Offenses will have their hands full this year trying to block guys like Terrance Knighton, Jeremy Mincey and rising star Andre Branch. A player which many(outsiders) forget about is Tyson Alualu, who could prove his worth this year. Not many know outside of Jacksonville that he hurt his knee in training camp in his rookie season(Supposedly the 1st day during Oklahoma drills). Which makes sense after seeing Alualu's name on the injury report almost every week because of the same knee for the past two years. This off season he finally got surgery on his knee and if he can average 2.5-3.5 sacks a year on one knee, imagine what he can do with two good knees.

After Tyson's first season he made the mistake of thinking the knee just needed to be rested during the off season. That seemed to be a good idea at the time as Alualu had a strong 2011 training camp and preseason. As the season went on Alualu's play was dwindling as his knee started to give him problems again. The pain was so bad, coaches didn't know he was going to play until right before kickoff. He showed me he does have mental toughness, because he still managed to play every game.

In 2010, Alualu was brought into be a pass rushing defensive tackle to pair with Knighton and after watching his college highlights, its easy to see why he was drafted in the 1st round. To see a guy his size that can move like that and always chase down plays on the backside, still blows me away till this day. In 2010, Pot Roast exploded and was the sack Ieader between the two tackles. After a bumpy start to Tyson's career, I predict this is the year he will show he is worth being a top 10 pick and offenses will have a tough decision deciding who to double team.

It will be interesting to see how much Alualu plays tomorrow night against the Ravens. He is my player tomorrow night to watch. Again, If healthy , I believe this will be a d-line to fear for many years to come.

Time is not on MJD's side

Personally, I don't agree with MJD being a no show and do agree with the fact he wants to negotiate his contract. You would think though with a new coaching staff, the more ideal thing to do is to negotiate while still attending team activities. By missing vital practice time, this creates an even bigger problem, because if he chooses to hold out during training camp, I don't expect him to have productive season like years past.

Not because MJD will be out of shape, but because when he returns he will be learning a new offense and a very complex offense at that. Right now he is missing a lot of installment of the new offense and if he reports mid training camp or at the end, I fear he may not fully catch on to the offense till mid season. Its like the rookies coming in last year trying to learn the playbook with no off season.

Im just saying, this is bad for the Jaguars, because they don't have his talent on the field and bad for MJD, because he is missing valuable time to learn the intricacies of the offense. With a new offensive staff, MJD has now given coaches a chance to look at other personnel and I'm not saying Rashad Jennings is MJD, but you don't win games anymore by handing the ball of 30 times. Balance my behind! The Giants, Packers, Saints, and Patriots sling the ball.

To conclude, time is not on the side of MJD and the longer he waits, the more he jeopardizes his chances of having a good year and possibly proving his worth. If Rashad has a good year, it may prove MJD is dispensable and why not get a first or second rounder for MJD. Again, I don't want to see MJD go, but this holdout doesn't look like its going to end good if it continues any further.

The way last year went for the Jaguars, the season couldn't have ended any faster. This time of year, everyone is undefeated and like every off season, there is new hope, new life and new hype. True jaguar fans know it is easy to be a jaguar fan in the off season, but many fans falter during the season. Maybe, just maybe, this year may be different.

After the always scrutinized Gene Smith quietly built a top 10 defense last year with not the biggest names in the NFL, he's now looking to do the same this year on offense. At least it was quiet until the splash of Justin Blackmon. A splash that sent a load roar through the town center, so loud you can still hear the echoes. Did the Jaguars really just draft the best play maker in the draft? it seems surreal. A perfect compliment to Laurent Robinson and Lee Evans.

Media members are now asking, " Is Blackmon the final piece the Jaguars needed "? Or you hear people making the statement, " Gabbert has no excuses ". Which both lead me to believe that there is an actual reason to believe the hype. While the defense was healthy last year, the jaguars were in every game till the end (except the Jets game). During this time, they were consist and watchable, which the jaguars lacked for years with Garrard at the helm. If the Jags can stay healthy, I believe Mike Malarkey will do his part and field an offense us Jaguar fans have been craving for.

I believe that strongly, because in Malarkey's 2 years of head coaching and 5 years of offensive coordinator, he only had two years he wasn't sucessfull. One, was because his quarterback was J.P. Losman and the other year was under Nick Saban in Miami. Other than that, his offenses ranked 5th, 7th, 7th, 10th, and 13th. The Jaguars are on the right track and I for one have my popcorn ready. Go jags!

After the most exciting draft the Jaguars had in recent memory, I am more optimistic then ever about the talent Jaguars acquired this year. The best receiver in college football the past two years, a pass rusher, which in many fans eyes is the final piece to the defense, a real punter, depth at defensive tackle till Knighton gets healthy and Mike " The Hammer" Harris. I'm so confident that I'm talking noise all day at work. Then after I got off work this evening, I decide to turn on the radio to my favorite local sports radio station 1010XL. What is the first word I hear? Punter.

What is the first word I hear? Punter.

All I heard was whining about how terrible the pick was and some how Tim Tebow got into the conversation, which made me almost turn it off immediately. I thought it would be over soon, than the radio announcer went off on Gene Smith for picking a punter in the 3rd round and how it can't be justified. Enough is enough. If he produces it doesn't matter where he was picked.

Why is the one negative of the draft the biggest news. Look at the over all picture. Some fans are excited about what the jaguars are doing. I am not from Jacksonville, but its sad when the local media talks bad about their own team. How do you expect people to get excited about the jaguars if the local media is not behind them. I was born in Tallahassee, so naturally I'm a FSU fan, but even when the program was in decline the local media was always behind the team.

The Jacksonville Jaguars put Jacksonville on the map and the city has grown since because of it. Sorry, just upset as a true jag fan. I wish Big Cat Country could teach local media on what fans want to hear. Justin Blackmon and Andre Branch have the talent that could push the Jaguars over edge and the Jaguars have the staff to use them properly. Its not the same old Jaguars. Some people are too blind to see that. Go Jags!!!!!!!!

With a new CBA, who cares about value!

I think we as fans forget that the old CBA is over and there is no more over paying rookies that never played a down in the NFL. Teams do not have to worry as much about matching value for that pick. In the 2011 NFL draft, the #7 overall pick was Aldon Smith. His contract was a four-year deal worth $14.38 million, including a $8.96 million bonus. So over four years he makes a whopping $1,355,000.00 per year.

My point is, if we know we need a wide receiver and a receiver has top 15 talent like Blackmon, Floyd, Jeffery, Hill, and Wright, DON'T MISS THEM! Trying to find a under the radar receiver and expecting immediate contribution is not being realistic. Offense sell tickets, but its also starting to win games. Its just my opinion, but it urks me when I see defensive end as our first pick in mock drafts. I know its a position we WANT to fill, but no one is laughing at our defense. I know you build a team from the inside-out, but this is year 4 for Gene Smith and its time his 1st round pick is out. Just keeping it teal.

I wanted to hear everyone's opinion about the Jaguar's uniforms. Should Khan consider changing the uniforms as another sign to Jacksonville and the national media that the 2012 Jags are not the same? Do you like the current uniforms? Is it just me or do their jersey numbers and last names look like it was ironed on right before the game? IMO, it really doesn't matter, but a change would be nice.

At 4-10 the Jaguars goals for the season have been reduced to finishing the season strong, helping Pocket Hercules win a rushing title and breaking the franchise single season rushing record. In the way are the Titans, whose defense has seem to lose some of its strength in recent years and is coming off a game where they let Donald Brown run for over 180 yards. What is surprising is that the Titans knew the Colts were going to run the ball to generate offense, because of a passing attack ranked 30th in the league with out Manning at the helm.

A start to accomplishing these goals, Pocket Hercules will need to repeat his performance he had the last time he visited Nashville. Pocket Hercules stiffed armed his way to 186 yards on 31 carries in the 17-6 victory. The NFL's leading rusher is going up against a 23rd ranked rush defense and a safety named Michael Griffin who is on several of MoJo's highlight tapes. If Pocket Hercules breaks through the first wave of Titans, look to see huge gains and possible touchdowns, because Griffin wants know piece of him. Who can blame him?

Pocket Hercules earned his name by the unusual amount of strength compacted in a 5'7 running back and in this week's "clash of the titans" fantasy owners will be happy.

Keep'n it teal!

Pocket Hercules earned his name by the unusual amount of strength compacted in a 5'7 running back and in this week's "clash of the titans" fantasy owners will be happy.

Keep'n it teal!

At 3-8, the Jaguars offense is largely to blame with a offense ranked last in the league. Yes, the Jaguars have a rookie quarterback that has not looked like a franchise quarterback and the worst receiving core in the league, but our offensive line doesn't know how to pass block.

I think we as Jaguars fans are asking too much too soon out of Blaine. Pocket presence is usually something a quarterback develops over time and right now Blaine doesn't have that. To help a rookie quarterback you need good pass protection and he hasn't had one series, half, or game where he had good protection. This offensive line has been tops in the league in sacks given up over the past few years.

Last year's Dallas Cowboys showed that you can have the best receiving core, but the quarterback still needs enough time to get it to them. So we as fans need to start pointing the finger at offensive line.

After Wayne Weaver stripped Del Rio of defensive play calling to get a chance to coach up the overall team, you can tell there isn't much coaching going on. The head coach should have at least one goal line play stored away in his bag of tricks or have the ability to draw up a play based on how the defense is playing. Not just leave it up to the offensive coordinator to call the right play. Del Rio is no longer calling the defense and its like his job has been reduced to throwing bad challenge flags. I am just saying if Del Rio doesn't know anything about offense and play calling, what is he doing?

It seems to me that the defense is blossoming under Mel Tucker granted the free agent signees. Coincidence? The Jaguar's defense that helped lead the team to a playoff run in 2007 was coached under current Atlanta Falcons coach Mike Smith. It was led to believe Mike Smith left because he and Del Rio got into it on the sidelines during the Jags vs Pats 2007 playoff game. Mike Smith wanted to blitz Brady, but Del Rio wanted to play off and keep everything underneath. That didn't work out so well, Jags lost. Mike Smith has gone on to Atlanta and has been successful so far in his career.

The next year, Gregg Williams comes in as the titled defensive coordinator, but this year Del Rio was more involved in the playcalling. 2007-2008 Jaguars record was 5-11. Gregg Williams went to New Orleans next year and wins a super bowl. Coincidence? Think not.

We need an X and O coach, one that can make in game adjustments on offense and defense. Not just a motivator.

After losing 5 games in a row, you wouldn't want to lose anytime soon either. One win doesn't get the taste out of your mouth. This years team has pride. Expect the same intensity you saw Monday night, because again the national media expects Texans to win. Rightfully so, with our record, but Del Rio can still use the "Respect Theme". Yes, the offense is struggling, but the defense knows they have to carry the offense and have the weapons to do so. Wake up Jag fans! Our defense is for real and have yet to play their best football.

Remember when Del Rio said his defense was close? He was right. Well, he just said that about our offense.

As bad as our receiving core is, Gene Smith will stick to his code of conduct and ignore T.O.

T.O.'s agent tweeted that he is 100% and ready to sign and I'm not going to get my hopes up. With the worst passing offense in the league I think he should. If I was Del Rio, I would try anything to save the season and his job. Jack may not be around next year to get a franchise wide receiver. Jack may have to jack up Gene Smith to realize his job is on the line. The Jaguar defense is clearly not the problem and the jag's wide receivers and o-line is. At least make an attemp to correct one of them.

If T.O. can stay calm in Buffalo, maybe he has changed. Plus he has to be on his best behavior because I heard he needs the money.

Well isn't this exciting news and no one is happier the Rams released Mike Sims-Walker than than the Jaguars who receiving core has struggled since his departure.

Entering the season the Jags thought they would be better off without the injury prone Sims-Walker with the optimism that Jason Hill and young receivers on the roster will improve. Simply put, they were wrong.

This time around Jaguars know Sims-Walker is not a #1 receiver and should go back to the #2 receiver where he is most comfortable. I'm not saying they will, but the Jags should keep Jason Hill at the #! position, because he has the speed to stretch the field unlike Sims-Walker. I believe Hill will benefit from the attention he will get because I'm sure Blaine is happy to have a receiver over 6 feet with some talent. in 2009 & 2010, he had at least 11 plays for 20 yards or more and recorded 7 touchdowns in each season.

Another receiver who will benefit from this recent addition is Mike Thomas who can go back to the slot, where we have seen none to little production from Dillard and Shorts. Mike Thomas can work underneath and have more one on one coverage and turn short passes into long gains.

Sims-Walker is flying in now and with his previous knowledge of the playbook, I expect him to play a big role starting Monday night. Besides last year's embarrassment on Monday night football, the Jaguars usually play good at home with the lights on. It will be very interesting come Monday night to see if Sims-Walker can spark the passing game and the Jaguars offense.

1) Marcedes Lewis- Pro bowler and tied the franchise record for touchdowns last year. Lewis is a match up nightmare at 6,6. Lewis is hard to miss and should get a lot of keys looks in the red zone and on crucial 3rd downs.

2)Zach Miller- If this guy can ever stay on the field and off the injury report, he will also create another mismatch problem. I hear that he is bigger and faster than Dallas Clark, which is a huge comparison.

Good defense + Gabbert - Turnovers = Wins

By following this formula I believe the jags will tally enough wins to make the playoffs.

Good defense + Gabbert - Turnovers = Wins

By following this formula I believe the jags will tally enough wins to make the playoffs.

Good Defense

The Jags proved they have a good defense in week one, but against the Jets, the Jags defense was put in tough situations thanks to the offense and special teams . To a person that didn't watch the game the score looked like the Jag's defense played horrible, but that wasn't the case. This Sunday versus Cam Newton and their high power offense the defense can earn their respect. By having the ability to shutting down opponent's run game, the defense is forcing opposing offenses in 3rd and long. Which is a defense and defensive coordinator's dream. They are showing better pressure on the quarterback this year and making him uncomfortable. Jaguars defense is now the strongest unit for this team and will have to keep the offense in position to win games.

+

Gabbert

Some believe by playing Gabbert that the season is over. Oh noooo! Calm Down. This guy was heavily considered to be a #1 pick. A possible #1 pick should be better than Garrard or McCown. Even with Garrard, the past two seasons the Jags were in position to make the playoffs. So the Jags are not taking a step back, they are moving forward. No more 4-5 interception games. Now, Blaine will throw interceptions this year, but not in bunches like previous years where Garrard didn't give the team a chance to win the game. If he throws any where around 15 TD's and 5 interceptions, I'm Happy! Which leads me to my next point.

-

Turnovers

Its simple. The team with less turnovers win. Garrard over the past 3 years wasn't the best in this catagory. The majority of the jags losses came by them beating themeselves in this area and jags fans know when the Jags lose, they surely know how to lose. The Del Rio saw the same trend this past Sunday that they saw in previous years. It had to be a quarterback change. If Gabbert in the offense can avoid 2 plus turnovers games, will give the jaguars a chance to compete and squeak out a couple of tough wins.

=

Wins

I think the Jags can execute all 3 phases and will find themselves in the hunt again in December.

Its the NFL jag fans. You can't judge them week to week like college. Its all about who has enough wins at the end of the year to qualify for the playoffs.

We are in year 3 of rebuilding, the year we should start seeing results. I believe Gene has managed to come close to replacing the 2007 defense that led the Jaguars to a 12-4 season. Three key peices to that defense was Stroud, Henderson and Mike Peterson. Plus Rashean's pro bowl year, but that's another story.

1. Knighton

Now in his third year will continue to show he is one of the best unknown DT's in the league, now that he has his weight under wraps. What a steal he was out of Temple in the 3rd round! He will face double teams this year, but it will not be often because of the next guy.

2. Alualu

Year two, top 10 pick, needs to show me his worth and I have no doubt he is ready to go in beast mode. I really hope his knee is fine, if so that spells trouble for opposing guards and centers. He has shown signs this year he is ready to dominate and show why he was a top 10 pick. What is awesome is he will have the advantage of playing next to Knighton. Pick you poison! Chris Johnson will have difficulty dodging the Jags AK (Alualu and Knighton for the people that are slow).

3. Poz

The final piece to the puzzle. Kirk Morrison tried to fill this role last year, but we found out that we just need to stop doing trades with the Raiders permanently. Poz is a guy that plays with fire and has enough athletic ability to shed blockers and make tackles. He will run free on Tennessee all day because he plays behind AK.

When Jack said his defense will be good, its because they will stop the run this year. Its up to the secondary to determine if they will be a great defense.

Not that Garrard was cut, but to cut him for Luke instead of Blaine, you have to have big balls to make a move like that. I stated in another post that McCown was the better quarterback the past 2 preseasons and was on the verge of taking Garrards position last year until his season ending injury.

I don't know if anyone heard Jack Del Rio on his radio show several weeks ago, but he said something interesting. When asked about the Gabbert vs. Garrard quarterback battle, he replied. "David is our starter, but if you want to ask me which quarterback had the best traing camp, that will be Luke McCown".

So that made me think. If David Garrard struggles in the first few games and Blaine shows no progression in the preseason, I think Luke is the guy putting down the clipboard. If it wasn't for a knee injury, Garrard probably wouldn't be here. After David gets pulled out of the game in San Diego last year, Luke lead the team right down the field and gets hurt. Before then, he was showing great signs in the preseason. After coming back from surgery, he has came back with a focus. With a solid training camp and a nice cameo in the Atlanta game, don't be suprised if Luke has a great night against the Rams.

I want Gabbert to Start, but he has to take the starting position. If Garrard continues to look bad through out 3-4 weeks, dont be suprised if they call on Luke.

I admit, I was upset with how things went in the first quarter and a half. After two significant drives before halftime, David Garrard and the Jaguar's offense stepped up to score 10 straight points to bring us back within 7. IMO, after you feel like you played your worst and your only down 7, that's encouraging. Granted, you don't want to dig yourself a whole early in games, but its get to know you can identify your mistakes and make in game adjustments.

Our first and second stringers went on a 32-0 after being down 17. Wow, that's not the old jaguars I know. The old jaguars would have folded and just when you thought they could do any worse, they do.

Fans are seeming to forget that we had a handle on the before the bottom roster players fighting for jobs got on the field( Or hat I call 11 individuals trying to make every play). The preseason is all about building on the positives and correcting the negatives. The Jaguars 1st string defense was looking impressive after 2 preseason games. Now that the defense got knocked off its high horse, they now know they have things to work on, if they want to be a top defense. I prefer mistakes now rather than in the regular seasons. You can't get mad about games that no one remembers a year from today.

The offense, finally scored a touchdown. Who better to get it then the man under so much pressure. Not many of our receivers ever get open, because our running game is ineffective.Once the jags get MJD back, trust me, the jags will see 8-9 in the box and more 1 on 1 coverage with our receivers.

There is far too many emotions put into these preseason games.

Put down your pitch forks and torches till the regular season.

How good will the Jaguars defense be?

It's too early to determine, but they have great potential. Can they gain chemistry and trust with the new additions by the regular season? If they can and the Jaguar's impact players( Kampman, Poz, Sessions,Daryl Smith, Landry, Alualu, Roth, Mathis, Cox, Coleman and Knighton) can stay healthy the full season, we have a great chance of making the playoffs.

How does this play into who I like to start at quarterback?

I think the defense could play a role, because the better the defense the less you ask of your quarterback and can continue to pound away with MJD and Rashad Jennings. Also get into your play action fakes, a control the clock offensive attack. I think David is perfect in this role.

On the other hand, the new additions never gel and we have injuries to impact players. Therefore, in most games like the Saints, Colts, Steelers, Falcons, Chargers, Texans, Ravens and Bucaneers will have quarterbacks that will expose our defense. This will force our offense to get out of our running game and pass. I think Blaine is perfect in this role.

Do you feel comfortable with David or Blaine throwing 30-40 times a game?

If our defense isn't up to par, that may happen. Forcing David to throw is a win for the defense. David is good for having 1-3 good drives a game passing down the field. If your asking more than that, then Dave will throw interceptions.

If you drafted a quarterback in the top 10 of the draft and call him your franchise quarterback, the organization must think he is a quarterback that can lead the team. I don't know yet for myself, but you know what you have in David. If Blaine is already equal to Dave after 3 weeks, I would rather have Sunshine in a shootout.

Do you expect a better David Garrard in 2011?

It now seems like the deciding factor is can David Garrard remain healthy and again how good the defense plays. If healthy, David will hope the defense will not put him in tough situations. If so, I expect his touchdowns will equal last year and his interceptions will drop. At the age off 33, its hard to see his skills still increasing.

Why are we still talking about a quarterback competition week 2 of the preseason?

That's because Blaine's "arm" has spoken for himself. We hear so much because he has been that good in practice. You hear he is consistent and never makes the same mistakes. Also Jason Hill and Kampman added gas to the fire when saying he has "IT". This comment caught my attention, " You can see it in David sometimes". Wow! This is coming from your supposedly #1 receiver Garrard. Blaine isn't only winning over the fans, he is starting to win over his teammates.

The likely hood of our defense to be great this year is not in our favor. Good, better than last year, but not great.

I say start Blaine if he continues to impress.

How good will the Jaguars defense be?

I was wondering was anyone going to post a live stream of Jags vs Patriots here on the website, because me and a couple of co-workers will be stuck at work and cant view the stream unless its posted( Manager cut us off). So, hopefully someone out there in Big Cat Country can help me out. I'm begging you. We love WOKV radio for the pregame, but when it comes to the game, its nice to see live action.

This article is in reference to the latest hot topic of who is going to make the 53 man roster. I have found that this year it is more difficult to make the final cuts because we have more talent on our roster. In previous years there was a drop off of talent after the starters and it was a clear who was not going to make the team.
With competion at the quarterback, wide reciever, defensive end and safety position, its clear to see the 2011 Jacksonville Jaguars are not the old jags.

Gene Smith, now in his 3rd year off rebuilding has started to add some talented additions to the roster. With only a week of practice, the talent this year is so tough to decide without seeing them play under the lights. Us as fans have to just be patient and just let things play out before we pencil them in.

This is good news for the Jaguars and Jaguar fans for 2 reasons.

1. High level of competition makes not only the players better, but the team overall.

2. I believe it will increase our chances of ending our streak of falling off in December. I say that because before our starters had to play so many snaps during the course of the year, because there was a huge drop off in talent with the backups.

Also, the Jaguars were depending on a lot of rookies over the past 2 years, who weren't used to the long NFL season. Now with less rookies at important positions, we have the experience to play at a high level all season and hopefully make a playoff run.

Shot out to Gene Smith for finally putting some talent on the roster. Its going to be the year the Jags will have the NFL analyst biting their tongues.

It looks like the colts will have at least 1 rookie at the right takle position and possible another at the left tackle position. It will be hard to find a legit left tackle at this stage of the year who is not being released. Also, they have a rookie starting at left guard in Ijalana . Thats 3 new additions to the offensive line.

So when we play the Colts look for Kampman, Alualu, Knighton and Lane to have a field day.

Jags are taking the crown this year!!!!!!!!

Matt Estrada- (Safety) Northern Arizona

Marc Shiechl- (DE) Colorado School of Mines

Jo Jo Dickson- (LB) Idaho

Armon Binns- (WR) Cincinnati

DeJuan Harris- (RB) Troy

Jamar Newsome-(WR) Central Florida

Where do I begin? If you haven't seen tape on Matt Estrada, I encourage you to. He plays fearless and has great football instincts. When I saw him hitting like John Lynch in the SNOW!!!. I said that is a Jaguar. He not only comes up in run support, but he will lay you out if you catch a ball near him and if you throw away from him, he will pursue the play and make the tackle with force. If he can bring that same passion to training camp he will make the team, because the position lacks depth.

Moving on to Marc Sheichl. He was dominating has opponents and has all the ability to make up for his lack of weight with his strength(38 reps on bench press). I like his motor to go along with his 4.6 40 yard dash. If he can hold up against the run, he will be a beast. We have few DE's that can pass rush and stop the run.

Next, Jo Jo Dickson. Looking at him on film, he is a leader and is athletic enough to be effective in pass coverage. Nothing to do with football, He has a lot of hair like Troy Polamalu, so its easy to see him flying around. I like him because, he can help against teams with an receiving tight end. His 40 yard time is okay (4.7), but he doesn'thave stiff hips and showed good technique during his pro day. Will have chance because lack of depth.

Armon Binns. I saw him live during the year with Tony Pike at QB and Coach Brian Kelly was there. He is a good option to have on the field to open your offense. If he can catch consistently and run routes. He has a good chance to make the team.

DeJuan Harris- One thing the Jags know how to scout is running back talent. He was part of the 1-2 punch with Jernnigan. His highlights were 21-24 minutes long. He has great vision and despite his size, he will run up the middle and knows hot to set up his blockers. It's ashamehe will not make the team because of the depth at the position. But if someone gets hurt, watch out for this kid to step in.

I almost forgot one. Jamar Newsome. A play mayker that has the moves and can score everytime he catches it. Lets hope he can stay injury free unlike the last person we got from Central Florida(Mike Sims-Walker). Chance to make the the team or practice squad.

Lets go Jags, see you at training camp!!!!!!!!!!!

I am going to get straight to the point. I feel there is two positions the Jags must go after. The first, is defensive end.

I know..... A lot of you feel that we have a lot of young talent with Jerey Mincey(potential, not young), Austin Lane, Larry Hart, and Aaron Morgan. The problem is Jack Del Rio. Does he trust that Wayne Weaver will keep him around like he said if they contend for a playoff spot and not make the playoffs. He may not. I firmly believe that a dominate front 4 that provides pressure will always give you a chance to win.

Perfect example: 2010-2011 National Champions Auburn Tigers (They had a terrible secondary that constantly gave SEC recievers 100 yard games. But pressure bust pipes!

Guys we should target are:

Tambi Hali, DE, Chiefs. Age: 27

A monstrous pass-rusher, he registered 14.5 sacks.

Ray Edwards, DE, Vikings. Age: 26.
Ray Edwards had a tremendous year, registering eight sacks and shutting down the run on his side.

Charles Johnson, DE, Panthers. Age: 25.
Became the fifth Panther ever to record double-digit sacks (12) in 2010. He was dominant from the left end position all year.

The second, is free safety.

Guys we should target:

Eric Weddle, S, Chargers. Age: 26. Excluding Ed Reed and Troy Polamalu, Weddle might be the best safety in the NFL

Quintin Mikell, SS, Eagles. Age: 30.
A Pro Bowler who excels both in both run support and pass coverage. Nothing else to be said. WE need him despite age.

Atari Bigby, SS, Packers. Age: 29.
Atari Bigby is an above-average safety who always seems to be hurt. Like Kampman, if he can prove he is healthy, he may become a steal.

I didn't think that the Jags have to spend a lot of money on a super star linebacker when you have you have a dominate front 4 occupying blockers to allow the linebackers to fly around. Just make sure we get sure tacklers like a Stephen Nicholas, Thomas Howard(Kirk Morrison ex-teammate), or Manny Lawson. If we re-sign Kirk Morrison, I believe we have a defense poised to make a playoff run.

Feel free to agree or diagree.

I am going to get straight to the point. I feel there is two positions the Jags must go after. The first, is defensive end.

What's up Jag fans!!! I just had some questions in mind about our defense and our quarterback position. So here is my interesting office topic of the day. Every great defense has its bad day, whether you are the Baltimore Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers or Green Bay Packers. But they all have one thing in common..."A quarterback they believe in". No matter how they play they know that if they can make a couple of stops or a couple of turnovers, then they can be right back in the game and win it. I asked the question, if the jags defense is not playing good or great, do you feel confident that Garrard can put the team on his back and lead us to victory? and the reponse was.................

I asked the question, if the jags defense is not playing good or great, do you feel confident that Garrard can put the team on his back and lead us to victory? and the reponse was.................

Nooooo!!!!!! and let me tell you why. This is what I heard when I asked the question and people replied with no hesitation. A lot of people said you dont want Garrard to throw the ball over 20-25 times a game because that is not his game. So I ask , "why have a quarterback that you don't want to throw the ball?"

I tend to think that Indy has an average defense with great defensive ends, but overall the defense is okay. The difference is a great quarterback that always gives them a fighting chance. So I think the jaguars felt that they can't turn their defense from poor to great in one year, but if they can make their defense good through free agency or the NFL Draft and draft a franchise quarterback(a passing quarterback), it may get them over the playoff hump.

I know we haven't seen Blaine Gabbert play a down in the NFL yet, but it will create believe in the team that they can win, even if they are down 10-17 points. Right now, if a team goes up 10-17 points with Garrard a quaterback, immediately every fan gets nervous.

A lot of the people I associate with feel if the opposing team goes up and David has to throw, teams know to pressure David all day and he will eventually throw you a pick or he will take a sack for a huge loss. I think the Jaguar organization feels they need a quarterback to be able to make quick reads, throw the ball before they are open, be accurate and not throw the ball when you see them open, because by then it is too late.

Also I feel teams don't respect Garrard's passing ability and respect MJD, so we often face 8-9 defenders in the box. At least Gabbert will get that 8th to 9th defender out of the box, which will help MJD and possibly give him a longer career. Also Gabbert does make the reads(proof is on NFL network with Steve Mariucci when Gabbert went to the chalk board and decribed his reads on a certain play) , throws before the reciever is open( I watched some of his highlights and still couldn't believe how early he threw the ball and it was on target), and accurate.

Do you start a quarterback, which should be the leader of your offense, that you feel can't win you a game by himself?

I already knew this, but I wanted to let every know that with a few free agent signings, the Jags will be heavy playoff contenders. Until this lockout ends, I encourage everyone until then to educate themselves with our recent draft picks and see it was a great draft. No matter what ESPN and NFL Networks says. Remember the last time the media thought we were a super bowl contender, we went 5-11.

What's up jag fans? Really quick, I just wanted to give you guys something else to do to get you by this brutal off season. After doing some research I found 3 football studs entering the NFL draft that would instantly change our offense or defense. If the Jaguars can draft either one of these guys, if not all, they will command attention when teams face us.

Note: I'm not going to write a whole story about these guys, but suggest that you youtube these guys and see for yourself.

A. Aldon Smith( Defensive end, 6'4 260 lbs with freakishly long arms to separate from bigger linemen and uses his speed to close on the quarterback)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBee49viSK8

B. Martez Wilson (Middle Linebacker that's 6,4 250 lbs and runs a 4.4!!!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHEqRiHAIV0

C. Jerrel Jernigan (Wide receiver, since Jaguars passing game(or Garrard) consist of a lot of intermediate passes, then we need a play maker that can turn the short passes into long gains and this is the guy!)

The Jaguars organization is trying to create new forms of stadium entertainment to create an experience that fans can't feel at home. It made me start to think, because I couldn't imagine Jacksonville without the Jaguars. Check my bright idea out after the jump that could possibly bring life to Everbank Field and make it a homefield advantage!

With out putting my business out there, I am lucky to be from a city that has 2 great bands...Florida State University Marching Chiefs(World known warchant) and Florida A&M University Marching 300(Which you go to the game JUST to watch them, not the football team). Soooo by now you now where I am going with this right?. I moved here in Duval in 07' and fell in love with the Jaguars and have stuck with them since thick and thin. After attending the Jaguar games, I noticed the nfl experience has a lot more.......corporate feel to the game. To put it simple, its too quite at times. It was totally different for me, though it was nice to see nfl stars on the field. But instead of hearing a fight song during timeouts, you here bad music on a terrible sound system. The nfl hasn't been in Jacksonville that long, so most of are college fans at heart(Seminoles, Gators, Bulldogs, and Hurricane fans). So why not create a more college atmosphere? Why not have a band play a funky jam when we score a touchdown, which can potentially become apart of Jaguar tradition in the future. Not just a DRUMLINE! Are you kidding me!!!!!! We love our bands in the south, so I think this will also help us die hard college fans transition to die hard Jaguar fans that actually go the game. What do you think?
