A few days ago, I made a post outlining the teams receivers and their best fit in this offense. In that thread, a new topic arose. Marc Mariani and the hate he's been receiving as of late. Why is a pro bowl returner and owner of various records getting so much flack from so many fans including myself?

Lets get this out of the way. I do not hate Marc Mariani. He has been nothing but a ray of sunshine on an otherwise cloudy day stud since his rookie season. Not one person expected the 7th round draft pick from Montana to play as well as he has. Especially when you consider he was widely believed to be a fluff pick by Jeff Fisher and nothing more than a camp body. After all, Damian Williams was the guy we drafted to be our return star, but Mariani had other plans. After a few nice returns, Mariani blazed through the Denver Broncos coverage unit and into our hearts. His ability to field returns on the run is a great weapon and his vision and ability to patiently follow blocks is exceptional.

The 2012 Tennessee Titans have a dilemma and it's a relative new one. With all of this wide receiver talent, just which line up will allow us to be most dangerous? Now we of course have the big 3, being Kenny Britt, Nate Washington and 1st round Draft pick Kendall Wright. So that leaves Damian Williams, Marc Mariani and of course this posters favorite, Lavelle Hawkins. Exactly where will Tennessee line these players up on Sunday to provide the biggest mismatch? I will be excluding practice squad and unproven players on the roster in this post.

It's been 3 years since Safety Michael Griffin was in the pro bowl and since then, Griffin has been nothing but a shell of his former self. He's lacked the aggressiveness and excitement we've been so used to seeing from him. Defensive coordinator Jerry Gray believes Griffin can still be that guy with a little consistency as do the Titans. But he will have to prove this true which has been been proven by the lack of a long-term contract for Griffin. Instead the Titans chose to place the franchise tag on the 27 year old safety, allowing him one more season to prove his worth. But can Griffin get back to his old self?

Lavelle Hawkins. I just want to take this opportunity to say goodbye. No not from the team, but from my heart. It was a fun ride. No, lets be honest, there were quite a few bumps. But dammit we did it together. Many questioned our relationship, but we got through it by singing the song of a generation "HATERS GONNA HATE!" .

I want you to know this has nothing to do with your performance on the field. You are having your best season yet and have made quite a few plays like i knew you could. You are most definitely NOT our worst receiver.

But as the season draws to an end, i can't help but feel our fling has gone stale. The spark is with another.

That's right. Nate Washington. I will always love you Hawk, but i have never in my 20 years on this planet witnessed such drive, such heart, such passion, from a receiver in Titan blue.

What i saw on Sunday was a man give his all. Not for his stats, or to make ESPN top 10 plays. But for the good of the team. With pain running through his body he picked himself up and played. That's something i can not help but love.

So hawk, whether you're here next season or not, it will have to be without me leading your fanclub. Because ive fallen for another. So let me give you one more CAW CAW!! for old times sake and move on.

Were approaching the final game of the season. A drama filled season at that. And i just wanted to say to all the fans who are still here, still loving this team with all their hearts. THANK YOU! This is one of those years when you find out what kind of fan you are. We've had it all, good games, bad games, blowouts, controversies, the whole nine. So if your still here, pat yourself on the back. You are the essence of a true fan. I have never been so down on this team than i have this season. But the blue blood in my veins just wouldn't let me let go. I had to keep watching, keep hoping, keep praying something good may happen. And although it never happened. Im still here. Why? Because i love this team. I'll stop now since i seem to be rambling. But in short, thank you everyone who has been here through thick and thin. You are TRUE FANS!
