Ok sooo there is this McNabb guy right....
Alright Washington Redskins fans we've added two new quaterbacks to our roster this offseason.
Rex Grossman and this guy Donovan Mcnabb.
Now i've been through the blogs and the internet reading alot of comments over the past few hours and it seems as though our fanbase either really detests this move or really is excited about it. But i'm not going to get into my opinion too much because its not MY team, it's our team we all love the redskins (i hope or kill yourself) and really want them to excell in the NFC East and the NFL as a whole. Now that, that has been said this move has made alot of people question Shanahan and Allen and the "New Regime".Understood. As fans of a franchise who spend their well earned money and time dedicated to the support of a team we have the right to voice our opinions and criticism's of the team. Alot of us say this is great we haven't had a good look at QB i think since Brad Johnson (just a fan voicing my opinion) , some say we finally have a leader behind center, or we have a perennial Pro-Bowler at the helm...
And on the other hand we say that this is a horrible move...how can we think about signing another veteran with age not on his side....why do we give away draft picks for another over the hill addition to our roster....Some want Jason at the helm...some want Rex to lead us to the promised land...(ha just playing)...others want to trade up for Sam Bradford or use the 4th pick on Clausen...or use the 37th on McCoy...like i said we are all allowed to voice our opinions we earn it every year all year with the support of this franchise...
But i will say this...it is not in our hands....and i only realized this after today no matter what we write, speculate, hate or love about what the Redskins are doing it's not in our hands...as much as we like to hate it Daniel Snyder is our owner and the man will do exactly what he always has...absolutely whatever he wants....we give up our 2nd round 37th overall pick and conditional 3rd or 4th rounder in next years for a guy....who forced his franchises hand to be traded to the Washington Redskins....when the Eagles in respect told Donovan about the teams offering trades for him...the Buffalo Bills and Oakland Raiders...he threatened to retire and not to sign a contract extension...he handpicked the Skins so he could play against a franchise and fanbase who has never given him the proper respect regardless of his accomplishments...im old enough to remeber when he got booed by eagles fans in 1998 because the didn't draft "Sir-Smoke-Alot" Ricky Williams..now granted he's had a decent career but its been nothing like what Donovan has done in Philadelphia....he comes here with a grudge to play with...he wants to beat the Eagles period...that is admirable to me...He has never been a problem child player he has always been a great leader and teammate and he plays the most important position on the field quite well.
Like I brought up earlier it is not in our hands no matter what we do...I for one have gone on a hell of a roller coaster ride this off-season enough...from firirg Vinny Cerrato (thank the heavens above), to adding a new head coach..general manager...offensive coordinator...WR coach...strength and conditioning coach....Samuels retiring...are we or aren't we going after Peppers...Artis Hicks...cutting 10 redskins veteran players...Ma'ake sigining...Larry Johnson...Wille Parker...Haynesworth working out on his own...Rex Grossman, and now this...
It really is a new regime and they are stocking this team with veteran players and thats all there is too it. We can watch or not they're going to do one thing im sure of run this team the way they see fit in order to win football games. I guess im just swallowing the pill of "i cant do anything about this it is what it is"...
So with that said Skins fans its only been a few hours and i'm still hot on the topic what do we think is next?
Get Dono some help make the effort to grab Brandon Marshall??
Leave Jason as the backup let McNabb tutor the young fella for the next few years??
Trade Campbell to the teams that wanted McNabb for maybe a 3rd or 4th??
I'm hearing some people throw Cooley up for grabs for some picks??
Sign Flozell Adams maybe??
use one of our trades for picks to still pursue Jared Gaither??
What i am saying Redskins fans in this attention deficit flavored blog is that what's done is done...let's move on and talk plenty of trash about the next 16 days leading up to the 2010 NFL Draft. This guy Donovan McNabb is now the Washington Redskins quarterback whether we like it or not....so lets see what good conversation we can stir up to get this man some help to put up more than the 20 points we average a game, keep those tender ribs from getting crushed....and c'mon people lets beat the fucking Cowboys,Giants and Eagles for once!!!!!!
let's not forget what makes sports as a whole great it is unpredictable and keeps on the edge of our seats and asking for more...
hail to the redskins....
My ideal Redskins 3-4 defense for 2010.....
Soooo with the FA period really lax for the Washington Redskins it has left alot of the fans curious, impatient, and imaginative as to what this new team will look like. As for myself i haven't been satisfied with a Redskins season since i lived down the street from RFK. But anyways in my bordem and curiosity i've read countless, blogs listened to every expert and fan opinion as to which direction the Skins should and should not go in on both sides of the ball. And for one i figured hey why not put in my two cents as a fan eff it.
From what i can see and read about it is pretty imminent or apparent that we as Skins fans are gearing up for a season as a 3-4 defense or some high speed form of it. Now in saying that i approve of the decisions so far on the defensive side of the ball and i think i'll add one or two. The Skins i believe have a pretty solid base at defense that despite the 10 player cuts we made have stayed intact...so i think that means after evaluation and plenty of film watching its pretty safe to say they are either waiting for camp to make more cuts or they like what we have and just want to add to fit in with there new scheme. Now we all speculated and wondered about Peppers and Rolle and Dansby but i for one didnt really think we needed any of them to be honest even though one of the three is an exceptional talent i shouldnt have to say who....i think that after we re-signed Daniels and added Ma`ake there are at least two more players i believe should be looked at.
I say O.J. Atogwe and also Andra Davis who just got released from the Denver Broncos.
I'll explain Andra first. Well for one i think he is a damn solid LB on the inside. He isn't flashy money hungry and it would seem as though he would fit into the caliber of player we want here for the skins. Now i thought about this and i said to myself what about Rocky McIntosh and i read that he is willing to be flexible and play at another LB spot. Now here are some stats that stand out to me for Andra....
A.Davis
Over his eight seasons played he has averaged 64.5 tackles a season.
In the seasons he has played all 16 games in (6/8) he has averaged 63.8 tackles a season.
He has 12 sacks in his career and 3.5 sacks in 09'
And in the last two seasons he has been in on 90 tackles in both.
In saying that i think that those are numbers well worthy of lining up next to Fletch in the middle. I think in signing Andra we we get a very consistent,DURABLE,bargained since that seems to be our direction this off season, and solid cover LB and solid tackler and run stopper to compliment London. I think as a Skins fan we need all those things in our defense. We all know that Fletch in his seasons with the skins has made a 100,96 and 95 tackle efforts after watching us not be able to tackle last year thats exactly what we need in the middle two proven veteran TACKLERS, guys who will swarm to the ball and make sure they get there man. Since the 2007 season London Fletcher is accounted for 403 tackles Andra Davis...247...im just sayin put these guys in the middle to stop rushing attacks and you can not be let down because of arm tackling, and those missed hit stick tackles Landry is famous for nowadays. Redskins fans imagine a defense with those two stopping the run game to a halt and putting our versatile guys a-la Orakpo and Rocky at our OLB's with the acquisition of one person who doesn't require us to pay Dansby money!! how effective could it be to leave the outside to two guys who can either play DE/OLB truly and let Fletch and Davis control the coverages while they terrorize offensive line blocking schemes. And here is the good part.
Ma`ake is a 6-5 345 lb legitimate NT and to his right will be all 6-6 350 lbs of the athletic Haynesworth. These to alone will command double teams and leave gaping holes in O-Lines for our guys to make pro-bowl stat sheets with. My point is our front seven could be deadly with what i believe one player and the right schemes and execution. Andre Carter would get freed up alot more because of it which makes it even better. Pressure on the QB is probably the key on defense for any team we can have it to.
Now to discuss this safety issue...
Horton is the man...after watching him and seeing fan responses he was one of the most favorable guys to follow last year on a forgettable season. Now i know everyone is sick of Laron after last year and want our last line of defense to actually be able to make those INT's and those game saving tackles...now just like JC i believe this is his last chance to prove he desereves to be a starter on this team...so what i am proposing is a slight shakeup....so im going to make it short and sweet fans...again Horton is the man...but there is just a wee bit more in experience i think he needs no big deal at all just some more playing time....you make that move for O.J. ..... Atogwe that is and seeing as how Landry has struggled at FS we move him back to his (air quotations"natural position")...now just like a job interview he has his chance to make his case for the job back there with a proven player like O.J.....its simple we see the same things from last year he sits.....Horton takes that spot at FS or SS whatever they feel necessary to work best...and we can't lose.....Atogwe & Horton ...Laron sits....everybody is happy in Redskin Land with two signings!!
Andra Davis & O.J. Atogwe!!!!!
the end.
hail....
p.s. defense wins championships.
