First Cuts
Looking at the roster, I am trying to identify where our first cuts are going to be. We need to trim the roster from 80 to 75 players on Tuesday. It's a little harder than I initially thought. You can't cut certain positions due to the fact that your starters may not play, so you need to keep depth at the position in the event of injuries. You also want to keep "bubble" players to ensure that they have the chance to separate from other "bubble" players.
- John Phillips (TE) to the IR
- Jimmy Saddler-McQueen (DT)
- Jason Pociask (TE)
- Manuel Johnson (WR)
- Mike Tepper (OT)
John Connor
I know a lot of you guys liked John Connor for the Cowboys to draft. Saw a little article over on the mothership on the Jets who drafted him in the 6th round.
Bears Targetting S Nate Allen
They could be looking for a trade partner, which could mean trouble for the Cowboys if they look to get ahead of us.
Earl Thomas pulls his hamstring
It kind of sucks for him, but maybe the injury would drop him down a few spots.
What about an RFA?
Looking through the RFA Tenders that have been coming through. Is there any reason not to consider going after some of the Offensive Line Players that have been tendered an RFA?
Willie Colon (Steelers) & Tyson Clabo (Falcons) were both tendered just First-Round Compensation. Both have been starting RTs for the last several few years. They are only in their 4th (26yo) & 5th (28yo) season respectively. Potentially get a solid starter for the next 5-6 years, while not a starter for 7-10 years, you know what you are getting for your draft pick.
I don't know all of the OL that have RFA tenders, maybe Raf or OCC will do a piece, but I have started to like this option.
Off-Season Moves: Defense
It was fun being GM for a little while. Mixed reviews on my last post.
Without further ado, here is my GM for the day on Defense:

Off-Season Moves: Offense / ST
I believe next year will be very advantageous for the Dallas Cowboys if it does in fact become an uncapped year. I know there are some restrictions on who we can sign and for how much, but where the true advantage comes is getting younger. Since there is no cap/floor for the team salary, the guaranteed money that gets accelerated will not hurt the team. The beauty of this is that the majority of the guaranteed money is in the signing bonus. This means Jerry Jones has already written the check, and the only money Jerry needs to pay if someone is traded or cut would be the non-signing bonus portion of the guaranteed money. If I say trade/cut someone, I put the approximate cost to do so based on their contract.
I am not going to really talk about other Free Agents to target in this post, as I want to see who is on the UFA list before commenting. I know there are some restrictions for Free Agents, but to be honest, it won’t limit us as much as some people believe.
