Gang Green Nation Keys to the Remaining Games

This is in no way a rant, nor do I think we are the worst team in the league heading for a 2-14 record, These are some of my observations and some of the things I would like to see each week. Feel free to criticize or agree.

-Plaxico must get more targets. He wasn't given the ball until the 4th quarter in the Cowboys game and Oakland game. He didn't even catch a pass vs Jax. Mark sees one on one with Plax, throw it up. He is huge and I think everybody knows he can still get up there and get the ball.

-Keller can get 1,000 yards, easily. He is such a matchup problem for every team it isn't even funny. Please give him the ball over the middle. These past 3 games he has been dynamic averaging 83 yds/gm. Good job so far getting him involved.

-Holmes will get his with his crisp route running. I think he is used more for those quick slants, and rightfully so. He won 2 games last year running slants and taking them downfield. We could do scary things with Keller finally showing his top TE skills and Burress being a monster when given a pass.

-Shonn Greene I'm on the fence about. I seem to think it is the O-Lines fault. Feed the hot hand is my suggestion. Greene had made some big chunks of yardage and then Schotty decides to throw the ball. If Greene is on a roll, give him the damn ball. If there is nothing there, let Sanchez use his weapons. Rex says he never wants the pass/run ratio to be off balance, but I see the Jets becoming a pass first team.

-I know its tough to criticize Schotty's playcalling becuase we are putting up points, but it's bad. On the goal line, in the 1st quarter, Shonn was given the ball once, then Sanchez on a bootleg ran it in, diving, yet protecting himself, but still something you don't wanna see in the 1st quarter with Brunell as your backup. Give the ball to Shonn or LT 4 times. If your "Ground and Pound" offense cant get 1 yard in 4 attempts, something's wrong. How many bootlegs does Schotty want to run? After the first 2, Oaklands D was ready for it, they had a DE waiting for Sanchez. After the 3rd bootleg was stopped, then go to something else, don't run the same play again. Then Greene was actually gaining good yardage on outside runs, but we stopped calling those plays before the D proved they could stop them.

-Rex has to blitz. That's it. We don't have a good pass rush, or a specialist. I have given up on Westermann. Try Maybin please, anything. On the final play that put the nail in the coffin, was Michael Bush running a wheel route right past Bryan Thomas. Campbell had all day to throw. If he didn't have 10 seconds to throw, Bush wouldn't have gotten downfield. The past 2 seasons Rex has been running blitzes all over the place, and our D has been atop the league. This year is a different story, and I belive it's due to the lack of blitzing.

Revis is Revis. Didn't hear his name called until the 3rd quarter, just what I expect from him. Cromartie, thanks for the loss. Bonehead play on the fumble. OK, so you were flagged 4 times. Maybe 2 were legitimate. You know how the game has changed in favor of Wr's, make the proper adjustments and don't put your hands on the WR constantly. Ask Revis for some tips.

OT: D'Brickashaw Ferguson, Wayne Hunter, Vlad Ducasse

OG: Brandon Moore, Matt Slauson, Robert Turner, Matt Kroul

C: Nick Mangold

OLB: Calvin Pace, Bryan Thomas, Jamaal Westerman, Aaron Maybin

MLB: David Harris, Bart Scott, Josh Mauga, Nick Bellore

CB: Darrelle Revis, Antonio Cromartie, Kyle Wilson, Marquice Cole, Donald Strickland

S: Jim Leonhard, Eric Smith, Brodney Pool, Dwight Lowery, Emmanuel Cook

Special Teams

K: Nick Folk

P: T.J. Conley

LS: Tanner Purdum

Those who juuussssttt missed:

Patrick Turner: He has done nothing at WR and hasn't contributed much on ST. The only thing he has going for himself is his size, which isn't irreplacable. The Jets won't put out 5 WR sets, especially with TE's like Keller and Cumberland. DePalma makes the roster for ST only.

Matthias Berning: Awesome game against the Eagles. I'm intriuged, but haven't seen enough to make the 53 man roster. Too bad he was stuck behing Satele for the 3 previous games. Come back next year please for the full preseason.

Mark Brunell: The 3rd QB spot rarely matters since you can only play in the 4th quarter. Drew Willy played decent against the Eagles, much better than Brunell would have played. Brunell doesn't offer much, neither does Willy, but I prefer Willy.

Gang Green Nation Fantasy Football League

If anybody is interested I created a fantasy football league on Yahoo Sports. I have been playing for many years and have had some success in doing so. The one thing that irritates me the most is having people who don't check their team on a weekly basis. I understand baseball and basketball becuase of the daily basis, but I think once a week is not asking much. I for one, check  football almost everyday for whatever reason. I absolutely hate playing a team that has 4 guys on a bye week and 2 injured players.

So if anybody is interested you are more than welcome. Just looking to have some good fun competiton. I guess make your team name your SBNation name so we know who everybody is. The only major stat change I made was decreasing Passing Touchdowns from 4 points to 3 points. Having a player like Carson Palmer have more points than Jammal Charles seemed crazy to me. A first round RB has less points than a mid round QB? Didn't seem right so I decided to make a change this year. All suggestions are welcome. All info needed to join is after the jump...

Gang Green Nation Tanny's At It Again.. Reworking Contracts

Per Michael Lombardi: The Jets have redone the contracts of Bart Scott, Calvin Pace, and Brandon Moore, as well as Mark Brunell to set the stage for Nnamdi Asomugha.

This should show everyone how committed these players are to winning the Superbowl. It also shows off Tanny's genius ways once again. I absolutely love seeing this as a fan. Looks like the Jets are in pursuit of Aso 100%. Hopefully enough money is cleared to sign other key players as well, like Braylon Edwards.

Gang Green Nation Revis - your the MAN

http://www.stampedeblue.com/2011/1/9/1924204/reggie-wayne-i-was-irrelevant

Please read that^^^. Revis shut Wayne down so badly, to make him say "I Shouldnt even have suited up." I guess Wayne is blaming Manning for the 1 target, but why would he throw you the ball when your LOST ON REVIS ISLAND!!!!! HAHAHAHAHA! Revis your the man. He does not get enough credit for what he does. You constantly see WR's like Andre Johnson, Reggie Wayne, Calvin Johnson, and many others get 10 catches for 120 yards, but when they vist Revis Island, they are completely lost, getting few targets. Lets gooooo! Who's pumped for Sunday in Foxboro!!????!!!!

J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gang Green Nation I Know It's Only One Loss, But Eye Opening

I remember Rex saying "We're built for this weather" well, you sure as hell didnt play like it. Supposedly we have a great defense and a run game like no other. Our D is just not that good, mainly due to the lack of a pass rush. We send 7 guys and the QB still has ample time to throw the ball. Leaving guys like Smith, Poole, Coleman, and Wilson in one on one coverage is getting us killed. Even when we rush 3, there is still so many holes in the secondary. Obviously the loss of Leonhard doesn't help either.

As for the ground game..Can we please let Shonn Greene start the game and get at least 20 carries. Give LT about 8-10 carries and bring him in on 3rd downs where he is most effective. LT should get the carries on the edge and have Shonn pound it up the middle.  Greene was running the ball lke it was nobody's business yesterday.

Sanchez looked completely out of it against the Pats. It looked to me as if he didn't even care. I saw they were checking Sanzhez out after one of the first few plays, maybe that had something to do with it. Accuracy was all over the place. He threw some of those INT's we hoped to never see again. I know he is still young, but cmon, the interception to Spikes was just horrible. He had a chance to get us back in the game and Sanchez blew it. Even if Spikes wasn't in that spot, there was still double coverage to Edwards(I believe he was targeting). The 3rd INT was awful. He literally threw it right to Sanders. I really wonder what Sanchez is thinking./seeing sometimes.

Here is a look at Sanchez's stats in different weather..

Cold (21-40 F) - 2 games    47.8 QB Rating      54.1  Comp%    165 yds/gm    1 TD and 4 INT

Mild (41-60 F) - 4 games     82.3 QB Rating       54.9 Comp%     257 yds/gm    7 TD and 4 INT

Warm (61-80 F) - 3 games   59.2 QB Rating      50.5 Comp%     154yds/gm     1 TD and 2 INT

Hot (> 80 F)   - 2 games     122.5 QB Rating       62.1 Comp%      238yds/gm     6 TD and 0 INT

Gang Green Nation Everyone Is Hating On Us!! Who Else Loves It?!?!?

Obviously this hatred started with Rex Ryan and his big mouth, which I personally love. Another reason for the hate is all of our Wins. Now i have absolutely no problem with people hating on us, if its for the right reason. People are just starting to get ridiculous with all of this "luck" crap. The Jets are 7-2 and all I keep hearing is that they are lucky and should be about 4-5. I want to break down some games and see if its luck or MAYBE WE HAVE A DECENT TEAM THAT KNOWS HOW TO WIN GAMES. You tell me a team other than the Jets that is 5-0 on the road with back to back wins in OT. Yea, that's what i thought, nobody.

Week 6 @ Denver - Maybe you'll say its luck,  and I'll say that it is a part of the game, but the pass interfernce call is a part of the game. Santonio was clearly interfered with and had his facemask grasped as well by the defender. It was a blatant foul and one that has to be made. That is not luck. It is actually a smart play by Mark Sanchez, seeing one on one and giving his guy a shot to come down with it, or draw the flag. And he got the flag. You tell me how thats luck.

Week 9 @ Detroit - I guess it's called luck whenver you beat the Lions? Everyone has been saying that the Lions are actually a very talented team. They are much better than their record indicates. They also didnt have Stafford for much of this year, which is part of the reason their record is bad, and unfortunately for the Jets, he played. He is obviously a great QB with enormous talent. I guess Sanchez gets no credit for making leading the Jets down the field 3 times when down 20-10 with just under 5 minutes left. Yes, 3 DRIVES THAT TOOK US DOWN THE FIELD THAT WON THE GAME, IS THAT LUCK TOO?

BEAUTIFUL, ISN'T IT?

Week 10 @ Browns -  A hard nosed team that plays very physical? Yea thats the Browns. The team that crushed the Saints 30-17 and then the Patriots 34-14? Yea it was the Browns. And then they lose to the Jets. Sanzhez played yet another great game and he gets "lucky" again. Our D played OK and let up a tying TD at the end, but guess who cuts up the Browns D, Santiono Holmes. Don't say that a slant pattern for a TD is luck. I've seen it happen millions of times. JUST BECUASE YOU SCORE A LONG TD, DOES NOT MEAN IT'S LUCK!!

Daily Norseman Moss and AP vs Jets D

All I see that Vikings fans are talking about is 'pick your poison', AP or Moss. I find it funny that Revis completely shut down Moss for 2 games last year and now that Moss beats Revis once, Revis cannot cover him anymore. I fully expect Revis to shut Moss down, again. Revis is without a doubt able to blanket Moss 1 on 1 for most of thie game, with occasional help from a safety. Therefore, we will be able to bring our safetys up for help with the run. Revis is so good, that when he gives up one catch, all you hear is " wow, I cant believe Revis was beaten." And when Revis isn't on Moss, Cromartie will be. We all know what happened in the 2nd half of the Pats/Jets game earleir this year. Cromartie is a great matchup for Moss. Moss has only been in the offense for less than a week and Favre has been struggling, so how does Moss have the upper hand agianst the Jets D?

Adrian Peterson on the other hand, is a different story. I do think the Jets wil be focusing on stopping AP all game. I believe he will have a good game. No matter how many guys you have in the box, he is still good enough to get his yardage.  But he will also be frustrated at times. Sean Ellis has been awesome this year, along with Pouha filling in for Jenkins. He has an unbeliveable combination of size, speed, and  an ability to make guys miss/break tackles. Although he hasn't fumbled yet this year, I believe an aggressive Jets D will finally have AP cough up the ball at least once.

In week 1, we shut down Ray Rice, holding him to 43 yards and 21 carries. With the Ravens being a great running team, I belive this was a great showing for the Jets run D.

New England doesn't really have much of a running game, but they were still shut down.

Miami was held to a 3.7 ypc on 23 rushes. Usually the Ricky/Ronnie combo will result in big gains, but not against this Jets D.

Buffalo is just awful, so I wont even go there.

Thus proving that the Jets D has been great against the run all year, I believe AP will have a good game, not a great. Although this will not be enough for the Vikings, Jets 24 to Vikings 17

Gang Green Nation LaDanian Tomlinson

LT is visiting witht he Jets tomorrow if no deal gets done today in Minny (according to Schefter). I would say bring in Tomlinson. Maybe he can do better with the best O-line in the NFL. Thomas Jones had a ridiculous year in 2009, I think mostly because of the holes opened up by the O-line. Lets see if Jones does that agian with KC's line. We also do not know if Greene can take a full workload nor can he catch out of the backfield. Leon may get snatched away from us and his leg is a question mark. Tomlinson has already said he would accept the role as a 3rd down back. He says he can catch, run routes, and block, so i guess he would make for a great 3rd down RB. Tomlinson's legs would also be fresher not taking as many snaps and rushes.

Gang Green Nation OJ Atogwe?

Any reason the Jets haven't show interest in him? The Rams put the lowest possible tender on him, so why not if it won't cost us much. I think he could be a great addition to our secondary. It would also save us from having to draft a FS somewhat high in the draft. Nor would we have to rely on Ihedibo or Smith who are unproven starters. Hope we make an offer for him.
