Tomahawk Nation Thoughts from Nashville

In 2010 I had this bold idea that I would leave my desk job in DC and move to Nashville to become a musician. Being a bit less well off than I'd prefer, I haven't been able to make it out to many FSU events and I jumped at the chance to see FSU play @ the NCAA Tourney. Anyway, I'm not sure why I'm explaining all of this, maybe just to say that the 97.50 hurts a bit more than I'd like to and thinking about other people, especially in Nashville, in similar situations makes me respect those who do not talk trash to the other team's fans after games.

As for the game...

Met David Spurlock's dad yesterday

Class act of a man. Took out his groceries for him. Asked him about the team, told me his son is working through that concussion. Only time in my life I've been star struck. Was crazy. BT-Dubs, anyone in the Nashville area?

Tomahawk Nation Stats from the Loony Bin - Staying on the Brightside

After having watched college football with the most passionate of people, I find myself detached from reality. While many people are calling into question the talents of our new staff due to some glaring weaknesses of our current team, many people are missing where FSU is really shining right now.

ESPN College Gameday - 1 and Done

ESPN, as usual, is missing the mark. They are stating that more legislation to keep athletes in school and in class is what is necessary to keep these superstar players interested in the NCAA game. However, this feels criminal as when a player turns 16 he is legally allowed to join the workforce. If the workforce has demand for his skills, then he should be able to make money for his skills. If a young genius student invents a new product and attempts to sell it to a business no one is telling him that he cannot because he is under 19. The real issue is that the current supply of NBA players is terrible, and until there is an upgrade in fundamental talent across the board there is going to be a continued demand for undeveloped, raw athleticism. So lets take off this 19 year rule and lets get the NBA a stock of players that are so good that it would be unattractive for a franchise to take an undeveloped athlete as they could not compete at that level. If the college game never returns to its stature, so be it; these guys are bidding for a high risk job. If someone wants to pay them to play let them play.

My greetings would be something like:

Welcome to the class Mr. Elam. As you know, you will become a very important piece to our 2010 recruiting class.

We are all very aware that your decision may have centered around your relationship with Urban Meyer, and we are saddened by recent events that may result in us never have a shot at beating him and his UF team. We, of course, wish him a speedy recovery to resolve this issue.

Again, welcome to the team, and prepare for the most feared defense in all of college sports.

Tomahawk Nation Thank you Bob

Often it is the memory of those that love us the most that make it so hard to let go. Whether its a father watching his son put on a helmet for the first time, or that very same son sitting by his side during his final hours--the legacies that we leave in this life, the legacies that we are bound to create--bind and blind us during our hours of reckoning.

So on this eve of anticipation, during this hour of reckoning, let us forge from this storm the memory of a great man--a man, who even in his twilight hour, embodies what it means to be a Florida State Seminole.

Unconquered: is Bobby Bowden. Unconquered in his spirit and unconquered in his soul. No better suited is an end for a man who never backs away from a fight; never quits on the ones that he loves. And while his vision may be impaired and while we may question his intentions let us remember this:

Bobby never quits on the one's he loves.

Embrace those times when there was no one that he loved more than FSU; that there was nothing that he wouldn't sacrifice for FSU. He gave his time, he sacrificed for his family and he has given us many memories never to be forgotten.

It is those legacies that are hardest forgotten that are the hardest to let go.

Thank you Bobby Bowden for giving us so much to fight for.

Tomahawk Nation Some Observations; Remove Bobby Petition

Found this petition online

Fire/Remove Bobby Bowden

Anyway, I posted these thoughts here and there throughout the site, but I really felt it needs its own post because I feel that there are a lot of conflicting views here and we just need a spot to duke it out.

Make sure to take the leap...

Vengeance -- Why it may be good the Hurricanes won

I'm putting the spin in spin here, but with FSU's reputation as of late, if FSU came out and beat the Hurricanes and then BYU, the respect we would have been given would have been negatively disproportionate to our accomplishment. Whereas, the Hurricanes respect is going to get positively disproportionate to their accomplishments. In any case, our team should be focused on getting into that ACC Championship game. Miami most likely will be our opponent and will be coming in much over hyped as ESPN is soaking up the love for a team and a quarterback who is quietly proving that if you as so much as touch him he will throw an interception (trust me on this... no one is talking about this because no one has really pressured Jaccori). We will be coming in as a team that will be consistently making people look bad. ESPN will play this down, as Miami will most likely beat Oklahoma and ACC Championship game will be served with a nice can of Vengeance. A can of Vengeance that is stacked high and tall. Vengeance against BC Vengeance against GT Vengeance against WF And Vengeance against a conference that has stifled the Noles enough for the past 5 years. Vengeance against those who believe they should take the place of a storied and resilient program that put in the hours, that took the chances and took their shots. If the players @ FSU understand what it means to be a Seminole, what it means to dominate week in and week out--the work, the toughness, the stamina, the focus and the aggression--then this will be a great year of Vengeance. So lets enjoy the ferocity at which our players are playing for the moment and know if they keep it up they are going to be in for one hell of an ACC championship game. A game to right a wrong done early this year. 2009 -- Fear the Spear...of VENGEANCE
