Waggle Room Spanish and Evolution of Pornography...

Are just two of the four classes I'm enrolled in this summer.  BTW- the pornography class--not that interesting.  I fell asleep in the first day of class yesterday.

On a more interesting note, the U.S. Open has been all the buzz.  Which amateur am I cheering for?  Geez, I can't seem to decide.  Obviously, my three teammates, Sydnee Michaels, Tiff Lua, and Maria Jose Uribe.  However, I can't forget about my other buddies out there: Blumie, Kathleen, Walshe, Mina, Kim Kim,J Lee, and my new little trojan friend, Jennifer Song.

I, unfortunately, had a little mishap during the sectional qualifier.  Actually the whole qualifer was a mishap and I missed by 3 strokes.  Who knew that 9s could affect a scorecard so much?

Anyways, back to my prediction for Low Am...if everything I've read about the course is true, I'm going to look for Kim Kim and Blumie to do well; both are long and straight, which is great for this layout.  Kathleen Ekey and Cydney Clanton are two more long bombers that'll do great if they can putt and chip well (or as Momma Joh likes to call it, "doing the dishes").

I will be anxiously watching live scoring from my laptop while learning about pornography.  I hope you will all do the same...except without the porno part.

Waggle Room Hello? Hello?

Wow. This new site is crazy.  I guess it's been a while and I apologize. Tell me if I'm doing this wrong.  Anyways, I write this from St. Andrews, Scotland, where the wind blows almost as hard as Albuquerque.  Some highlights from the week so far were:

1.) My first and probably last ever press conference.  At one point, I completely zoned out and until I realized the awkward silence and the heads all swiveled towards me; I had no idea.  Luckily, I was able to take Amanda (Blumenherst's) answers and just twist them around to throw together an answer without knowing the question.  (Something I've perfected while writing college term papers.)  Needless to say, they won't be inviting me back.

2.) The prank war between the GB&I and the US teams.  Yesterday they stole our couch.  Apparently, today while Blu and I were in the press conference, the rest of the team was busy flipping over every chair and table in the GB&I team room.

3.) Food.  Yes, I've tried haggis.  Yes, I've tried black pudding.  Both were delicious.

4.) First class cabins from Newark to Edinburgh.  I basically took two of everything they offered.  Hot towels? Two please.  Coke? Two please.  Ice cream?  Ten please.

5.) Hitting 150 yard putts.  It's true, you can putt from everywhere.

6.) The Road Hole.  I practiced the Tom Watson chip that banks off of the stone wall behind on the green...and no, I did not pull it off successfully after 50 tries.  Although Kim Kim pulled it off the first time.

7.) The Jigger Inn.  A nice little pub next to the hotel.  They must have less than 3 tables in the whole joint.  Great place to have a Guinness though.

I'll try to steal internet access again to update, but if I don't get any luck....Cheerio!

Waggle Room Guess who's back...

back again...T-Joh's back....tell a friend...
Hello dear wagglers!  Just stopping by to check in.
So far, life has been uneventful.  Other than a load of schoolwork waiting for me after the University of Arizona tournament, and a couple balls that I donated to the cacti plains, nothing much has happened.
Our walk-ons have been telling people at school that the reason we played so horrifically was because we got food poisoning from El Pollo Loco...but that's a complete fallacy.  It was actually more from me trying to hit a left handed punch shot out of a bush from in between two rocks and proceeding to whiff the ball 4 times.  Yes, it was lovely.
But now that the Wildcat tourney is in the past, we look forward with optimism to the UCF tournament in Orlando.  The top 5 teams will all be there, and we've decided to lay off the El Pollo Loco for a while =)
Wish us luck!

Waggle Room BOOYA!

What a fantastic week.  And I'm not just referring to the delectable bowl of noodles I had with my assistant coach.  Although that in itself can pretty much brighten someone's day.

I finally got a new driver. A 9.5 degree Taylormade Burner that I've decided to name "Mac." (Ha Ha, get it? Burner/Bernie Mac?)I may call him Mac Daddy if he treats me well on the tee.

I got "the call" from the USGA.  They told me to keep it confidential until further notice, but I'm guessing by the Golfweek report, that further notice has been given.  And Yes, I WILL be sending the USGA a muffin basket.  Just not poppyseed--in case USGA officials start getting drug tested too.

And two weeks into the quarter, I've gotten my books for my classes...which is about three weeks earlier than usual. (Yes, I'm such an academic stud...studying seems so much easier when I get the books before midterms...what a concept!)

I'm anxiously counting down the days until I get to go "Down Unda'" with my good "mate" Alison Whitaker. Poor girl is sitting next to me the whole way from Los Angeles to Sydney. Luckily I'm bringing Jenga and maybe cheese puffs.

The only thing that could possibly bring me down is school work...Oh Sweet Nibblets! Which reminds me: Stats quiz tomorrow!

T-Joh OUT!

Waggle Room Adventures in Sebring

I originally signed up for the Harder Hall in an attempt to prove myself worthy of a spot on the Curtis Cup team that will be picked the week after the South Atlantic Ladies Amateur next week.

Little did I know about the week I was in for, after booking a last-minute flight and host family, since I got in from eighth on the waiting list.

I took a redeye to Orlando on New Years Eve. Go figure - my clubs got lost somewhere between Los Angeles and Orlando.

After recovering the clubs two hours later, I rented a PT Cruiser-like vehicle and trucked it down to Sebring. Maybe I trucked it a little too hard - a cop pulled me over, and asked for my license and registration, whereupon I burst into tears and proceeded to cry myself out of a speeding ticket. I'm actually quite proud. I never thought of myself as that type, but I definitely rose to the occasion.

One would think this would be enough excitement for one blog entry. However, the third day of the tournament, I went into the bathrooms after playing five holes and left my driver next to our 5th tee box. Two holes later, I realized I had forgotten it, and raced back in a cart to retrieve it. No luck.

As I hyperventilated and asked various spectators if they had seen it, 2006-2008 Curtis Cup Captain Carol Semple Thompson was teeing off and I'm sure I made a great impression, with my hair disheveled and shirt untucked.

I never did get my driver back, and ended up playing the remaining 13 holes trying to skull-draw my 3-wood (I still had 3-woods and rescues into the rest of the par fours).

Later, I ended up borrowing a driver from a nearby golf shop to use the final day. So R.I.P. Spike, wherever he may be. Can we all bow our heads for a moment of silence?

T-Joh OUT.

(Editor's note: Tiffany finished tied for fourth.)

Waggle Room Coming out of hibernation...

Hola amigos!  I realize that my postings on waggleroom are about as consistent as the whims of Tila Tequila- and for this, I apologize.

The final weeks of the quarter have been a long respite from golf...I have yet to touch the clubs in two and a half weeks, in part due to scrambling for finals and in part due to an attack of viral meningitis, which I am still getting over. I am currently in Westwood, yes for the first week of my winter break I am still at UCLA taking my finals a week late-courtesy of a note from the UCLA Emergency Medical Center.

My 21st birthday was a blast, to say the least, a John Mayer Concert surprise (thanks to Maria Jose) was accompanied by a pre-birthday dinner with Jane Park (who, by the way turned 21 on the 15th)...unfortunately, the rest of the evening was spent in the fetal position taking painkillers. (Gracias, Meningitis).

Anyways, I hope to give you all better updates come the New Year.  Happy Holidays! Ho Ho Joh!

P.S. If anyone else is in the same predicament as me, and is trying to procrastinate during the Holidays, elfyourself.com is a fantastic site which enables you to cut out faces of you and your friends and paste them onto dancing elves.  It is a hoot!

P.P.S. I would do the fantasy golf thing, if I could.  According to Coach, I would be violating some NCAA rule...petty, I know.

Waggle Room Greetings my gaggle of waggle roomers.

This is T-Joh once again reporting for duty.  This last couple of weeks have been pretty uneventful, other than the back-to-back-to-back all nighters I pulled for Econ 2.  Actually I probably tore out more than 30 pages of Econ notes and folded them into mini origami cranes and boats, rather than actually studying the notes.

I digress--my main objective for this post is to give some updates on my schedule for the next couple of months.  Although the UCLA fall season is wrapped up after the Hawaii tournament, the winter is a good chance to wind down, make some game changes, and maybe play a tournament or two.
I have the Silver Belle Arizona tournament coming up  end of December, followed by (hopefully) the Harder Hall Invitational in Florida--I'm about 6th on the waiting list for this tournament and hopefully 5 people will drop out due to a mysterious case of food poisoning, if all goes to plan (I kid! I kid!)
End of January, I fly "Down Under" for the Australian Women's Open.  Although I planned on staying another extra week for the ANZ Ladies Masters, apparently there's some disgusting ritual in school called midterms, as well as the Winter opener for UCLA golf-the Northrup Grumman Regional Challenge at Palos Verdes Golf Club.  Anyways, hope to have something exciting/interesting to write about real soon!
TJOH OUT!

Waggle Room Apologies

for the extended delay. ... once again, the T-Joh shirks her duties as cyber-geek =) Just kidding Stu! I'm sure you were uber cool and popular in high school (cough cough) =)

Anyways, I think I have good reason to have not been updating, seeing as though I've been living the gypsy golfer life for 3 weeks straight.

The Stanford tournament...well let's skip that one.  The only part we need to share is that the Bruins did NOT do well, and the T-Joh had to ride to San Fransisco Airport with the Blue Devils.  Not that Coach gave me the boot, but UCLA was flying out of San Jose, and I had to catch a flight to Houston with Blu.  To my astonishment, the did NOT strap me to the roof with bungee cords, in fact I had a blast sharing cupcakes with Alison Whitaker, and fondling Jennie Lee's ponytail.

The Spirit was held at Whispering Pines and the contestants all stayed in cabins on the campsite.  Yes, cabins...that means bunkbeds, trees, public showers and NO CELL PHONE RECEPTION.  It was pretty much an LA girl's worst nightmare.  But once I got over the oodles of nature and girl scout camp flashbacks, it wasn't half bad.  They had some fun activities like Luau night, Kareoke night, Western night, fishing, ping-pong, you name it...and once in a while, we played a little golf too.  I have to admit, the highlight was getting into a sumo suit and sumo wrestling Blu.  Not only did she beat me, she absolutely humiliated me.  I'm talking belly-flop, wedgie throw, backflip status.  Seriously, not only does she have to have a perfect GPA, and be the best collegiate golfer in the nation, she has to be great at sumo-wrestling too...the ONE thing that I thought I could beat her at...I am asian afterall, it should be in the genes...Speaking of genes, Momma and Poppa Joh finally answered for all those watching, why Tiffany is so uncoordinated, as they played foosball with Poppa Blu and Captain Alli Jarrett. Let's say the Joh duo looked like 2 Baboons trying to program HDTV.

Blu and I didn't quite ham and egg it like we wanted to, we counted a double the first day with best ball and oodles of bogeys over the course of the next three days.  Our team (Us+Peter Uihlein and Cory Whitsett) ended up 3 strokes short of England.  The boys and Blu played solid, unfortunately the T-Joh wandered the woods looking for her balls and admiring the vegetation instead of sinking birdies on the last day. Still the week was a blast and I will forever be singing the Olympia camper of the day song in the shower. (Sadly, I'm NOT kidding.)

Right after the Spirit, I embarked on the 9.5 hour journey to Honolulu, Hawaii.  My face is still chapped from the 35 mph winds that battered our team for 54 holes.  The traveling coupled with the fact that my South African roommates at the Spirit had some strange cough, left the T-Joh a not-so-happy and sick camper.  After the 36 holer the first day, the 18 hole shotgun start seemed to last forever.  Coach started circling with her cart and slipping me milky ways and snicker bars to get me through the round, even then, I sat down  between every shot, even the putts, since afterall, reading greens is TOTALLY overrated. =)

Anyways, Wednesday night we took a red-eye back to L.A., and I realized that going to class straight from the plane is just about the worst form of torture that Satan can inflict on someone.  Whew! This was a marathon.  I'm going to let y'all chew on this one for a while. T-Joh OUT!

Waggle Room Hola Amigos!

Once again, I come pathetically crawling back to the Dub-room after a long hiatus.

How can I possibly condense the last month into a short paragraph interesting enough to hold the attention span of a squirrel with ADHD:

  • The Stanford tournament is this week, afterwards I hitch a ride with the Duke team to the San Fransisco Airport, since my team flies out of San Jose, and I embark for the Spirit Int'l with Amanda Blu. They're going to try to fit in two coaches, 5 team-members, one individual and the T-Joh.  Lord help me if they decide to strap me to the roof with bungee cords.
  • I fly straight from Stanford->Texas->Hawaii.  I miss 12 days of school, 2 midterms, 2 quizzes and the Cal football game.
  • It's 1:57AM and I'm writing a waggleroom entry.  How dedicated am I?
  • Lorena won---again.
  • I hate Macroeconomics, especially at 2 in the morning.
That is all. T-Joh-OUT!

Waggle Room Clean Version.

Vanderbilt Video sans the bad words.

To the three waggleroom peeps who couldn't see the video...sorry, I realized that I used an unedited version of the song "Remember the Name." (I'm such a rebel...I know.)

Anyway, here's a clean version, so yes...it is G rated, and you can feel free to watch it with your pet hamster and a large pack of Uh-Oh oreos, if it suits your fancy.

Waggle Room OK OK--I know

Shut up already about the UCLA win at Vanderbilt--not like the football team is doing that good or anything--as evidenced by the beating they took from Utah. (What? UTAH???)

But I, being the camcorder dork that I am, compiled a mini-video from Vanderbilt that I uploaded onto Youtube.com... (My social life points are going down by the second)... I thought the team was going to throw the camcorder in the water hazard on 18 by the end of the week...I definitely wore their patience thin.

Anyways, have a looksie--if you have time...

Waggle Room FINALLY!

The end to a year and a half long winless drought!

Not to toot my own Bruin horn, but while Amanda Blumenherst ran away with the individual title, the UCLA women's golf team ran away with the team title.
Not that I've been keeping track, but it's been approximately 16 months and 21 days since our last win.
That is all, you may now return to your regularly scheduled programming.

Waggle Room Sarah-ndipity

So, the other day, I'm just real quick chillin' at this range at home on the putting green...and some Korean chick comes up and wants to have a putting competition for an ice cream...Needless to say, after 36 holes, I owed her 3 ice cream bars (darn automatic presses!)
Later on, we get around to talking and I find out that she's from Australia, and is in the states for a while to get ready for Q school first stage in Palm Springs...Anyways, I came home and did a little (stalkerish) research online, figuring that she was probably on SeoulSisters.com...turns out she's none other than Sarah Oh, a top-ranked amateur in Australia.  Coolio.  Just thought that was pretty cool. T-Joh OUT!

Waggle Room I write this via Wi-Fi connection at the airport...

Today was a pretty good day, aside from a few blemishes like 3-putting the last hole, and getting a tummyache from too much free apple pie at lunch ... no complaints.

I would say the highlight was watching my good friend In-Bee Park scurry up the leaderboard en route to an 8-under 64, and being reunited with my partner in crime, Jane Park.

All in all, the week was a blast. I never got to go up to Christina Kim and tell her what a big fan I am (I chickened out when I saw her putting on the practice green), but hopefully I will have another opportunity to tell her about my secret life in which I silently semi-stalk her in. =P

Anyways, thanks for reading, (yep all three of you!) For the final time out of Portland, Oregon ... T-Joh--OUT!

Waggle Room Highlights

  • Getting props on the putting green from Cristie Kerr for the blog =)
  • Bouncing back from a double bogey after leaving it in the bunker with a chili-dipped bunker shot
  • Mongolian grill down the street for dinner (this isn't really relevant, but it was really good)
  • Wearing my trucker hat that says "The T.Joh" on it in graffiti letters
  • Watching Lorena on the scoreboard go deeper, and deeper, and deeper...
  • Spending time with Angela Park whom I haven't spent 18 holes since we flipped a golf cart in Florida.
That's all I got for now, but hopefully more updates!

In the words of Lorena, Maria Jo, and any other Spanish speaking person: "Hasta Luego!"

TJoh-Out!

Waggle Room Another day, another dollar...

LOST!

I definitely lost two dinners to In-Bee Park and Angela Park in a putting contest. Apparently they won't accept PB&J sandwiches a la T.Joh from the locker room, or 99 cent tacos.

On another note, I'm ridiculously relieved that the date with the Wie circus is over, as much as I enjoyed camera clicks, people walking to the next tee while trying to tap in my par putt, and contorting my body out of the way so people could get a better view of the Wie-zer ...

Actually, the majority of the people were really awesome, clapping even when I'd toe-shank a shot that managed to stay on the green.

Kim Hall, who graduated from Stanford, was a true sweetheart and she gave loads of advice to Michelle, on where the good dining halls are, the clean showers, etc.

I tried to contribute my penny's worth - machine washing ALL laundry cold so you don't have to bother with sorting.

Although the round started pretty solid with a birdie and 9 straight pars, my round was derailed by a double bogey from the middle of the fairway with a gap wedge. I never quite recovered, but I figured while people are elbowing their way through the crowd to get a good view of Michelle Wie, I had front row seats!

I'm outside the cutline, but hopefully I'll be able to write some good news tomorrow.

T.Joh - OUT!

(Note: Tiffany tees off at 2 p.m. Portland time on Saturday, playing with Angela Park and Meaghan Francella. -- Stu)

Waggle Room Guess what!

I talked to Juli Inkster today...it was pretty amazing, she accidently took my spot on the range, but I totally didn't care.

I also saw Natalie Gulbis for the first time this week...yes, she's really hot in person as well.

Oh yea, and by the way, I'm playing with the Wiesy, but no worries, I'm hoping to win her over with my "T-Joh Charm." =P(stop laughing, I'm serious!)

Peace easy!

Waggle Room Day 2 at the Safeway

This may be the last post for a few days, the amount they charge for a few minutes on the internet these days! Sheesh! Anyways, cool things that happened today:

  • Played a practice round with Cristie Kerr and Meaghan Francella for nine holes, then played with Jamie Hullet for the last nine. All three of them were uber nice.
  • Was so awestruck by Nancy Lopez in the locker room that I walked into a door while staring at her.
  • Was so stoked about the pure putting green that I stayed on there for more than I should've and now my left hand is permanently in a Jim Carrey style claw mold.
  • Saw Lorena Ochoa out for a run while driving back to the hotel.
  • Saw Lorena Ochoa hitting balls on the range.
  • Saw Lorena Ochoa.
  • Ate a delicious white chocolate chip Macadamia nut cookie...it really was delicious.
Hope to update soon!

Waggle Room My apologies

for the long posting doldrum...

This week, I'm in the field at the Safeway Classic in Oregon.  Today was the second practice round...highlights from the last two days:

1. Getting tackled on the green from behind by Jane Park, who I haven't seen in 8 months

2. Seeing Pat Hurst walking across the putting green

3. Putting on the same practice green as Cristie Kerr, who appeared to be experimenting with several different models of putters...like she really needs to change her putting...

4. Hospitality tents are AMAZING!  I think I ate about 37 granola bars and I'm not gonna lie, I smuggled a large bag of honey mustard pretzels into my golf bag, which I'm pretty sure was just for display.

5. Seeing Wiesy walk onto the grounds with her entourage and staring shamelessly with my mouth agape. (She's waaay taller in person)

6. The sandwich table in the locker room...yes, I smuggled a couple PB&Js as well...

7. Walking clueless around the parking lot trying oh-so-hard not to look like a complete fish out of water, but serendipitously parking next to a former UCLA bruin who helped me find my way to registration.

I'll try to update as much as I can. Wish me love!

Waggle Room Yes, yes, I know...

It's been too long...but it's been a busy month--Colombia, midterms, finals, and the Women's amateur looming menacingly on the horizon of my near future.
The only thing getting me through this tornado of a Thursday is the live scoring updates from the US Girls Junior.
Of those still in it, I'd have to think that Kim Kim, Stephanie Kono, and Mina Harigae are favorites--although, as I write this, Mina is all square through 16 with Ayaka Kaneko.

USGirlsJunior.org

Everyone should check it out...if not for the scoring updates, at least for the storylines...sometimes there's some interesting stuff there.  I once wrote on the media sheet that I had an underground career as a teddy bear wrangler.

Waggle Room Just a quick respite before I jet off to take yet another final

University of Texas' recent hire: former Vanderbilt coach Martha Freitag.

http://www.texassports.com/index.php?s=&url_channel_id=24&url_article_id=6860&url_subcha nnel_id=&change_well_id=2

Wow, boy are the Longhorn ladies lucky. (That's some awesome alliteration right there.)

Martha is a CATCH!
She's a great coach, who knows a lot about the game, and has a great sense of humor...plus, I've seen her do cartwheels after watching one of her players make eagle. (Literally)

Waggle Room Tests, Tendonitis, and Other Tribulations

A whirlwind week is about to begin--and I can cut the tension with a plastic knife swiped from Mickey D's.  In addition to two finals and one paper within the next 6 days, there are also 36 holes of U.S. Open qualifying to look forward to at Lake Merced G.C., which I like to call- Hell's Hurtin' Horde o' Holes.  Many a tear has been shed on that golf course by the T. Joh, which is probably why the rough is so thick and the trees so lush.
Anyways, after the qualifier, I fly back to good ol' L.A., only pull an all-nighter for my two finals the next day.

Wrist injuries seem to be all the rage these days.  With a double wrap on my left wrist, sans golf for a week and a half, I can't wait to O.D. on ibuprofen and have hallucinations of purple and green polka dot flamingos out on the course.
I drove back to San Diego earlier this week for an acupuncture session with someone regarded as the "Numero Uno de Needle-jabbing" at our Korean church.  What people failed to tell me is that she works out of her kitchen area.  Shady?  I think so!

Imagine this scenario: The acupuncturist is having an open house.  An All-American, white-picketfence family comes in to see the house; there I lay in the middle of the lady's kitchen with a plethora of needles throughout my back, arm, and leg.  "Nice weather today, huh?"
Awkward.  Sadly, this is actually a true account and yes--I was mortified.

Waggle Room So much for skeptics...so far...

Esther Choe came in 2nd by one stroke in her first Futures Tour tournament.  Playing as an amateur, she bogeyed her final hole to shoot 72, and 213 (-3) for the tournament.
Sophie Andersson, who played for UC Berkeley, as well as a former member of the Swedish National Team, won the tournament, closing with a 70 to finish at 212 (-4).
What? First tournament jitters?

Waggle Room I got called out in discussion today...

4 P.M. discussion with only 12 other people is probably the worst place to be watching the golfweektv Livefeed from the Men's National Championships.  But, when I heard that Duke's Michael Schachner was 11 under through 14 holes, and only needed to par out to shoot 59, a new NCAA record, I couldn't resist.

So although I suffered the humiliating experience of having the teaching assistant come up from behind me and ask me a question, knowing I'd be caught red-handed, it was worth it.
I nervously cracked pistachios, as Schachner stood over his 15 foot putt for his 59, and when he burned the right edge, silently cried inside.

But, still well worth the summer classes I will have to take after this T.A. fails me.
Kudos to Schachner for flirting with NCAA history, as well as to Stanford, for holding on to their 2 shot lead over Coastal Carolina's Chanticleers.

TJ out!

Waggle Room I can just picture it...

Amanda, Jennie, Dolf, Whitaker, and Anna--frolicking in the open fields of the Duke University Club with their wedges, while Dan skips merrily in the background clutching the NCAA championship trophy, and here I am, in the lecture hall--preparing for the one thing that makes me shake in my sandals more than an afternoon tee time with Blumenherst--Finals.

Ahh, the beauty of the quarter system.

On another note, since I'm not paying attention in lecture anyway, has anyone gone to golfweektv.com to see the footage of the senior skits?
My favorite was Anna's imitation of Dan Brooks, and Hannah (Jun)'s imitation of Coach Forsyth is dead on.

...And back to the drudgery...

Waggle Room Schizophrenic golf

Amanda Blumenherst of Duke University shot a 37 on the front nine yesterday during the 3rd round of the NCAAs.
These were her hole by holes:

par-birdie-triple bogey-birdie-par-double bogey-birdie-par-birdie

Christel Boeljon played a consistent and solid round of 69 again in windy conditions.
With a swing and demeanor like hers, unless Blu has another super-deep round like regionals, or Paola Moreno, Lewis, or Conc-shell mount a hugeriffic charge, I see a possible runaway win in the near future.

(Re-Caps to come)

Waggle Room What's the Dealio, Yo?

Esther Choe becomes the 5th AJGA Rolex Player of the Year to turn professional.
This was after she had already signed with University of Arizona.
Talk about tough noogies...Coach Greg Allen had already been through this deal with Julieta Granada...Perhaps it's not a great idea to recruit the number 1 player in each class after all?

"There's got to be more honesty from these players." says U of A coach Greg Allen.

Read Beth Ann Baldry's article in golfweek:
http://www.golfweek.com/juniors/story/choe_news_051407

[Update] On another note, does anyone else remember the Golf Digest article with a photo sequence of Esther's swing along with Phil Francis'?

There was a 3 page spread on Esther's success in the junior ranks and two pages later...BAM!
There was Hank Haney's article encouraging talented young golfers to forego college if they wanted to be successful in the professional ranks.

http://www.golfdigest.com/features/index.ssf?/features/gd200703haney.html

Look closely at the girl's hand in the photo...Yes, that is an Arizona Wildcat temporary tattoo...weird.

Waggle Room OK 2nd one, I swear I'll stop after this one...

What's the dealio with all the coaching shuffles?
I'm sure several of ya'll have heard about the recent resignation of Georgia Dawgs coach Todd McCorkle.  It's pretty strange to have some resign so suddenly right before post-season play, especially someone with a coaching record as good as McCorkle's; so what's the scoop?

I wish I could tell you.  The Georgia girls have done a pretty good job of keeping their mouths clamped tightly shut.  However, fear not gossip queens and tabloid tootsies, the university has just completed an investigation on the situation and hopes to release the information on Monday.

In addition to Georgia, these are the other schools scrambling to find coaches for the upcoming year:
Texas, Texas A&M, New Mexico, Mississippi, Minnesota, Tulane, South Florida, East Carolina.

More information about the Georgia situation is covered in Beth Ann Baldry's article in Golfweek:

Waggle Room Goddess Blu

I have decided to shave my head, wear a burlap sack and devote the rest of my life to the goddess also known as Amanda Blumenherst.
For 15 holes she didn't have a single 4 on her card, alternating instead between 2's, 3's and one or two 5's.
The standard bearers really didn't help, as I'd watch the sign boy take out the next red number before she even hit her 25 foot birdie putt.
At one point, I recall looking over at Mandy from Wake Forest and asking: "Dude, do you feel like you're, like, 30 over par too?"
To which she replied: "Honey, I feel like I'm 45 over par."

Anyways, it was an honor and a privilege to witness that flawless round of 63 by Ms. Blu.  It was like having free front row seats to a birdie slaughter...

Waggle Room NCAA Regionals

The scent of sweet spring flowers delicately hangs in the air, coaches scramble to schedule their flights for summer recruiting, and student-athletes dust off their textbooks just in time for finals...yes, post-season MUST be here!

Noon Monday was when "The Call" was made.
Definition: The Call (n.)-the one moment that makes or breaks the year of a golf team, the instant in which programs receive their regionals bid, or find a high cliff to drive off of.

The top three seeds are:
Arizona State (West)--Utah
Georgia (Central)--Michigan
Duke (East)--Louisiana

For complete field/seed listing:

The West region appears to be quite strong this year, with Pepperdine, Florida, Oklahoma State, BYU, Stanford, and Sun Belt Conference Champions Denver University.

Now, I may be a little biased in my predictions, but I'm hoping for UCLA's Bru(W)in golfers to stage a good showing in Baton Rouge, against top teams Duke, Auburn, Purdue, and Texas A&M. =)

Love & Light,
TJ
