Well this was good to read. ESPN did their yearly rankings of all teams in the 4 major sports, and our Blues were ranked 10th overall. ESPN Ultimate Rankings The Blues were ranked individually in the top 10 in Fan Relations (#10), Ownership (#7) and Affordability (#6). Teh Blues were ranked 4th of all NHL teams behind Fuck Detroit, Washington and Pittsburgh. This only goes to show what we've known, the Blues are a top-class organization with a bright future ahead of them. Lets go Blues!

Well, not so much a Blues related post, but since this is our "summer vacation" I figured I'd post some photos of my recent trip to Disney World. Going to be a long summer, can't wait for hockey again! Hope everyone's been enjoying themselves so far, I just haven't been able to bring myself to watch the playoffs anymore, just too painful to see the Wings and Penguins in the finals...again.

After 5 years, it's some for some playoff hockey Blues fan! I'm writing this in from my office, wearing my Blues cap and mid-90's Brett Hull jersey (and have had 2 people ask me who's he, and who's the team), and I'm excited for 10 PM tonight. It'll be interesting to see how the kids come out tonight, the knock against them is that they don't have "playoff experience", well if that's the case what do you call the last 3 months where almost every day was win or go home? The keys to this series are shutting down the Swedish Wonder Twins, and make Roberto Luongo once again play like LOLuongo.

Of course you are thinking "well DUH UIWWildthing, that's obvious". I'm not a hockey analyst, and don't pretend to be. I'm a hockey fan and just call it as I see it. Tonight's game could be the first of 16 wins to the Stanley Cup, or just a delay to the Blues going golfing. Either way, welcome back to the playoffs Blues fan, let's enjoy this ride while it last. One last thing, having the Blues playing around my birthday (June 14th), would be a nice birthday present.

LET'S GO BLUES!

You know I see how popular these are, and I'm writing one. I'm not taking this from a movie though, this is coming straight from the heart here.

Tomorrow night is the biggest game in 5 years for this team. Forget what happened tonight (FUCK DETROIT!), we control our fate, not Nashville, not Anaheim, WE DO. This is the last game at home for us, the playoffs are RIGHT THERE in our grasp. We knew we would need 3 points, and we can get it...but it starts with tomorrow. Minnesota is playing for their playoff lives too remember, and if the Wild pull one out, our job just got that much easier.

Tomorrow night, I won't be at the DrinkScotch Center, wont even be close, but damnit for everyone who is going tomorrow night, I want to hear your cheering in Baltimore. Get loud, get crazy, this is OUR chance, OUR night, OUR FUCKING SPOT! Remember everything said about this team, too injured, too young, a .7% chance to make the playoffs, the worst team in the NHL...not any more. This will be our moment, it will be our finest hour.

We've been at the lowest low....now it's our time to rise. Be proud Blues Nation, this is it.

The bell's sounding for Round 81, answer it and deliver the fucking KO.

Why I'm a Blues Fan?

Hello & greetings everyone. First of all, I'm glad to be a part of the site here, I'm surprised I didn't find out about this place sooner, but I am glad I did. I thougt I'd share my thoughts as to why I'm a Blues fan, especially considering I'm from Baltimore, a town that has gone through 3 minor-league hockey teams in my lifetime, and has no other connection to the Blues.

When I was a kid I used to go to Baltimore Skipjacks games frequently (still know the fight song word for word), and at one game against the Moncton Golden Flames I got a puck from a player on the Flames in 1986 (I was 10 at the time)...that player happened to be Brett Hull, and I instantly became a fan of his. After Hull was traded to the Blues, I naturally became a fan of the team as well, but a funny thing happened, I started rooting for the Blues more and more, and after Hull left, I was a fan of his....but my loyalties remained with the Blues. I remember how pumped I was when i heard the Blues got Gretzky and the year that he and Hull were going to lead the team in the playoffs...and they would have, damn you Steve Yzerman...

I've been a fan through the highs, the President's Trophy win, the run of playoff appearances every year that almost seemed like a rite of spring, Hull winning the Hart Trophy, seeing MacInnis and Pronger playing on a monster blue line....and the lows, the 1st round flame out the year the Blues won the President's Trophy, the aforementioned Yzerman slapshot, and more recently the slide down to the worst team in hockey.

Through all of those years, I've never been as excited though as I have been for this year's team. To see a young, hungry team playing every night like the next loss could end their season, to see the whole roster playing for each other, not just for individual stats, the sheer determination of this team and what could be building for the next few years with the Kid Line and Mason in goal, it's a hell of a time to be a Blues fan.

As I write this, I'm in my office, proudly wearing my Blues cap & t-shirt (even with a few Wings fan in the office, and believe me I hear it from them), and already looking forward to tomorrow's game with the damn Blackhawks. I've been to every game the Blues have had in DC over the past 8 years, and in 2004 was able to scratch off one of my sports "bucket list" items in attending a game in St. Louis (Blues won 4-2 over Phoenix for the record). I've been asked what would I want to see more as a sports fan, and my answer is always the same....I've been able to see the Orioles win a World Series, the Ravens won a Super Bowl, the Blast win many championships...but the one thing I want to see more than anything else is the Blues hoisting the Stanley Cup. At that point, as a sports fan at least, everything is gravy, THAT would be my sports dream come true.

Anyway, sorry for the long rambling post, but I wanted to say hello and LET'S GO BLUES!
