believe the Blazers could matched or exceeded). Numerous times by the Blazers staff they have mentioned that Rubio has been on their radar for years. It is quite scary to think how far ahead he is, compared to Tony Parker when he came over from France. What do you think it would cost the Blazers to acquire the rights to Ricky? I have a feeling Przybilla going back to his home-state would be involved as their backup pivotman.
What a wonderful day at the Portland Antique Show, at the Expo center. I was meandering the rows, looking for Blazers merchandise as I do every year. Leaned up against a wall in the back, I I found the latest addition to my collection.
Feast your eyes on a Limited Edition Sabas Rookie Poster, framed. For ONLY 10 $ I was truly excited, it is already hung up on my wall. Tell me your thoughts on it & since its the off-season feel free to reminisce about classic Sabonis moments.
Question about the Spaniards...............
Take a look at what Pau Gasol looked like as a rookie... http://www.nba.com/media/gasol1_627.jpg(For some reason I can't link 3+ photo's on Blazers edge) Now look at him... I mean, Rudy already has a pretty decent beard. What is he going to look like, when he is 30+?
The "Icing On The Cake" Revealed
Pritchard was planning something big, something that will use our free cap space this year. It appears Turkoglu is going to get signed, by the Blazers. But is he going to play for the Blazers? I am wondering to my self, how much of a better fit would The Matrix be ? He looked much better in Toronto then Miami. His per game average has some pretty good company .(Kersey, KG, Nance)
Seeking records of team pace info
I would like to see the average stats of players on the teams that are historically slow like ours. Anyone know where I can find that?
Warren Moon Celebrity Bowling Event(Oden's been gambling)
This weekend was the Warren Moon Celevrity Bowling Event in Las Vegas. The event raised money for scholarships for kids who dont have the chance to go. Friday there was a recption and interviews, saturday was the event then after party. There was alot of celebrities there i had a great time plus it was my first time in Vegas since ive been 21. I didnt lose too much money but im not gonna lie i really like blackjack. Im very thankful to Warren Moon for inviting me to the event. Barkley was another big man who gambles & he had a nice career(probably didn't have the surrounding talent Oden does)...
The Real PG Of The Future
Jamelle McMillan SUN DEVIL DATA:Pure point guard who improved who progressed last year and made some big shots down the stretch, as you will see in other's bios that "best clutch shot" is answered by a few as Jamelle's left-handed drive in Tucson. With just over two minutes to play and the shot clock winding down and ASU leading by six, McMillan drove the lane and used the hoops as a protector to give ASU an eight-point lead (57-49) that would be the last field goal ASU would score in its come-from-behind win at Tucson on Feb. 11, marking ASU's first sweep of the Wildcats since 1995. Had a great summer experience, as he spent 16 days with Team USA in China as dad Nate was an assistant coach. One of the top point guard recruits on the west coast from last year who led his high school team to three state titles (2007, 2005 and 2004) in his four years and gained a reputation as a great lockdown defender and a terrific distributor. Once scored 64 points in Boys & Girls Club game...okay, it was second grade, but you get the feeling of how long he has been around the game. Played high school hoops in the talent-rich Seattle area and his team won more than 100 games in his four years. Last summer, in its "Best of the Pac-10" with regards to recruiting classes, Rivals.com gave McMillan its best defender award. He is the son of former NBA player and current Portland Trail Blazer head coach Nate McMillan and was ranked as the top point guard on the west coast by Rivals.com and was No. 99 overall player by Scout.com heading into last year.
The Case For Ron-Ron
In this post I am going to be making my case for the Blazers to sign Ron Artest. Rather then other 10 million dollar options, like Andre Miller, Kirk Hinrich or Hedo Turkoglu.

Blazers PG's - Realistic Options & Expectations
The question we have all been wondering since the core of Roy, Aldridge, Oden(Now Batum) has been assembled. What is the final piece of our pentagon of starters? The Point Guard. So many types of players fit into this one position. You have the pure PG(Chris Paul), the combo guard(Devin Harris) & the defender(Kirk Hinrich). McMillan prefers taller/stronger PG's(Preferably 6'5"), with a sharp mind & great defense. He essentially wants someone with the same body type he had as a player & commitment on the defensive end, but perhaps with the scoring ability of his all-star peer, Gary "The Glove" Payton.

Portland Trail Blazers: The Good Fellas
This is my nickname for them, from now on. To start off, our team culture has changed so much since the Jail Blazers, it would be nice to get as far away from that as possible. Not only that, but it is a kind of polar opposite to the Isiah's great Detroit teams of the 90's, the "Bad Boys". I would love it if someone could do some photoshopping & put Roy/Aldridge/Oden's heads onto the body's of the movie poster "Good fellas". . Kind of fitting to put Roy's head on Deniro & Rudy's on Joe Peschi :P Ill be sure to give credit & repost with that picture as the fanshot.
Thanks.
Carl Landry; Backup PF?
I remember him playing quite well against Oden & the Buckeyes in the Big 10 Tournament. He has really impressed me in the playoffs as well. Backup PF? Thoughts?
A Happy Oden, is an improving Oden
We know Greg lost his friend that moved with him to Portland. Some say that could of had some effect on his on court emotion/aggression & his off court happiness in Portland. Paul Allen & KP committed to him as the #1 pick in the draft. Now they must do everything in their power to help be, the best he can possibly be. Make him as comfortable as possible in Portland, let him know that this is his new town. Mike Conley Jr. - We have the ammo at our disposal to acquire him according to Memphis fans I chatted with. He has amazing improvement the last few months of the season. When Hollins trusted him with the offense. In order for Nate to put all his eggs into the "Conley Basket", we would have to send out Blake & Bayless. He has a low usage rate & a high 3pt shot%(40% 9th in the league for PG's), which makes me think he would do just fine with Roy on the court at the same time.He knows exactly where to put the ball where Greg likes it(Could have a positive effect for everyone else in terms of getting the rock to Greg). Whether it be on the pick & roll or a simple post up by Greg. He is further ahead on his 3’s then anyone thought he would be at this point in his career. He can drive with both hands very well & has the speed to get by just about anyone. Very quick hands, with McMillan as his coach he would only improve on the defensive end. Not only that but if we did trade for Conley, Oden’s attitude could change for the better in a drastic way. Him being happy is a big part of wanting to get better/work harder. Reuniting the tandem would make them both better. Conley fits a huge need as well. His ceiling is unlimited, especially if he plays here in Portland next to Roy, Aldridge & of course Oden for the next 10 years. Othello Hunter. He is a reserve, dirt cheap. He basically does the same thing's well that Oden does, but plays PF. Offensive rebounds & finishing at the rim is his forte. I remember him running the court at Ohio State quite well on fast break situations. Sign McDyess to mentor, sign Hunter & have him compete with Joel Freeland & or a late 2nd round pick this year for the #3 PF spot(#2 after Dyess retires when he gets his RINGS!)
Tom Thibodeau
He is a free agent after this year, rumored to be a candidate for multiple head coaching positions. He is a great young defensive mind. Of course Pierce, Garnett & Allen in their prime didn't hurt. He has been an assistant to a Jeff Van Gundy in the past with the Knicks & Rockets.
Artest: Positives of having him in practice
Oden: Teachs him to hold the ball with strength down low, with Artest slapping at the ball each and every day in practice.Roy: Pure compeition. Having Artest to compete against every day will help his defense & ability to score VS big SF's.
John Wall Arrest = Not a future Blazer?
I know Dave or Ben(can't remember) were loving what they saw at the Hoop Summitt but... Now that he is arrested, do we risk culture for talent? Only way we could maybe possibly get him is make a trade for a team like the Clippers 2010 1st round pick somehow.
Bayless Truth
I just finished reading the Daves assessment of Jerryd Bayless.
His chiseled physique and heft allowed him to bully opposing players and absorb contact on both ends of the floor. His aggressive drives netted whistle after whistle, which he converted into points via his excellent foul shooting. Whether he got fouled or not his knack for finding seams in the defense allowed him the opportunity to demonstrate his strong finishing skills at the rim...demonstrations which were met by the sounds of jaws hitting floors instead of the normal applause. He also showed some agility on defense and more importantly the desire to make use of it.

Tyrus Thomas
I am coming over from Blazers edge & had a really gross thought. You have KG, the best PF in the game... A great, hard arse coach in Doc Rivers who last year was able to turn everyone on the team into team first players.
The Meaning Of A Championship PG
Yes, I have been bored today. Just watching finals games from the last 10 years. As many as I could find... I found a recurring theme.
An Odd Observations for the Curious Minds
Travis Outlaw & Steve Blake were drafted in the same draft. Outlaw was 23rd overall & Blake was 38th. Just goes to show what college does to the length of your playing career as Outlaw isn't even 25 yet, however Blake is 28. Thoughts?
Michael Conley Playing For The Opportunity Of A Life time ?
Since the rumor(November 28th) was brought back to life that Blazers GM Kevin Pritchard is once again attempting to make a trade for Memphis PG Michael Conley. The Memphis PG is elevating his game... Going 19/31 FG, 5-7 3's, 1-1 FT, 4.6 assists, 2.2 rebounds & 8.8 points a game in an average of 27 minutes. Coming to Portland would force Conley to earn his playing time, if he expects to come here or start or get big minutes right away you can expect Pritchard not to pull the trigger. I trust KP to know if this kid has a future or if he has just been riding GO's coattails.
What are your thoughts?
Hello Anthony Morrow
... Undrafted out of Georgia Tech, Golden State took a flier on the 6'5" shooting guard.
He made the team & in his game today...
Was anyone else aware Corey Brewer is Asian?
Is Batum Starting VS Jazz?
I just read on ESPN, he is listed as our starting SF, with Outlaw as the backup. Do you think he should start? I do... Letting him play good defense + rebound while he gets comfortable, let Travis come off the bench, we know most the time that is when he is at his best. If he continues to work hard in practice I could see McMillan relying on his great defensive instincts early in games to confuse opposing SF's(most, not all).
