Dance off between Richard Sherman and Anthony Hargrove! Hargrove moves pretty well for such a big guy.

Field Gulls Playing Devil's advocate

All of the questionable moves Carroll and Schneider have made this week have plenty of people are reminiscing about the good old days when Ruskell was our GM. I'm gonna save judging this offseason activity until the draft, but so far I don't like where this team seems to be heading. But how much of this is really fault on our FO's part?

First, we have the Tapp trade. Considering he may have had the potential to be one of the cornerstones for our defense for years to come, I have no doubt that he was undersold for Clemons and a fourth rounder. But I've read that Clemons is considered more explosive than Tapp, and the move was probably made because because Carroll believes he can get more production out of Lo-Jack than any of our coaches have so far.

Also, I haven't heard anything to make me believe this, but is it possible Tapp just wanted out of Seattle? If Tapp wasn't going to be in Seattle much longer anyway, then another DE and a fourth rounder isn't bad value for him; more than any other team was going to offer apparently.

As far as the Whitehurst trade goes, maybe the team really likes what they see in him. The price was steeper than it should have been, at least it immediately upgrades our QB situation.

Then we have underwhelming free agent signings like Ganther and Chris Baker. We all know the market for free agents isn't very good this season, so I think it's a good sign that the team is being proactive at least.

These may not be the strongest arguments, but it isn't easy playing the Devil's advocate.

Thoughts?

Field Gulls How do you feel about Spiller?

I've feel like I've seen Spiller going to Seattle in about every mock draft I've seen. Pat Kirwan's latest mock has him going at 6 and most seem to have him at 14. Say Carroll does draft Spiller, how would that make you feel?

Personally, I feel like Berry/Top DT/Clauford at 6 makes with a LT at 14, followed by a RB in the second makes more sense if the FO really wants to find a RB in the draft.

Field Gulls Seriously, what's up with all the Favre hate going around?

Recently thr rumors of Favre making a second comeback to play for the Vikings has picked up credibility as Favre is scheduled to meet with Brad Childress.

This has brought on a lot of talk about how people are sick of, or have lost all respect for Favre.

Besides the fact that many seem to resent the guy for media coverage that's not his fault (he is partially responsible, but not as responsible as ESPN or the Packers who wouldn't grant his release in the first place), there seems to be at least one more huge misconception about Favre.

That misconception is that he is ruining his legacy by coming out of retirement.

Last season, Favre went from being the best player on the Packers to being the best player on the Jets. The Jets may have broken down at the end of the season, but it was the TEAM that broke down. Favre received most of the blame (gee, a quarterback receiving the blame for their team losing. Who's ever heard of that?), but Thomas Jones no longer looked like tha same back either. Not to mention the play of the defense. Everyone seems to forget that while Favre was healthy the Jets looked like the team to beat in the AFC.

So how can Favre be ruining his legacy by  first choosing to leave the team he loved and played his heart out for and then being the single biggest reason why the jets doubled their win total from the previous season?

Field Gulls Am I the only one who thinks the Seahawks are set at receiver?

Lately I've seen a bunch of posts detailing WRs the Seahawks could draft in the 3rd or 4th rounds or later. But with so many young WRs on the team already, doesn't it seem unlikely they'll draft a receiver in those rounds? Sure none of the guys who were out there last season looked impressive, but Payne and Obomanu never really got a chance to show what they could do. Plus, Kent or Bumpus could become contributors if they work on their route running. Unless they opt to select somebody like Crabtree or Maclin, or someone like Robiskie slips out of the 1st into their spot in the 2nd, I think the Seahawks taking a WR fairly early in the draft unlikely. After all, doesn't it seem like any of the guys on the team have just as good a shot at contributing as guys like Mike Thomas or Juaquin Iglesias?
