Utah Utes Name Co-Offensive Coordinators
Utes name co-offensive coordinators
Dirk FacerDeseretNews.com blogger | Jan. 17, 2009 at 11:51 a.m. When it came to finding a new offensive coordinator, Utah coach Kyle Whittingham decided two heads were better than one.
On Saturday, he announced that receivers coach Aaron Roderick and running backs coach Dave Schramm will share the duties. Both coaches have been with Whittingham since 2005. They'll replace Andy Ludwig, who is now the offensive coordinator at Kansas State.
“Aaron and Dave have already been very involved in our game planning and play calling,” Whittingham said in making the announcement. “To keep good coaches in your program, you need to be ready to advance them when opportunities come along. Aaron and Dave are outstanding coaches and they both have a lot to offer to the program. They work very well together and they are ready to direct our offense as the co-coordinators.”
Roderick will serve as the passing game coordinator and coach Utah's quarterbacks. He'll also handle the play calling duties on game day.
Schramm is the run game coordinator and will continue to coach the running backs and serve as recruiting coordinator.
Utah's coaching staff still has two vacancies, presumably someone to coach the offensive line and some to oversee the receivers. <!--[if !IE]> Vignette V6 Sat Jan 17 13:46:30 2009 <![endif]-->
BCS DECLARES GERMANY WINNER OF WORLD WAR II - US Ranked 4th
After determining another year of championship game participants, the BCS computers were put to work on other major contests and today the BCS declared Germany to be the winner of World War II.
"Germany put together an incredible number of victories beginning with the annexation of Austria and the Sudetenland and continuing on into conference play with defeats of Poland, France, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Belgium and the Netherlands. Their only losses came against the US and Russia; however considering their entire body of work--including an incredibly tough Strength of Schedule--our computers deemed them worthy of the #1 ranking."
Questioned about the #4 ranking of the United States the BCS commissioner stated "The US only had two major victories--Japan and Germany. The computer models, unlike humans, aren't influenced by head-to-head contests--they consider each contest to be only a single, equally-weighted event."
German Chancellor Adolph Hitler said "Yes, we lost to the US; but we defeated #2 ranked France in only 6 weeks." Herr Hitler has been criticized for seeking dramatic victories to earn 'style points' to enhance Germany's rankings. Hitler protested "Our contest with Poland was in doubt until the final day and the conditions in Norway were incredibly challenging and demanded the application of additional forces."
The French ranking has also come under scrutiny. The BCS commented " France had a single loss against Germany and following a preseason #1 ranking they only fell to #2."
Japan was ranked #3 with victories including Manchuria, Borneo and the Philippines.
Yes, I am still bitter. Utah should have been #1. But yes, we will move forward, and sooner or later a National Championship is in Utah's future...
