The WAC officially invites Seattle to join

This locks them into a Big East hybrid type conference, and they still need to add an 8th football school.

WAC To Announce Further Expansion Plans Next Month

Bumped to the front page. UPDATE: from collegesportsinfo.com Rob Spear was on KIDO yesterday and he said this about the recent meetings. 1 – The WAC 5 don’t want to add more SW schools (no to...

Should San Jose St change its name to Cal St?

While I doubt this would have affected whether or not the MWC would have invited them to join the conference, I still think that this would be a huge boost for the school.

Sun Belt commissioner Wright Waters said North Texas, Arkansas State, Louisiana-Lafayette and Louisiana-Monroe are "not interested" in joining the WAC, which is searching to bolster its ranks even further after the recent additions of UTSA, Texas State and Denver. "All four have called and said, ‘Just to let you know, they’ve called, but we’re not interested,’" "I’m not worried about it. We’ve kind of moved on. There are other issues to worry about." One of those issues, he said, likely won’t be expansion, despite reports the league had entered into preliminary discussions with at least one potential addition. "I can tell you, beyond a shadow of a doubt, nobody in an official position has had any contact with anybody, (WAC member) Louisiana Tech or anybody else," Waters said. "We’re not afraid of that, but any expansion would have to bring huge value to our league."

Bascially the NCAA says they have to change their teams name or face penalties and the state just passed a law saying they would fine them if they did change the name, very humorous...

Things weren't looking to hot when he doubled hole 12, but he recovered with an eagle on 15, currently tied for 31st.

I assume its Louisiana Tech but it could also be NM St... If LA Tech left who would win the WAC? Utah St? Idaho?

Consider this: Texas A&M, after a nine-win season in 2010, has 17 commitments for its next class. But none of the Aggies' pledges are known to have received a scholarship offer from Texas. Of the 15 Texas commits, A&M offered at least 10.

Scout updates stars rankings

Big news is that Malcolm Brown and Caleb Jones both got the bump from 4 to 5 stars; Jinkens, Echols, Hughes, Riser and Boyette get bumped to 4 stars, and Bluiett and Norman both received 3 star recognition. Nobody was downgraded. Notable prospects Estelle and Starts were also bumped from 3 to 4 stars.

I think the Vandals should join the Mountain West because they have such a sweet prop plane...I took this with my iPhone from my flight home from Reno last weekend after skiing Tahoe for a week.

Big 12's 2nd tier TV deal with Fox could be worth 1.1 BILLION

7

That is not including the increase in revenue from the 1st tier TV rights with ABC/ESPN expected to happen in 2015. If this is right there is no doubt that Texas, A&M, and OU should get the 20 million they were promised last summer.

Biggest Recruiting Needs

  1. RB - Johnathan Gray
  2. 2 DBs- The Colemans, La Darrell McNeil or LB Timothy Cole
  3. OT - Kennedy Estelle & an OSS OT Peat/Theus/Humphries
  4. DL - DT Malcom Brown or DE Mario Edwards
  5. WR - Dorial Green-Beckham

Bruce Chambers Out, Tim Brewster Back In?

5

IF (BIG IF) Jesus is right, then this would be another slam dunk replacement...Chambers is rumored to be taking a job at DISD, and Brewster (our old TEs coach) who was just fired from his heading coaching job at Minnesota (and didn't get either of the heading coaching jobs at North Texas or Texas St) may be willing to come home. If I'm not mistaken he coached all three of our TE's in the NFL (Bo Scaife of the Titans, David Thomas of the Saints, and Jermichael Finley of the Packers).

That means we can be confident the SEC officially offered two schools last summer, -- A&M and Oklahoma, the two principal rivals of Texas. (The Longhorns may well have had an outstanding offer as well, but Texas was afraid of competing with real football schools and preferred to remain outside the conference so the SEC didn't believe it was interested in joining).

MWC decides NOT to add Utah St and San Jose St to get a CCG

11

now only the Big 12, Big East, and Sun Belt will not have CCGs (and the SB may add the remaining WAC teams...NM St, TX St, UTSA, and LA Tech to have one soon too). UPDATE: Looks like the WAC may once again survive, the MWC has tabled any expansion for now, they must think an AQs still possible or think that the Big East may expand and take Houston (or SMU) as a travel partner for TCU which would open the door for the MWC to snag UTEP and SMU.

UTEP President committed to league with Houston, Rice, SMU

4

Interesting news, I'm still not convinced they wouldn't jump to the MWC if actually offered, however it sounds like they are staying put....I'm just worried that UH/SMU will jump to the Big East or possibly even the MWC if they get a chance and leave UTEP high and dry with LA Tech and North Texas as replacements.
