Additional raw footage from the 1982 Big Game. KPIX posted some previously unseen footage on their web site so I compiled it here. Looks better if you watch it on YouTube. BTW, I was in the card section that day. We rocked.. #GoBears

Channel 5 said they found a bunch of previously unseen 1982 Big Game footage, but they only showed about 5 seconds of it! But one thing I did learn was that Joe Kapp's famous quote wasn't quite what we thought it was.

Two versions: a small-file version for those with slow connections, and a high-quality version for those who want to save a good copy. If you're one of those awesome people who seed throughout the season, please seed both files. Specs: 1.3 GB file size, mp4/h.264/aac, 960x540p, 30fps, 1 Mbps average bit rate (VBR). Specs: 4.8 GB file size, mp4/h.264/aac, 1280x720p, 30fps, 3.8 Mbps average bit rate (VBR). Actual video dimensions will be slightly smaller because I removed the ticker at the bottom. Please continue to seed for a couple of days until there are a lot of seeds. You don't need to keep your computer on all the time, just seed when you're using the computer. I recommend playing the files with VLC. :axe

So I'm providing two torrents per game now—a small-file version for those with slow connections, and a high-quality version for those who want to save a good copy. If you're one of those awesome people who seed throughout the season, please seed both files. Specs: 1.2 GB file size, mp4/h.264/aac, 960x540p, 30fps, 1 Mbps bit rate (2-pass VBR). Specs: 5.4 GB file size, mp4/h.264/aac, 1280x720p, 30fps, 5 Mbps bit rate (2-pass VBR). Actual video dimensions will be slightly smaller because I removed the ticker at the bottom. Please continue to seed for a couple of days until there are a lot of seeds. You don't need to keep your computer on all the time, just seed when you're using the computer. I recommend playing the files with VLC. BTW, the UCLA 720p file is my best encode ever, balancing quality and file size. I'm still learning. And one of the things I've learned in the last few weeks is how much Adobe sucks. Relying on their software for encoding video is a big mistake. Adobe sucks so bad it makes me mad that I've wasted so much time figuring out how to do things right. PS: Also I apologize but there is no Arizona State torrent because a technical problem prevented the recording of the game.

Cal at USC game torrent

Specs: 2.3 GB file size, mp4/h.264/aac, 960x540p, 30fps, 2 Mbps bit rate (VBR). Please continue to seed for a couple of days until there are a lot of seeds. You don't need to keep your computer on all the time, just seed when you're using the computer. Because of a few requests for smaller file sizes for faster download (mostly from outside the USA), I'm experimenting with a low bit rate. Compare to the Nevada game—same dimensions, 960x540p, but Nevada was 4 Mbps (high quality) and 4.8 GB file size. After you watch the USC file, I would appreciate your feedback. Do you prefer: 1. Small file size (~2.5 GB) for faster download and smaller storage. 960x540p and decent video quality. 2. Medium file size (~5 GB) for good video quality but 960x540p, slightly less than HD resolution. 3. Large file size (~7 GB) for good video quality at 720p HD resolution. If most people prefer the large HD file, I could create both a large and small file. I now have a 2nd computer that's powerful enough to transcode, so I could create a small file and a large file simultaneously. The only disadvantage is that it reduces torrent efficiency since the initial seeding is still limited by my upload speed, and seeders are split up between the two files (unless you seed both files, which would be cool).

Cal at Ohio State game torrent

6

Specs: 7.2 GB file size, mp4/h.264/aac, 1280x720p, 30fps, 6 Mbps bit rate (VBR). Please continue to seed for a couple of days until there are a lot of seeds. You don't need to keep your computer on all the time, just seed when you're using the computer. Sorry for the larger file size. Despite the loss this was a big game and a well-played game with some good highlights, so it's worth watching again just before next year's beatdown of the Buckeyes at Memorial Stadium. And I wanted to provide good 720p video for the guys making highlight videos.

Pro-tip on avoiding ulcers and feelings of rage: just watch the 2nd and 4th quarter. The Bears score 50 points in just one half of football! Specs: 4.8 GB file size, mp4/h.264/aac, 960x540p, 30fps, 4 Mbps bit rate (VBR). Please continue to seed for a couple of days until there are a lot of seeds. You don't need to keep your computer on all the time, just seed when you're using the computer. Screenshot 1 Screenshot 2

Relive the glorious re-opening of Memorial Stadium! Specs: 4.8 GB file size, mp4/h.264/aac, 960x540p, 30fps, 4 Mbps bit rate. Please continue to seed for a couple of days until there are a lot of seeds. You don't need to keep your computer on all the time, just seed when you're using the computer.

1982 Big Game torrent

8

This is a torrent of the Pac-12 Network's broadcast of the 1982 Big Game. Specs: 2.9 GB file size, mp4/h.264/aac, 960x540p, 30fps, 4 Mbps bit rate. (Please continue to seed for a couple of days until there are a lot of seeds. You don't need to keep your computer on all the time, just seed when you're using the computer.) I made a couple of improvements to the broadcast (besides removing commercials of course): 1. They have this ticker at the bottom of the screen that is a constant, annoying distraction. So I removed it. 2. They botched the editing of The Play itself. First, and this is a minor point, before Harmon kicked off, he pumped his arms in victory. I always snicker at this, but the P12 broadcast cut this out, so I restored it because I find it funny. Second, they didn't let Starkey's audio play out to the appropriate cut-off point ("There will be no extra point."). They cut it off too early to go to the commentary about the confusion before the TD was confirmed. So I replaced their footage and audio with other sources that I have, and did it right. Then I went back to the P12 program.

Time to re-watch the 2006 Oregon game (torrent)

2

I believe there are very few HD copies of the 2006 Oregon game in the wild, so I hope I can get some of youse guys to download this. Specs: 6.7 GB file size, mp4/h.264/aac, 1280x720p, 30fps, 5 Mbps bit rate. (Please continue to seed for a couple of days until there are a lot of seeds. You don't need to keep your computer on all the time, just seed when you're using the computer.) Do it!

Time to re-watch the 2007 Tennessee game (torrent)

9

I wrote a long post on BI about why you should download and watch the 2007 Tennessee game in preparation for coming back to Memorial Stadium. If you need convincing, go read it. Specs: 5.6 GB file size, mp4/h.264/aac, 960x540, 30fps, 4 Mbps bit rate. (Please continue to seed for a couple of days until there are a lot of seeds. You don't need to keep your computer on all the time, just seed when you're using the computer.) Do it!

Spring Game 2012 video. Remember to switch to an HD resolution to see higher quality. EDIT: At first I thought I was missing the 3rd Qtr, but the first video does in fact include the 3rd Qtr. Whoops.

Cal's first drive is missing because the previous game went on too long. But fun game, lots of O, and just enough D. High quality file, plays great in VLC. Specs: 1280 x 720p, H.264, 6 Mbps, 29.97 fps, 6.8 GB file.

Some of the edits may appear to be a little sloppy, but in fact they are very precise. I edited out as much extraneous furd content that was adjacent to commercial breaks as I could (furd promotional crap, furd crowd shots, Heisman talk, etc). High quality file, plays great in VLC. Specs: 1280 x 720p, H.264, 6 Mbps, 29.97 fps, 6.4 GB file.

Cal is on a roll—three wins in the last four games! High quality file, plays great in VLC. Specs: 1280 x 720p, H.264, 5 Mbps, 29.97 fps, 5.4 GB file.

Back to the big files! The wins are worth the full 720p and high enough bit rate to look good on a big screen. Unfortunately, like the UW game, the audio gets progressively out of sync so it's a few seconds off by the 4th quarter. Specs: 1280 x 720p, H.264, 6 Mbps, 29.97 fps, 6.2 GB file.

Re-live the frustration! Actually, if you went to the game, it's kind of cool to see the SF setting as portrayed by ESPN. Specs: 960 x 540p, H.264, 2 Mbps, 29.97 fps, 2.2 GB file.

The one bright spot from the Oregon game was Isi Sofele.

I know some of you masochists need to "review film," so here it is. At least the first half was good, and Isi was a bright spot. It's just hard to watch Maynard's passes (and Oregon's blatant holding) again. For this game, I made it 960 x 540p at 2 Mbps for a 2.6 GB file size. The quality of the picture is degraded a bit from the 5 Mbps I usually do, but it looks pretty good, better than I expected. Again, it plays best in VLC.

The link is to Chicagoaubear's tracker. Specs: 1280x720p, h.264, 5 Mbps, 29.97 fps, 5.8 GB. OK, these losses are probably not going to be popular torrents, but here ya go. This time I only have one initial seed, so it's gonna go slow, so be patient. Oh also, I prepared this file exactly in the same way as the previous games, but for some reason the audio progressively gets out of sync. It starts out fine but by the end of the game it's a couple of seconds out of sync.

The link is to Chicagoaubear's tracker. This is the same video as the YouTube videos but in one file, and the quality is a bit higher because YouTube always compresses your uploads. Specs: 1280x720p, h.264, 6 Mbps, 29.97 fps, 2.1 GB. Plays great in VLC.
