Tom Dakers, long time baseball fan, been through the good and bad with the Jays (seems like mostly bad lately) and the Expos (still sad about them leaving). I've been running and writing for Bluebird Banter for 6 years now (time flies when you are having fun). I'm very proud of the growth of the site in that time.I also write for CBCSports.ca and occasionally you'll see my name in other spots.

Sometimes it seems like all I do is talk about baseball.

Questions to our friend Alex Hall from Athlectics Nation

Do we want Jeff Francoeur?

MLB Daily Dish tells us that Jeff Francoeur could opt out of his Padres minor league deal and could join the Blue Jays 'very soon'". In 83 games for El Paso this season, Francoeur is hitting...

Walk-off Homer by Edwin Encarnacion

Brewers 4 Blue Jays 7 Walk-off win. This game deserves a longer recap, we'll revisit it later. The good news is that Edwin Encarnacion hit a game winning home run in the bottom of the 9th. 2-on,...

Blue Jays sign two international free agents

The Blue Jays have signed two international free agents: Juan Meza as a 16 year old pitcher from Venezuela. He's 6'3", 190 pounds. He throws a low 90's fastball. Baseball America has him as the 1...

Edwin Encarnacion plays left field today

Words I thought I'd never type again, Edwin Encarnacion is playing left field for the Blue Jays today. That moves Melky Cabrera over to right field and lets Bautista DH and Lind play 1B. I'm not a...

Blue Jays sign their first round draft picks

. Right-handed pitchers Jeff Hoffman (the number 9 pick overall) and catcher Max Pentecost (the number 11 pick overall are both sided.

We are a little late on this, I got the questions to Noah Jarosh, from Brew Crew Ball, SB's Brewers blog a little late, but better late than never, we'll post. The Brewers have built up a nice...

Great start from Drew Hutchison

Blue Jays win on Canada Day. Drew Hutchison had a great start. Jose Bautista and Colby Rasmus homered.

Happy Canada Day!

Blue Jays trade rumors: David Price, Jeff Samardzi

Bob Elliot, late last night, posted more on rumors that the Blue Jays are looking at David Price and Jeff Samardzija. Elliot tells us that the Jays have sent 10 scouts to look at Samardzija, over...

Blue Jays in June: Starting Pitchers

After a terrific May, June wasn't great. We went 12-15 in June (same record as April), but any month that we finish in first place is a good month, in my humble opinion. Our pitchers put up a 3.93...

Good start from Mark Buehrle wasted

White Sox 4 Blue Jays 0 I've rarely been so happy to see a month end. Here's to a better July! Yet again, a very good start from one of our starters is wasted by a lack of offense. Mark Buehrle...

GameThread for Game 84: White Sox @ Blue Jays

The final game of the 4 game set against the White Sox. We are treated to a different lineup today, no Melky (if it was me, I'd DH him for the 'day off', but it isn't me). Lind gets to play...

One bad pitch, Jays lose to White Sox

White Sox 4 Blue Jays 3 A great start by Marcus Stroman ruined by one pitch from Dustin McGowan. Stroman was amazing for 6.2 innings. Until that point he had allowed 1 hit and 1 walk, with 6...

Go Jays Go

R.A. Dickey gives up 4 home runs

White Sox 5 Blue Jays 4 It seems like we leave R.A. Dickey out there 2 or 3 batters too long every start. I wish Gibby would start being a little more proactive about getting him out of there when...

Blue Jays stories of the season's first half

We've played 81 games now, half a season, and I thought that we should take a look at what the major story lines have been for the Blue Jays. Blue Jays are in first place. Of course this is the...

Blue Jay Trade Rumors: Chase Headley

The San Diego Union-Tribune tells us that the Blue Jays have been inquiring about Chase Headley. At least one team - the Toronto Blue Jays - has discussed acquiring the Padres' third baseman,...

Jays move Dalton Pompey up to New Hampshire

This morning, Dalton Pompey tweeted this: On my way to AA New Hampshire! Definitely going to miss my teammates here. Incredible group of guys. Looking forward to this new opportunity — Dalton...

Great start for J.A. Happ, Jays beat White Sox

White Sox 0 Blue Jays 7 So who had Happ throwing 124 pitches tonight? A great start for Happ, I thought Gibby left him in too long, up by 6 there is no reason to push him that far. But still a...

Why didn't we pinch hit for Adam Lind?

Last night, in the 7th inning, The Jays had the tying run on base, with two outs, with Adam Lind scheduled to bat. Yankees manager Joe Girardi, not being a complete idiot, brought in lefty reliever...

With a four game weekend series between the Blue Jays and White Sox, we send some questions off to Jim Margalus, blogger for South Side Sox.

One bad inning costs us, Jays lose to Yankees

Yankees 5 Blue Jays 3 One bad inning cost us. So no sweep. Drew Hutchison threw 5 good innings, unfortunately he was out there for 6 innings. His bad inning was the 4th. He gave up a walk to K...

Brad Glenn up, Kevin Pillar down

Update: Apparently Kevin Pillar didn't take to well to being pinch hit for last night, I didn't see it but some folks mentioned he threw his bat and gloves after being taken out. Gibbons on...

whatever doesn't kill you, makes you... Stranger

I'm going to repost something that JohnnyG wrote 3 years ago...It seems appropos now. I feel the same way tonight that Johnny did  then: angry. Now, I'm totally hoping that Edwin Encarnacion...

Walkoff win!!

Yankees 6 Blue Jays 7 I love walkoff wins. It shouldn't have been that close. But in the bottom of the 9th, Jose Reyes lead off with a double, Melky Cabrera put down a bunt, to move Reyes to...
