Young guys playing time

Kind of pulled these thoughts together from talking with friends last night and some comments here by FreedomDip and others...

I was pleased beyond belief to see the young guys we have all been clamoring for since the beginning of the season. So my questions are...

Do you think that Mack and the staff rely too much on our upperclassman just b/c they have the experience (looking at you Killebrew) even though the younger gents may have the talent edge and give us the best chance to win?

If so, do you also think Pete Carrol and Urban Myer are "winning" the recruiting battles by telling the recruits that they will play and that they have the opportunity to compete for playing time as soon as you step on campus if you can win the job? i.e. Do you think our attitude towards the upperclassman hurts our recruiting or transfers?

This isn't a knock on Mack but getting some of the young guys playing time really made my night...well that and Mr. Jack Daniels. If he changes is attitude towards the loyalty factor and told the players from day one that every job is open, that would help our recruiting even more by sending the message to recruits that at Texas, you have the chance to play regardless of status. Show us on the field and you'll play.

How else is Pete Carroll getting the latest 5 star RB to sign when he already has 23 of them on the roster? By telling them that if you're that good, you'll play. And what 5 star blue chipper doesn't have the ego that thinks they will be starting?

In summary, performance rather than class status and vote for Kodos.

well at least their fans appear to be. If you hit their official athletic website you'll see bunches of anti-Texas gear. All in good fun but it shows how "up" some of their fanbase and players might be. We cannot overlook that game.

Academic Reps of BCS schools

Academic rankings of BCS schools by Conference

Boys,

I'm drinking my Bourbon well, pre-drinking for the Derby tomorrow. Anyways, I'm thinking about the Academic reps and standards of BCS schools. I know I could probably be all PHF or Billyzane and look it up on US News and World report, but I'm curious as to your opinions. I know some of you have attended other universities or lived in other regions (only Tejas for me) so what do you think of ranking the major BCS confs. by academic standards?

It's just an opinion and I'm really trying to see what the majority of people would say is a better overall school. So most people would say Vandy is a more prestigese college than say Miss state I'm assuming. Please post your ranking below.

Is Wes Welker in the NFL? I just wanted an update on the man who has haunted my nightmares for the past few years. I still get cold and break out into sweats every time I think of Welker catching a 6 yard pass and running amok through the Texas secondary while laughing and taking time to feel up our cheerleaders on his way to the endzone.

Damn you Welker for my Post Tramatic Stress Disorder. I'm like a Vietnam vet after a few months in the dense jungle. Where are my pills???

Good luck against the Buffs, not that you'll need it. And nice win over the ags. The look on the aggie fans after the last second win was priceless.
