Pride Of Detroit Calvin Johnson at #5 in ESPN's Top 10 Offensive Players List

Last week we saw Ndamukong Suh land just outside of ESPN's Top 10 Defensive Player List. Now the top 10 offensive players list is out and Calvin Johnson has cracked the top 10 (#5 to be exact).

Here is the top 10:

T-1. Chris Johnson (70) - 2 First Place Votes
T-1. Adrian Peterson (70) - 4 First Place Votes
3. Andre Johnson (64) - 2 First Place Votes
4. Larry Fitzgerald (50)
5. Calvin Johnson (36)
6. Roddy White (32)
7. Maurice Jones-Drew (20)
8. Jake Long (17)
9. Joe Thomas (16)
T-10. Jamaal Charles (13)
T-10. Antonio Gates (13)

The highest position CJ was rated was #4 by three votes and the lowest was #10 by one voter (must be a Bears fan).  He came ranked #3 out of the 6 Wide Receivers who got votes.  10 other players got votes below 13, which are: Reggie Wayne (7), Jason Witten (7), Michael Turner (6), Arian Foster (6), DeSean Jackson (6), Nick Mangold (3), Greg Jennings (2), Steven Jackson (1), and Dallas Clark (1). Three offensive linemen made the list and two (Long and Thomas) made the top ten.

Also interesting is that when the same voters made the list of the top 10 NFL Receivers, the top five were 1. Andre Johnson, 2. Larry Fitzgerald, 3. Roddy White, 4. Calvin Johnson, 5. Reggie Wayne. I guess adding running backs to the equation bumped CJ above Roddy White.

Do you guys agree with the order in with the ESPN "experts" ranked these players? If not, what changes would you make?

Pride Of Detroit ESPN Nation wants Lions on HBO's Hard Knocks?

On NFL Live today, the poll of the day was asking which team would you like to see on this season's version of Hard Knocks?  Out of the five teams in the poll, the Lions got 34.5% of the votes, beating out the Steelers (22.7%), Patriots, Falcons, and BroncosMarcellus Wiley even said he would like to see the Lions on Hard Knocks particularly to see Suh mentoring Farley.

This is how teams have done during the season after appearing on Hard Knocks since 2007: 2007-Kansas City (4-12), 2008-Dallas (9-7), 2009-Cincinnati (10-6), and 2010-New York Jets (11-5).

The question is, would you like to see the Lions on Hard Knocks? Also, if the Lions were offered by HBO to be on Hard Knocks, do you think the Lions would want to be filmed for the show (teams have in the past turned it down)? Some may think this would be a good thing and some may think otherwise but the key word here is "distraction."

Pride Of Detroit Janoris Jenkins staying at Florida

With all the mock draft everyone has been doing, one of the most popular players mentioned as a possibility to land with the Lions in the 1st round of the 2011 NFL draft has been Florida CB Janoris Jenkins.  Unfortunately, ESPN is reporting Jenkins will return to Florida for his senior year.  Because of late season shoulder surgery, the needed recovery time would have effected his combine and draft prep. With the secondary (especially CB) being a big need for the Lions this off-seasons its a bit of a disappointment.  Time to look at other players for a potential first-round pick. GO LIONS!!!!

Pride Of Detroit Another Reason ESPN Should Fire Millen

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rrBMMWFNUM&feature=player_embedded

Steve Young and Matt Millen got into it on the Pregame Show for Monday Night Football. This goes without saying that Matt Millen is an idiot and this only adds on to his praise of Rod Marinelli last thursday during the Miami/Chicago game.

Dear ESPN,

Do something smart (for once) and fire Matt Millen before its too late... (and John Gruden while u are printing pink slips)

Pride Of Detroit Suh on Pardon the Interruption

Did anyone see Suh on PTI for 5 good minutes? It will be on ESPN 2 again at the bottom of the next hour.  It was great to see him on PTI but Wilbon and Tony didn't even asked him about the Lions.  They talked about McNabb, Santana Moss trying to tackle him and his preseason throwdown of Jack Delhomme. WTF ESPN!!!!

Not one question about the lions? his performance thus far? the Defense? Schwartz? Stafford? Best? nothing...

That's kind of a waste of an appearance if you ask me

Pride Of Detroit Dewayne White Drafted 1st in 2010 UFL Draft

First it was Daunte Culpepper who made the jump to the UFL and now Dewayne White was draft by the Omaha Nighthawks with the 1st overall pick in the 2010 draft.   Interesting that he got no interest from any NFL teams.  Also, former Lions WR John Standeford was drafted by the Florida Tuskers of the UFL in the 3rd round. Draft is in the 4th round of 12.  Wonder if any other former Lions will get picked up????  GO LIONS!!!

Pride Of Detroit Brett Favre is a Viking

Brett Favre will sign with the Vikings Tuesday, August 18th, pending a physical, reported by ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

Chris Carter is going nuts on ESPN's First Take.  He is amazing by the lack of professionalism. No Suprise.  Apparently Favre had a house already set up in Minnesota yet the Vikings organization has been lying to Rosenfels and Jackson about Favre coming and being the starting QB.  To think that Brad Childress said it was a done deal, Favre wasnt coming back. This is all F***ed up....

A high level source told Minnesota's WCCO that Favre boarded a plane with a Viking logo at the Hattiesburg, Mississippi airport for Minnesota and that he was expected to sign with the team Tuesday.  That plane is believed to be the owners, Ziggy Wilf's plane.

WDAM first reported that Brett Favre boarded a plane today (Tuesday) at 9:10 a.m. at the Hattiesburg Laurel Regional Airport, bound for Minnesota. Sources said Favre boarded by himself and commented, "We may know something by dinner."

Pending physical, Brett Favre will sign a contract for between $10-$12M

Why am i mentioning this? Well obviously it affects the Vikings.  Can't wait to see Delmas and Buchanon pick off Favre all day!!
