Diamonds in The Rough: My 2012 Favorites
It's that special time of the year, the one we look so forward to, even during the regular season. Here's a couple of my favorite prospects per position, hopefully when they get selected you can say that you've at least heard of them. Below i put a couple things i like or know about a prospect and where they are projected to go. Enjoy.
Good article on a local Draft Prospect
A DE from Bethune Cookman
Christmas Eve 1st Mock Draft
This is my first mock draft this year so please give me feedback, suggestions and reasons why your pick is good or bad. Hopefully ill have it nailed down after a couple tries. I'll be using the list of team needs by rhettchrystal. The draft order is the one Dan did, So here we go.
Sackapotamus: Can we find a Monster pass rusher in the Draft?
So far, most of us have debated and thought about drafting Wide Receivers, Quarterbacks, Cornerbacks, or Offensive Tackles in the 1st Round. We have also explored possible options for our second round pick(s). However, I feel like me personally, I don't know much about the upcoming DE/Pass rush specialist class of 2012. While its not a major need because we have capable DEs in Roth (when healthy), Mincey (big motor, occasional playmaker), and some decent rotational contributors in Douzable (surprise!) and John Chick. Having a stud DE would improve the defense even further, provide more depth, help the offense by keeping the game close in the end.

Alshon Jeffery falls and sanu soars
Looking forward to the Draft: Santa are you Real?
Hello guys, its time for our pretty much yearly midseason Draft lust to begin. After the despicably, diabolically atrocious offensive showing, I just have to look to see if there will be any hope on our horizon. The truth is that this year has the deepest WR class in a long while, as of this week. Im going to go in depth with the WRs and try to group them up. By my counts there is at least 5 1st round worthy WRs and a plethora of 2nd Round worthy WRs following the first group, which is: (Information mainly from MockingtheDraft.com)
1st Round Description

Justin Blackmon - Oklahoma St. Good hands, Decent Size, playmaker in a pass orientated system, explosive
Micheal Floyd - Notre Dame Good hands, Good size, hard to tackle. RED FLAG
Jeff Fuller - Texas A&M Big Target, Possession Recievers, needs development, lower ceiling
Juron Criner - Arizona Good hands, size, speed but not special at anything. Jack of All Trades
Fringe 1st Round - Fringe 2nd Round
Ryan Broyles - Oklahoma Quick and shifty, small squirt-bug with ability to get high YAC
Mohammad Sanu - Rutgers Plays for a bad team yet shines, Go to guy, productive, Not big not small. Look here
Dwight Jones - North Carolina Article by Seahawks SBNation blog, Field Gulls: Here

Battle Red Blog: Explaining the History of our mutual foe: the Titans
A video explaining the origins of the Tennessee Titans
Who do you think will be the Surprise team of 2012?
Pick the team that will surprise people next season. This team can either be a good surprise, say sub .500 to playoffs or playoffs to sub .500 win/loss. Don't pick the Jaguars, try to pick a different one. Give an explanation if you can, that shows your reasoning.
My 'good' surprise team - Detroit Lions. I feel like Detroit can be in contention for a wild card spot barring post-superbowl letdown by the Packers or continued Jay Cutler incidients with the Bears, in which case maybe they could win the NFC North. Stafford needs to prevent injuries whenever possible. The Lions had a really good draft and got a really nice DT duo in Nick Fairley and Ndamukong Suh, (as a Jaguars fan i appreciate good DT duos). I think they have enough playmakers on defense and offense to make a run.
My 'bad' surprise team - Chicago Bears. After getting all the way to the NFC Championship game against the Packers, the Bears imploded mainly because of Jay Cutler. I think the Cutler Era is going to keep going downhill. After the Draft the main players of note that the Bears got were Paea, a DT, and Carimbi, an OT. The passing game looks to be dependent on Cutler. Add a defense with some aging playmakers. It looks like a recipe capable of being a disaster especially with a very competitive division with the Super Bowl Winning Packers, the resurgent Lions, and rebuilding Vikings. Chicago looks to be in a battle for 3rd with the Vikings in the NFC North.

How Devin Hester is Spending his Off-Season
"This may sound crazy, but I’m actually writing a parenting column. It’s going to run in one of the Chicago newspapers and also in a Chicago parenting magazine. I want to inspire the fathers out there about how important it is to be in their sons’ lives..."
A Message to the Team
To the Team and all those who are involved with it,
Since the offseason, we've been having a great deal spent on the great season we're going to have and thus the less blackouts that occur. Team Teal should thousands of luke-warm to previously indifferent people to invest in the jaguars. The contract being invest in us and later you'll see the team at its peak. But to all those new ticket holders, you have to perform to where they are glad to be watching the team, not regretting the lost movie tickets to AMC and dinners at Outback. So just to say, we've gone a little less than expected.
No one should watch their beloved team get trampled consecutively in 2 weeks. It really kills any momentum we had after holding the tide against the Broncos and all those who follow the banner. All i want from the Jaguars, is a close game. I got 5 friends from school going to the game and the last thing i want is another bad showing. If you can make it competitive, and maybe, just maybe, put in a little extra into it, the results should look better. Since i'm used to this rollercoaster of emotions and that we'd be lucky to go 2-2, i can understand the current record. I just can't understand the scores in the last two games. And David, you and the rebuilding Jaguars are who we should of thought you were, almost but not yet there.
For the sake of our sanity, just play as good, as mistake free, as creative as possible. If not, just keep the game close, so we can have something to hold to until sacred Draft time comes again. And if you can ink out a win, no one will be happier than I am.
Signed,
A Die-Hard Fan
Preaching to the Choir: What we already Knew
- The Jaguars have extreme difficulties traveling to the West Coast and playing a decent or even slightly below average game of football. We all had it on our minds going into Week 2 and speaking for myself, i was way over optimistic in hindsight. When it comes to West Coast road games, i'll stay realist till we prove we can handle a time change of 3 hours. Thank God the Superbowl isn't in California, or we'd be screwed from the beginning.
- Our Secondary is secondary to every other secondary in the NFL. I will start with giving props to David Jones, the cornerback from Cincy, for a clutch red-zone Interception. However, let me clarify it to the point of dumbing it down. Just because you hit an opposing player, does not mean he will go, you must wrap him up with both arms at least. C'mon man. And what the Bleep are you doing letting Antonio Gates be wide open. Maybe you were under a rock somewhere but he's a top 3 TE who is the game-changer of their entire offense.
- We are rebuilding. We got at least 1 draft if not more before we had all the "pre-requistites" of being a contender of anything other than cellar-dweller.
- Patience, the team is young, the defense isn't wholly decent and the playcalling is what it is. The execution will take time before it gets to being there on every play.
- We aren't going to win every game let alone going 4-0 during this hard section of the schedule.
- Vince Young isn't elite. We are equal to or greater than him even with Garrard.
Here's to the Draft, may we get some secondary and QB help.
Post-Game Polling: The QBs
After alot of conversation, debating, and argueing, I thought maybe a good idea would be to create a poll where we can guage how many of us readers/commentators think Garrard should be starter or McCown or maybe we're waiting for consistent play from either. Whatever your viewpoint, I encourage you to express it, own it, and to not point out the flaws in other's thoughts.
My Viewpoint:
Garrard had an impressive 07' year, which is why he's been the starter. However, you cannot point to a season, 3 years ago to vindicate the present. If Garrard cannot deliver a higher level of play then i'd like to see McCown play against a defense full of starters. I'll always go for a possibly better player than a proven mediocre or worse player. But i'm tempering myself. I'm not going to call for Garrard's head yet, it's only preseason.
Here's a point that brings a fury to this important question:
“the Jaguars are on the verge of becoming irrelevant.”- Skip Bayless of Espn's "First Take"
Remember, it's the first week of preseason, football has yet to totally begin. Go Jaguars
Jags vs Eagles: Work shall set you Free
After a disappointing 1st team showing the Jaguars found themselves leading the Eagles for the majority of the game. After watching and observing the Jaguars, here's a couple thoughts.

The Theory of Cycles: From Bad to Elite and Back Again
I started watching NFL football at the early age of 8. Since then, many seasons have passed and the records of teams have dramatically changed. Its lead me to believe in a theory I've found self evident in the NFL. To state it: Teams have cycles where they are Bad and then add players who make them good for about 5-8 years usually. As they hold on to the successes of past seasons, their players grow older and the surrounding team either becomes old with them or extremely younger. There are also transitional periods: From Bad to Average to Elite, for example. So allow me to show a couple instances that give evidence that supports the Theory.
To the Fans: What are your Expectations?
With knowledge of your schedules and seeing some of your roster, draft picks, and free agency pickups, What are your expectations for your favorite team's record? Lately, i've been curious about other fan's outlooks even if they are hopelessly homeristic, I made up that word. If you state the record or record range, a.k.a. 8-8 to 9-7 or even 9-7 Wildcard berth, and maybe a couple reasons why, like: Because we are playing the chiefs 2 times a year or whatever.
I guess i'll start with my team: Jacksonville Jaguars

Jaguars Sign the first Rookie of 2010 Draft Class

From Jaguars.com
The Jacksonville Jaguars signed 2010 fifth-round pick Larry Hart to a contract, the club announced today. Hart, the 143rd overall pick, is the first of the club’s six draft picks to sign a contract.
So who will be the next rookie to sign?
With all likelihood, it will probably not be 1st round pick Tyson Alualu because of all the intricate details that are put into 1st round pick's contracts. However I think 6th round picks Deji Karim or Scotty McGee could be the next ones to sign. Though hopefully none of the rookies will hold out this year because as we all know, they need as much practice as they can get.
Go Jaguars and continue signing the 2010 class!
Hard Knocks Episode 1: Jaguars of 04'
I recently learned that the Jaguars had a Hard Knocks series. I've seen them all and you'd be shocked at what was happening backed then because of the Hindsight we have now. But anyways, a couple of the Old Stars are still on the team then, (Donovin Darius, Jimmy Smith, Fred Taylor).
Just go down to Episodes, Season 3 and there are 6 episodes. Enjoy
Open Jaguars Thread: 2010 and the Future
Hey, the dead zone has arrived and we all are desperate just to talk Jaguars. I find myself just trying to make conversations with my family about the Jaguars because the Jaguars aren't playing. But anyways, you can can talk, express an opinion of the strength of a Jaguars position, the schedule or whatever else may be on your mind.
A Couple questions that you could answer (might as well start the discussion)
1. Who do you think will be the best rookie, drafted or undrafted?
2. Which past or present Jaguars player do you dislike the most?
3. What NFL team do you dislike the most?
4. What position do you expect us to address in the 2011 Draft?
5. Unrelated: Are you going to buy Call of Duty: Black Ops?
SBNation's Gator's website's opinion of the "BroncoGators"
Though not all of us are gator fans, we all struggle with the Tebow Effect on our beloved Jaguars. Here's a side that we haven't heard much from Gator fans.

Jordan from Fort Pierce, FL
Who was the most notable celebrity you have seen at a Jaguars game?Vic: I covered the Super Bowl between the Eagles and Patriots from inside my office, with the TV on and the door shut. Why? Because the press box seat I was assigned was so awful that I would’ve had to watch the game on TV, so why not watch it on my TV in my office? Hey, it was still closer to the field than the press box seat I was assigned. Anyhow, at some point during the game I needed to make a run down the hall to the bathroom. When I opened my office door, President Bush, the first one, was standing right in front of my door talking to some people. The Secret Service guys gave me a hard look so I closed the door and sat back down. It was kind of cool. Toward the end of the game, I opened my door again and this time the Eagles cheerleaders were filing by, for my review, of course. That was really cool. Then, in the fall of 2008, during a normal work day, I opened my door to make that trip down the hallway and, all of a sudden, out of a dressing room directly across the hall from my office comes Sarah Palin. I don’t think I have to tell you how exciting that was.

What Jaguar Jersey(s) do you have?
Hey, I am writing this fanpost after buying my Kirk Morrison Jaguars jersey off NFL.com. After purchasing, I wondered what the readers of BCC have for Jersies. Personally, I've had a Mark Brunell, Fred Taylor, and Matt Jones Jersies, (though I wore the Matt Jones jersey for but a small time). All my jersies have been Teal, though I admire anyone who has the old, traditional black. So if you could vote in the poll below, that would be awesome.
I wanted to share this. If anyone wants to get a player's jersey that's not available, then I'd rec making a customizable jersey off NFL.com or Jaguars.com. You can type in the player, (in my case MORRISON) and his number, (55). I had to make a customizable jersey because I had $60 in coupons and giftcards from the 2010 NFL Draft that were expiring June 15.
