Manning to Broncos!! Bad move just my opinion. Outside no dome very cold winters inexperienced receivers. I would have chose 49ers. Oh I did Think! Do u go to the Team that went 2 the NFC championship with great defense ,running game n Moss or Denver? #HOP Let me see u would play against Rams,Arizona n Seattle twice or Oakland,KC and San Diego twice. Okay help me please I'm a lil slow! When a brother that's been in this same situation try to tell u what's real some of y'all don't want to hear it. Oh well let the TRUTH hurt PLEASE call da best that EVER did it n ask how he thinks this will play out because I've seen this b4! JOE MONTANA. Prime has spoken. TRUTH
Brian Daboll will only be the OC, not a position coach
Focus is only on OC for once....
Luck is working with.....Samie Parker?
From MMQB. Peter King's interview with Andrew Luck.
Me: What are you doing to prepare for the Scouting Combine?
Luck: "Working out in Los Angeles with Athletes Performance Institute. Trying to get my hands on as much NFL tape as I can. I'm lucky. I was in a program at Stanford with coaches who had lots of ties to the NFL, so I've seen a lot. That's helped. And I'm trying to adjust to the speed of the NFL. I'm working with some receivers who have had NFL experience, like [former Chief] Samie Parker.''

6. Kansas City will win the AFC West.
The Chiefs lead the Raiders by two games in the loss column and are three up on San Diego. They have only two teams with winning records remaining on their schedule and have four games left at home, where they are 4-0.
More importantly than the schedule is that Matt Cassel and Dwayne Bowe are starting to live up to expectations after struggling early in the year. Cassel threw three picks over the first three games but has not been intercepted in the past four. Bowe has five TD catches in his past three outings after managing just one in his first four. Combine that with the league's top-ranked running game, an opportunistic defense and a favorable schedule, and it's a prescription for success.
Oakland also appears capable of winning the division, beating Denver and Seattle by an aggregate of 92-17 the past two weeks. Running back Darren McFadden is healthy and playing like a top-5 draft pick, and the defense has figured out how to stop the run, limiting opponents to 75 or fewer yards in each of the past two games. A concern, however, is the ankle injury that Pro Bowl cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha sustained last week. If he can't play Sunday against the Chiefs, it's a major advantage for Kansas City.

Would you fire yourself for Bill Cowher? I believe this came from the esteemed Nick Wright.
From Chiefsplanet. Wow. Haley should have just beat his ass right there. What an unprofessional dick.

Not Chiefs related, but hilarious nonetheless.
I'm a huge fan of my colleague Peter King, of course. But when I saw that he picked the Kansas City Chiefs to go 8-8, I was wondering if maybe a virus had hijacked his computer. The Chiefs went 2-14 last year, traded away (by far) their best offensive weapon (Tony Gonzalez), paid a lot of money for a quarterback who before last year had not started since high school, had what pretty much everyone called an uninspiring draft and then signed an all-star team from 2002 (WR Bobby Engram, LB Mike Vrabel -- they have since released WR Amani Toomer and LB Zach Thomas). Their offensive line is in shambles. They fired their offensive coordinator during the last week of training camp.
That's not to say they can't go 8-8. This is the NFL, and crazy stuff happens. What I'm saying is that if the Chiefs get within three games of 8-8, I'm buying Peter a nice watch or an espresso maker or something because that would be one heck of a pick.

Get out your wallet Joe!!
Rather than go looking for talent elsewhere, the Chiefs kept it familiar by signing six rookies and one first-year player who had been part of the team’s preseason roster. The practice squad consists of the following players.
CB Jackie Bates
TE Tom Crabtree
DE Dion Gales
G Darryl Harris
RB Javarris Williams
WR Rodney Wright
If there were any doubts that the Chiefs have reached a desperate stage in improving their wide receiver group, the signing on Monday of Ashley Lelie should end those.

Gretz on the Lelie signing. Anyone else notice that his attitude seems to be pretty negative lately? Wonder what his deal is...
Gut feeling: I believe in the defense, which is totally sold on coordinator Ron Rivera's schemes and the teaching of the Rivera staff. If Philip Rivers gets protected well, and the Tomlinson/Darren Sproles/Jacob Hester (the big back who hurts you when he hits you) combo platter stays mostly healthy, no team will come within four games of the Chargers in the AFC West.
Peter King's MMQB. No one within 4 games huh? We'll see.
Chiefs coach Todd Haley has made it clear, again and again, that conditioning is a priority. It's a basic element of success, he believes, and it clears the way for coaches to emphasize more important and advanced issues during the relatively brief three weeks of training camp.
So when a likely starter fails the conditioning test, it's a tough thing to deal with. Defensive end Glenn Dorsey admitted Friday that he was among the handful of players who didn't pass the test.
"Close," he said after a long pause. "I've still got a ways to go."
If I was taking the conditioning test . . .
I'd pass. Without breaking a sweat (but only because it's more like September up here in Wisconsin).
If I was taking the test, I would also be taking it seriously. Todd Haley has drawn a clear line here and it appears he's serious about enforcing it.
That doesn't mean he would cut, say, Derrick Johnson or Matt Cassel if they failed to run their three 300-yard shuttles in the alloted time (but they won't fail). But he might extract a price in a different way. As for lesser players, he might cut them if they fail.
So I'd take care of business and not bother to find out, even though Haley can't cut me.I call bullshit.
Re: guest columnists for the next four Mondays: We'll start with Trent Green coming off the bench next Monday to spell me. Enjoy this wise man of football.

Trent Green will be filling in for the SI MMQB next Mon. while Peter King is on vacation.
The Kansas City Chiefs waived LS Thomas Gafford, WR C.J. Jones, DT T.J. Jackson and LB Darrell Robertson on Friday. Gafford played in nine games as Kansas City’s long snapper in 2008, while Jackson saw duty in four games for the Chiefs a year ago.
Look for Arrowhead Stadium to be rocking again soon.
What really is the problem on the Chiefs defense?
Nice first FanPost. To keep up with the Chiefs news today, we'll be posting lots of FanShots so keep an eye on that section. -Chris
I'd like to pose a question here and see your opinions on the subject.
What really is the problem with the Kansas City Chiefs defense?
There's been quite a bit of criticism directed towards Gunther Cunningham as of late. Maybe this is warranted. Maybe it's not. I haven't been able to make a decision about Gun myself. I love having him on the team, but this may just be a sentimental throwback notion that dreams of the glory days of our defense. Is he still relevant in the modern day of the NFL? I'm not sure, but consider this:
Gun has shown in the past that he can run a successful defense. He certainly did it in the 90's, but some of that success can be credited towards Marty and DT, among others. Since he was rehired in 2005, Cunningham has been steadily improving the defense:
2004 - 31st
2005 - 18th
2006 - 16th
2007 - 13th
So why is it so bad this year? According to the trend so far I was expecting to break into the top 10 of the league. Obviously that hasn't been the case. Is it injuries? Too many young players? Lack of Jared Allen? Lack of significant free agents?
I have another theory: Herm Edwards.
We've all seen Herm's inability or unwillingness to change. Last year's offense was arguably the worst in franchise history. This year's started out much the same way. Then look what happens - Herm finally backs off and lets Gailey do his job. This offense is not Herm Edwards' offense at all. But by abandoning his concrete notions of what a team should be they've actually made it work. The team is actually moving the ball and scoring points now. The offense (beyond all belief) is actually the side of the ball that has given the team an opportunity to win games at times.
The defense seemed to do a serviceable job in 2006 and 2007. Why the sudden change? Who knows, but it does pose the question: What exactly would happen if Herm backed off and let Gun run the defense like he did with Gailey? We all know that the Cover 2 isn't Cunningham's choice of defense. Therefore, he's being forced to run a scheme that goes against his style of coaching. I can't see Herm ever turning away from it since he's known as a defensive coach and the Cover 2 is his baby. But what if they did? What if they threw his set-in-stone policies out the window and let the coordinator run the show?
My guess: major improvement. So who's fault is this really? Let's hear it guys.
