The All-Time Multi-League GVT database
I guess it was only a matter of time until I put this together.
On Google documents (found here) I have placed an all-time GVT database that covered the NHL, WHA, AHL, IHL, the Swedish, Finnish, Russian, Czech and German elite leagues, as well as some of the Canada Cups and Olympic tournaments. More after the jump.
An Aggregate Analysis of 1st-line players in the NHL
For all of you interested in the more analytical aspect of hockey stats, such as what is the quantifiable distribution of talent in the NHL, what amount of shooting percentage is skill, who plays power-vs-power and how can we distinguish elite players from the rest, I have an exhaustive look at the characteristics of 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th line forwards in the NHL at PuckProspectus:
For those who really like to play around, the data can be found here:
Yet more data on goaltending
My series on goaltending on PuckProspectus continues, with a ranking and confidence intervals for the 40 goalies who have seen the most recent action in the NHL:
All-time GVT now available
For those of you who are interested in GVT, all-time historical data going back to 1944 is now available on my Google Docs site.
GVT on Google Docs
It's under the GVT folder. Because Google Docs only supports files up to 1 MB, it's only downloadable for now, not browsable. If anybody has any feedback on a format that would be more user-friendly, I'll all ears.

Luck vs. Skill in Goaltending
There has been a lot of discussion around here concerning the variance inherent in goaltending skill, and whether there is any measurable difference between NHL goalies. Here is my attempt to throw more fuel on the fire:
How Much Skill is there in Goaltending?
For those who want to dig further, confirm or contest my analysis, the raw data can be found here, under Worksheets:
Sunny, I'm expecting your comments soon.
Yet More Discussion on Shot Quality
For those who are interested in throwing yet more fuel on the Avalanche "lucky/good" fire, I have a post up at PuckProspectus that discusses shot quality and gives some insight on the Avs' success:
