J.J. is heading to Sac-town!
for Omri Casspi and a 2012 lottery-protected 1st Round pick.
Potential Trade/Draft Scenario
This is mostly to drum up some more talk on this site and hopefully a lot of you particpate. I'm personally tired of seeing "poloks" trying to sell Internet TV through a FanPost. Dude, that is uncool. is there any reason why he isn't banned? Anyways....
My perspective of the draft
Could the picks in the draft fallen a bit differently? Here is my view...
It's Draft-Talk TIme!
We've all talked about it, but now it's time to organize some thought into it.
2011 Team Needs
As much I love the football season, I love the offseason just that much more. I want to talk about free agency and the Draft. What do the Buccaneers need to do to be solid contenders next year? This is what I believe we need...
What would you do if you were the Cavaliers' GM for this upcoming season?
What kind of moves do you make? What are your goals? What will be your ideal team identity?
Random Thoughts & Thursday's impending Free Agent Frenzy
I know that everyone is talking about how LeBron James is going to be dazzled by a new team's scenario.
"Miami can sign three max-contract players in South Beach."
"Chicago gives you Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah & possibly two max-contract stars."
"New Jersey can give you Devin Harris, Brook Lopez, new drafted Derrick Favors & possibly two max-contract stars."
"Los Angeles (Clippers) can give you a collection of lottery picks and the glamorous L.A. scene."
"New York can offer you three max-contract stars this year and possibly one next year. Oh, and not to mention your own Television Channel."
"Cleveland can offer you...... a hometown environment and warm pat on the back."
Offseason Needs to Address
Obviously its kind of early for this, but I like to talk about the offseason.
1) Get another superstar...
I feel for this team to succeed the way they should with LeBron James at the helm that he will need another solid player. A player that I feel will be atainable this offseason will be Chris Paul. That's right, Chris Paul. CP3, baby. The reason that I feel this way is that the Hornets are looking to dump salary and we may be able to acquire him. He is almost expendable with how Darren Collison and Marcus Thornton have developed into pretty good players as rookies. Maybe if we send them Daniel Gibson, Anthony Parker and Big Z (sign-and-trade) with the 2011 1st Round draft pick, then it could happen. Two of those would be expiring contracts.
2) Get another coach...
Mike Brown is such a joke. He is more like a cheerleader than anything else. LeBron is the coach of this team just like Kobe is in L.A. I haven't heard Brown coach a single player. LeBron develops on-court talent more than Mike Brown ever could. LeBron is pulling the strings on the puppet that is Mike Brown and Danny Ferry for that matter. I love Danny Ferry though. The smartest thing he ever did was listen to what his star player wants on this team. The Amar'e thing still stings a little bit though. Jamison obviously was not the answer to a more versatile line-up. He could have been but Mike Brown can't rotate a decent line-up to save his life. Or his job for that matter.
Can we not get a Jeff Van Gundy or a Larry Brown? These guys are actual coaches.
3) Dump Mo Williams
I think it is at least worth a shot. The lack of defensive prowess is shining in the series with Boston. We could use him to find a productive post player at Center. What if we pulled off a deal to send Mo WIlliams, Antawn Jamison and the 1st Round pick in the 2012 draft and the 2nd Round pick in the 2011 draft for Chris Bosh (sign-and trade) & Marcus Banks. Or maybe even send him to New York where they don't play defense and at least get David Lee out of it. I'd rather have Chris Bosh though.
4) LeBron has to opt out of his contract...
As crazy as it sounds, it can needs to happen. If he does opt out of his contract, then we would still maintain the Bird Rights over him. We can re-sign after opening up cap space to sign some more talent. There is the chance that he can leave, but I don't think he will if Ferry is proactive about acquiring some decent to great talent. You've got to play the salary cap game if you want to win.
My line-up after those two deals if Danny Ferry could pull them off....
PG - Chris Paul / Sebastian Telfair / Marcus Banks
SG - Delonte West / Jamario Moon
SF - LeBron James / Jawad Williams / Danny Green
PF - Chris Bosh / J.J. Hickson / Leon Powe
C - Anderson Varejao / Sasha Kaun
Coach - Jeff Van Gundy
Some of this seems a little farfetched, but I've seen crazier things happen. This line-up is totally dangerous to any other team in the NBA. I'm just trying to generate some talk. Feedback?
My 10 Buccaneers predictions for the upcoming 2010 Season
1) Mike Clayton will be cut. The Buccaneers drafted two receivers in the first four rounds of the Draft for a reason. Benn and Williams will start with Stroughter at the slot. Brown and Stovall will be rotational receivers, but 4th and 5th on the depth chart respectively. Preston Parker and Mario Urrutia will be on the practice squad on make occasional appearances due to injury.
2) Josh Freeman will throw more touchdowns than interceptions this season. The entire offseason with his coaches and teammates will greatly benefit him. He also has a whole season under his belt. Just remember... Two of his three wins came against the Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints and the playoff-bound Green Bay Packers.
3) The Buccaneers will win the first game of the season. It's not that bold of a prediction. The Browns are still the Browns after all.
4) The McCoy-Price-Miller DT rotation will boost the Buccaneers back into the top 15 rush defenses. The Panthers and Steelers will be huge, early tests to gauge this. Don't count out that you may see all three on the line at the same time.
5) Donald Penn will gain at least 30 pounds during the season. Dude, put down the fork and get yourself the contract you deserve. I would offer "6 years/$40 Million/$15 MIllion guaranteed" with escalators for keeping his weight down. LOL... Just kidding.
6) Sabby Piscitelli will be cut. He has shown that he was a poor draft choice by the previous regime and needs to go. He misses tackles by taking horrible angles. Strong safeties should be able to step up to the line scrimmage on occasion and help in run support. He might be a special teamer somewhere.
7) The Buccaneers will win "8" games this year. This is a little bold for my own tastes, but I have faith. Carolina's defense will suffer greatly this year will the loss of Julius Peppers. Atlanta's secondary doesn't strike fear into anyone. Dunta Robinson can't do it all by himself. Pittsburgh is a possible win Big Ben being gone, but it's kind of a long shot with how good their defense always is. Plus, we got Detroit and St. Louis on the schedule.
8) Barrett Ruud will play out his mind this year. Think about it. Everything is in his favor. He has two new toys in the middle of the defensive line (McCoy and Price). He won't be learning a new defense, but be sticking with the familiar Tampa 2 style. He has solid players all around him. Plus, he will be playing for a new contract. Hopefully, the Buccaneers don't let it get all the way to free agency. "5 years/ $35 Million/$15 Million guaranteed" has a good ring to it. Do not give him "Patrick Willis" money.

Possible Off-Season Moves
Why have we just gone after a free agent wing man? Danny Ferry is moving too slow. For what reason can the Cavaliers trade Z? Here are just some thoughts...
