Bleeding Green Nation Eagles trade for LB Will Witherspoon?

From Philadelphiaeagles.com...

The Eagles have traded WR Brandon Gibson and a 2010 fifth-round draft pick to St. Louis for linebacker Will Witherspoon ...
Not yet, at least.

Something could emerge in the next several minutes. I honestly, truly don't know what is being discussed behind the scenes. I just know from experience that there is always something going on. Whether the talks reach the finish line, I don't know.

This would be a nice pick up for the birds imo.. from what I have seen from him over the years has nice speed hopefully will give our LB corps a boost.

Bleeding Green Nation Ingram Tears ACL

From PhiladelphiaEagles.com

Head coach Andy Reid announced after Saturday afternoon's special teams practice that rookie tight end Cornelius Ingram tore the ACL in his left knee during a goal line drill on Tuesday. Ingram was on the practice field as late as Thursday, participating in a limited role. It's the same ACL that Ingram tore before his final season at Florida.

"It wasn't what we anticipated going into this," Reid said.

The Eagles worked out three unnamed players this morning on a field adjacent to the team's practice fields at Lehigh University. From the players' size and route running, they appeared to be tight ends. Reid indicated that the Eagles would be signing a tight end, but he wasn't sure which one yet. He wanted to discuss with general manager Tom Heckert.

With Matt Schobel also sidelined, Brent Celek and Eugene Bright were the only tight ends at this morning's practice.

It's a disappointing setback for the fifth-round pick who many believed would be the steal of the entire NFL Draft. At 6-4, 245 pounds, Ingram flashed tremendous athletic ability in the Organized Team Activities and during training camp. Originally recruited to play quarterback at Florida, Ingram caught 64 passes for 888 yards and eight touchdowns. The Gators won not one, but two national championships, during Ingram's time at Florida.

It didn’t take long for Ikegwuonu to earn a nickname. After Ikegwuonu broke up a pass to first-round pick Jeremy Maclin, Asante Samuel screamed, "That’s what I’m talking about Iguana!"

This was from the first day of mini-camp prior to his hamstring pull.

Bleeding Green Nation Cowboys Practice Bubble Collapses

From NFL.com:

Associated Press

IRVING, Texas -- Four Dallas Cowboys staff members were injured Saturday when the roof of the team's indoor practice facility collapsed.

Cowboys spokesman Rich Dalrymple said all players and coaches were accounted for, and he didn't know the extent of the injuries to the four staff members, who were hospitalized.

Rescue personnel were still going through the debris to make sure everyone was accounted for, Dalrymple said.

Irving fire-rescue officials ordered all reporters and team personnel away from the immediate area.

The roof is a large air-supported canopy with aluminum frames covering a regulation 100-yard football field.

Power was out at the Valley Ranch facility.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I give all my wishes for those who were injured luckily there were no serious injuries......

With that said.... Is this not the best microcosm for Dallas since 96?

Bleeding Green Nation Day Two Mini-Camp Notes:

Just got done looking at some practice footage from the second mini-camp and wanted to share some quick notes with you guys:

-Stacy Andrews is still rehabbing his knee. Also Todd Herrmans had a minor procedure to scope out his knee, with that said the starting O-line was Peters LT McGlynn LG Jackson C Cole RG Shawn Andrews RT.

- Some notes on the starting D .. Demps again was starting at FS :) ... Sheldon was the RCB but Hobbs was rotating in with him and the second team.. also Parker was on the starting team with Victor rotating in with him. Akeem Jordan was also on the starting D. Macho was again the 2nd team FS and Sean Jones was the 2nd team SS

-I didn't get to see to much from Maclin, he is basically working with the 1s 2s and 3s .. During the 1s he was lined up on the right side and did a 5-7 yard hitch and was just completely blanketed by Hanson very very nice covered from him it was nice to see. The very next play Maclin was on the left side and did a 10 yard out Kolb threw a laser to the sideline and J Mac had a very nice catch got the feet in and everything looked very quick.

-Ingram is catching EVERYTHING and just looks like a dominate presence out there. He looks big, fast and athletic out there he will be a mismatch for many Linebackers. I will keep you guys updated if i see anything else.

Bleeding Green Nation You be the GM.

It's clear we all have different opinions and thoughts on what we think is going to happen in the next coming weeks. I thought it would be a good idea to have everyone give their opinion on what they think is going to happen, who we are going to draft, if we trade up  or trade to acquire a player, a "best case scenario in your opinion" ..if you will. I just want to get a sense of what everyone else is thinking and who they want out there, so here's mine.

 - Not counting out the possibility of the Boldin trade till we use both 1st picks ..haha sorry.

-I don't think we are moving up for one of the top tackles I believe our line is mostly in house right now. Moreno falls to us at 21 and we grab him Moreno and Westbrook, the new Williams and Stewart but a lot better. If Britton or Oher fall to 28 I have to think we would take either if not maybe they trade to the early 2nd and get a TE, Cook or Ingram or possibily Britt or Nicks if either fall that far..  best case scenario would be if Pettigrew fell to 28 but its highly unlikely. I also really like McCoy if Moreno is taking and later in the draft i would love to have S Louis Delmas from Western Mich. or  S Sean Smith from Utah.

Bleeding Green Nation For everyone who says we need a #1 WR I say this..

As of now.. asumming Plax goes to jail which he should...There are no #1 WR in the NFC east.. I will take BWest DeSean and Curtis and so on.. over the other receiving corps in the East. Its very unlikely the Cards will be willing to deal Boldin and in my opinion would not wanna give up sheldon for him. Im just trying to compare our WR corps to others in the East with potentialy Plax gone and TO out.. ours are looking pretty good right now.. and like Hecket said.. "We have a #1 DeSean"

Trade for Tony G...Draft Moreno or McCoy and a OT (Oher) trade up to get a Nicks or Hayward-bey...Thats have to be enough weapons for Mcnabb.. am i right?

Bleeding Green Nation ..Secondary Debate..

With the signing of Sean Jones and the departure of key players in our secondary, there are some questions marks to be answered. First off where does Sean Jones fit it, is he insurance for Demps and Mikell?..was it a move just  for depth on our roster at that position? My thoughts are that we signed him for one year to be more of a insurance policy for Demps and Mikell.. Personally I have been VERY high on Demps since we drafted him, has the most career INTs in his draft class and watching him at Lehigh 3 or 4 practices he was a BALLHAWK always around the ball and was picking off Kolb and Mcnabb quite a bit. Jones has proven to be a playmaker the past few years and will push for the starting role, but i believe its Demps job to lose. A lot of talk about Sheldon moving to SS.. with springs not being signed this is very unlikely in my mind. Mikell is coming off a pro bowl type season while making the second team all-pro I think he will stay put at strong safety. What do you guys think? .. anyone have any info on Jack Iwejenukkaaa.. im interested to see how his rehab is going im excited to see him on the field.

Bleeding Green Nation What the next 3 days mean...Dangerous to Dominate?

As FA closes in there are so many storylines to pan out. My first concern is that of Dawks and Thomas, reports are that we are close to deals with both. If either is not signed it would make for huge holes on the field as well as the locker room. I just dont see us not bringing them back. Second, is FA ..this has to be the most exciting FA year in ..well..since the TO rumors.. Mcnabb stated through the media he wants a weapon.. and i can bet hes not talking about harrison. ..TJ or bust in my opinion... The very least he can do is open up the entire offense, taking pressure off Westbrook and Mcnabb while leaving Jackson and Curtis with a lot more one on one situations. He is the type of player to make a dangerous team and dominate one. I strongly feel ..with money aside.. he knows his best chance for success is in Philly. The only way TJ is not an Eagle by Saturday is if the Giants outbid us right..right...How does everyone else feel about it? ..does anyone out there who bleeds green ok with us passing up on him?

Bleeding Green Nation Predictions for Monday night

In all honesty we should roll over the Browns I know everyone says dont overlook anyone (cin)..but the way we have played the past two weeks and whats on the line for our playoffs chances, McNabbs career as an eagles I dont see us playing down to the Browns level.... imo we get it done with only giving Westbrook 12-16 touches (which would be ideal) and use him more as a decoy. Browns entire gameplan on D will to be contain Westbrook opening up the play action plays, also if Buck is heathly and running hard downfield that will be a big factor.

Im seeing a huge game in the first half from DeSean.. first game held without a catch last week i look for him to see a lot of balls thrown his way with screens and maybe a reverse thrown in there as well. hopingggg to get to see him take a few clean punts he is overdue to take one to the house.

27-16 Eagles ...what do you guys think

Bleeding Green Nation FORCE ELI TO BEAT US

Statement game has to be the one word on the minds of every eagles player when they step out onto the field. with the nation watching the eagles need this win to make that statement within the tough division and through out the league. The key to this game is going to come down to the containment of Brandon Jacobs. For the most part outside of Portis who is having a MVP type season eagles have been solid against big time running backs. If there speed from the front four and linebackers(OG and Gocong need to have huuge games) can contain Jacobs from having a head of steam going into the second level we will win this game. If we make Eli try to beat us with his arm he  will make mistakes. The 3 picks last game give a hint that Eli has been hiding behind a SOLID run game with Jacobs and a solid D. On the other side of the ball I see us coming out spreading the field and going to the screen with Westbrook to negate the fast pressure they bring up front. once we burn them a few times early with the screen they will be playing off and Mcnabb will have the time he needs to make plays down the field and hopefully put up points early and often which plays right into Eli beating us with his arm. Player of the game is going to be Asante..  has been .5 seconds late jumping routes so many times he will have 2 and one will go to the house!!
