Tickets to Fridays game
So, due to circumstances beyond my control, I am probably going to have to work Friday night (9-23). That means I am most likely not going to be able to use my tickets for that nights game against the Blues. Unfortunately for me, but (possibly) fortunately for someone here, I am trying to get rid of them. You would need a Flash seat account, which is good because you won't have to meet me up here in the hills, and a small amount of cash- I would like to get most (or at least some) of my money out of them. They are $23 a piece in section 358. Go see some early Avs action for cheap! Leave a post here or email the account in my profile if you are interested.
Thanks,
Red
Bird Steals Zamboni!

Adam Proteau says something worth reading
Probably the only thing I've read of his that makes sense. And in light of the Av's start last season, let's hope the repeat that and build on it.
The spirit of the thing...
"In fact, of the 16 teams that qualified for the 2010 post-season, 10 won at least six times in their first 10 games, while 14 won a minimum of five of their first 10. The only exceptions were the ever-plucky Nashville Predators, who went 3-6-1 to start the season, built a 44-23-1 mark the rest of the way and still only finished in seventh place in the Western Conference, and the veteran Detroit Red Wings who went on a tear to finish fifth in the conference.
By now, we all should understand the primary reason why teams are unable to climb back into the playoff mix later in the season: the NHL’s irrational points system that awards the so-called "loser point" to a non-victorious team in any game that goes to overtime or a shootout." (The Hockey News)
Puck Daddy hates the unipron too
Or at least the look
Kovalchuk arbitration decision (humorous)
Funny stuff if you can see the humor in the kovalchuk "saga"
Avs Marketing?
So, I know we all like to bash on the (lack of) Avs marketing around here, so I thought I'd share a little something with you all. Today I received a phone call, from a real live person no less, asking me not only how I was doing, but if I'd be interested in hearing about the deals the Avs are offering on upcoming games. I was so shocked I could only say to call me back next season as I can't make it to any more games this year. Total blown opportunity I know, but I'm just not as quick on my feet as some of you around here, especially when said person catches me in the middle of a nap during my census job (your tax dollars at work!!!)
So have any of you received these calls, and are they maybe related to the MHH gathering? I can't think of any other way they got my number, especially since she said "we're calling Avs fans to offer them deals on tickets". Hopefully you can respond to their questions and find out just what kind of deals they had as I couldn't get my jaw off the floor long enough to query said potential victim.
All in all though, good to see (hear) them making an actual effort to sell some tickets.
And please don't let Ballsilly be the next owner of the Avs. K thx bai.
Don't like Chris Osgood (BiB, I'm looking at you) Click here
"Granted, you don't have to have a great goalie to win a Stanley Cup. Detroit proved this a couple times with Chris Osgood"
Hah. Despite all the bad things I sometimes say about AD, he nailed this one.
good article on refs and players
This guy is about the only reason why I read THN anymore, and with all the talk of refs this year I thought I'd post it up
Kroenke's Empire
"The St. Louis Rams might be No. 2. The St. Louis Business Journal is theorizing that you might exercise your right of first refusal to become majority owner of the Rams as the children of the late Georgia Frontiere try to sell their 60 percent stake.
As the Journal pointed out, the NFL is pretty much the place to be for big-time sports moguls, at least in the States. And you might feel a duty to St. Louis to step in if a buyer emerges who wants to move the club back to California, as has been rumored.
Unfortunately, the NFL has a cross-ownership ban that would require you to dump the Nuggets and Avalanche if you take over the Rams, which makes followers of the Nuggets a little nervous."
Fans of the Nuggets a little nervous? How about Avs fans? The last time there was owner upheaval we nearly lost Joe. Fortunately I don't think this is a real threat, but it did interest me. I had no idea there was a cross ownership deal in the NFL
Who says hockey players don't give good quotes?
"Ankle, yeah, that's close. But maybe it's just a burning sensation when you pee. You never know."
- Vancouver's Sami Salo answering questions Wednesday about the lower body injury that kept him out of Game 3 and keeps him questionable for Game 4 Thursday vs. Chicago.

Dater post missing
So, I get home from work last night and I read a Dater post on All things Avs about Eric Lacroix and the dangers of him being the new GM. In it, AD mentions that he doesn't care what happens to the team, as he has said before, and I wrote a long comment about how I wished to have some passion for the team and the writing, even if he wasn't obligated to root for the team due to his position as a journalist. I didn't disagree with the post so much, just the "I don't care" attitude.
So today I go back to see if he has responded, which he usually will to people in his own comments, and the post is gone. I thought the comment might be because I used shit in it (albeit sh!+), but the whole post has disappeared.
I had to go back and check my browser history to make sure I wasn't just imagining the whole thing, found the page, and got a page does not exist from the ATA page.
So my question is, has anybody had this happen before? I'm not going to be presumptious and assume it was my comment that made him pull it. I did like the post, just not quite the way he said it, and kinda wanted to re-read it today (sober) to make sure I wasn't being a jackass. So just curious if anyone here has seen posts just disappear before.
Svats done for the year
Well, I'd guess this hardly surprises anyone. Least it isn't his shoulder or a knee. probably would have only been a few weeks if the season weren't about done anyway.
Jibbles not alone
Well, I thought someone would have posted this by now, but I guess not. Apparently Jibbles isn't the only one who thinks the avs should make a serious run at Harding this year. For the record, I agree. Which means FG will sign someone else, of course...
Salary cap issues and the trade deadline
I think this is going to affect a lot of GM's in to having a quiet day tomorrow...errrr, today, and it ties in nicely with a lot of what dater says in his most recent blog post
http://blogs.denverpost.com/avs/
It cements even further my opinion that the best thing the avs can do to improve their team is fire the coach. And I used to think that was an excuse because you couldn't fire the whole team.
It seems that in the very near future, there may be a lot more buyout/waiver situations than we see now, and you know, I'm not sure that's a bad thing either for the avs or for the league as a whole. It might cut down on some of the stupid money being thrown around these days.
Boumeester?
"Even if a deal seems less likely with Florida in playoff position, the Panthers reportedly will consider offers for D Jay Bouwmeester, but would require more than just prospects and picks to make such a deal. The Buffalo News says that the asking price is a top-four defenceman and a veteran forward that can be sold to the Florida fan base (and help the Panthers make the playoffs this season)."
So I don't normally get into the trade deadline hype and speculation because so much of it is blatant BS or outright wrong, but the asking price for Florida's stud d-man caught my eye. That price would seem to have leo and lappy written all over it. Even if we had to throw in something else (pick or someone like hensick or svatos) and take one of their players (skrastins? ha, just kidding) it seems like this would be a good deal for us (especially if we could hypothetically/ fantasy world reality sign lappy back in the summer). The trouble is, I don't know if it would be a good deal for them. What do you guys think? Pipe dream or potentially good trade for both teams (ie one that has a reasonable shot). For trades that will make you laugh, see here

Rich Peverly waived- FG take notice
FG- It's ok to waive crappy players (yeah, I'm talking about Tyler "donut hole" Arnason here) who do nothing for your team except make the fans bitch and moan. Especially given the strong play of a few of your younger players lately. Just take a look at the numbers- (after all, "the numbers are the numbers, folks")
Peverly 2-7-9 in 27 games, The Arnageddeon 2-9-11 in 41 games.
It would seem that SOMEBODY would take Arnason off your hands. Of course, Peverly actually is on pace for better numbers per game, but Atlanta can't have the only crappy GM, can they?
Bertuzzi's roommate
Hey guys, I found a good pic of the todd nozzles last roommate, and his reaction upon learning todd would be leaving....
possibly nsfw
Statsny hurt, oh crap
This pretty much ruined my day
Wanna live in Detroit?
I didn't think so. Neither does anybody else. Found this quote in the print version of the rocky mountain news, but couldn't find it online to post a link. Since its been boring lately I figured I'd just write it in since it was short and I wanted to rip on Detroit a little bit.
"$1. Thats what a house in Detroit sold for recently. The home, located close to the Detroit City Airport, was foreclosed upon last summer, after it was purchased for $65,000 in 2006, according to The Detroit News.
The bank was so eager to sell the foreclosed property, it lowered the price to $1 in a final attempt to find a buyer. According to the newspaper, 14 days after the property was listed for $1, a woman purchased the house as 'an investment property'. The property taxes will run the new owner $3,900 in 2009."
Even for a dollar no one actually wants to live there. At $1 it still took two weeks for someone to buy it. Wish I woulda known. Hell, for a dollar I'd have bought it, just to paint it in avs colors and decorate it in avs merchandise. Maybe have a few effigies hanging in the front yard. Then, when the a-hole Wings fans burnt it down I could have collected a nice insurance check!
Bertuzzi to Flames
The title says it all. No word on money yet, just a one year deal. We're gonna see this guy a lot next year, assuming he doesn't get hurt or scratched. I personally hope parker pounds the crap out him in the first game we play, and injures him for the rest of the year. And i don't like seeing guys hurt, even phadouche. Speaking of phadouche, it looks as though he's no longer public enemy no. 1 on the flames.
