Reggie Bush v. Daniel Thomas (Week7 vs Broncos)

Yes, this will be an ongoing weekly breakdown of the performances of both running backs. There is so much misinformation and misconception from our supposed "analysts" on ESPN and NFL network that it angers me. Those guys are too busy to actually watch games, so they become stat rats and base judgments off numbers instead of performances. I am a Bush supporter, and I feel he gets undeserved blame, while people continue to disregard Thomas' ineptitude. Thomas is good, don't get me wrong, but he is a rookie, Bush is a Superbowl champion. Im not sure how the coaching staff and some fans trust Thomas more than Bush in crucial situations, such as the redzone
Bush: 10 rushes - 42yards
Thomas: 19 rushes - 53 yards
Bush Runs-- First Half/ Second Half
8, 1, 4, 5, 12, 0, 3, 4 / 3, 2
Thomas Runs: First Half/ Second Half
2, 5, 14, 0 / 4, 0, 6, -2, 0, 2, 2, 3, 2, 0, 3, 0, 0, 8, 4
So again Bush gets no carries in the redzone, and actually most of his carries were only in our half of the field. Ironically the only play we scored on, was a play action pass to Bush, and which he hit the flat and was chased by both linebackers and a safety, leaving Fasano open deeper. I have yet to understand why the hell Bush gets no touches or carries in the redzone. Keep using him as a decoy is ok, but at some point you have to give it to him, especially when you have the worst 3rd down offense and redzone efficiency in the league. Lets look at one of our possessions. We have 1st and 10 at the Denver 15, potentially 8 downs to get in the endzone. And this is what we come up with: Thomas dropped the second pass, and he forgot the play was coming to him on 3rd down as he was looking downfield when a screen pass hit him in the back. This is ridiculous. If you don't think Bush could have done better than this, well than you don't watch football.
| 1st and 10 at DEN 15 | M.Moore pass short left to D.Thomas to DEN 20 for -5 yards (R.McBean). | ||
| 2nd and 15 at DEN 20 | M.Moore pass incomplete short middle to D.Thomas. | ||
| 3rd and 15 at DEN 20 | M.Moore pass incomplete short middle to D.Thomas [V.Miller]. |
Until this coaching staff stops being predictable with their up the middle rushing, this team will go no where. Its a passing league now, you have to pass to setup the run, (See Patriots, Saints, Packers.) Thats how you win games these days. Not 2nd and 8 everytime. When we do gain 6 or 7 yards on first down, that makes 2nd down perfect for play-pass, but what do we do, rush it up the middle again, even when the defense has 8-9 in the box. This is chess, you don't let your opponent predict what you are doing, you have to outthink him, but our coaching staff is completely oblivious to any defenses. We are not good enough to be the type of team that imposes its will and just does whatever it wants despite the defense. We have to keep the defenses off balance, running when we should pass, passing when we should run, and so on. We are 0-5 for Gods sake, take some chances!!!
Sidenote rant: Suck for Luck campaign is pathetic, who throws away 10 NFL regular season games to take a chance on a Quarterback, understand business folks, these are professionals. There is no way in hell they will lose on purpose now for next year. All the people on here thinking that's whats going on, don't know football. Your telling me these veterans, grown ass men, millionaires, are gonna embarass themselves for 10 more weeks because some 20 year old in Palo Alto, get real folks. They are gonna play as hard as they can, they will try to do everything possible to win games, its our disgusting coaching and play calling that is ruining our team. Get rid of Sporano now!

Reggie Bush v Daniel Thomas last nite.
This is a statistical breakdown of the two running backs performance last nite. Bush had 9 carries for 71 yards in the first half, but he didn't touch that ball in the redzone, while Thomas got 5 carries within the Jets 20 yard line for 9 yards total. 5 carries for a rookie in the redzone on Nationally televised Monday night football. While the guy you signed in the off season, that you said was gonna be your feature back, that was supposed to add scoring to the team, that was your big sexy pick up of the year to change they dynamic of the offense, Reggie Bush has been given the ball a grand total of 5 times in 5 games in the redzone and he has scored on 1 of them! That is 5 times total all year, for a guy who, we have all seen the commercial, flew in from the 6 yard line.
He might not be an every down, up the middle back, but don't tell me he is not a redzone animal. He can beat folks to the outside and get that 1 or 2 yards easy. Its when he forces himself to run between the tackles where he doesn't get much yardage. He can't break tackles from bigger linebackers, but he can juke the pants off them and run around them. He always had a knack for getting in the endzone, while our Super Mario head coach thinks otherwise. He needs to go back to fixing plumbing problems instead of running a football team. How can you constantly be content with field goals. Can you imagine Bill Bellichik clapping up a storm when they get shut down within the 10 yard line for a second time in a row screaming "Good drive, good drive." Hell no, a field goal is pretty much a displaced punt. A failure to get in the endzone. A failure of your offense to get 10 yards. A failure to get 6 points. The worst part is, that a FG is just an attempt, its not even an automatic 3 points. There are times where its fourth and 1 and you figure lets just get the points rather than go for it, and you don't realize at that moment that you are risking 1 yard for risking a missed field goal. Sometimes it makes more sense to be aggressive in the redzone, the worst that would happen is opposing team has bad field position, which is something most defenses would love to have anyways. Thomas carries in the redzone go as follows 5,3,0,3,-2. This was all in the first half. Reggie had 9 carries for 71, while Thomas had 10 for 25 yrds. Now who should have been getting the ball in the redzone?? Second half Bush got one rush, where he ran hard, and got a stinger. He came back in a couple series later. No catches or rushes later, they lose the game. If Miami ever wants to win a game, perhaps it should stop settling for field goals and give the ball to Reggie in the dam red zone.
Daniel Thomas- Rushes: first half / second half
1,5,3,0,2,5,3,-2,3,5, / 1,15,2,5,1,
Reggie Bush Rushes:
36,5,11,3, 2,4,-2,9,3, / 0
other stupid plays:
1)Matt Moore taking a 7 yard loss instead of throwing the ball away, has he every played football before, my college coach would have towel choked me at half time for that crap.
2)Marshall-) running out of bounds for some reason, cant stay in bounds with no one around you
3) Moor missing a wide open receiver in the endzone, i mean wide freaking open. Also on 3rd down of opening drive. I mean no one within 30 yards wide open.
4)Coach Sporano's praise of Field goals makes me wanna slap myself.
5)Hartline drop on 3rd down, and his unneccessary fall to the ground on the deep play where he fell out of bounds.
I am really starting to hate my life, i just slapped my 5 yr old for no freakin reason. SMH.
sidenote look up "IF NFL TEAMS WERE CHICKS"... read the MIAMI chick wow, exactly.
5 things that went wrong
1. Why was Reggie Bush on the sidelines watching as our rookie got 100 yards. Was this to prove he wasn't a bust, because most of these yards came when we were down and Texas playing to not give up any quick scores. We gave Reggie 2 rushes before we pulled him. And why doesn't he ever get the ball in the red zone. He is know for attacking the end zone
2. CHad Henne needs to stop getting balls batted down. Throw the lanes, step out the pocket, pump fake.
3. More to Marshall, yes he dropped a touchdown, but he is an animal. Jump balls should go to him not to Hartline on 4th down like we did last week.
4. Safety Help please. Texas high powered offense was getting stuffed except for some long throws, thats what burned us in NE too. Safety needs to play the ball and stop getting beat deep.
5. Open up the offense, try throwing on first down, try a screen, try a short pass something rather than a between the tackle run.

GO SAINTS, I love this team, except I died a little inside when....
There were several moments in the game that had me screaming at the top of my lungs. Share with me what events made you throw the crust of the pizza slice you just finished at an annoying devils advocate Colts fan in your vicinity.
1. 4 plays within the 5 yard line and Bush standing on the sideline.
2. The first 3 and out after winning the toss.... MAJOR BONERKILL!!
3. Austin Collie's 40 yard pass on the second
4. Clark catching it around 5 Saints DB's
5. Usama Young's existence on earth.
Happy but not satisfied.
Ok, our defense played great, but man where was our offense? I mean 5 minutes left and tie game 4th quarter the most explosive offense in the league, Brees pumping up everyone on the sideline, ready to take this team to the Super B...... and we get.... uh,.... uh... um..... 3 and out. Wow. i almost wanted to kill myself, i could see it now, Favre takes his team down to the win the game instead. My dreams almost crushed...... 3rd and 7, Porter misses a tackle to give us the ball back with 1:40 left. Everything was beginning to crumble. Then we get a flag take them out of FG and a Pick. OMG. Then i knew we were destined.
However, i was very upset at how bad our offense played, and how we couldnt make plays when it counted. 6 Fumbles, and 2 pics, and some Referee help to barely win a game was not satisfactory for me. I was fairly upset. Thomas was the only player the played great tonight. Brees, Colsten, Henderson, Bush were barely present, and it was that Minnesota Defense that deserves some credit but our offensive play calling takes the blame. Payton forcing the run in overtime when we need yards.
Saints escape with a win, run with my heart, and leave me breathless, but what a game. I love my SAINTS!!!
Some very key plays, which do you think was most important?
1. AP fumble before the half
2. Porter INT at end of Game
3. Dave Thomas PI call
4. 12 men on the field penalty
5. 3rd Down and 7 Berrian First down
REGGIE
How are the playoffs this year similar to 70's porn.
No, not Ron Jeremy Shockey, but BUSH EVERYWHERE!!!
What a game for him, i mean going over guys, thru guys and around guys.
He better get signed next year or I am giving up on life and not paying my child support regardless of the consequences. Only if they create a cure for baldness today, it might be the greatest day of my life.
Please share your love for him below, asap! COLDPIZZA you can join in as well!!!
HOW MANY 3rd and 1's
Why do we have so many dam 3rd and 1's. Can they get that CBS/FOX yellow line to go across the field somehow so our players know where they need to get. It absolutely drives me crazy when i see a player fall a foot short on 2nd down because then we have M.Bell and PierreThomas who always fall short. For gods sake how can a runner fall at the one millimeter line of the touchdown, like Mike Bell did in overtime, and what is that "lowering the roof" thing he does, kinda gets old. Even Bush couldnt get that 3rd and, but to his credit he did try to extend the ball and got a bad spot from the ref. MB and PT really need to be more agressive at getting that extra yard at the end of every play. Why didnt SP put in Bush when we were at the 3 yard line, he can fly from the 6yrd line, he is the most athletic player we have and can smell the endzone, we should give to him anytime we are within the 10 yard line, he will find a way in every time, thats his speciality. Brees' arm strength also concern me sometimes, Brees under threw Bush on the first series or else touchdown, and he consistenly under throws D.Henderson. another time RB was open in the middle of the field but the pass got knocked down at the line. I feel bad for Reg, i almost want him to go to another team and be the main guy,and tear it up just to watch his critics eat their words, but then I realize we might be a team he faces, and it hurts my insides. Yes I like the guy, maybe i do have bias for him, I'm not afraid to show my appreciation and admiration of a great athlete. There are far too many people suppressing and bottling up their love because they don't have stats to back up their inherent like for the guy. Who cares, if you know football and play football you can recognize someone who plays like a beast, and for that I am a huge fan. Also people like coldpizza keep attacking your love for him, which gets annoying and unwarranted. They keep throwing stats in your face, when they have probably never lined up against 11 guys who want to kill you. Its like you describing to me how comfy the couch is standing outside the window. Its not about stats, its about what you feel when you see him with the ball and making great plays. This is football, a sport, how serious can you take it, supposed to entertain, and thats exactly what he does for us.. Stand up, Reggie fans, don't be ashamed and don't let bonerkills like coldpizza turn you away... Yes im having a weird moment right now, ho homo.
come one cold pizza, im expecting another one of your patented one liners, reeking of pessimism and depression disguised as intelligence and wit.
Randy Moss
Anyone else see him cuss out a sideline worker saying "I can stand wherever the F*** i want" Nice class act Randy, and that castaway/homeless look is starting to get real disgusting. BTW: Can someone check Sedrick Ellis' head for thinking he could juke 18 guys in about 3 feet of space, I literally stood up and shouted "get down you dumb fu** before he fumbled" I said the same thing when Mckenzie got that pic, except he listened.
Feel the Brees but not........
Brunell!! Is it me or do i think we need to invest in a legit back up for Brees. Brunell is 139 yrs old and has horrible knees. He cant move in a pocket like Bill Gates' wallet. I really don't trust him, If Brees was to go down (Hope to God he doesn't) we would pretty much be screwed. Especially when our offense relies on Brees and his ability to find receivers. Like todays game would have been a good opportunity to get a legit back up some nice reps, even throwing the ball. Come playoffs, i don't want my entire team and city leaning on one man so much, because you never know in this league. Its a a business, and Brunell doesn't make any business sense to be on this squad. Is he acting as a mentor, to a proven veteran Brees... NO!. So we should try to get Chase Daniel, the rook from Mizzu in some games. Get him off the practice squad and get him some PT. His holding duties can be done by either punter also. Lets ship Brunell out of here, every time I see him on the sidelines, nightmares of him actually playing in a meaningful game scare me...
Side Note: Bush was out this week to rest that knee for the big game next monday against the Pats, and thats why he was out the 2nd half against the Lams, to clear up those conspiracy rumors.
