ESPN vs NFL Network(draft coverage).....
I keep flipping back and forth between the two channels while watching the draft and was wondering who preferred what channel. Here are some positives and negatives between the two channels. I will explain my choice after the jump.
ESPN
Positives:
I really like watching Jon Gruden. He is an interesting person to watch and provides great insight.
Mel Kiper is the original draft guy. I like his style.
Strong Interviews with key people in the NFL.
Provides strong team by team updates.
Video about players right after the pick.
Negatives:
Too many commercials
Tends to miss the draft pick being called out loud
Steve Young tends to seem to interrupt everybody. He totally interrupted Gruden and you can see Gruden getting mad. He also interrupted Tom Jackson and I kind of felt bad for Tom Jackson. Both were talking at same time until steve young wins the battle.
Anybody hear Jon Gruden say dumb ass when he thought camera wasnt on him?
The awkward silence after Chris Berman tries to say something funny and nobody laughs.
I actually was really mad after the 49ers traded to move up in the draft and the analysts didnt tell us the details.
NFL Network
Positives:
Less commercials
Shows most of the picks.
I like Rich Eisen
Deion getting in depth interviews with the players.
Tells us most of the details of the trades.
Steve Mariucci
Negatives:
Tells us who the pick is before pick is called. That makes me mad. I like the surprise of the call.
Mike Mayocks lisp.
What are the 49ers problem?
I haven't kept much interest in the 49er stadium plans. I always said i didn't mind them going to santa clara even though if we hosted a super bowl who wants to go to santa clara? Its not even walkable to the city. Now I find out there second plan is going to Oakland which now pisses me off. I wouldn't mind the raiders and 49ers sharing a stadium, i actually think thats kind of cool but what is wrong with San Francisco? There is no better baseball enviorment then the SF Giants. How beautiful and cool is that area? Gives me a special feeling when I go to baseball games. Why cant we have that with our 49ers? They want to clean up that area in Hunters Point which it really needs. Remember how the pacbell park area looked before they revamped it? I officially change my views to an all San Francisco 49er stadium. Forget Santa Clara or Oakland. San Francisco or get out of here, i will become a Raider fan atleast they have been the super bowl in the last 10 years(I didnt mean that).
So if anybody can please tell me what is going on and what the San Francisco 49ers problems are with San Francisco?
Dear Kurt Warner
Oh Kurt what a wonderful career you have had. You have taken three teams to the Super Bowl, your all of the top 3 of yards in a super bowl game and have been a wonderful story. You have my vote for the hall of fame. Also the sooner you retire you will be able to get into the Hall. Remember last year when your throw almost killed Anquan Boldin and you were thinking about retirement? You dont want to almost kill any more players anymore cause of your throws, dont you? Hey guess who else is retiring soon, Issac Bruce. You guys can hang out and watch old film of you guys winning the Super Bowl, it will be great. Also, your beautiful wife and kids need you at the house more. Your getting old buddy and you should just retire, great career you have had!

Why beating Arizona isn't in our Cards.....
Nothing I will want more is for our 49ers to beat Arizona on monday. Its will be a tough challenge based on these reasons why. Now Arizona is 7-2 since last season in primetime games including playoffs and the super bowl. Keep in mind those two losses were in the Super Bowl(which they were really close in winning) and early last year. Point being is that the Cardinals play great in big games or where they have to rise to the challenge like a road game. On the road this year they are 5-1. Unfortunately, they are on the road and playing on Monday Night Football. GO NINERS!
My Top 3 Favorite Teams and My Top 3 least favorited teams
As I watched the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys play on Sunday, I remembered how much I really hate these teams, in fact I hate most of the NFC East except for one team. Being a football fan I like other teams also but I love my 49ers dearly. I would like to know others most favorited and hated teams also.
Most favorite teams
1. San Francisco 49ers: By a LONG SHOT!
2. Oakland Raiders: Its the hardest thing in the world but I do root for the Raiders. When they win there fans dont look as crazy?
3. Philadelphia Eagles: I hate every team from the NFC East except this team. I HATE the Eagles fans especially last season when they were complaining to get rid of Andy Reid and McNabb, how you feel when your playing in the NFC Championship game all of the sudden.
Most Hated Teams
1. New York Giants: I hate everything about them, the team, the coach, the media and most of all Eli Manning.
2. Dallas Cowboys: Do I have to explain?
3. Washington Redskins: I do not know why but maybe something to do with Joe Theisman. I am going to add some teams in the top of the pack as far as teams I like and dislike.
Teams who I sort of like
Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers: I respect the franchises and they are the reasons why the NFL is the NFL.
Teams who I sort of hate
New Orleans Saints: This is a more recent disliking of a team. We seem to make Reggie Bush look like a superstar everytime we play. I felt the refs kind of gave them some leeway during that Katrina year.
Cleveland Browns: Why are they even an NFL team? Demote them to a UFL team please.
Buffalo Bills: Lose 4 super bowls in a row and you want some respect? No thanks you are just the laughing stock of the NFL.
Who are your most favorite and most hated teams?
Alex Smith vs Aaron Rodgers(updated)
Who do you guys believe is a better quarterback now? Its been some years and both have had totally different paths. How do you think Aaron Rodgers would of been if he was drafted by the 49ers. I believe that he would of had been in the same situation as Alex Smith. The 49ers has had different systems and offensive coordinators every year since we picked up Alex Smith as the number one overall draft pick. Here goes a stat by stat comparison.
Alex Smith Aaron Rodgers
Games 36 32
Pct 55.7 63.4
Yards 5487 6811
TD 25 46
Int 37 19
Sacks 91 84
QB Rating 65.7 95.1
Wins/Losses 12/23 10/15
Now stats wise it is a no brainer that Aaron Rodgers would be a better quarterback but where my concern is, is the wins and losses part. I would say Aaron Rodgers has played on much better teams then Alex Smith has and he can only come up with 10 wins and 14 losses? As I watch both of these players now I see many comparisons. Alex Smith makes better reads. Aaron Rodgers seems to hold on to the ball way to long and the packers and 49ers have both equally as bad offensive lines. Both of these quarterbacks seem to not be able to make the play to win the game. They play good when they play but they just dont win games for your team. I believe with Alex Smiths experience he surpasses Aaron Rodgers as a better quarterback. As terrible as Smith has been so far this season during the pressure points of the games, he has played fairly decent and I feel comfortable with him as our quarterback. Ultimately, Aaron Rodgers will probably have a better career.

Boring
Oh what a boring weekend for my 49ers are on a bye. Whatever shall I do? Maybe I will go to church, or read a book, and help a homeless person eat, or walk an old lady across the street. But next week I shall throw on my cherry red Patrick Willis 49er jersey, chug beers and take a shot everytime the 49ers score(hopefully I get drunk!) ,BBQ a big fat juicy cheeseburger and try to sleep with any girl I see! Maybe I should stop watching football?
In reality thank you NFL RedZone because like last weekend I shall watch you from 10am to 430 except for that quarter and a half where I watched all of the 49er game until.... What is everybody else up to?
Random Football thoughts
Yes Crabs has signed! Weeks and weeks and months of waiting and it is done. But now how in the hell does MC Hammer put this all together. Thats like asking a divorced priest to marry you. Mc Hammer? Isn't that the guy who blew millions and went bankrupt? Well all I need is for Mc hammer to give some touchdown dance tips for crabs and hopefully we see a lot of those dances.
Michael Vick has been quiet lately. Not much vick news except for that all of the sudden I have seen a bunch of vick falcon jerseys around my neighborhood. The Falcons are in town. Is it bad that I threaten my dog that I will send him to Michael Vicks house if he keeps barking or stealing my food from the table? So not only did Vick abuse dogs, but he also stopped dog abuse because instead of hitting my dog I threaten him to send them to Vicks concentration camp. Good job vick.
Deion Sanders is starting a lot of drama all over the world. Neon Deion is all over the place starting crap. He is like the Michael Jackson of football. He doesn't touch them but he invites them to sleep over and play and stuff. If i was a college player I would have my parents sue him and settle for the thousands left in his bank account.
Tom Cable trying to Godfather the raiders organization by giving players and assistants offers they cannot refuse. Being a boss myself there has been many times(jokingly or am i) that businesses should start using Godfather techniques to jumpstart there business. Many times I have just wanted to kick the ass of one of my coworkers and Tom Cable did it and the interesting thing he still has a job. Maybe he can find a partner, go up to the office of Al davis, tell him his brains or his signature will be on this contract to sell the damn team.
Thank you Braylon Edwards for stealing the Crabtree signings mojo and I would also like to thank Mike Singletary for getting my team into shape. Thank you Jed York for shedding light on the 49ers organization. Thank you NFL redzone for giving me a cheap way to watch every game. Redzone is awesome if anybody wondered about the channel.
Why we have a great run defense
Obviously there is great play from Aubrayo Franklin and Patrick Willis. Manny Lawson is doing great also, hard to get by him with those long arms. But how great has Nate Clements been? I dont know about you but I was scared in the preseason because he played terrible. What a great tackle cornerback! He is all over the place and I totally see why he was paid all of that money. I think he has been worth his money.
Losing to the Vikings is the best thing to ever have happened....
Anybody see Brett Favre celebrating? Anybody see the Minnesota vikings team celebrating? Anybody see the fans in the stands dancing in glory? Now the game is over and the 49ers are leaving the field with there heads down and one man says to that he doesnt want to see anybodys head looking at the floor! He says "You didn't steal nothing! You didn't do anything wrong! We will see them again! In the playoffs! Hold your heads up! Don't you look down at the floor for nobody! You have nothing to be looking down at the floor about! Pick your heads up, put your shoulders back and let's rock!"
Ladies and gentleman we have a head coach. Father Singletary is doing exactly what he set out to do with this team and we are all becoming men with him. Player or fan we all get motivated by his words of encouragement. Anybody see Shaun Hill throw that touchdown pass? Then he goes to the sidelines and gets some compliments from Singletary and a pat from the back, walks away a little and gives Singletary a hug. I don't know if I should or not but i teared up a little bit. It was beautiful and Shaun Hill is doing an excellent job.
Before the game I told myself that if we play them close and its a good game, I will be happy. Win or lose. But losing hurts so much. I was really angry that we played so hard and lost that game by a miracle play. But as I read the San Francisco Chronicles website about what Singletary said, it reminded me that we did play them close and it was a good game. Things like this happens to teams who are destined to be a champion. Singletary is a story that deserves to have a good ending if not this year, maybe sometime in the near future.
But, games like this could ruin the season. Anybody remember a few years back when one play ruined our whole season. All Cedrick Wilson had to do was run out of bounds, that all he had to do. And every loss after that it reminded me of that one play that I believe ruined that season and the next 3 years of the 49ers. Singletary will not let that happen. Atleast I hope not.
So 49er fans, You didn't do anything wrong! We will see them again! In the playoffs! Hold your heads up! Don't you look down at the floor for nobody! You have nothing to be looking down at the floor about! Pick your heads up, put your shoulders back and let's rock!

49er game starts at 2 o clock?
Okay it doesn't start at that time but thanks to my sister thats what time it starts for me. I have not been more excited for a game in a long time. I want to watch this from start to finish at the correct time. But my sister who is aware that her brother and her husband are huge football fans, decides to throw a birthday party for my niece at a local park with no televisions. She made the party from 11 to 2. I love my family so I have to go but I did manage to strike a deal with my brother n law. We will DVR(record) the game and we will watch it after the party without knowing if our team won or not. Here are some things I will have to do.
Turn off my cell phone so friends dont text or call excited that the 49ers have won or lost.
Let everybody know to not tell me about the game.
Fight my own will power and not find out about the game.
Now my question is, is anybody else in a similar situation? Any games in recent memory that you regretted that you missed? And is it worth it to show up REAL late to the party and get an earful from my family?
Okay I put too much work into this to not repost.
Which divisional coaching staff would you want for your team? Which division has the strongest groups of coaches? Enjoy.
AFC East
Head Coach: Bill Belichick
Offensive Coordinator: Tony Sparano
Defensive Coordinator: Rex Ryan
Special Teams: Dick Jauron
Pretty solid coaching staff. Great Head coach D and O coordinators.
AFC North
Head Coach: Mike Tomlin
Offensive coordinator: Eric Mangini
Defensive Coordinator: Marvin Lewis
Special teams: John Harbaugh
This is a real interesting division. You have top assistant coaches and a super bowl winning head coach. Each assistant is one of the best in there trade. You also probably have the best special teams coach of them all.
AFC South
Head Coach: Jeff Fisher
Offensive coordinator: Gary Kubiak
Defensive Coordinator: Jack Del Rio
Special teams: Jim Caldwell
Jeff Fisher is the longest tenured head coach in the league today. Gary Kubiack has an interesting story being john elways backup for many years and helped Steve young have his greatest season. Jack Del Rio is a solid D Coordinator.
AFC West
Head Coach: Norv Turner
Offensive Coordinator: Todd Haley
Defensive Coordinator: Josh McDaniels
Special teams: Tom Cable
ALL offensive coaches. Josh McDaniels had the most defensive coaching experience so congrats the weak AFC West is even weaker with a WHACK coaching staff.
NFC East
Head Coach: Andy Reid
Offensive Coordinator: Tom Coughlin
Defensive Coordinator: Wade Phillips
Special teams: Jim Zorn
It was a tough decision on who to pick as head coach. Would you rather win a super bowl with Coughlin or continually to be a contender every year and maybe eventually win one with Reid. I went with Reid. Good D Coordinator. Might want to check your special teams because i havent heard of a west coast kickoff?
NFC North
Head Coach: Mike Mccarthy
Offensive Coordinator: Brad Childress
Defensive Coordinater: Lovie Smith
Special teams: Jim Schwartz
This one is the only one where I switched things around a bit. I might still be confused on this division but mccarthy has been a solid head coach. Maybe I am confused because these are all mediocre head coaches in my book.
South
Head Coach: John Fox
Offensive Coordinator: Sean Payton
Defensive Coordinator: Mike Smith
Special teams: Raheem Morris
Pretty whack coaching staff in my opinion. Sean Payton can easily be the head coach but John Fox brings that super bowl experience.
NFC West
Head Coach: Mike Singletary
Offensive Coordinator: Ken Whisenhunt
defensive coordinator: Steve Spagnuolo
special teams: Jim Mora Jr
This was an interesting one to pick. I was either going to put Singletary as a special teams or head coach. Why because he never was a Defensive coordinator. You use him to get your players to play. I think this division is just better with Singletary as head coach because the rest are defensive coaches with just one offensive coach. I was going to put Ken Whisenhunt as head coach because he has had the most success. But you got a great D and O Coordinator with an motivating head and solid special teams.
Please give me your opinion. This took some time to make. I like the NFC West, AFC North, and AFC East. It is pretty tough to choose but if you put a gun to my head and make me make a decision i would pick......NFC West. Not because of the 49ers being in that division. You have the best current offensive and defensive coordinators in the game with the best motivational coach and solid special teamer. That was hard. Who would you pick?
Vikings and 49ers-How even are these teams?
Its has been a while since i have been able to say this so let me take my time. . . .This is a huge statement game by the 49ers! And the interesting part is that this is also a statement game by the Vikings. These teams both have to prove that there 2-0 records are no fluke and that they will be a team to watch out for. As I take a look at these teams from the outside in how even are they?
Both are 2-0
Both have quarterbacks who just have to manage the game and hand the ball off.
Both can stop the run
Both can run the ball well
The differences between these two teams is that the Vikings have a slightly better offense and the 49ers have a slightly better defense. I hope defense can win games for this point. You have to like the Taylor Peterson show better then Gore Coffee.
Adrian Peterson is a better back then Frank Gore but I like Gore better as a receiver.
Vikings have a better O line
Vikings have a hall of fame quarterback
Vikings have better receivers and a talented player in Harvin.
Maybe somebody can tell me a little more about the Vikings defense? At this point I do not know much. But I do know they have a talented Defensive line.
Here goes the keys to the game in my opinion:
Adrian Peterson vs Patrick Willis: I believe Willis will keep him contained. If so Mark a W on our schedule.
Justin Smith vs Jared Allen: Now I know these two wont play against eachother but which player will be able to keep the quarterback on his heels, you have to like Allen since the 49ers blitz is more on there linebackers but if Smith has a better game then Allen I believe we will win this game.
Please oh Please be a breakout game for Shaun Hill! Please Hill prove that you are a real quarterback and quit making me call you JT o Sullivan, get rid of the ball! Thanks to JT O Sullivan I will be calling 49er quarterbacks that name everytime they hold the ball too long, get sacked or fumble for the rest of my life.
Fantasy Watch: Michael Crabtree 4 catches 43 yards 1 td in his first game of the season with limited reps, truly this is a fantasy. GO 49ers!
49ers defense
If my calculations are correct the 49ers should have the 8th best defense in the league after two games so far(3rd in the run, 20th in the pass). Last year the 49ers proved that they had a solid defense during the final half of the season most importantly the Mike Nol... I mean Mike Singletary era. Interestingly, the 49ers seem pretty far down there in pass defense for playing so well. Still real early in the season and five 2-0 teams did not make the playoffs last season so lets not get too excited. Still a lot of work to do, still a lot of games to be played. In the seahawks game we really didn't display much of a pass rush but how much different does that 49er defense look? It seems like on every tackle there is a gang of players there to stop a play. They swarm the ball carrier, they are Fhysical, and have personality. I am loving some defense so far this year. I actually look forward for them to take the field. We are carrying out Singletarys master plan as he wants it and it is working. This year 49ers are Game management, minimize turnovers, run the ball, and tough Fhysical defense!
The smartest and best overall pick in this years draft is....
And the Oakland Raiders select Darius Heyward Bey, wide receiver from Maryland. As this pick is layed out everybody is shocked. Grunts and groans all over the NFL nation sigh in dissapointment and even some just laugh as the world is a Raider Hater. The old man has gone crazy. This pick from the raiders turned the whole draft upside down changing the NFL world as we know it. Who would of gone where? Would the 49ers have a franchise tackle securing our playoff hopes for many years or would our Defense become one of the best with a franchise pass rusher? Maybe the dumbest pick of the draft was the smartest? Definitely ruined our first round.
Lambeau Leap for Chad OchoCinco, What would you do?
Mr OchoCinco has said that if he scores at Green Bay he will do a lambeau leap. What would you do if he came leaping into your section at the Stick?
A) Embrace him and pat his helmet
B) Throw beer and other objects
C) Make a barricade with fellow fans and not let him in
D) Let him in, suck him into the stands and whoop his #*!
I would have to go with letter D.
Interesting crabtree opinions...
I heard something that one of the ninernation members saying that Crabtree will be a cowboy. That thought has totally hit my head a few times. We are all diehard 49er fans right? Now if we were talented enough to be one of the top picks in the draft and have rooted for a team all of our lives where we actually hated other teams, would we want to be on one of the teams that we hate? Money does say a lot but I feel even if we do sign crabtree he will not be a lifer. Soon as his contract is up his ass will be on the free agent market to be a cowboy. Sometime in his career he will be in a Texas football team, i just feel it and know it. His so called entourage who is helping him out with his business decisions are probably all cowboy fans also. Some probably were mad he was drafted by us, was it just them or was Crabtree himself angry about being a 49er. Maybe he thinks he will get all the money out of us that he can and play for a few years and be on his way. I like to watch his face when he was drafted by the 49ers and try to read in between the lines.
Will we all love him? I didn't care for him before the draft. I did not like his attitude before the draft. I did not like the 49ers drafting him! Then I said to myself well oh well, he is suppost to be a great player then saying "Prove me wrong"! I wanted him to prove me wrong about drafting him. I tried to let myself not care that he signs or not. ON the outside I dont care that he signs, i hope he doesnt sign. But on the inside everytime I wake up in the morning I watch ESPN to see if he signed, on my lunch break check my phone to see if he signed, come home to see if he signed. Inside I want him to sign. So now say he does sign. All of the sudden will we all be like "he is a great player" instead of the terrible things we say about him now. Will we all love him?
How big was that Deion Sander update on the crabtree situation. It has sparked national attention and is way bigger then his segment on the situation. Now the NFL is looking at the possible tampering issues with the situation. I wonder how legit Deions allegations were?
Either sign crabtree or say your not signing him at all. Good ideas with putting a date for him to make a decision and also good ideas by NFL analysts on reducing a million a year each week he holdsout. This situation must come to an end by the end of the week!
Seattle Seahawks....
Who is the 49ers going to compete with in the NFC West. Who is going to be the second place team? I first thought that if the Cards had Kurt Warner for another season they were locks. But with crap defense so far and possibility that Kurt Warner to get hurt or have a bad season with fumbles maybe they are not locks. Rams aren't going to crap this year so that leaves the Seagles. I think they might be the most underrated team in the division and NFL. They have Hassellback with a great reciever in TJ who's yo mama. A definite one two punch with Julius Jones and Edgerrin James. Remember last year the seahawks had so many injuries it was crazy. I havent heard much things about the Seahawks since I have been on Ninersnation. So what you think?
Pick your divisional coaching staff.....

Its time to trade Alex Smith.....
Maybe I am pushing it on this one but maybe the broncos might be interested in Alex Smith if he was on the trading block? How about the Chiefs? Maybe a team who needs a reliable back up quarterback. How about the patriots? They just released there backup O Connell. I think the Alex Smith era is over and we need to trade while we might have a little value in him, not much value but a little. It is time for the Shaun Hill era for a year or two then on to the Nate Davis era because I believe that he can be a great quarterback if you just let him sit for a year and learn. Dont ruin him like we did Alex Smith or Joey Harrington. I might be pushing it on this one but I am interested on everybodys opinion.
Unspoken secrets of the NFL
DO you all maybe think that a lot of players hate to play in training camp so much that they fake injuries, holdout, and pretend they are retired just in time for the season to barely start? Remember proven players have perks that other players dont. They have there roster spot and possibly there starting position injured or not. Many players dont show up to mini camps cause they dont have to, what makes them want to play in the training camp. Back in time players would smoke during practice and camp and they were so physically gifted they could take it easier then others and still compete.
Maybe this is an unspoken secret between the players themselves that is just unspoken. What you think? Does Brett Favre not want to be part of the process before the season begins?
Should we be embarassed to be bay area sports fans?....
The 49ers have been crap for the last 6 7 years or so. The A's who have been good have been terrible this year. Last year it seemed they traded away all of there best players and this year also. The raiders will be the raiders and everybody outside of raider fans just laugh at them. All so called professional analysts just tear the raiders up with either negative comments or jokes. The sharks blow it in the playoffs but are a good franchise. The Giants are the toast of the bay area but they have made bad with signing zito who has been playing well. They also have the Bonds case going around if you want to add that.
But the question will the 49ers raiders or giants shed some light on the bay area sports? I hope so.
Phillip Rivers/Shaun Hill
Is it just me or does shaun hill remind you of phillip rivers? Watch the way they both throw the ball. They both have an odd release that are very similar. They also look like they could be brothers maybe. The ball comes out there hands weird. Looks like they cant throw with much power. Check out film videos on both and tell me I am not right. I wouldnt mind having phillip rivers as my starter and maybe shaun hill will out perform this first round pick. I can not wait for the season to start! What ya think?
