Craig James debating!!! A lot of you old timers (who remember me) may know I'm a big Ron Paul fan...but listening to Craig James trying to call upon "my guy"...I almost vomited in my mouth.
Look, Craig, some of us already know you're a flip-flopper and love the status quo. Leave Dr. Paul out of it, please!
Cam Newton's Dad Admits Soliciting Money?
Cam's dad admits to soliciting money but says Cam knew nothing about it, and that Auburn wasn't involved, either. Problem is, Cam apparently called MSU to apologize for Dad's decision (thus proving he was involved) and in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter. According to NCAA rules, once a potential player, family member, or someone associated with potential player solicits, regardless of potential players knowledge, it is a violation. Cam's future seems to be on thin ice at the moment, and also Auburn's as a direct result.
Boise State Falls to #3 in Coaches Poll
Also notable that NC State jumped over Hawai'i to take the 25 spot. Hawai'i still the first team out...Nevada did get a lot of love, moving to #23.
Still #2 in AP Poll
Other notables here are Nevada picking up #25...NC State again jumped Hawai'i...leaving them to again be the first one out. We are only 7 points ahead of Auburn, and I have no idea how many first place votes were cast where.
Harris Poll Other notables, Nevada at 23 and again Hawai'i first one out (does the Harris Poll voters just wait to see what the Coaches and AP voters do and then cast their votes? That's seriously what it seems like).
WAC - MWC resolution reached. Football teams must wait till 2012, all other sports in 2011.
Story has also been linked on MWC Connection...no official press release yet...everyone is still searching/waiting.
EDIT:
Apparently, the story isn't true...weird.
EDIT 2:
Computer Rankings as they come out
Going to try something new here...track the computer rankings as they are released.
First, we know the AP Rankings (with Boise State at #2...also a reminder that these are not used in the BCS formula). Please remember that you can analyze the individual voters at PollSpeak or utilizing the AP Site, itself.
Coaches Poll where we are also #2.
Harris Poll also has us at #2 follwed by TCU and then Oklahoma. Also of note, Nevada is still ranked at #25 in this poll, and like the other 2 human polls, VA Tech is ranked again (#23 in all three).
We also now have to overall BCS Rankings where we are #3. It feels bad...almost like a loss...but, like everyone keeps saying, there is a LOT of football left to play. As long as Boise handles its business, we should be gravy (quick, raise your hand if you think Oklahoma or Oregon are going to run the table...anyone? How about Auburn/LSU...still no? Exactly). Complete BCS Breakdown is here.
Now, on to the Computers. They consist of Massey BCS, Sagarin-ELO, Colley, Billingsley, Anderson, and Wolfe (the title link will get you to the composite ranking with individual links to them all).
Massey BCS #7 here, behind Oklahoma, Missouri, Michigan State, LSU, Auburn, and TCU.
Sagarin-ELO has us at #6 behind Oklahoma, Oregon, Michigan State, Auburn, and Stanford.
Colley #7 behind Oklahoma, LSU, Auburn, Michigan State, Missouri, and TCU.
Billingsley has us at #2 behind LSU; Oklahoma is #3.
Anderson & Hester #6 behind LSU, Auburn, Oklahoma, Michigan State, and Missouri.
Wolfe has us at #7 behind Oklahoma, Auburn, LSU, Michigan State, TCU, and Missouri.
Remember, the highest ranking and lowest ranking are thrown out for each team. The remaining 4 are averaged together to get the composite Computer Poll.
Who are the Harris Poll Voters?
Follow the link to find out who this year's Harris Poll members are, if anyone cares. The ballots are secret except the very last one (like the Coaches Poll). Though I recognize a few of the names from their playing days, the only media personality I recognize is Mike Prater...here's hoping he's one of the 10.
First BCS Rankings Released OCTOBER 17 (to clear up confusion)
Since there has been a lot of confusion (mostly caused by ESPN and its employees), I dug around and got the info. The First BCS Countdown show will air tomorrow (Oct 10), however will NOT include the BCS rankings. The first OFFICIAL BCS rankings will be released next week (Oct 17). Click the link for further details.
Boise State vs Wyoming Song!
Here's what we've all I've been waiting for!
Be sure to check out the Chokie Hokie song at the bottom, too!
Boise State living with different criteria than elite programs
EXCELLENT article...especially half way down when the author posits this:
Most perplexing was a Yahoo! Sports column insisting Boise State didn’t prove anything by beating the Hokies. The columnist stated that Boise State "needed a humiliation of Virginia Tech" to be taken seriously as a title contender.
By that odd logic, why is it OK for Alabama, Ohio State and Texas to squeak out wins over Top 10 teams? Or Top 25 teams? Or unranked conference foes, for that matter?
In fact, Alabama faces No. 18 Penn State this Saturday. Do the Crimson Tide need a "humiliation" of Penn State to remain No. 1? And No. 2 Ohio State meets No. 12 Miami. Do the Buckeyes need to humiliate the Hurricanes to keep that No. 2 ranking? Is it cool for Texas to squeak by current Top 10 conference mates Oklahoma and Nebraska in October or do the Longhorns have to "humiliate" both teams?
The answer is of course not on all counts. That would be a ridiculous requirement against stellar programs like Penn State, Miami, Oklahoma and Nebraska. It would be just as stupid as placing a condition on Boise State that it needed to humiliate a very solid Virginia Tech program that has won 10 or more games in seven straight seasons.
Well said, sir...well said, indeed!
Boise State's rise is astonishing, but it didn't happen overnight
Great article...a lot of history touched on...with a focus on the rise from Coach Lyle Smith's perspective.
E/A Sports Predicts the 2010 Bronco Season
Very interesting and entertaining read from our brothers at BroncoCountry.com
Ian Johnson Cut By Minnesota Vikings
Here's hoping he either get picked up by someone or gets resigned to the practice squad again.
Did we miss this along the way? Brandyn Thompson interview with CBSSports. Nothing great...just Brandyn reading the Coach Pete media answer sheet...but still fun to listen to.
Mark May puked in his mouth a little on Sportscenter...LIVE
Craig James (yes, that D-Bag)...said, when asked who the Heisman front runner was, and I quote "I know people in Boise think I'm joking here, but Kellen Moore" (with Mark May holding his ear....turning green...rolling eyes...and puking a little. I, on the other hand simply peed myself a smidge...how's the foot taste, Craig? Mark also thinks we'll be losing to VA Tech...obviously.
Fearless Predictions for opening week...I agree with 2 out of 3...see if you can find the one that he's wrong on (hint: it starts at about the 4:20 mark).
Boise State 2010 Introductions.
AP Preseason poll released!
In other news, we actually received a 1st place vote...be sure to check out www.pollspeak.com for a complete voter analysis.
The Mark May "love" by our players is spreading!
Gotta love it. I'll post a screen shot below

Farewell WAC/National Championship Tour Theme Song Recommendation
Please fast forward to the chorus (1:15)...though, if you listen from 3:00 until the end, it could be the entrance, with the hammer slam at exactly 3:36/3:37, and then the fans singing the "theme song". Or you could have the fans sing the "theme song" as the team runs in (beginning at 3:36) and have the hammer slam at the end.
Nate Potter - Outland Trophy Watch List
The 2010 Outland Trophy watch list has been officially released, and our very own Nate Potter is on it (in full disclosure, when you have 63 people on the initial list, how could he NOT be on it?)!
Early Heisman Odds
Moore is on there...and not horrible odds, either. Check out the last paragraph...in fact, let me quote it for you:
"Like I said earlier, I'm no gambler, but if I were I'm looking long and hard at Moore and Locker. If I were a betting man, of course."
Six (Plus One) Things to Take Away from Conference Realignment
Great article, in my opinion...vainly I will say that I'm pretty sure all these thoughts came to my brain first...humbly I will say that I'm glad someone with an iota of journalistic ability had the same thoughts and wrote them down.
Texas A&M turned down invite to join P10 in mtg today with P10's Larry Scott and Kevin Weiberg in College Station, a Big 12 AD confirms.

BIG 12 may now stay together?
Apparently Beebe thinks they can ink a TV deal with the 10 current BIG 12 schools to pay each institution SEC type money (17 million or so). Great! Doubtful, but great. How much could the PAC-xx pay out with the likes of USC, Texas, & OU? Some have said about twice that.
Nice try, Beebe...and I'm sure Texas will listen like they said...but I wouldn't unpack your bags.
