NetsDaily scoring options

One thing that concerns me about watching the nets is their lack of scoring options.

Now with okur...he can space the floor and spot up for 3...play pick n pop with deron...set screens and slip for the 3 (also helping open up things for a. morrow)

make space for damian james to post up or drive from the 3 position...

perhaps...deshawn can step up his mid-range game and off the dribble action...

or marshon steps up and adjusts to the NBA faster than anyone has

I think deron needs to drop like 25 and 12 every night...which is very plausible...but where we gonna get our other points from? (figuring okur picks up 15 a game to replace lopez's 20 +ppg)

Who's gonna step up from the nets? (or do we just chuck up 3's all day and space the floor like crazy)

i hope the coaches do a good job of creating more opportunities for everyone and keep everyone accountable to work.

Nets kinda looked like the Giants out there in the pre-season...passive and passion-less (except for a few ...Deron = JPP)

Who will step up to make buckets for the Nets?
Everyone's favorite Marshon Brooks

Anthony Morrow coming off crazy screens
7 votes
Deshawn Stevenson finding his mid-range game

Kris Humphries getting in shape then becoming poor man's Boozer for Deron (speaking of which, seems like he has been "booz-ing it up" lately)
9 votes
Damion James becoming a strong post up player or face-up shooter/driver (kinda like Z-Bo) (Okur will give him more space to attack)
9 votes
Jordan Farmar creating and being more aggressive as a scorer from the PG position
2 votes
Shawne Williams becoming the poor man's Kevin Durant (long lanky, quick release)

Nobody...we're just gonna have to play that much better defense (and hustle for loose balls and rebounds)

NetsDaily Could Clippers trade help Net D-12?

Ever since the Lakers trade for CP3 got vetoed by the NBA, everyone has said the Lakers would get D-Howard.

When the Clippers finally got CP3, everyone keeps saying the Lakers will definitely get D-Howard.

But, what if the trade of CP3 to the Clippers, helps us?

Maybe D-Howard wanted to play with an elite PG more than anything. Maybe He was on his way to LA LA land with CP3.

------------------------------------------------

Lotta hypothetical assumptions there...but...if CP3 can revitalize the Clippers and turn LA into Clipper-land for a bit, is this a good sign of things to come for when the Nets go to Brooklyn?

Just like CP3 adding to the Blake Show is giving the Clippers buzz and legitimacy...

could D-12 joining Deron give the Nets buzz and legitimacy?

Maybe Laker Land will be Clipper Land and Knicks Nation will become Nets Nation.

I forgot where else I read it, but the Angels are more prominent than the Dodgers. The Clippers are overtaking the Lakers. Maybe it's time for the Nets to overtake the Knicks!

NetsDaily Patience is a virtue...

With the team we have now...we are on a 5 game win streak.

Why rush to sign so many other guys, especially who are expensive?  If it ain't broke, why fix it?

While this doesn't mean we are a team capable of 82-0 or even necessarily a 50 win team...I think the way the team is constituted...it is a playoff team (in the East) and even a .500 team

Look how the team has improved, with the coaching staff and especially D-Will as a leadership catalyst.

While it is fun to look at potential pickups, in my opinion, they are not smart maneuvers.

I think we need to make medium signings, and leave flexibility for 2012.

This doesn't mean do nothing and leave all our space, but leave some of it, so we can be flexible to make a trade and then easily sign a max contract.

I personally, like the idea of signing AK47 as a starting 3.  I think it's a good fit.  From there, we can find a backup SG and backup PF either in the draft or by signing someone for CHEAP (less than 3 million a year).

Why pay even 5mill for a backup SG when we have morrow, and we like to play 2 PG's in the backcourt.  It also seems like Gaines can also guard the 2 and thus play the backup 2 position for us.

In terms of PF.  Humphries has shown he can start.  He is a good fit and only getting more impressive.  Petro is a decent backup C (especially defensively).  We can also play outlaw or AK47 at the 4.  Therefore why waste money on a PF?

I think with AK47 and a couple rookies.  This Nets could win 45-50 games.  And set themselves up to sign a nice FA piece in 2012.  Reminder, D-Will just joined us, and our team is young and able to improve.

NetsDaily Brooklyn Empire - Best Name

I don't know if this is an old topic about the team name.

But i feel like the Brooklyn Empire would be a very fitting name.

  • Jay - Z - Empire State of Mind
  • Gives it a New York feel
  • Also has a "bad-ass" feel to it (which the Nets could use), use music like the Star Wars Imperial march.

What have been the best suggestions so far?

And any updates about what the Nets are looking to do?

Big Blue View Jahvid BEST - Player Available...

Jahvid Best might be the best player available when it is the Giants turn to draft at pick 15.

He's probably the #1 playmaker in the draft.  A la Percy Harvin.  Who fell a lot, if we re-did the 2009 draft, would be a top 5 pick.

And running back is a big question mark for us...Jacobs, Bradshaw, Brown are all coming off injury.  Ware hasn't proven anything.

At the very least, Best, can be utilized like Reggie Bush.  He had the fastest 40 time at RB.  He can catch the ball out of the backfield, maybe even moved into the slot.  If he didn't get hurt in 2009, his value would probably be even higher.  (see the diff. between his 2009 and 2008 film)

I think our offense sorely needs a playmaker.  A guy who, when he touches the ball, is a threat to take it to the house everytime.  We really haven't had a guy in the backfield who was great in open space, off screens.  And he could also run the deep route, a la Brian Westbrook.

Given, if McClain or Dan Williams are available...we might have to go with those guys...but i think we can still find good value at DT or LB in the 2nd/3rd round.  I like Angerer...heard he has great cover skills...something u need more and more in this current pass-heavier NFL.
