Texas Offers JUCO OT

+

"After signing two transfers for its 2012 class and landing a commitment from another for this year’s class, Texas isn’t finished recruiting junior colleges. Contra Costa (Calif.) Community College coach Alonzo Carter confirmed that the Longhorns have offered a scholarship to offensive tackle Desmond Harrison. The 6-foot-8, 300-pound lineman scheduled an official visit to Texas for Dec. 7 for the Longhorns’ banquet weekend."

AUSTIN, Texas -- Before Texas can go about adding new names to the roster Wednesday, the Longhorns had to scrub one of the existing names off. Calvin Howell, a sophomore defensive tackle, has decided to transfer, a source within the program told HornsNation. Howell was projected to contend for a starting spot in 2012 along with Ashton Dorsey, Chris Whaley, Brandon Moore and Desmond Jackson.

Raulerson Says Merry Christmas! Courtesy of cdain3 over at ShaggyBevo. Great pic and hopefully we can kick off our 2013 class with this great talent if we are so fortunate. Hope we are putting on the full-court press, and I imagine we are, given that the rest of the nation is.

Johnathan Gray named Mr. Football 2011 (ESPNHS)

An incredible honor for Johnathan, as he was the first junior to ever win the award in 2010, and now obviously he is the only 2-time winner. From the ESPN article: ---------------------------------------------------- This year's recipient of the Mr. Football USA award, the title bestowed upon the nation's most outstanding on-field player each fall by ESPNHS, reminds us a lot of last year's winner, probably because it's the same player. Tailback Johnathan Gray of Aledo (Texas) was the first junior to ever win the award in 2010 and is once again ESPNHS's selection as Mr. Football USA. "I'm blessed with the family, coaches and teammates that have helped me get to where I am," said Gray. "I'd never be capable of doing this by myself, and I'd like to think that we won this together and that it's our honor together. It's a team game and in order to have success it requires a team effort."
