A Great Read about Dez on the Mothership

Good article in which Dez attributes his growth on and off the field: "I found myself."

Larry Allen runs down Saints LB to prevent TD. Y'all have to see this link I found on the Mothership,. It's his rookie year.

Lacewell Likes Kiffin as DC

According to Timmy MacMahon JJ confidant Larry Lacewell has no problems with the Cowboys' interest in Monte Kiffin: The Cowboys met with Kiffin at Valley Ranch on Thursday, and Lacewell assumes...

WATBs wondering if Cowboys practice too hard

Some ESPN wanker is posting a clip from the Mothership showing the Cowboys practicing 11v11, no pads, what I would call "touch football". The implication is the Boys are violating the CBA by having "contact" drills. You have to follow the link to see the vid, but Looks like a case of WATBs (whiney ass titty babies).

Defense "Excited" about Return of Spears

Per Rob Phillips at the Mothership, Marcus Spears' teammates seem to place a greater value on having Spears back than his critics. Ware and James quotes are solid.

Anybody figured out yet why Resigned Free Agents Can't Practice until next Thursday?

Seems like a silly byproduct of some overlooked detail in the new rules. If they can sign on Friday, why do they have to wait until the new League Year starts next Thursday, August 4? Someone in the NFL should look at this. It's like saying, "Look you only have a little over a week to install your stuff, but re-signed vets can't practice the first week. We know it's goofy but . . ."

I am so Jonesing for football. Check out the new DL coach.

I can't wait to see the defense start attacking under Rob Ryan. I'll bet they can't wait either. Rob Ryan's going to take the tools he's got here and wreak havoc on OC's, if not immediately, then at least in the last 9-10 games when it matters most.

More news to get your TC shorts jumping

Todd Archer's got a recent post up about how the Cowboys have called in their coaches to do a little pre-camp work in anticipation of the lockout being lifted soon. Methinks Jerry wouldn't give the go ahead on this if he weren't pretty sure.

Well, here's the answer at safety--Sensabaugh

The Cowboys, i.e. Jason Garrett, wants Sensi and Kosier back next year. And he's not alone. "New defensive coordinator Rob Ryan likes Sensabaugh and believes he can make him a better player. Sensabaugh struggled at times last season but finished strong, finishing tied for the team lead with five interceptions. He also tied for third with nine pass breakups." Let the wailing begin.

Cowboys interview Packers WR coach

Todd Archer's got this up. It says that JG and Jimmy Robinson were together on the Giants. Don't know what to make of this since it would be a lateral move apparently.

Is there more to this holdup in announcement than we thought?

It's been several days since the Eagles fired McDermott. And this is only a conjecture. But certainly the Eagles would be interested in Rob Ryan for their DC job, and the longer this thing goes without an official announcement begins to give me pause. Has the "sure thing" turned otherwise? At some point over the weekend, did Philly call Ryan and has he put the brakes on now that he has another viable opportunity? Did Philly complicate the contract negotiation? We'll see.

Cowboys to allow Herring to interview with Houston

I see this as further evidence that Ryan is coming with some staff in mind. It was smart of the Cowboys to wait on Herring. But now that they know who the DC is and who he wants, they can let him go work with Wade again.

Norv tells Patrick to shut up

Evidently, Patrick Crayton's penchant for loose talk with the media has already gotten a little old in San Diego. What's strange is he's not even talking about his special teams unit, but the kickoff coverage.

Sean Lee probably won't play vs. Bears

According to Tim McMahon's blog. Seems Lee pulled his hammy on the first punt and didn't tell anyone. Could have impacted the punt coverage.

Miami signs Bobby Carpenter

Some predicted it. It might have even been inevitable. But the Cowboys East signed Bobby Carpenter for inside LB depth and special teams help. Hat tip to Cowboy Nation for having the link first.

Marcus Spears Injures MCL

Marcus Spears injured toward the end of today's practice.

Via ESPN:Sharper's surgery more serious than first reported

Doesn't micro-fracture surgery take about a year's recovery?
