interesting prieview views....
Its interesting reading all the previews.....CBSSports, Bleacher Report, etc. etc.
One has something along the lines of Rod being a good candidate for a buyout next year with a major overhaul,
while Bleacher Report states...
"Rod Brind’Amor will be back for his 10th season with the Carolina Hurricanes and looking to re-establish himself as one of the best defensive forwards in the game after a career-low -23 last season.
Rod “The Bod” played in 80 games last year after coming back from a torn ACL late in the 2007/08 season so there should be no doubts about the longevity of a man with two-straight 51 point seasons and one of the strictest workout regimes in the NHL." http://bleacherreport.com/articles/238250-bts-200910-nhl-season-preview-carolina-hurricanes
i understand one is talking about a buyout at next seasons end, and one is talking about actual play next season....still interesting tones throughout the article.
Somewhere i read that we have no secondary scoring after Staal. Me I see secondary scoring as something of a by committee thing. We dont have 2 primary scorers, instead we have a few players capable of 50-70 pts. (whitney, cole, ruutu, maybe sammy or even brindy). People fail to fully acknowledge that all of our potential 3rd liners (sammy, larose, brindy, cullen, jokinen are capable of 15-20 goals each.
Just browsing around i find that canes predictions/expectations both of blogger/writers and fan commenters are all over the map! Its nice that everyoneon tv kinda stumbles on their words, or hesitates before answering the question of our next season. They're scared to count us out no matter how they feel.
Very interesting views indeed....
got this from puck daddy
First, in today's edition of Stop The Season Because The Playoff Seedings Are Pretty Awesome, the East would have the Boston Bruins against the Montreal Canadiens; the Washington Capitals against the New York Rangers (Sean Avery and Colton Orr against Alexanders Ovechkin and Semin? Hoo-boy); the Devils losing to the Carolina Hurricanes facing the Carolina Hurricanes; and the Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins beating the crap out of each other for what the rest of the free world hopes is seven games.
Gerber?
Got this from ESPN's Rumor Central and figured I'd share with the group!
Sources tell the Ottawa Sun the Hurricanes have a mild interest in reacquiring G Martin Gerber, who was placed on re-entry waivers Thursday by the Senators.
I guess I would like this deal. I'd have to view him as an upgrade over Leighton just based on his experience. Other than Leighton who have we got to back Cam up? Gerber seems to avg around a .905ish save and 2.75ish GAA over his career. His numbers dont look too good this year, but Ottawa sucks this year as a whole! I dont know if this would mean that Leighton would go down to Albany, or be released, traded? Opinions?, Ive yet to really form my own!!
Nice Story

I had to post this, its old news (3 days old) but I hadnt read it…….it says that Williams and Cullen went home with the kid to play video games. Thats huge in my eyes. Being allowed into practice, into the locker room, and to meet the players is nice and all, but its the extra mile these guys go that really makes the difference…….great story
