The Official "Pax bring Beasley to Chi-Town" thread...
Whatever many may think of Scoop Jackson, the man says as it is. Please follow the link to what is essentially an open letter to Pax (below, I am attaching the main points of his arguments anyway).
I do not understand all this Rose-hysteria and agree 100% with Scoop. Beasley will be the new dominant force in the NBA and whilst Rose can be a fantastic point guard he does not provide the two things this team is desperate for scoring and some old fashioned bad-ass "I will beat you whatever it takes" attitude.
Beasley is our man and a young player with an insatiable appetite to win and dominate... Rose on the other hand whilst talented was not able to finish off the game for Memphis against Kansas. I know that's only one game but... I just have a hunch that Pooh is not what we're looking for. I think we have enough "unselfish" players on our roster, we need someone who is not afraid to be the go-to-guy... someone like Mike Beasley. Over to Scoop:
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=jackson/080522&sportCat=nba
" Your team is stockpiled at the guard position, and you have zero players who can score inside. Not a one. You've got a perimeter-shooting team that can't shoot, and no one who can drive to the basket off the dribble. Your team went from an Eastern Conference semifinalist to a 33-game winner in one year. You have several players who can go off for 20 to 30 points on any given Wednesday, but no one you can count on to stop scoring droughts that sometimes last longer than a whole quarter.... Yet you are being pressed to draft someone who really doesn't solve your main problem. Here's the thing. If you draft Rose, what are you going to do with Ben Gordon, Kirk Hinrich and Larry Hughes? You gonna trade Kirk and his contract? You gonna not re-sign Ben and lose him for nothing? Unless you plan to make a change with one or all of them soon, adding Rose to the mix is like the Knicks adding Steve Francis to a roster that already had Stephon Marbury and Jamal Crawford. And we all know how that turned out. All I'm saying is, with your squad built the way it is, where would Rose fit? How does he solve your biggest on-the-court problem? Now, I know Rose can do the one thing that no one else on your roster seems to be able to do: attack the basket. I know he can score in the paint with ease. But good NBA teams -- teams that go beyond the conference finals, teams that can get past Boston in the next three years -- are teams that are built with balance. They are teams that are more than one- or two-dimensional on offense. Teams that don't have to rely on jump shots and teardrops in order to win. And yeah, I've heard all of the Chris Paul and Deron Williams comparisons with Pooh. But you know, and I know, that what makes those two what they've become is the fact that they have players with a post presence to take the pressure off them to do everything offensively. CP has David West, an All-Star. D-Will has Carlos Boozer, another All-Star. Even Tony Parker -- whose game is very similar to what Rose's game will be, I think -- has Tim Duncan, and that tandem allows the team to continue to play for titles year after year. You got that player for Rose once he gets here, Pax? You got that plan in effect? Look, man. All things real, Joakim Noah, Tyrus Thomas and Drew Gooden are not scorers in the paint. They are all good at what they do, but what they do is not what you need with the squad you have. Adding Mr. Beasley -- a 6-foot-10 beast who could be unstoppable in the East, except maybe against KG -- to what you already have wouldn't just make you better. It would make you complete. And when you are complete, you can compete. Johnnie Cochran told me that one."128 comments | 1 recs
Hubie Brown says: "TT ain't all that"... and I agree!
According to Hubie:
"They thought this kid Thomas would develop, and he has not,". "That, to me, is every bit as big as the team's injury problem. Everyone was looking for growth from him, fewer mental mistakes when the game is on the line. That can be a defensive assignment, offensive continuity or, more importantly, shot selection."
"If they had gotten that major upside, then maybe you could have accepted a less-than-average performance from Wallace."
Contrary to most people on this blog, I think I agree. I still believe that this particular draft-day trade was one of Pax'x biggest mistakes, one he will regret for years to come. I would definitely have taken LaMarcus rather than TT.
The problem with TT is that other than a freakish athletic ability, I seriously don't think there is much else. The guy is (sometimes!) exciting to watch but other than that, no consistency, no basketball IQ.. He would be great as a Harlem Globetrotter but I doubt whether he will ever be a key part of an NBA team (which is what he was drafted for).
Many people moan that he is not given minutes. The truth is he has been given many chances but he just doesn't deliver on a consistent basis. This is his 2nd year in the league and unfortunately for Tyrus, every superstar that ever graced the NBA was a solid contributor night-in, night-out, by their 2nd year.
I say definitely trade this summer.

Change....
Just a few thoughts:
a.) The sacking of Skiles IMO signals the end of what will be remembered as the "Baby Bulls" era. It didn't work, it is OVER... To keep arguing that Kirk, BG, Luol, TT are the future of this organisation, untradeable etc. is a delusion (unless we are content with 2nd round playoff exits as "the future"). The longer it takes Pax to understand this, the worse off we will be.
b.) Pax is responsible for firstly the draft & trade mistakes that have been made (the list is long...), and more importantly for not getting the most value out of this roster by chickening out of trades that would have made us a competitor for years to come in a very much winable Eastern Conference (KG, Pau & Kobe spring to mind, just look at what the Celtics have achieved).
c.) We need to cut our losses... i.e make a few trades, hire a COACH (and get rid of this weak figure we currently have) and change the make up and core of this loser team while our tradeable assets still have any value. This process should start now and be completed in the offseason so we do not have to endure this crap for another season.
Phew, got it off my chest...

Pax, PLEASE do not trade Chapu...
Chapu is so valuable to the Bulls that John Paxson made the rare move of a proactive offer to a restricted free agent.
Andres is the LIFE & SOUL of the Bulls and the symbol of the new generation of the Chicago Bulls. Nocioni averaged 14.1 points and 5.7 rebounds during the 2006 - 2007 season but was unfairly criticised from many haters for a poor performance against Detroit in the 2007 playoffs which was mainly due to the fact that he battled pain from plantar fasciitis in his right foot and a strained right quadriceps muscle.
His great performance against Miami in the 1st round of the 2007 Playoffs was quickly forgotten by an unforgiving media.
PAX you have made the first step in re-signing Chapu. Please do not trade him as part of any transfer deal. Noce is UNTOUCHABLE...
PS If you are on Facebook and agree with this opinion, please join the relevant group I have created...
