Jake Raulerson, Celina OL/DL -- The leader of the 2013 class won't be able to make the Junior Day because he's having surgery to repair a deviated septum that could help increase his stamina next season and take his mauling to the next level as a senior. Scary.

Burnt Orange Nation Nike helmet redesign

Blah, these concept designs suck, the only tolerable one is the orange helmet since its just a tweak to the original. Anyway here's the link to the UT Co-Op's facebook page who introduced a few possibilities from the new UT Nike Pro Combat line on their wall today.

So without further ado...

The Horn with Numbers

The Tacky Motorcycle Style Helmet

And finally...

The Color Inverted Classic

But I would rather leave our uniforms/helmets alone. Don't Mess with a classic.

Burnt Orange Nation Happy NSD Aggies!!!!

Congratulation on taking a top 20 class (15 Rivals/13 247/15 ESPN/20 Scout) and signing a few star players including 4* QB Matt Davis, 5* RB Trey Williams, and former Longhorn commit *4 WR Thomas Johnson. However please stop claiming that yall pulled one over on us by getting TJ, and that the move to the SEC is helping yall's recruiting. That is just ridiculous. I get that its been a crazy year for yall but come on, 20 decommits! Is that a record? Here's my list, feel free to dispute it, but trust me I checked everyone of these out.

Left under Sherman (7)
Lorenzo Phillips 4 star (LSU)
Davante Bourque 4 star (Tenn)
Denzel Devall 4 star (Bama)
Eric Davis 3 star (Okie St)
Jerald Hawkins 3 star (LSU)
Trevor Knight 4 star (OU)
Marcus Johnson 3 star (Texas)

Left under Sumlin (5)
Colin Blake 4 star (FSU)
Darion Monroe 4 star (Tulane)
Corey Thompson 3 star (LSU)
Michael Wilson 3 star (Okie St)
Bralon Addison 4 star (Oregon)

Will not qualify academically (8) per TexAgs
Marion Grice 4 star (AZ St)
Eddie Porter 3 star (Ark St)
Adrian Bellard 3 star (Texas St)
Dennis Smith 3 star
Logan David 3 star
Jaevon Richardson 3 star
Trent Momon 3 star
Troy Green 3 star

Now I don't have a clue how yall can recruit 8 players that don't qualify, but even without them yall still had 12 decommits. Sure go ahead and be proud with your "AgSwag" but please stop trying to justify how in some roundabout way yall are better than us or that ESPN is secretly downgrading Ag recruits as punishment for leaving the Big 12.

Thanks,

TowerPower

The state tournament will be moved from College Station and may land in Frisco, Round Rock, San Antonio, or Houston.

And fyi the Ags and others have already started blaming this on us...

Mountain West Connection What should I do in Reno?

Hey guys,

The wife and I along with another couple from the Great State of Texas will be heading to the Silver State to do one of the few things we can't at home, gamble and ski. We'll be skiing Heavenly at Lake Tahoe Monday to Thursday but will also be spending all day Sunday and Thursday night in Reno since they gave us free rooms. But having never really spent any significant time in Reno, I wanted to know if there's anything I have to do during my short stay. We'll be staying at Harrah's Casino and will have a rental car but we don't want to venture out too far from their, but any food or sight seeing recommendations would be helpful. Part of Sunday will be spent driving around from casino to casino so I can add to my $1 chip collection (78 and growing), but besides that we don't have any real plans so any suggestions will be helpful. Thanks in advance.

What conference is UTEP in again?

Mountain West Connection The MWC needs Mizzou to join the SEC

As a Longhorn fan I'm torn on this subject but as a MWC fan this seems obvious, Missouri joining the SEC is the best thing to ever happen to the Mountain West.  Why?

Well, the Big 12 was contemplating just expanding to 10 after losing A&M, but now they are worried that they will be seen as an inferior conference (despite what the stats say) if they only have 10 members while the other major conferences will have 12 (B1G/PAC), 14 (SEC/ACC), and possibly even 16 (ACC+UConn & Rutgers).  Not only are they worried about losing what little prestige they have left, many schools (primarily in what used to be called the Big 12 North) are worried about being left behind by TX/OU and know that there is strength in numbers.

Now many have speculated that the Big 12 may target MW members like Air Force, Boise St, UNLV, SD St, and potential/former members like BYU, TCU, and Houston; however it seems that their gaze has moved Eastward.  With the defections of Syracuse and Pittsburgh to the ACC, the Big East is ripe for the picking, and although many on here (including myself) beleive that many of the MW schools are better than the Big East schools the perception of adding current AQ's into the Big 12 will strengthen its reputation more than adding non-AQs.

Texas A&M sent a statement to Dan Beebe confirming that the Aggies will explore their options, and want to know about a timeline for withdraw and about any exits fees or penalties that they may incur assuming that they leave the conference.

Burnt Orange Nation What will Texas/Big 12 do?

Now that it seems that the Aggies are going to the SEC, what will the Big 12 and more specifically Texas do?

Will the SEC atop at 13 or go to 14 by grabbing Florida St?  Is 16 team super conferences around the corner?

Will the Big 12 stay with 9 and just split up A&M's money between them?

Will the Big 12 go back to 12 or just add one to replace A&M?  Who will it be?  TCU?  Houston?  BYU? All 3?

Will Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma St return to talks with the PAC12?

Is independence a real option for Texas?

Will Texas and Notre Dame team up and cherry pick the elite schools and form a new super league separate from the BCS and the NCAA?

TIME & DATE: 2:00 PM, Tuesday, August 16, 2011

Dodds asked how many Aggies were in the crowd. When one of the Aggies asked if airing high school games on the Longhorn Network would be an unfair advantage for Texas, Dodds asked the Aggie about the state 7-on-7 tournament featuring high school players on the College Station campus every summer.

Dodds smiled and asked, "Do you know how we feel about that tournament being in College Station?" Then he smiled and said, "You probably don't because we never talk about it."

If Texas A&M was to leave, Dodds said the Big 12 might seek to bring in another school. Dodds also said if there was not sentiment to hold the Big 12 together by the remaining members that Texas and possibly Notre Dame could join forces to create a new conference.

Dodds gave no indication that Texas would pursue the possibility of becoming an independent.

A top administrator at another Big 12 school said the possibility of some Big 12 schools talking to the Pac-12 could become a reality again if Texas A&M was to bolt for the SEC.

Per the moderators at the BobcatReport who has been in front of many of the movements within the WAC. Still take it with a grain of salt...

Ryan - "We have some unconfirmed sources that say Utah St. may be leaving the WAC. These are very early developments and unconfirmed at this point. Stay tuned to BR.COM for the latest..."

Jack - "I talked to someone I know and respect that said the same thing. I will follow up in the morning."

Ryan "We are hearing they may be headed to the MWC."

Mountain West Connection Conference Expansion and the Director's Cup

Bumped to the front page.

It's over, Stanford dominates once again for its 17th straight title, winning by nearly 300 points.  Ohio St came in second, followed by California and Florida, and the ACC had 4 schools in the top ten.  BYU finished 37th followed by TCU, New Mexico and Utah.  But I was curious to see the break down per conference and see how the 2010 and 2012 MWC would rank, so first I calculated how the conference looked this last year before the realignment and then what it would look like after, and here's what I found (AQ's, CUSA, and MWC only, nobody else is even close).

This was somewhat unexpected with so few spots left in the class, but the recent trend has been to add a scholarship kicker every other class, continued here with Jordan. The sixth-ranked kicker in the country by Rivals, the Coppell product is known for his ability to kick the ball out of the end zone and hit a 65-yard field goal at a recent kicking camp. He chose Texas over offers from OU, Texas Tech, Iowa State, and Illinois. --GoBR--

SBJ article reporting that ESPN is trying to line up distribution for the Longhorn Network and wants to charge 40 cents a month per subscriber in the states of Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. They are also trying to buy the television rights to a second Texas football game per season from Fox. (ht-freaked4collegefb)

For the last few months it’s been said that I made a statement that I didnt make…
so I think its time that I correct it. I never said that I wouldn't play defense. I said that I would prefer to play offense. I will play whatever the coaches (professionals) think is in my as well as the school’s best interest. One more thing I keep being asked why wont I go to UT well that opportunity has not presented itself….

Looks like it's going down. Likely a short stay, but getting DGB to campus is a big step. Of course, Texas will have to make a strong impression quickly because DGB has already made four trips to Norman and knows the Oklahoma program well. -- GoBR--

* Benson confirmed that the conference has three bowl tie-ins for 2011 and only one, the Humanitarian, for 2012.
* (When) asked what long-term league models have been discussed by the athletic directors and presidents, Benson specifically mentioned a WAC with 12 teams, at least 9 of which play football.
