Track Em Tigers Kansas hires......

.... Charlie Weiss.

Go ahead take a little time to chuckle while you come to grips with it. I did. Does KU really think that Charlie Weiss is going to put their program in position to compete in the Big 12?

It's a strange hire for sure....especially after watching Weiss bumble through his tenure at Notre Dame and do less with more talent at Florida. I truly am bumfuzzled over it....but at the same time I'm happy that Coach Gus Malzahn is not in danger of going to the coaching waste land that is KU.

I hope that CGM is on AU's staff for many years to come (although I doubt it) and when he does leave it's for a top coaching job (outside of the SEC).

I bet Will Muschamp is feeling mixed emotions.....relief that he didn't have to fire Weiss sometime down the road and anxiety over finding a top notch OC to make sure he has a job at UF for at least the full term of his contract.

Track Em Tigers It Was All A "What If" Scenario......

which seemed an obvious and distinct possibility to me and I felt like writing down my thoughts on the matter to both express my thoughts and perhaps stimulate some conversation and debate on the subject prior to the start of the season.  Now it seems that the scenario that I outlined is more than just a "what if"......

Track Em Tigers A Wishlist of Schools to Accompany A&M to the SEC......

Yesterday I outlined the scenario that would put AU into the eastern division if A&M and another Big 12 or Texas based School came to the SEC.....this had the effect I had hoped for people got to talking about it and hopefully will continue talking about it.  Opinions varied and it was about like I thought it would be, the older the AU fan the more they were for moving to the East, the younger fans..... not so much.  Well it looks like the A&M move to the SEC is almost a sure thing.....so with that being said here are my choices for the 14th SEC school.

Track Em Tigers Texas A&M Coming To The SEC Could Help Put AU In The East.

The scuttlebutt is growing legs as we speak,  Texas A&M is very close to joining the SEC.  This could be the best thing for AU since the Ironbowl was moved to home and home....this could feasibly move AU into the SEC east.  Think about it.....if aTm moves into the west and the SEC picks up another team that could move into the west as well such as Mizzou or even Oklahoma not to mention possibly another Texas team, then the west would have to cough over a team to the east.......

Track Em Tigers Condolences to Quan Bray and Family.

As most of you probably know, Quan Bray's mother was shot and killed a couple of days ago in LaGrange Ga, and while the details are out there I feel no need to repeat them here.  Rather I just ask that everyone remember Quan and his family in your thoughts and prayers and to express any condolences for them here and to remember that as important as we think Football is there is always something more important and that is our health and the health of our family.  I hope that Quan can bring himself to cope with this tradgedy in a positive way....although I can't begin to imagine how....my heart goes out to him and I wish him all the best in life whether that includes AU or Football or not.  Having lost my mother in the past year I know the difficulty one can have losing a parent, but I cannot imagine having to deal with that as a high school senior and by such an unnessecary act of violence.  I hope Quan can see that the AU family is behind him in wishing him only the best and with our heartfelt sympathy.

Track Em Tigers A Baptism Into The Auburn Family Happened Before My Eyes This Weekend

I had the good fortune to take my 8 year old son (Christopher) to his first AU game this weekend.  I was nervous about his attention span and how he would do sitting in one spot for 4 plus hours.  He was born into an Auburn household although he does have his Grandpa that is a Bammer....red elephant Bammer at that, and he has my brother who is the most obnoxious Bammer that I have to associate with along with various other Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins that are all there to tempt him to the dark side.   With all of the temptations and whispering in his ear about 13 NC's from relatives and the usual pressure of being in the minority at school I have always wondered if he would choose to be a part of the AU family or if he would succumb to the peer pressure to go to the dark side.

Track Em Tigers An Early Discussion of the Big Question.

With the commitment of Cam Newton it has made this coming spring almost as must see as last years.  The QB situation got incredibly juicy rather suddenly and unexpectedly and I for one can't wait to see how it plays out.  I am one of the few that has thought that we had more talent at QB than most gave us credit for and that while Chris Todd was for the most part a very pleasant surprise the fact that it took so long to name a starting QB this past season was due to the possibilities rather than the lack of them.  And I believe the 2010 season is going to be even more intriguing for the QB competion and........

Track Em Tigers To the Auburn Family.....

now is the time for patience and unity.  Not a time for calling for the benching of players or firing of coaches.  What we are seeing is not a repeat of last season so don't even go there.  Last season the team was divided and seriously so.  This season the team has unity and is on the same page.  Two totally different scenarios.  It's very predictable, as soon as the offense sputters and becomes and stagnant, people start calling for QB changes as if thats always the problem.  Did Todd hold on to the ball too long a few times in Baton Rouge? Absolutely.  Did he try to force the ball into coverage a couple of times?  Yep no doubt about it.  Does he need to be benched?  Not a chance.  The problems on offense are more than one persons play.  The offensive line has been blown up consistantly in pass protection the past three weeks.  Penalties have killed drives.  Backs in the backfield have failed to pick up the blitz (repeatedly).  Recievers have failed to gain seperation and get open.  Show me one player that has not made a mistake or not failed to execute his assignment on offense at least a few times each game in the 3 games.  You can't do it......if you think you can then you either don't know what the hell you are talking about or you haven't watched the games.  This is a team effort (or lack of)and team losses.  And, furthermore, if those mistakes across the board are not corrected or correctable then it doesn't matter if we somehow manage to get the second coming of Peyton Manning in at QB then we are just as doomed as we have been the past 3 weeks.

As for the calling for coaches heads......please if you're going to act like an idiot Bama fan just do it in private and keep it to yourself.   We are paper thin on Defense no doubt about it and as far as the defense is concerned that is one area that I have the utmost confidence in the coaching.  We have one of the best defensive minds in the country as a Head Coach and I have complete faith he understands the deficiencies and reasons why  the defense is struggling.  If it truly is or was Roofs tactics or coaching I also have every confidence that he would handle the situation by either taking over the defense or making what ever change that would be needed.  Now is not the time to be calling for coaching changes and it only serves to make the program look worse in the eyes of outsiders.

Everyone who is a regular on this board knows that I predicted a worse case scenario of 7-5 and a best case scenario of 10-2 prior to the season.  I had more optimism than most AU fans coming into this season and I feel like it was for good reason......and I still think we have a good chance of 7-5 or better with something other than the Papa Johns Birmingham trip to look forward to.  But to divide as a fanbase at this time or to fail to support your coaching staff and team is counter productive and useless at this point.  The time for making coaching changes are after the season and I have a hard time even seeing it happen this season even if we go 6-6 and fail to beat another SEC opponent.  Chizik and staff will get at least two more years and most likely 3 more considering the depth problems that we know are prevalent and the fact that Malzahn needs at least another couple of recruiting classes to get the right kind of talent for his system.  In short be patient and don't air our families dirty laundry out for everyone to see.

Track Em Tigers And the new starting QB for AU is......

not likely to be Tyrik Rollison.  As you may or may not know it is being reported that nothing is being said about the QB competition and any potential trimming down (as of tonight anyway) the QB competition.  But if you look at the not so subtle hint that was left when its being reported that Burns, Caudle, and Todd were taking snaps from the first team but Rollison and Moseley were taking snaps from the second team.  It seems that  Chizik and Mahzahn lived up to their promise to let him compete and he will now be a great asset and QB for AU in the future.  I am not happy if this is the case, which it certainly appears this way at least to me, that Rollison is apparently not the guy this year. But I am happy that the QB competition will most likely have 3 competitors for at the very least the next few days or so and that it will soon be two or one.  I think that Rollison should be proud that he got the look he has and that he performed well and realize that he is the QB of the future for Auburn.  I am speculating all of this of course but it does seem this way to me.......if I am wrong you can all pile on and rag me about it later.  Anyone agree or disagree......I don't know maybe its the Gentleman Jack but thats what I pull from it.

Track Em Tigers Reuban Randle, Come on in take your shoes off....stay a while.

Yep.  Gus Malzahn has done what they said wouldn't happen he has RR coming to take a visit on January 30th.  Take note that this is the same weekend that Kendall Kelley and Clint Moseley are taking their visits....as has been reported by Mr. Goldberg.  Moseley has been quoted as saying he was taking his visit on the 30th to help recruit KK and now it seems he will be courting RR as well.  I hope Mr. Moseley has some sales talent and can show these young men that he is the real deal....and that they would benefit coming to AU.  Regardless of whether either RR or KK commits to AU this is an excellent example of the job that the coaches are doing on selling AU to prospects.  Kudos go out to the coaches for aiming high and being relentless on the hunt for top talent to come to AU.  It will be an interesting next few days....I hope that the rumors about Johnnie Farms ditching his plans to visit AU are untrue or if they are that he reconsiders and makes the trip, AU could use him and he would be a fine addition to the Tigers. Regardless.....so far I would have to give Coach Chizik an "A" to this point in everything he has done. War damn Eagle.

Track Em Tigers Friends, Romans, Countrymen......

or rather Fans, Students, Alumni,  lend me your ears......WE MUST UNITE!  The argument is over Gene Chizik is our Head Coach for better or worse.  We need to turn the page and let the argument die over who would have been a better choice.....we have almost unanimously  agreed that we would have rather had Gill but that will not happen no matter how we feel.

On the defense of the racism card that fairly or unfairly has been played.  Defend Auburn University because you defend yourself, and your institution.  But be careful you don't defend the wrong thing.  I have made several comments stating this stance but I felt maybe a fan post would be a better  forum.  I do not see the logic of defending the people we denounce as being Dictators or Overlords of our beloved University on charges of racism.  I don't know if they are guilty or innocent so I'm damned sure not going to defend them.  It is wasted energy and assenine to defend them because there is not one of us who can prove or disprove that they are guilty or innocent.  I understand the ire, I feel it too, of having accusations of racism come up at every instance possible.....especially by those who would paint us as backwoods hillbillys living on dirt roads with no dental hygene.  But think about it folks time would be better spent demonstrating that regardless of the motives of the Board of Trustees and their puppet Jay Jacobs, that racism does not apply to Auburn University because Auburn University is not a few power hungary boosters it is us the Auburn family.  Let the Powers that be defend themselves, and if they can't that is their problem and should be handled appropriately by not only us but the State of Alabama which our University is a part of.  What I am saying is this....it doesnt matter at this point whether you agree or disagree that racism was an issue with the hiring of Gene Chizik it is percieved and before you jump to defend those accused you need proof.  It's not like the people accused are people that we want to protect....to the contrary they are people we loathe.  If I had proof that they were innocent I would defend them vehemently and present that proof (and constantly call for their resignation).  But there is no such proof available to us.  The Board of Trustees and Jay Jacobs should have to answer for this......not Auburn University.....when you defend them you actually put the University more into the dendants chair because you are Auburn University.  Oppose the Board of Trustees and Jay Jacobs because of the misuse of power and money.......don't defend them with out proof one way or the other.

Track Em Tigers Rivals.com is reporting....

Chizik has been offered and has accepted the Auburn Head Coaches position.....if this is true we are doomed......

The powers that be have made a mockery of Auburn University and its fans and alumni......band together shout as one voice and tell them they are loathed and must leave now.  I am through giving my money to Auburn University until Lowder and his cronies are gone and Jacobs is fired.  We are Auburn where the few rule the many we are Auburn the laughing stock of the nation. We are Auburn.  Who wants Chizik over Tuberville? Over Gill? Over most anyother goofy name on the list that was interviewed. This is unbelievable and unacceptable JAY JACOBS MUST RESIGN NOW OR BE FIRED!

Track Em Tigers My heartache.....

We have been lied to and disregarded by the people in charge of our University.  The people in charge do not think that our voice matters.  What can we do about it?  Stop supporting....sure our donations individually don't amount to much.  But collectively they are large.  Don't support Colonial Bank....if you use that bank stop now.....withdraw every penny that you have there and put it somewhere else.....don't use a Colonial Bank ATM.....don't  patronize Colonial Properties or their tenants.  Write letters not just to the University President but to the Govenors Office, State Representatives, and News papers.....inundate and saturate every outlet and office.  The manipulation of our Alma Matre by the few that would treat it as their personal kingdom must stop and the only way to do that is through a united voice and united actions.  DO IT NOW!
