Word out of Norfolk is that the Lightning have signed LW Cory Conacher to a two year entry level deal. They had to wait until March 1 so the deal would not kick in until next season. This is good news for the Bolts for next year.

Looks like Nate "Boucher" will be with the Lightning for a while. Announced today is a 2 year extension for Thompson.
You'll have to look all the way down to the bottom of the story, but here's the quote: "Vincent Lecavalier recorded his 750th career point with an assist on the final goal after recording a team-high six shots on the night in just his second game back from injury." So congratulations are in order for Vinny as well.
It was ugly, it was slogging, and it was frustrating. And exhilarating. Recapping the OT Lightning win in Toronto tonight.
Early information on what I could find for upcoming Lightning prospect camp. Official schedule and roster should come out tomorrow (Wednesday) but this is the preliminary roster. Camp is scheduled to be at the St Pete Times Forum July 10-14. There are 12 defensemen and 17 forwards on the preliminary roster.
Zenon Konopka, affectionately known to us as "Zeke" was more than just a hockey player to Bolts fans.

Here's a story about a local teen (from Matthews NC, in the Charlotte area) that has been playing since he was 4 yrs old and was recently drafted as a 16 yr old by both the OHL and the USHL. A recap of the 3 PM press conference at the St. Pete Times Forum, introducing Steve Yzerman to the Tampa Bay Lightning organization.
First off, I'm not surprised at all. I expected as much, with a new owner coming in that he would want his own people to be put in place. What did surprise me is the speed with which it...
We in the game threads of Raw Charge have discussed from time to time who we think are good (and bad) announcers for the televised games we watch. We've come up with a few on both sides of the ledger and a lot of it is personal preference. For instance, I enjoy listening to Lightning radio announcer Dave Mishkin, but others outside of the Lightning fan circle do not. But one announcer I believe is one of the best I have ever had the pleasure of listening to call a game is Mike "Doc" Emerick. On Versus Monday night he called his 3,000th professional men's hockey game. 3,000! That is equivalent to somewhere around 36 and a half hockey seasons. Wow. Congrats to you "Doc". You're one of the best.
Even though NHL teams are on break because of the Olympics, the Lightning have been busy making changes in the coaching staff. Wes Walz has been replaced by Jim Johnson as an assistant coach with...
My apologies to whoever coined that word on Twitter or where ever it was. If I knew who it was, I'd be happy to give credit. I only borrow it to make a point.... thanks. Yes, I believe in "Millercles",or Miracles, or Karma, or whatever you want to call it. Blow it off if you want to, blame Brodeur if you want to (a lot of Canadian fans are doing just that) or just admit that the Canadian team lost. On this particular night in Vancouver, WE were the best team, no matter what the reason. I am an American hockey fan. Yes, I am patriotic. And NO, I am not going to apologize for it. As I said on the game thread chat last night, "He may not physically resemble him, but I believe that Ryan Miller just channeled a bit of Jim Craig out there tonight." And on a night where the best player was the besieged goalie on an underdog team, one that had a shamrock on his goalie mask (and Ryan Miller did, in tribute to Jimmy Craig), and just hours shy of the anniversary of the first "Miracle on Ice"...Yes I do believe in "Millercles". Do you?
I know that minor league hockey teams, at least in parts of the United States, will use "gimmicks" to get fans to attend or try to attract new fans to the game. I will say that the Charlotte...
