Finally going to a game(first one since RJ and VC were still here!) and I am looking for something mid court. There are a few options I see on Stubhub in the 50$ range for the mid upper levels, looks to be about halfway in. Anyone have anything to say about this area? Im wondering if its worth the extra 15$ to get a few rows lower, or just go with the super cheap 35$ set and the top.

So, while watching the Utah telecast of the game tonight, the announcers(who are awful btw) talked about how if Dwill leaves then that trade that brought him to us will be looked at as one of the worst trades ever. This is a pretty popular statement that I have heard on radio, TV, Twitter, and yes even on NetsDaily.com. I couldn't agree LESS, and here is why...

Just looking at the big "important" pieces, lets see. We get Deron Williams, who brought not that many wins, and a lot of frustration, but just his presence gave us the serious hope of improvement via free agency. He is a draw. We failed, and he might bolt, but what would we look like if he hadnt ever became a Net? Devin Harris wasnt going to take us anywhere, and he was rumored on the trading block for Utah all season. I spent half my NetsDaily chat trying to relax people about Harris, saying yeah he stinks, but its all we have. We weren't going anywhere with him, but people hated him!

OK then we have our 3rd pick in the draft, Derick Favors. A dud.

Alright then we have our 2011 pick that went to them. Ironically again #3. Just like we missed out on Wall in 2010, unless we had the #1 pick, this is another pick that really is nothing but a dud. We wouldn't have picked Kanter, but who else that could turn us into a winning team anytime in my lifetime was early in that draft? We made out better then actually having that pick with Brooks anyway.

So Really, why was it a bad trade if Dwill goes?

So in a question totally unrelated to the publicity the Nets are getting right now in the media, I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the deal(if there is one) that the Nets have with... well... just about anyone as far as showing footage of them is concerned.

I just watched the trailer for the NBA2k12 iPad game, and it was filled with a majority of Nets footage, and I ALWAYS see the Nets included in any sort of footage when a TV station needs to show footage of a specific player. Usually its of some FA or something like that dunking on the Nets or what have you, so at first though one might think its just because all of the footage of people playing well is VS us, but I dont know, I sure to see a lot of YES footage. I am wondering if teams charge for footage and the Nets just come cheaper? Either way, I feel like they take up a vast amount of viewing time.

Anyone?

So if anyone saw the Dirk pres conference after the Mavs won it all, we saw him talk a lot about coaching, and its importance. Dirk cited Rick Carlisle's decision to play or bench players at certain times. Peja was big in the playoffs prior to the finals, but Carlisle's knowledge to sit him and take him out of the series was obviously huge. Then there was a lot of talk about teams being put together being like a puzzle, and the Mavs had the better puzzle. Well as we learned, not only is the overall roster a puzzle, but in each series, there needs to be a different puzzle to match up with different teams. A coach needs to know when to put JJ Barea in the game, or Brian Cardinal! At the same time, Dirk also specifically mentioned that Carlisle allowed the Mavs to keep the defensive principals that Avery installed in them, but Carlisle gave Kidd more offensive freedom, allowing him to control the offense and push the ball sometimes. First off, I find it good that our coach was given some defensive credit for winning Dallas a ring. The D on the big 3 was fantastic. At first we should be worried that Avery couldn't do it because his strangle hold was too tight, but if you all remember, as soon as we got Deron we saw that he let go of the old Avery. I think he finally realized that if he wants to win, he has to let a great PG run the show out on the court from time to time. It was a big deal at the time, and it was as if he realized he was wrong in the past.

Is it enough to take us deep into the playoffs if we get a few more pieces? Or will Avery revert to his old ways? Only time will tell, but so far from what I see, so far so good. I am hopeful.

So I keep hearing about a commercial being ran every game of the finals, but they sadly dont air it here in Boston. I looked on Youtube as well, and no luck. Is this a rumor or is it the real deal? I dont know what to think, on one hand we have a super rich awesome owner, on the other hand... I dont see it anywhere!

Does anyone know where I can see this? Or is it fake?

What is wrong with you booers out there? I get it, he is not that good(not that he doesn't try, he just doesn't have it), his contract is even worse, but you are not doing a single thing for this basketball team, or the free agents that are looming in the waters. It really is pathetic. Do you think that booing will actually accomplish anything? Do you think Avery will come to some sudden epiphany? Has it EVER worked in the NBA before? It would be one thing if booing actually caused a coach to do something, but that wouldn't make much sense for a coach to appease a crowd like that. We have one of the smallest, worst crowds in the NBA, where we are trying to attract stars, stars who are used to playing in ruckus arenas with a great crowd as a 6th man(especially in Utah), and you guys are going to give the visiting team a 6th man at home!??!? Do you not understand the psychology on the essence of crowd support? Outlaw is going to be here for at LEAST the remainder of this season, I think it would do us all good to give him some confidence, because the booing isnt doing anyone any good.

For the sake of the players, for the sake of the players we are trying to attract to our team in the off season, I beg of you, stop booing the home team! It accomplishes nothing!

So I was thinking about how popular this site is(or appears to be), and I was wondering if there were any statistics to show where it ranks among the other teams sites? On one hand, we are the immensely unpopular NJ Nets, but on the other hand I feel like breaking 1000 comments a post on a regular basis is a crazy amount! By that logic the Lakers would have like 10,000 per post!

Is there anything to show where we as the NetsDaily community rank compared to those other guys?

The "Untouchables."

So after what seems to be confirmation that Brook Lopez is in fact going to remain "untouchable" in any new trade, I would like to offer my opinion on who in this league is untouchable for each team. Before we start here, I would also like to submit my view on what an untouchable is. To me, an untouchable is a player who is so good that you would be crazy to move them. This is also relative(see Detroit) because some players might become untouchable when paired with other players. This also assumes that an organization actually handles players in a smart manner, because you could always trade an untouchable for another untouchable if the mix of players then becmoes more cohesive.

I am sure this list is to be met with controversy, especially around NY, Miami, and NJ, but they are just my opinions, so here we go:

Dallas - Dirk Nowitzki. I have been convinced to change my opinion here. Dirk is the best shooting 7 footer to play the game. He hasn't won, and often crumbles under playoff pressure, but he is an incredible piece to build around. Something has to be said about being loyal to the franchise also. This is a tough call though because he so good in name, but has fell short many times when the team needed him most.

Houston - With Kyle Lowry really putting on a strong showing, that kind of makes Aaron Brooks a pretty good trade chip wouldn't you say? This is a team that has a lot of good talent, but no game changers. If I were the Rockets, I would probably make Battier the closest thing to an untouchable, but if the right deals come along, everyone can be moved here.

Memphis - Rudy Gay, Marc Gasol. Finally we have some clear cut untouchables. If you're the Grizzlies you want to do everything you can to build around those 2 guys. Gasol is a very talented center who does it all with no glaring flaws. He can also use his left hand almost as good as his right. The problem with the Grizzlies is that they seem to just be amassing talent just to amass talent, there is no blue print for the team. They need to move some other pieces around and decide what type of team they want to run.

New Orleans - Chris Paul. This is a no brainier here. I don't see anyone else that cant be moved.

San Antonio - Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili. Now similar to Dallas, this team is old, but unlike Dallas, these players have won, and won a lot. Tim Duncan is the best PF of all time, but I would do whatever I could to hold onto Ginobili. This guy is a game changer, and should be in the running for MVP this year.

Denver - Carmelo Anthony. You need to do what you can to build your team around a talent like this. PG's like Chauncey Billups and Allen Iverson are not the answer if you ask me.

Minnesota - Kevin Love. This is one of the highest values untouchables on this list. He is showing this year what he can do when given minutes, and respect. The organization probably already screwed up, and if I were Love I would split the second I get the chance. He is not a pure scorer, but scores with hard work, and that is invaluable. You can build a team around a talented scorer and still count on a guy like Love to grab you 15 boards a game and work for points, and now he has added the long ball to his arsenal.

Oklahoma City - Kevin Durant, Russel Westbrook. Ibaka really hurts Jeff Green here. Is Ibaka able to play big minutes at the C spot? If so, I think you do whatever you can to keep the big 3 together here, but Green's #1 ability is to score, and with Durant and Westbrook you really don't need to label him an untouchable. Try, but I only see to clear cuts here.

Utah - Deron Williams, Paul Millsap. I think you need to do whatever you can to keep these 2 guys together. Deron is a no brainer, but Milsap is one of those guys again that can do it all. I highly value those type of players. Al Jefferson gets left out here, but he comes pretty darn close. For now he is just a very good piece.

Golden State - Stephen Curry. It will be interesting to see how they can build team around a pure shooter at the PG spot, but he is an incredible talent. Ellis and Lee are good pieces.

Los Angeles - Clippers - Blake Griffin. Have you seen him play? If not, you should be ashamed. He is going to revolutionize not only the PF, but every other position. The most explosive second jump I have ever seen. Eric Gordon is a great young player, but he needs to show me more. Are this years #'s a fluke, or will he play more like last year when they get a consistent PG? If he keeps up this play with the aggressive driving and dishing I would include him on that untouchable list.

Los Angeles - Lakers - Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol. Not much to say here. They are getting up there in age but still have a few good years left to build around.

Phoenix - Steve Nash. It looks like the window has closed here, but Nash will be a great scorer and an assisting machine until he retires. Its too bad for the Suns they seem to be incapable of keeping players to surround Nash with.

Sacramento - Tyreke Evans. Another interesting player that is an incredible talent, but not positive will ever be a winner. Cousins is a mess, and causing trouble everywhere he goes. I wouldn't think twice about shipping him off.

Washington - John Wall. If he can get his body right he is out of this world. Andray Blatche is a good individual player, but he will always be a good player on a bad team unless he can all of a sudden figure out that he plays on a team. Javale McGee is very athletic, and if he can ever learn to control his body more and stop trying to dunk from the FT line, I could see him being moved to the untouchable list.

Orlando - Dwight Howard. Dwight is the only real untouchable here, and his extreme athletic ability makes up for his lack of having a natural knack for basketball. This is a centerless league after all, and Dwight is the best.

Miami - Chris Bosh, Dwayne Wade, Lebron James. Bosh is not the best, but he is still a guy to build around. Remember its a team game. Speaking of team... Lebron James. Lebron is a terrible player, and an amazing talent. I feel like he has become to big for his own good. Crowned the King before his first NBA game. The Heat only started clicking when Wade took over, and when the Heat falter its usually because they revert back to Lebron ball where he usually slows the game down to a snails pace so he can go 1on1 and force up a putrid fade away lebrick. The key to Lebron is less about himself, and more about having coaches and player to surround him with that will make him play to his strengths. There is no way the most athletic guy in the league should not be sprinting up the court whenever he can. This is why the Cavs never won, and the Heat will not if they revert back to it. Never the less, he is clearly an untouchable, but handle with care.

Charlotte - Sorry Charlotte, maybe if MJ suited up again, but you have no untouchables. Gerald Wallace is a menace to society, and no player on the court is safe from injury when he is near by, including his own team, and even spectators.

Atlanta - Al Horford, Joe Johnson, Josh Smith. Now there is a problem here. These untouchables are all too close in position. You have the 2,3, and 4 spots filled with untouchables and the 1 and 5 with near nobodies. I have always been a firm believer in spreading out the talent/ability. There needs to be at least one spot in between(unless you have Lebron who really plays a good point man). All 3 guys are above average passers for their positions as well. Getting past that though, all 3 guys are great NBA players, and Josh Smith was flat out snubbed last year from the all star team.

Milwaukee - Andrew Bogut. A great center who does it all. I leave Brandon Jennings off the list, he is a scoring PG who cant shoot very well.

Indiana - Danny Granger. Granger can fill it up, and is very active on defense. He needs to be surrounded by a lot more though. Roy Hibbert is a good young center, but he needs to show some consistency. He has far to many stinkers to be an untouchable right now.

Detroit - Richard Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince. Talk about a mismanaged team. You have a hard worker do it all guy like Prince who can win you a game on both ends of the court, and you have the best off screen shooter in the league, and you mess that up? They are untouchable, especially together.

Cleveland - Sorry Cleveland. All good pieces, no untouchables.

Chicago - Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah, Carlos Boozer. This is what I was talking about with separating talent. Yeah they now have good 4 and 5's, but you have some distance with Rose being at the 1. Rose is Rose, Boozer can be great if he stays motivated and happy, and Noah is a great young Center who brings intensity, which is one of the most valuable assets.

Toronto - None. Sorry Andrea Bargnani, all you can do is score.

Philadelphia - Andre Iguodala. Man what ever happened to Elton Brand. A few years ago he would have been an instant lock for untouchable, now he is just another piece. Jrue Holiday doesnt impress me much, especially with the PG class being the most crowded. Iguodala is a multi talented SF who only has one flaw, which is his shot %.

New York - Raymond Felton, Amare Stoudemire, Wilson Chandler. This will cause some stir here on this board, but I even include Wilson Chandler as an untouchable. Chandler is one of those do it all guys that I just cant see replacing. He will win the game on both ends of the floor, and shoots at a great %. He has been consistent his whole career, and if he were on a team like the Nets last year I think he could have easily averaged 25 ppg. Amare is Amare, and I love Felton. People were bashing Felton from here to kingdom come when he was acquired by the Knicks, and he has done nothing but prove me right. On the Bobcats he did nothing but what he was asked by Larry Brown, and he is showing his versatility on the Knicks. If you throw out the small period of time where he was getting used to playing a completely different up tempo offense, he averages over 10 assists a game. He scores, has range, is a willing passer, and plays great D for his position.

Boston - Rajon Rondo, Paul Peirce, Kevin Garnett. Sorry Ray Allen, but you are just a very good addition to a team. Those other 3 untouchables are where the wins are going to come from. This is a perfect example again of why this is a team game. The big 3 had some luck, but nothing even close the luck when they put an entire team around them. Rondo is a great PG with great court vision, and a big mouth, which you need to motivate and lead.

New Jersey - ... Sorry to Nets fans(and me), but I see no clear cut untouchables here. I want to say Favors, but I have seen so many times a team think they have someone and hold on to them only to never have anything substantial develop. Especially with guys like Wall and Griffin out there, I dont want to gamble if I can get back a sure thing in return for a maybe/hopefully. I wouldn't just give him away, but I just don't want to label him untouchable. Brook is a fabulous scorer, who has never in his career shown me he can either play defense, or learn from his many mistakes. He is a good center in a centerless league, and league that sent Brad Miller to the Allstar game, and this year the selection of C's on in the West with Yao out is non existent. I see him as a good piece(depending on the surroundings obviously, like every other piece out there) and if he ever learned some more fundamentals He could definitely elevate himself to untouchable status.

Now the Job of the Nets is to go workout some deals in which we could steal some untouchables away from other teams who either don't know they have untouchables, or are too incompetent to actually do anything with them. I see A few options out there of teams that just aren't working well together and I don't see those organizations doing much about it. Hypothetically speaking, the best pairing I can see with a guy like Carmelo Anthony would be Kevin Love. These 2 players wouldn't do anything that would offset one another like what is happening on the Hawks for example, and they would both still put up numbers, and I think would both be better together.

Who better then me to make a post like this? I guess its my job. I sat through 2 full years of criticism being totally ignored, and ridiculed. Now its year 3, and the very same problems I have had with Brook are being intensified, mostly I think because he has become the complete focal point of the Nets. This is more about how does he fit on a Nets team, rather then just saying he stinks.

There has been a LOT of talk about Melo, obviously, and it still looks like the Nets want to deal for him, and the latest rumors still have Favors being a part of that. IF we get Melo through a Favors trade, I propose we will be worse off compared to a trade involving Brook. Lopez is our best player, but can he bring what a team will need from a #2 man? I don't see it, that's for sure. Brook has always shot ugly, but still good. It seems with more attention on him, those miracle ugly shots are not going in. Its a small sample size, but the past few games Brook has been either shut down, or forced into shots simply by the D keeping their hands straight up. A #2 guy on a team if coming from the Center position, should be someone who is a hard worker on the boards, can be athletic enough to get to the rim for easy buckets, and most importantly, he needs to be a defensive force in the paint. Brooks defense comes from just being tall(he is not very mobile/athletic) and he puts his hands up and gets some rejections, but this year more then ever, he is shying away from any sort of physical play, assuming so because he wants to avoid foul trouble so he can stay on the court and help the team score. I think if he was the #2 that might get better a bit and he could get more physical because it would be more important for the #1 option(Melo) to stay on the floor.

But what else does he bring as a #2 big man? His forced shots which have been there forever, would they stop? Would he all of a sudden be able to rebound? Would he become more athletic and be able to roam the paint more on D and become a better defender instead of just a shot blocker? Would he be able to get inside more for easier buckets instead of settling for shots from 20+ feet away?(do we get rebounds if our C is so far out?)

I don't think so, I feel like if we had to get rid of one of them, it would be Brook. Favors has a lot of great qualities suited for a perfect supporter for a high volume shooting guy like Melo. He is tall enough to play the C, and we have already seen his ability to reach those long arms up and jump to get the offensive boards(after Melo misses), and he already has the supreme athleticism which would help in just about every area. I just don't see what parts of Brooks game would be good for being a #2, I mean even now when others take over, Brook literally disappears from the game.

If we do go after Melo, I hope that its not Favors that leaves us, he is too valuable an asset to have next to Carmelo Anthony. We can find players to replace Brook. Just off the top of my head, Kevin Love has become a legitimate scorer, and he has the range. He doesn't play much D, but all those other areas are a major step up.

* Also, I know a lot of people would like to not get Melo and go with developing what we have, this is not what we are talking about here, so don't even bother. There are plenty other posts where we can discuss that, stick with this scenario.

This was Devin's answer to one of the questions on that whole thing where fans submit questions via twitter and facebook:

"I’ve been in Chicago working out with Tim Grover, putting on more weight and not trying to repeat the season personally I had or the team. I’ve worked a lot on my body, adding about 15-20 pounds."

This is the best news of the off season by far. I am in the fitness industry and Grover, as you may already know, is the absolute best of the best. Those who work with him come back the next season as better players, and most important, they remain on the court.

Awesome.

So I know Shaq to the Nets is a long shot, and many people are questioning his ability to come off the bench... but what if he started? Lopez played PF in college right? This would give Favors the bench role everyone is crying for, and then we would still have Lopez and Shaq on the floor at the same time. Brook and Shaq both seem to be willing passers so I don't see an issue down in the paint. I don't see them clogging the paint either, if Devin drives and the guys who are guarding our bigs come to collapse, Devin can dish it over, if they don't come to help, I trust Devin's 1on1 skills.

Just sayin...

I just got back from vacay and have been a little out of the loop. Has there been any news on the Danny Granger situation? I still feel like he is the best available guy to go for out there(if we find a way to work something where we still keep Devin). What are the Pacers doing? They apparently still haven't even put feelers out for any PG's. If I were Granger I would want out of that whole mess.

I just got back from vacay and have been a little out of the loop. Has there been any news on the Danny Granger situation? I still feel like he is the best available guy to go for out there(if we find a way to work something where we still keep Devin).
Alright I thought there was widespread reporting that we would have the first meeting at midnight with Lebron... but now today, I have now heard twice, once on the local Boston radio, and now they repeated what the radio said on Around the Horn, us being 3rd in line behind Chicago and NY. Normally I would just pass this off as Boston radio not having a clue as always, but this second source... whats going on? Anybody know?

If I were Lebron, I would have it between the Nets and Miami, with a serious consideration towards the Clippers.

The Bulls, well I dont see what anyone else sees in them. They have "building blocks." Yeah well I suppose, but I dont see Noah making an Allstar team unless its because he was selected because he was on a "winning team" much like when Mo Williams was selected. On top of that the living in MJ's shadow like that, I wouldnt touch with a 10 foot pole.

The Knicks have no shot, unless its 100% about the money, which I dont think. They have to pull magic out of a hat.

The Clippers have a great young core in my opinion. It may be too young, but you cant deny the future for Eric Gordon and Blake Griffin. I would think about what it would be to be responsible for taking the Clippers, LA's forgotten team, and making them better then the mighty Lakers.

Similar to the Clippers, imagine being able to say I took one of the worst teams of all time to a championship? On top of that, I think Harris and Brook can both make the Allstar team, especially under Avery's tough regime. The Bulls are always touted by the pundits as having a great core with Rose and Noah, but there is no reason why they are any better then Harris and Lopez. On top of that you have a mega rich owner who can provide whatever the team needs.

Lastly, Even though the heat have Dwade and only Dwade, I cant deny playing along side him and my other Olympic mate Chris Bosh who we all saw had amazing chemistry together. If Wade could take the heat to the playoffs with literally no help, imagine what Wade Lebron and Bosh could do.

That's my take on what Lebron would be thinking if he were me. I would probably lean toward the Heat, but lets hope for the rest of the league that that's not what happens.

So there has been a lot in the news lately about Wade and Bosh eating together, obviously talking about what they are going to do etc, and I know that we are going to actively try to lure Lebron to the Nets... No matter what happens, I feel like Wade and Bosh on the same team together is a pairing that would be almost impossible to counter, even with Lebron. Quite frankly it scares the bleep out of me! Both of those guys have the ability to win games at the buzzer, I just dont see anyone getting by them, especially seeing as how they are both 2 intense players on the court.

Let me make this perfectly clear, I am not a fan of Lebron. I don't like much anything about him. I think he is bad for a "team" concept and he struggles in the clutch. He does lots of great things, but at the absolute wrong times. If he is on the Nets we will have to worry about is he going to resign? Did we just pour all our resources into someone who will up and leave then crumble anything we had left? He is a primmadonna. He is a punk. A Jerk.

He also happens to be the most dominant player in the league.

Here is why I want him. What if he goes to Chicago? What if they land Bosh? I feel like we need to get Lebron just so someone else doesn't.
