Edit: Just realized this a link to EZ. I grabbed it unwittingly off of KK. If you're worried about viruses or STD's, I wouldn't click through. That said, I'm going to go get examined.

An Interesting read. Helmet technology is getting better at preventing brain injuries, except concussions. If this is the case, I bet Mueller's latest concussion would have happened even if he'd been wearing his not yet fitted M11.

With the game getting faster, if helmets aren't the answer, concussions may just be a part of the NHL. I don't see how you can regulate them out of the game. Research and tech to the rescue?

Interesting. I hope it results in producing some competitive fire in Anderson, whose attitude has seemed alarmingly nonchalant even if he is playing with a nagging injury.

Hello. I'm a bit curious as to your thoughts on this trade, and what we can expect out of Hunwick. The above link is to the thread where we have been discussing it.

Some background on events leading to the fight, caught it off of Shane's Avstalk site

Buried in the linked live chat, Justin Bourne calls out Hannan. Bourne, a blogger I enjoy and whose opinions I respect, claims that he's just playing for the cash. I would never put it this way, but I do think he could be doing more out there. I always think back to the way he handled Foppa.

Behind the net looks at which teams take the longest/shortest shifts. The shortest shift data is bimodal, split almost exclusively between the Avs and the Adjectives. The longest shift data is scattershot, and mostly eastern teams.

A conversation is brewing about rink bias and altitude that I found interesting. If anyone in the know could share why the team tends to use shorter shifts I'd love to know.

Mile High Hockey 08-09 vs 09-10 Blown and Stolen Games

I was reading the thread on Theodore's consistency over at Japer's Rink (BTW - pure coincidence on the names here, I had the name first... HE should really change it)  While reading the thread and comments, I saw the below criteria that Hockey Analyst uses to identify both blown and stolen games.

Stolen Games: a game in which the team scored 2 or fewer goals, allowed 30 or more shots and won or a game in which the team scored 3 goals and allowed 35 or more shots and won.

Blown Games: a game in which the team scored 4 or more goals, allowed 25 or fewer shots but lost or a game in which the team scored 5 or more goals and allowed 26-30 shots, but lost.

I thought it would be of some interest to sort the last two seasons worth of games into these categories.  Do I believe these categories to be gospel?  No.  Have Avalanche net-minders stolen or blown games that aren't highlighted by these categories and their qualifiers?  Definitely.  Am I out of rhetorical questions?  Yes.

I found this pretty amusing. Though, on further thought, if his statistics were truly on point we'd see Trailor running away with spot number 1.

Interesting read on the Birdman, his past and race in the NBA. Incidentally, this site has great writing on an amazing variety of topics.

I'm cautiously optimistic that Kroenke's salary shedding is in the best interest of the club rather than his bottom line. I'm also almost always wrong.

I wish the best for Ryan Smyth in L.A..

Sadly, I saw this coming. I hope Dater's wrong.

I'll be short: I don't like this decision.
