From Fran Fraschilla's blog about Andy Katz's top 25 selections:

"It's that time of year to debunk some of my friend Andy Katz's top-25 selections. He's obviously done his homework, but here are six teams on which I will take issue with him:"

Gonzaga

Andy's Take: Gonzaga at No. 9
My Take: Too high

Don't worry, Zags fans. Your team will be back at its customary place at the top of the West Coast Conference this season, especially with rivals Portland and Saint Mary's depleted by graduation. Elias Harris and Robert Sacre certainly will dominate conference opponents, but in order to justify a high ranking, guard play will be critical for Mark Few's club. Ultimately, the loss of Matt Bouldin will be huge, especially since returning backcourt mates Steven Gray and Demetri Goodson have been more up-and-down than a roller coaster at Six Flags. This is a top-25 team for sure, but I think top-10 is too high.

A new post-draft deadline top 25 is out from NBC's "Beyond the Arc":

13. Gonzaga

Record: 27-7
Key returnees: Steven Gray, Robert Sacre, Elias Harris, Demetri Goodson, Kelly Olynyk, Bol Kong, Mangisto Arop
Key losses: Matt Bouldin
Newcomers: Keegan Hyland

Bouldin, the WCC player of the year is gone, but there shouldn’t be a significant dropoff. Goodson can run the point and Gray should pick up the scoring slack. Harris and Sacre remain a handful inside. What’s not to like?

Some are very surprising, like LMU's Kevin Young and USF's Kwame Vaughn.

The Slipper Still Fits Fraschilla on Harris' Draft Ranking

Fran Fraschilla on Harris' NBA draft ranking on the Big Board. He thinks Harris is ranked too high. I do too.

The Slipper Still Fits ESPN's Chad Ford: Stock Watch

Chad Ford updated his NBA draft Stock Watch yesterday and has moved Elias Harris up to #16. According to Ford, Harris has bounded up the rankings faster than anyone since the season began when he was at #30. If Harris declares, Ford says that he may be a lottery pick by then. It's looking more and more like he may be a "one and done". Come back Andy!

Other big movers up the rankings included Xavier Henry and Quincy Pondexter. The snippet from Ford's article after the jump. (You have to be an Insider)

The Slipper Still Fits More Recognition for Elias Harris

I just ran across Jay Bilas' article at ESPN.com posted on Dec. 14th. In it he goes over the best and worst of the weekend hoop action. I didn't see anyone else discuss or reference the article so I thought I'd throw it up here. He has some great things to say about Elias.

The Slipper Still Fits Why So Many Europeans Drafted?

Okay, this is short.

I'm upset about the number of foreign players taken in the draft. I counted 14 in both rounds and that turns out to be about 23%. I'm not trying to deny that there are some good players in Europe, but there should be some limit. I mean, I think some just-as-good stateside players were pushed out of the draft because of that, and some of those drafted from there will stay in Europe for a couple more years playing for their old teams. There was plenty of players stateside who could play right away and make an impact, players like Josh Heytvelt who held Thabeet to about 12 points and John Bryant of Santa Clara who led the nation in rebounding and averaged over 18 points per game. I think Bryant is a better rebounder than Jon Brockman. Just saying.
