Daily Norseman Best Places to Live in Minnesota Pt. 2 - America has spoken.

This morning, I ran across something very interesting. My mom's main concern about living in Minnesota is the cold. So she told me to be open-minded and look elsewhere so we can all come to a conclusion on where to move. So, I took the initiative to Google the best cities in AMERICA to live. And long behold, out of a list of 100 cities, the great state of Minnesota holds 5 of the best cities to live in the top 20, and 4 in the top 15 alone! ( I stopped looking at the list after seeing the top 20 so there may be more in the whole 100 list). I showed my mother and hopefully Its sinking in her that Minnesota offers more than just the cold.

Ranks on Top 100 list of best Places to live in America. (Only top 20)

1. Eden Prairie (Best City in America Apparently)

11. Plymouth

13. Woodbury

15. Eagn

20. Apple Valley - Looks like I have more research to do.

Which City would you suggest I move?

Daily Norseman Best MN Places to live.

Okay I'm not from Minnesota or have any relatives there. I just love the Vikings. Anywho, I want to give a description of my ideal place to live in Minnesota (Because I'm considering persuading my mother to move up that way), and I want someone who's from or live in Minnesota to point out the best place I should look into staying.

Not a city with heavy traffic. (Moms hate traffic)

A college within the town or city.

Friendly People

Job Opportunities (From Restaurants to Whatever)

3-room apartments (Gotta start off somewhere right?)

Casino's or arcades (In, or near the town/city)

Low-Crime Rate (Because No-Crime rate is impossible right?)

Nice Scenery

Things to do for teens (Little Bro may come)

Nice schools

Places to fish

Hiking/Biking trails.

Community events

Parks

Unboring

Christian Church(s)

Plenty of opportunity.

Daily Norseman Vikings Get Bounty of Picks!!

Breaking News my friends!. According to this article the Minnesota Vikings have got what many have been wishing for. The Miami Dolphins have traded up to the 3rd spot in the 2012 NFL Draft and the Vikings receives the following picks.

Miami's #1, #2, #4 and (#2 2013)

Apparently, Tahelil(spell check) impressed them so much, that they feel he is the 3rd best QB in the draft, and they can't afford to pass out on him, or lose him after seeing Flynn and Manning signing elsewhere.

Daily Norseman The Perfect Solution.

Bare with me with this. It's very unlikely, but a very great thought if it were to happen. The debate of who should the Vikings select at #3 is heating up between Matt Kalil and Morris Claiborne. My question to the draft guru's is, is there a possible solution in us drafting Matt Kalil, and potentially moving back up to grab Claiborne as well? More than likely we will have to give up a future first, but if Morris is being considered to go third in this draft, I'm ok with giving a future first round pick for him. I firmly believe that our secondary is in far worst shape then our O-Line, but Kalil really is the consensus pick here. However, I really would like a Champ Bailey potential corner in our secondary to help out with actually catching picks and tackling proper. Anywho, what do you think? Are you for or against it?

Discuss.

Daily Norseman Is it really Kalil or bust?

This quiet free agency period on the Minnesota Vikings behalf, well is really painful to swallow. Of course all of us had wild dreams of the Vikings landing a top FA, but in reality, that wasn't likely to begin with. Money talks obviously, but I firmly trust the front office for now in their approach. With that being said, am I alone not being in full throttle "Kail or bust"? I mean, with so many holes, the Vikings should draft Best Player Available. What if the Vikings feel that Kalil isn't the BPA? Would it be so painful to accept that maybe, just maybe a Clabiorne, Blackmon (which I'm weary of at this spot), or hell even Richardson could benefit this team more than a Kalil?

Daily Norseman A Change of Heart.

I ask you, What is the the "purpose" of playing the greatest game in America? Answer: To win. What stakes would you take to get that "win"? Lately, maybe influenced by the recent Kalil articles blowing up the combine and Rick Speilman's take on the importance of "Playmakers" over a "Franchise-Caliber LT", I have stopped to think, is this Robert Griffin guy really worth it to draft? Keep in mind, we do ultimately want our team to "win". The NFL is a business, so anyone who can't accept that, really shouldn't be in the business to start with. With Kalil maybe going up on draft boards, there's a chance the Rams might see this guy as a cornerstone for the next decade, and take him. If this plays out that way, RG3 shall fall to us. What should we do?

Would you be willing to draft Robert Griffin if Matt Kalil is gone?

The Chicago Bulls could pair the premier center in the league with the 2010 MVP, Derrick Rose, but would they make such a blockbuster move after dominating the NBA last regular season? If Chicago can pull off the heist of Howard and keep Noah to pair with Rose, they would certainly be the favorites to win the Championship next season and beyond.

Daily Norseman VCB: Skip Bayless Gets Owned By Chris Kluwe. Unknown If He Will French Kiss A Flamethrower.

WRITTEN BY: HOLYSCHNIKES

Apparently, Skip Bayless doesn’t like kicking. In fact, he dislikes kicking so much that he thinks it should be banned. Well as you may know our punter Chris Kluwe is incredibley vocal and opinionated. He is also not happy that Skip Bayless thinks that kicking should be banned. Now usually I don’t follow Twitter wars, but this one was so awesome that I felt it needed to be posted on this blog. Here is Bayless’s tweet

Honestly, I felt sorry for Suggs/Ray/EReed. Fought guts out, lost b/c a nonplayer missed easy kick. WHY I HATE FG KICKING. Ban it! about 17 hours ago via webReplyRetweetFavorite @RealSkipBayless Skip Bayless

Now that’s a bit extreme don’t you think? Calling them non-athletes when they clearly possess an athletic ability that few others have. I mean without FG kicking the 49ers-Giants game would still be going on most likely. It’s not like it was an easy kick either as Bayless claims. The play clock was winding down, the snap was bad, the hold wasn’t good, and the conditions weren’t exactly ideal. Now does that mean he souldn’t have made it? No. I mean he is a pro kicker and he does this for a living, but it’s not like he missed an extra point or something like that. Well apparently Chris thougt the same way. The following three tweets are all by Kluwe....

@ Hey fuckwit. Let's not forget you haven't done a single athletic thing in your life. Go french kiss a flamethrower. about 17 hours ago via webReplyRetweetFavorite @ChrisWarcraft Chris Kluwe

@ I know what we should ban! Uninformed opinions from shit-spewing e-thugs who tear people down to try to generate ratings! about 17 hours ago via webReplyRetweetFavorite @ChrisWarcraft Chris Kluwe

Hey @. PUNT RETURNING IS STUPID AND SHOULD NEVER BE IN TEH GAME OMG HEADDESKSMASHRAGEQUIT.#howdoesthatsoundyoufuckingtool about 13 hours ago via webReplyRetweetFavorite @ChrisWarcraft Chris Kluwe

Wow. This man is the epitome of awesomeness. He is the god of Twitter. Seriously, I defy you to find anybody who comes up with more creative responses. Not to mention he makes a valid point. That’s why Kluwe definitely wins this war. I mean Skip has never kicked in his life and now he thinks we should ban kicking because other guys fought their guts out and it was decided by a kick? Does that mean we should ban returning because Kyle Williams fumbled the ball? I mean the 49ers fought like hell and they get set up to lose on an equally gut-wrenching play. No we shouldn’t. These things happen and are part of the game. They happen to the best of them. It’s these things that make the NFL so great. Its the heartbreak and the drama (we Vikings fans have experienced plenty of both) that make the NFL what it is. Like Kluwe said, Bayless is just spewing shit here and the suggestion that we should ban kicking is absolutely ludacris. I also feel absolutley terrible for both Williams and Billy Kundiff. I wish nothing but the best for both of these guys and hope they bounce back with a vengeance.

"Champions are champions," Williams said, "not because they do the extraordinary things but because they do the ordinary things better than anybody else. That's what I think we're going to do. We're going to run, were going to tackle, we're going to hit. We're going to play smart football, we're going to play tough football better than our opponents."

Daily Norseman Another Reason to hate Packer Fans.

I'll just copy and paste the story here and let you discuss. and oh yeah NMVIKE posted this in the fanshot area, but I wanted this article to get more attention.

Vikings fan in Madison loses second mailbox to thieves By Gitte Laasby
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Updated: 01/18/2012 05:37:03 PM CST

In Packer Nation on the north side of Madison, Wis., someone isn't a good sport.

Thieves took it as an invitation to pillage Jan. 7 when they saw a Minnesota Vikings fan proudly displaying a purple mailbox in support of the rival team, police said in a report.

It was the second time thieves decided the 56-year-old Minnesota fan's mailbox had to go. The first time, a $600 plastic mailbox in the shape of a Vikings helmet was stolen outside the home at the end of December.

The Madison Police Department, which interviewed the female victim, noted as part of a report on the incident: "It was already not a great year for the Madison-based Vikings fans. Minnesota went 3 and 13. Their team mailed it in, and now they are at a loss to fly the colors to put mail in."

Stampede Blue Viking fan trying to find more info.

Hello Colt fans.

Apparently the Vikings will be offering a job to your DB coach Alan Williams to become our new Defensive Coordinator. I for one don't know much about the guy and would like to to know what you people think or know of him, do you think he will be a good fit as a Defensive Coordinator, and did you know the Packers are the first 15-1 team to NOT win a playoff game.

That's all. Comment.

Daily Norseman My thoughts on the Vikings and CP7...

First off, I'd like to glorify and refresh everyone's memory that the Packers are the only 15-1 team to NOT win a playoff game. Also, I want everyone to remember that this is the NFL and teams can change around very, very quickly. Either for the better or the worse. The Vikings definitely have taken a turn for the worst these past two seasons, but that doesn't mean we can't change things around quickly with a smart draft and via free agency. Throughout all our games, I seen a team that never quit and kept fighting, even when it seem like the end was near, we always found a way to bounce back, usually just to fall short. With a few more bounces our way, the record could be way better then it is now. But like they say, you are what your record says you are. Going back to the statement that this team doesn't quit and plays until the end; I found it very surprising that some fans wanted this team to throw the last few games just to get a better draft pick. Granted that I understand their thinking, but you can't live with players who quit. I'd rather see my team lose with dignity then quit in defeat.

Now to express my main reason for writing this post. I want everyone to tune in to this. Christian Ponder is and will still be the Vikings Quarterback entering the 2012 season, bar an injury. I'm not a big stats guru and I'm a bit lazy to go look up very much when I write. So I write from my own perspective and opinion, which everyone might not agree with. Ok, now I've spend the past few days watching every single game that Christian Ponder has played in. Guess what I discovered? Oh, you're not going to believe this one... Christian Ponder played like a rookie. Oh no, run wild, the ship is burning down. We have a rookie quarterback who played like a rookie. Rookie mistakes tend to be, staring down receivers, getting baited into throws, making bad decisions, throwing picks, yeah, those types of things. I admit, Christian looked exactly like a rookie was suppose to... Sigh. Ok get real people.

Christian Ponder has potential. Good if not Great potential. No one knows his ceiling, yet many people put it upon themselves to set his ceiling for him. IMO he showed more promise than not. Are there concerns? Of course. He has been getting injured, but I wouldn't call him injury prone yet. I'd prefer to call him a victim of having the worst body guards a QB can have. I mean, they'd let a kicker in to Club Sack Our Quarterback. Some other concerns include his ability to throw the deep ball. Hmmm, I'm pretty sure if you watch the Atlanta Falcons game highlights, I'd think he can do that just fine with more experience. Also, i noticed that after Mike Jenkins got injured, Christian Ponder kind of fell of in production a bit. And even a bit father when Christian started getting injured himself. So what does that tell you? We really really do need a deep threat wide receiver. Percy is magical. I'm so thankful for him, and if I ever see a trade Percy post I might take it upon myself to track you down and... Nevermind this is the internet. (I don't need any witnesses.) I think it's critical to Christian's development to give him a deep threat and an O-Line. Unless we go all New England style and maximize our tight ends touches. Like I posted at my blog, the 49ers have stuck with their man 6 years and their loyalty is now paying off. Yes, I understand we had a horrible season, but you can't look at the QB position and honestly say that's our weak spot. I can't buy that I'm sorry. Again, he's a rookie. Not really trying to make excuses for him, but this really wasn't the greatest of situations to be in to start your NFL career. No deep threat WR, no Offseason, virtually no O-Line, No defense that could get you good field position, yeah, he exceeded expectations. In CP7 i trust. Do you?

Daily Norseman Tucker Back to the Jags, Spag Maybe an Eagle, So who's left?

First off, thanks to this fanshot by Landonio some now know that Tucker has turned down the Vikings job and stayed with the Jags.

Well according to this article the Vikings may have a backup plan if Spag joins the Eagles. I'm not very fund of this new name floating up in the article, but may somebody share with me more of a background on Juan Castillo? Yes, apparently the Vikings may pursue Mr. Castillo if we don't land Spagnulo, which at this point seems unlikely. HOPEFULLY the Vikings don't do what all of us fans don't want to see, promote Singletary. I have zero confidence that Singletary will improve our defense, being that our LB's declined this year, and SF all of a sudden grew great. And as quoted in the article

The only other known candidate is Vikings assistant head coach/linebackers coach Mike Singletary, 53, another close friend of Frazier's from their playing days together in Chicago. But Singletary has no experience calling defensive signals at any level, and numerous NFL sources over the past month have said Singletary's lone season with the team raised serious red flags at nearly every level of the organization.

Anywho, anyone up for Juan Castillo being our new DC? or as CCNorseman suggested, Jack Del Rio anyone?

Daily Norseman Interested in blogging?

Hello Everyone. Yes I'm back at it again. This time I plan on making this work for awhile. I'm currently working on a Minnesota Vikings blog and really really REALLY would like someone or more then one person to help me run it. This website will be a little different than your usual Vikings blog. I'm getting creative. But two minds is better than one. It won't take much effort if I have a good quanity and quality of staff to make this work. I have a vision to become a top-tier Minnesota Vikings site, but I'd rather be a little lazy and have help to bail me out at times. If you're interested post a comment here or email me privately at vikingholic@gmail.com.

Thank you I will be waiting to hear from some of you.

Uh oh. Come on Vikings give this team a stadium. This title was a headline on NFL.com

Ok would make this a fanshot, but many people don't read them. So I made this a fanpost. Hope Zygi don't take this approach and sell the team. He did mention that he would never move the team, but selling them is still in the picture if we don't get this stadium done. SKOL!

Daily Norseman Where I feel the Vikings are disrespected.

So I went over to NFL.com and did my weekly routine in watching Viking videos for upcoming games. Earlier in the week I watched the Vikings vs. Packers preview. I though alright, that's fair enough. The Packers have the better team this year, but that doesn't mean they will have the better team Monday. So I let the video sink in and just hoped the Vikings could pull off the upset. AND THEN this morning I went over to watch the Packers vs. Vikings playbook. Let me tell you at the conclusion of the video I was pissed. The Vikings, apparently don't need to bring a playbook Monday. Throughout the WHOLE video, the Vikings team name was said ONLY once and that was in the beginning. "Packers vs. Vikings." Throughout the rest of the duration of the video, it was Packers, Packers, Packers. No Vikings anywhere. No, what can the Vikings do to pull of the upset, only, how great the Packers are and they are so great that mentioning the Vikings even isn't important because the Packers are sooooo awesome and won't lose. Guaranteed. <<<It's a unanimous Packers over Vikings selection. That's understandably, but Come on people, the Packers have to worry about the Vikings too. This isn't just a gimme game. This really pissed me off the hear them drool over the Packers the whole video and didn't even care if the Vikings had a team or not to be spoken upon.

Check it out yourself... http://www.nfl.com/videos/minnesota-vikings

Daily Norseman Assuming that Christian Ponder is the Answer, the Vikings missing pieces are...

Not too long ago, 2009 to be exact, the Vikings were the best team in the NFL. Yes, we were absolutely  unstoppable and if not for a conspiracy, we would've won the Superbowl. Ok that's out the way. Many people say we are in rebuilding mode. I'm kind of on the fence. I kind of agree and kind of don't. Maybe we are though, but I'd like to take a quick look at exactly what we lost from that 2009 team that we could use on this team to help us become contenders again. (Which i think we will soon.)
