Chiefs Have a 2010 payroll number of 41 million
Listen, I understand that not every free agent wants to play in KC. However if we continue to have the lowest payroll in the league and not win, I will start getting very frustrated. This kinda irritated me a little. Oh well.
Chiefs lose with Falcons win of coin flip. The Chiefs 2nd round pick that was listed as #50 is now #51.
AFC North Free Agent List
The AFC North has some interesting unrestricted free agents this year. I know some of these players will be either Franchise or Transition Tagged, but I see some names in there that could help.
OL - Ryan Tucker and Bobbie Williams
WR - Derrick Mason, Kelley Washington, Mike Furrey
S Ryan Clark
CB Frank Walker
DT Casey Hampton (Pittsburg can tag two players this year)
TE LJ Smith and Reggie Kelley
They may not all be perfect in our system, but what do you think?
Zorn is stripped of his playcalling duties after loss to KC
Executive vice president of football operations Vinny Cerrato met with Zorn and told him that he has too many responsibilities right now, Redskins' director of communications Zack Bolno told ESPN.com's Matt Mosley. The team did not reveal who would call plays, but an announcement is expected on Monday.
AP (associated press) report is wrong and everyone is running it.
I know this sounds silly, but don't newspapers and media outlets check their facts before going to print? Did anyone else notice that the AP report that is also being run by ESPN and nfl.com is wrong when they mention Cassell was injured in week 2 of the preseason? At least they got the team right.
Why the Chiefs have an advantage after Saturdays cuts.
These are my thoughts and I might be wrong

Can I blame McDaniels for Marshall? He is going to help add 2 wins a season to our record. Sweet!!!!

Another positive for the Chiefs winning week 1
Hopefully we will catch the Ravens while they are vulnerable.
Brian Waters skips Charity Event
This is very surprising. Even if you aren't backing the team, why penalize your charity? Where is the class in that?

Raji rising, but not to Chiefs
As this article points out, Raji had academic issues that kept him out in 2007. "We want SMART tough football player". Doesn't fit the bill does he?
Johnson Pleads Guilty
Posted by ESPN.com's Bill Williamson
Johnson
Kansas City running back Larry Johnson pleaded guilty to disturbing the peace in two separate incidents at night clubs.
He was put on probation for two years. The Chiefs suspended Johnson for three games and the NFL gave him another game suspension for the incidents. He could still be further punished after his guilty plea but that seems unlikely since the team and the league have already addressed the matter.
With his legal issues taken care of, the focus is now on whether the Chiefs will keep Johnson. He has requested a trade and he has a grievance scheduled to recoup bonus money.
The new Chiefs regime has said it will keep an open mind regarding Johnson. If will be interesting to see if the troubled running back shows up for the Chiefs' offseason conditioning program that begins Monday.
Crennel chooses to rest hip
Posted by ESPN.com's Bill Williamson
The agent for former Cleveland head coach Romeo Crennel said there are no plans for him to be become the defensive coordinator of the Kansas City Chiefs.
There head been reports that said Crennel was mulling an offer from Kansa City. However, Crennel's agent, Joe Linta, said Crennel is fully focusing on recovering from a hip replacement surgery he had last month and that Crennel was fired by Cleveland at the end of last season.
"That is not going to happen at this time," said Linta of Crennel joining the Chiefs. "Coach is focusing on his rehabilitation and then he will entertain opportunities in both football and in the media. He is looking forward to what lies ahead."
Still, Linta didn't rule out the possibility of Crennel speaking to the Chiefs about a consulting role or coaching role down the road. Crennel was the defensive coordinator in New England when new Kansas City general manager Scott Pioli was there.
"Coach and Scott have always had a good relationship and I'm sure the line of communication between them will continue in the future," Linta said.
Kansas City has yet to designate a defensive coordinator. At the NFL combine last month, new Chiefs coach Todd Haley wouldn't discuss Crennel and said he was still working on his staff.
Davis to Visit KC
Free agent safety and special teams ace Keith Davis will visit Kansas City Thursday.
Davis led the Cowboys with 20 special teams tackles last season and started eight games.
There are several other teams interested but visits haven't been finalized.
"He's open to just playing football," Davis' agent Curtis Stephens said. "He's always open to playing for the hometown [Cowboys] team."
The Cowboys can't afford to lose Davis. He's one of the toughest players on the team and he brings leadership in the locker room. The fact Kansas City wants to speak with him tells you everything right there.
Todd Haley, who was the passing game coordinator in Dallas for a few years, knows what Davis means to a special teams unit. Haley knows special teams is important to a teams success.
Chiefs say no to Engram

I know the Kingdom will be happy to see this. I know I am. I think the same thing may happen with Hagans. This is a good thing Chiefs fans. We can find alot better FA WR with our cap room. It's refreshing to see that just because there was a link with Haley didn't mean we had to sign a player. Pioli is the man and every move makes me believe it more. I still want to know what happened today when LJ meet with the KC brass. Please chime in if anyone has a link or story that tells us something.
Anyone hear about LJ meeting Pioli and Haley?
Scout.com chiefs paid section has a forum post with the title "LJ meets with KC Brass". I allowed my subscription to expire due to lack of insider info, now I want more info. lol. I would love to be a fly on the wall listening to that conversation. "Can we count on you shedding that diaper LJ?" or better yet "Are you done spitting on women?" My daughters wear his jersey and I have banned them in the house. (Jerseys not daughters)
