I hate the Red Wings with a burning passion, but this is bullshit. You do NOT turnbuckle smash a player's head into the boards.

St. Louis Game Time Brian Elliot lone Blues All-Star

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=611147

First of all, congrats to Moose Juice for making the all-star game this year. He's amazing an amazing season, and an all-star bid for a player who was expected to be a backup in great. I'm surprised though that he was the lone Blue to make the game. I thought Petro or Backes would have a chance to be in the game as well. Still, it's good to see Elliot get recognized for his play this season.

Baltimore Beat Down A Poem for Saturday

I take no credit for this:

The outlook suddenly dimmed for the Pittsburgh eleven that day; The relentless Ravens lead by one point, with just two minutes left to play, When Mendenhall took a dive on first down, and on second Big Ben threw it away, A sickly silence fell upon the yellow towel wavers on that day.

No one budged an inch from their seat. They each clung to hope which springs eternal in the human breast; They thought, if only Big Ben could get on track -We'd put up even money, right now, with Roethlisberger at Quarterback!

But Koch had pinned the Steelers in very deep in doo-doo, and it was third and long but Big Ben was not through. He found his TE Miller and then hit the new kid Wallace, The former was a tank and the latter fast and polished; So soon that stricken multitude from their grim melancholy sprung, For it seemed for the moment that Big Ben had the Ravens on the run.

But then Ray Lewis unleashed a shot to the wonderment of all, that separated much despised Hines Ward, from helmet and the ball; And when the dust had lifted, and the men saw what had occurred, There was big old Kemoeatu laying on the ball.

Then from 50,000 throats and more there rose a lusty yell; It rumbled through the valley, it rattled in the dell; It knocked upon the mountain and recoiled down their spine, For Big Ben, yes Big Ben, was advancing toward the goal line.

There was ease in Big Ben's manner as he stepped into his place; There was pride in Big Ben's bearing and a smile on his homely face. And when, responding to the cheers, he lightly scratched his crack, No stranger in the crowd could doubt 'twas Big Ben at Quarterback!

Ten thousand eyes were on him as he got knocked into the dirt; Five thousand tongues applauded when he wiped blood on his shirt. Then while Mendenhall lay catching his breath upon the frozen ground, Defiance gleamed in Big Ben's eye,  on Big Ben's face was a frown.

And now the leather-covered oval came hurtling through the air, And Ward ran a-watching it in haughty grandeur there. Close by sturdy Chris Carr tipped the ball over head-"That's interference," said Roethlisberger."Incomplete" the official said.

From the benches, black with people, there went up a muffled roar, Like the beating of the storm-waves on a stern and distant shore."Kill him! Kill the referee!" shouted someone on the stand; And it's likely they'd a-killed him had not Mike Tomlin raised his hand.

With a smile of home town charity- Coach Tomlin's visage shone; He stilled the rising tumult; he bade the game go on; He signaled to the officials, and once more the "pigskin" flew; But Hines Ward got tackled by Webb and Landry, inside the Raven's two.

"Fraud!" cried the maddened thousands, and echo answered fraud; But one scornful look from Lewis and Ngata and the audience was awed. They saw Ray's face grow stern and cold, they saw Suggs muscles strain, And they knew that the Raven's D wouldn't let that ball go in.

The sneer is gone from Big Ben's lip, the hair raised on his spine; He calls with cruel voice his cadence at the scrimmage line. And now he takes the snap, and now he lets it go, And now the air is shattered by the speed of Ed Reed's flow.

Oh, somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright; The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light, And somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere there is a wedding reception; But there is no joy in Pittsburgh — Big Ben just chucked an interception.

Pension Plan Puppets Question about getting Leafs tickets

First of all, hello Leafs fans. I'm a regular on St. Louis Game Time, and I heard you all would answer a question for me about Leafs tickets, so here goes:

Megabus just announced $1 fares from Baltimore to Toronto starting later this month. With that being said, I know the Blues play in Toronto on 1/6. The wife has said that she might be OK with me going to Toronto to see the game (I know, holy shit!). My question is this, anyone know how tough tickets are to get for Leafs games? I wouldn’t want to waste the trip and not go to the game after all (Though I WOULD like to get to the Hockey HOF as well)

Thanks!

St. Louis Game Time Fuck Tampa Bay

Yup, they are getting the the Fuck Detroit treatment now with their latest signing:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=5217529

Ugh so how many more damn times will we subjected to that wretched commercial? While he might be a good hockey mind and all that....it's STILL Yzerman. Wonder who he's going to get to be his cabana boy assistant down there?

First the Blackhawks in the Finals and now this?

St. Louis Game Time Thank you San Jose

Fuck Detroit.

Fuck Detroit with a rusty crowbar.

Fuck Detroit with a rusty crowbar tipped with glow in the dark syphilis

Enjoy watching the Stanley Cup Finals from home you cocksuckers, and enjoy that abandoned ship shithole of a city you call home.

To the Sharks, about time, now make the finals and lose the choker labels once and for all.

But above all that: Fuck Detroit. Fuck Detroit. And if you didn't hear: Fuck Detroit.

St. Louis Game Time So...now what?

We all know now that the Blues are out of the playoffs due to a variety of factor, but that's not the reason for this post. My reason...now what do we do? How well will you follow the playoffs this year? Is there a team you'll root for in the playoffs, or against (Hello Fuck Chicago and Fuck Detroit), or with the Blues out do you just not care?

I might catch some hell for this, but I'll root for the Caps in the playoffs. I'm in Baltimore, and the Caps are the closest team to me, plus they were my #2 team growing up, behind the Blues, so I've had a soft spot for the team since the days of Rod Langway, Peter Bondra,  Dale Hunter and the like.

So with the Blues now watching the playoffs from home like me, uh go Caps?

But above all else, Fuck Chicago and Detroit, I want to see you two bounced in the 1st round.

St. Louis Game Time Blues in top 10 of all franchises - ESPN

Well this was good to read. ESPN did their yearly rankings of all teams in the 4 major sports, and our Blues were ranked 10th overall. ESPN Ultimate Rankings The Blues were ranked individually in the top 10 in Fan Relations (#10), Ownership (#7) and Affordability (#6). Teh Blues were ranked 4th of all NHL teams behind Fuck Detroit, Washington and Pittsburgh. This only goes to show what we've known, the Blues are a top-class organization with a bright future ahead of them. Lets go Blues!

St. Louis Game Time Back from vacation

Well, not so much a Blues related post, but since this is our "summer vacation" I figured I'd post some photos of my recent trip to Disney World. Going to be a long summer, can't wait for hockey again! Hope everyone's been enjoying themselves so far, I just haven't been able to bring myself to watch the playoffs anymore, just too painful to see the Wings and Penguins in the finals...again.

St. Louis Game Time Now the fun begins!

After 5 years, it's some for some playoff hockey Blues fan! I'm writing this in from my office, wearing my Blues cap and mid-90's Brett Hull jersey (and have had 2 people ask me who's he, and who's the team), and I'm excited for 10 PM tonight. It'll be interesting to see how the kids come out tonight, the knock against them is that they don't have "playoff experience", well if that's the case what do you call the last 3 months where almost every day was win or go home? The keys to this series are shutting down the Swedish Wonder Twins, and make Roberto Luongo once again play like LOLuongo.

Of course you are thinking "well DUH UIWWildthing, that's obvious". I'm not a hockey analyst, and don't pretend to be. I'm a hockey fan and just call it as I see it. Tonight's game could be the first of 16 wins to the Stanley Cup, or just a delay to the Blues going golfing. Either way, welcome back to the playoffs Blues fan, let's enjoy this ride while it last. One last thing, having the Blues playing around my birthday (June 14th), would be a nice birthday present.

LET'S GO BLUES!

St. Louis Game Time UIWWildthing's Inspirational Speech

You know I see how popular these are, and I'm writing one. I'm not taking this from a movie though, this is coming straight from the heart here.

Tomorrow night is the biggest game in 5 years for this team. Forget what happened tonight (FUCK DETROIT!), we control our fate, not Nashville, not Anaheim, WE DO. This is the last game at home for us, the playoffs are RIGHT THERE in our grasp. We knew we would need 3 points, and we can get it...but it starts with tomorrow. Minnesota is playing for their playoff lives too remember, and if the Wild pull one out, our job just got that much easier.

Tomorrow night, I won't be at the DrinkScotch Center, wont even be close, but damnit for everyone who is going tomorrow night, I want to hear your cheering in Baltimore. Get loud, get crazy, this is OUR chance, OUR night, OUR FUCKING SPOT! Remember everything said about this team, too injured, too young, a .7% chance to make the playoffs, the worst team in the NHL...not any more. This will be our moment, it will be our finest hour.

We've been at the lowest low....now it's our time to rise. Be proud Blues Nation, this is it.

The bell's sounding for Round 81, answer it and deliver the fucking KO.
