Last year's discussion on leadership...
All the stuff with this team reminds me of a discussion we had last year about leadership. Many here said "leadership" was nebulous, overrated, etc., etc., etc. How 'bout now?
I can't help but wonder why in the world JJ, as a Senior QB of the #3 team in the nation, would be out at a bar after a team-imposed curfew. Why didn't he or someone else tell everyone to get back to their rooms? If Kelvin Sheppard was still here, would he have?
I know every young person is due to make some mistakes, but this just absolutely cannot happen. And with some "LEADERSHIP", it wouldn't have.
Next Time...
Let's try to understand the difference between a BCS opponent and rent-a-win.
Case in point:
"In fact, Peterson was out of the game on the 97-yard touchdown pass by T.J. Yates to Jheranie Boyd because he said LSU defensive backs coach Ron Cooper wanted to get some of the younger guys in the game.
“I guess he thought we had a comfortable lead,” Peterson said."
For everyone out there who wonders why everyone here gets so upset about coaching, this is what we're talking about.
We gave up more yards than in any game in 2008.
Yes, that includes Troy, South Carolina, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, Ar-Kansas, Alabama, Georgia, and gulp, FLORIDA.
We've got 4-5 stars all over the field, including two in the secondary. All they've heard this summer was that they underperfomed last season. But hey, they were always confused out there because of the co-coordinatorism. So three guys got fired. We got a new coordinator. The defense was supposed to be ready to make a statement. What was it?
We played better in the second half, and it gets us by. But I'm telling you, by the second half of games we play later this season the games will be over.
Who's the leader out there on Defense?
