BCS Bill in House Committee

That's right, the "College Football Playoff Act of 2009" would basically prohibit calling anything other than a playoff a "championship" in Division 1 football. The bill is currently in committee mark-up, with supporters believing it will eventually pass through The House with sympathetic senators (from Utah) then taking up the cause. Shall we vote amongst ourselves?

P.S. Latest word from the ticket office is 20,000 MNC tickets available which evidently puts Foundation donors of between $1,000-$2,000 snagging them up.

Aggie Heckle

There I was at approximately 6:30 pm on the front row of the endzone between the Texas sections at Kyle Field. I had just woken up from a 2+ hour nap on the drive out. My eyes lit up as I realized Aggy (corps and players) would be entering the field through the tunnel adjacent to our seats. I dashed over to the tunnel to observe the opposition entering through the tunnel. Knowing I was in a great position to get in some words with Aggy, and also knowing I would have to endure an earful of the "harshest" putdowns including t.u., t-sips, or whatever else the elementary school children in College Station had come up with for the game, I decided to make my move. To my delight, a one Mister Ryan Tannehill crossed my field of vision, who many at BON may remember lost his QB job to Johnson. My mind made up, and without trepidation the barrage began thusly:

"Hey Tannehill," I shouted and paused for a reaction. As he looked upwards right at me, I added "How does it feel to play wide receiver?" He continued to stare at me for a few seconds after which I flash him the hook 'em sign (I was dressed in a discreet white shirt with a longhorn eblem on the front). As he looked away, I noticed a trainer standing next to him mouthing the words "not cool."

After this a joyous time was had by all in our party as we watched the game. We danced, high fived, cheered for the Horns, and cheered for Erin Andrews each time she crossed the field in front of us. I even wore a fanciful belt to try and draw some comments on my manner of dress from painted overall wearing faux-farmers for the easy retort. For the most part except for some angry jostling caused by smack talking Longhorn fans at the conclusion of the match, the stadium was a hospitable venue.

Anybody else get some words in? Is it ok to heckle opposing fans/coaches/players? What have been some of the best encounters you've had in the past? Here's to hoping we're 100% this weekend. Hook 'em.

I'm sorry to post this nonsense, but we need to spread awareness of the idiocy that is Sooner Nation. Note the lack of ability to reference the UT-OU score because it is a losing proposition for these fans. Also note the often used and trite "MB's a crybaby" theme even though in reality historical footage shows Bob Stoops to be the coach on the verge of tears come January every year.

OU UT Rematch

A rematch has been batted around here and other places previously. According to BCS Guru http://www.bcsguru.com/, the outcome of Florida and Oklahoma winning today coupled with Cincinnati over Hawaii later this evening would lead to a 60% chance of OU-Florida in the title and 40% chance of OU-UT. I don't know about everybody else, but I like these odds. Ostensibly, the reason for this outcome is Florida played Hawaii, and won, for their first game of the year whereas OU played Cinci. Any thoughts on this scenario and how a USC win or loss today will impact this? I am worried if the final decision comes down to human voters and is between UT or Florida.

Is it just me, or does it seem like the recent surge in pirate attacks around the world is correlated with TTU's success? In all honesty, TTU's doing unbelievably well as pointed out by dimecoverage "Four-hundred ninety-nine pass attempts. Six interceptions thrown. Five sacks allowed. Tech’s penchant for avoiding negative plays has been remarkable." (Don't know how to link). For me, and any true Texan, I believe, the next best scenario to UT in the MNC is TTU in the MNC and UT in a serious bowl game. Call me crazy, but any Texas team on a national stage is a good consolation prize even though UT is certainly not out of it.

Speaking of those unbelievable Tech numbers along with numerous other stats (ie. high powered Big 12 offenses, etc.), is college football parity dead after its brief stint? Of course some will point to Utah, BYU, and even Ball State as evidence it is not, but who truly believes that any of these teams would win 6 out of 10 against the upper 2/3 of the Big 12 or SEC? It's interesting to watch the year over year shifts in quality of various conferences. I propose a state law to bar foreign state recruiting of Texas high school players by outside states. Would it be struck down in a court challenge? Almost definitely, but it would probably buy us a season.
