Losing streaks
When the Royals lose tonight, it will be their 17th losing streak of at least seven games since the glorious 2003 season. That's 17 lengthly streaks in just over six seasons.
If they can manage to reach 10 straight losses, it will be their sixth slide of at least ten games since 2005. The rest of MLB has 16 such losing streaks combined. No other team has more than two.
The breakdown...
2004 - Streaks of 8, 8 and 7 losses
2005 - Streaks of 19, 9 and 8 losses
2006 - Streaks of 13, 11 and 8 losses
2007 - Streaks of 7 and 7 losses (strong year)
2008 - Streaks of 12, 7 and 7 losses
2009 - Streaks of 10 and 8 losses
2010 - Six and counting...
I guess grit is not a good thing after all
"He’s been gritting his teeth and trying a little too hard," manager Trey Hillman said. "Sometimes he’s been a little late on fastballs because he’s so amped up. He relaxed a little more today, and it played out well for him."
Grit and amped up in one sentence!
Moose and Hoz sit again
Two straight DNP's for both Moose and Hoz. Anyone know scoop? Maybe they beat each other up.
Duffy 5 no-hit innings last night.
Cortes rocked again
0-2 with a 7.78 in four starts since trade. Not justification, but perhaps some tiny consolation.
