Seems Like Old Times

Florida State's recruiting class is beginning to feel like, well, an old school FSU class. Loaded with eight ESPNU 150 commits, it is a class that features depth, speed and playmakers and that's why the Seminoles make a jump to No. 4 in the class rankings. (ESPN Love) Florida State has 8 ESPNU 150 commitments. The rest of the Atlantic Division (5 teams) has 4 combined. The Coastal Division (6 teams) has 8 combined.

Leon Washington with 2 kick returns for TDs vs Chargers

Welp. Looks like Leon recovered nicely. Dude is becoming a legend. Dude's legend grows.

Had no idea: Leonard Skinner, the Jax PE teacher who inspired the band's name, died at age 77 today. The real Skinner sent members of Lynyrd Skynyrd to the principal's office bc of their long hair. Leonard Skinner played hoops at what is now Jax U. and graduated from FSU. Diehard Seminoles football fan.

ESPN: Jimbo Fisher ushers in new era at FSU

ESPN is doing ACC week and its lead story is Jimbo Fisher and how he is changing the FSU program. Excellent read by Heather Dinich who has really improved her knowledge of and feel for the conference in her three years on the beat. Lots of good quotes as well. And Dinich also mentions FSU a few times in today's chat: Jeremy (Raleigh) I think Atlantic teams better pull a Win on FSU this year because the way they are recruiting it might be their last chance. Do you agree? Heather Dinich (1:11 PM) Good point, Jeremy. More than half the Noles' recruiting class is comprised of ESPNU 150 athletes. In a word: Loaded.

Jeff Cameron Show: Lawn Maintenance Tuesday on the show

Might be a good forum for discussing each day's show, but what the hell do I know. Just a thought... Day 2 of the official first week of football is here, and we begin Tuesdays show with a story about a local man's respite - a place with good food and beer specials - and just minutes away from a certain persons house. Its a good place to have, if you do. And we heard from coach Jimbo Fisher today at the annual 1270 Coaches Luncheon. Attitude, learning how to win again, and similar stories. Just gets us more pumped. Plus, Brett Favre gives us the gift that keeps on giving - Brett Favre *** Joe Pa is old. Sounds old. Gives old answers. Still, really old. And they're asking him about the upcoming season, Bowdens situation, and more in his Big 10 media day interview. We discuss the two programs, empathy for PSU fans, and the enthuisiam we have that they may not. Yet. *** We tackle the Brett Favre retirement issue. Will he, won't he, will he, won't he? For many reasons you should definitely believe that Brett will play football again. It may not be about the money, but it can certainly be about the pandering and respect that Favre dreams for. *** Ira Schoffel from the Tallahassee Democrat talks freshmen who will make an impact, the situation of the backfield and the confidence the coaches have in it, the Glen Stanley impact and whether he will play right away or not, the Unity Council and how they will affect the team this season, team morale, and much more from the football fields as practice gets underway this Thursday. Hear the segment on our On Demand page, available for free streaming, podcasting, or mp3 download. *** The return of college football season means the return of our favorite college football announcers, and their love affair for teams, players, and conferences. We revisit our fond feelings for Verne Lundquist, Gary Danielson, and everyone in between and what will happen in an announcing world without Tim God Tebow. The announcers are back for another season kids!

FSU camp highlighted by Coker, Hart

Nothing we don't know here, but it's nice to see Coker getting some face time on ESPN's recruiting page. We'll make ya famous, kid! Some highlights... "Everyone in Mobile loves coach Craig so when he calls, you answer," Coker said. "And he's a great guy. I'm pretty sure every Auburn fan considers him their favorite quarterback." "I've caught up with Lamarcus Brutus and Keelin Smith (Port St. Lucie, Fla./Treasure Coast)," Hart said. "And I talked to Aaron Lynch (Cape Coral, Fla./Island Coast). He was here, and I'm trying to get him to stay. I heard James Wilder II (Tampa Bay, Fla./Plant) and Giorgio Newberry (Fort Pierce, Fla./Fort Pierce Central) will be here [Friday] so I'm going to talk with them too." - Hart "FSU coach Jimbo Fisher has made it clear that his camp is a "work camp" and not a showcase." - Corey Long (espn) I like that we're doing this. Meanwhile, a lot of no-shows down at FNL hahaha. GOOD.

Five-star DE/LB Chris Martin transferring to UF

More bad news for FSU. Should be fun going up against that D line in a couple years. Florida Preseason Top 100 2011

I'm sure we'll see Freeman way up on there soon.
