BSH/Flyers Faithful 2012 Roller Tourney
Just thought I'd jump this off. I'm not quite sure the best way to go about this. I guess to begin we should get a quick head count of those who want to play? I'd like to get things set as quickly as possible so we can be sure of a team so I can take off work that weekend.
Travis, if you have any insight on how we should go about this, please jump in. I assume you're playing?
Anyhow, note in the comments if you're planning on playing. I'm not sure how we handle it when we get above 11 people, but I guess we'll figure that out when it happens....

Final: BSH Pick-Up Game....Sunday Oct. 2 @ 10am
In case there was confusion as to where we're playing....it's the rink off of Ridge in Roxborough where we ended up last time, not the rink in Belmont Hills. Click on the blue "View Larger Map" for exact location, or use the address below for GPS. I'll be getting there a little after 9 to hold the rink, and warm up for a bit. (maybe have a beer, also)
I'd give out my number in case anyone gets lost, but that would probably bite me in the ass later on, so if anyone that knows the area wants to put it out there, go ahead. See you all tomorrow!
Not to steal Jen's thunder, I just felt we needed a final post to cement the details. So if you're playing, just comment that you're in and whether you play goal, and if you're bringing anyone. This way we can get a headcount to make sure it's worth everyone showing up.
I think it's best we play at the secondary rink we played at, as the first one in Belmont Hills is reserved sometimes. We'll start at 10am, as that's about when we've started all the other ones, and some people have a bit of a drive. (unless majority wants a different start time)
Again, all are welcome, foot or skate. I'm sure most will be going out afterwards. There is an Applebee's that we took over last time. Not an ideal place, but right next to the rink, and it has a lot of bar seating. Any other idea's are welcome.
The rink is at the intersection of Graykin Lane and Sequoia Rd. There is only street parking and the rink is down below the basketball courts.
Link to the rink: (It's the green arrow. I suck at Google Map.)

BSH Ice Pick-Up Game Head Count
Update: We're narrowing down the dates to my post below. If you want to play, let it be known what dates are good for you, how many you'd be bringing, and if you're a goalie or not. As we get a head count, we'll update the schedule particulars.
The game would be played at Aston IceWorks in Aston, PA,
Link to website: www.iceworks.net
_________________________________________________________________________________________
Seeing as the last couple times we've tried to get a roller game together, things fizzled because of the weather, I wanted to get a tentative count on who would be interested in an ice game. The weather won't screw us, and frankly, it's hella fun.
DLJr plays at the Aston IceWorks, and knows the guy that runs it, so maybe that would be the best place to try to get a game. (not trying to make you work here Don, but I figured it might go smoothest if you could set the game up there?) I was told it would be in the $400 range. Not sure how long that's for, but with 20 guys, it's only $20 a person, which is nothing.
Anyway, if this is something you'd be up for in the somewhat near future, drop a line. Note the best days for you, and times, although I'd gather we're limited to the rinks schedule. Once we figure if can get a decent crew together for a game, we can try to schedule it from there.
Also, if you see this slipping down the FanPosts, rec it to keep it relevant at least until we get things figured out.

BSH Pick-Up Game--This Sunday, JAN. 16th
When: This Sunday, Jan 16th 9:00am-the first body drops
Where: Houston Playground
900 Grakyn Lane
Philadelphia, Pa 1928 (really Upper Roxborough)
Map: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=40.069332,-75.231442&z=17&t=h&hl=en
The snow forced us to cancel last week's, so we'll try again this Sunday. We got some snow last night, but that should be gone by then. The rest of the week looks like clear sailing, weather-wise.
One thing, there was some talk about the start time earlier. I know some people have long drives, and some people work nights, so what is everyone's feeling on our 9am start? We want to accomodate everyone, so speak up if you prefer a later start. Bear in mind, we try to start early to get the rink for ourselves, as we learned last time. But if enough people want a later start, then so be it......
Any questions, ask below. If you plan on playing, just give a shout-out that you're in so we can attempt to get a head count......
Pick Up Game Cancelled, Changed to Sunday Jan. 16th
Well, the snow forced our hands. Rather than tomorrow the 9th, let's shoot for next Sunday, the 16th.
RSVP and invite your friends on Facebook.
Address: 900 Grakyn Lane
Philadelphia, PA 19128
For GPS and Mapquest people. While it's a Philly address, it's really just north of Manayunk.
Update: Next Sunday, Jan 16th 9:00am at the 2nd rink we played at last time, off of Ridge Ave. on Grakyn Lane, where it hits Sequoia Rd. in Roxborough. If you didn't make it last time, when you turn off Ridge onto Grakyn, it goes up and ends, turn quickly to the right, then immediately to the left, then take that up until it 90 degrees to the left. There is a park on your right and the rink is at the bottom. Park on the street. Some links:
Original Post: Well, the holidays are coming to an end, it's gonna get a little warmer, so the snow should be melting, and it's time for the planning to start. I know we had a bunch of the guys that wanted to try an every sunday thing, so maybe we can muster enough enthusiasm for next Sunday? I was thinking maybe we should start an e-mail ring, thingy or whatever. All the guys in for the games exchange emails, and keep in contact that way, instead of cluttering up the FanPost? Or is it easier to keep track this way?
Anywho, who would be up for next Sunday, the 9th? Preferably at the second rink we played at, just off Ridge, as that one seems like it would never be used, and it had a penalty box, which is cool.

Pick Up Game- Oct. 10th? Head count
The season is almost upon us, cooler weather is setting in, so I figure this is a great time to throw out the idea for our next game. I swore I wouldn't try to organize another after the colossal failure of the last one, but here we are. Anyone interested, throw out some dates, and let's see if we can get the ball (or puck) rolling. Geez, I need seven more words. There.
<Update> Let's set a date of Oct. 10th and get a head count together....

BSH Game Finals Detail - THIS SUNDAY!
Date: August 8th (this sunday) 10:00am (if you can get there earlier, all the better, so we can secure the rink. Power in numbers. I plan on trying to get there around 9 or so.)
Location: Lewis J. Smith Park and Swimming Pool
122 Mary Waters Ford Road, Bala Cynwyd PA 19004
Quickly, if you're on 76, you want the Belmont Ave. exit. If coming east, take exit and make a right, if coming west, take exit and make a left. You're first right comes up very quckly (right at the gas station) and is Ashland Ave. Take that and follow Ashland Ave. Don't bear right on Jefferson St. Ashland will wrap around to a stop where you make a soft left/straight and it becomes Marywatersford Rd. Go approx. 1/4 mile and park will be on your left. There are two entrances. The first will bring you back to tennis courts, and the next will take you back to the rink. (okay, not so quickly....)
Things to bring: Bring both a white shirt, and an orange shirt, for teams. Any friends are welcome to play as well. Any extra equipment (goalie stuff) that you don't mind sharing wouldn't hurt, just to be sure we have enough stuff.
I know we always say we're going to go out afterward for drinks, but last time it didn't happen, so maybe if we don't all run ourselves into the ground, we can hop out somewhere for a little when we're done.
Anything I forgot? Let me know, and I'll add it. Rec. this so it sticks out...
Travis, maybe late in the week you can throw a post up on the main page just so we're sure everyone sees it?

Next pick-up game?
For those that came out last weekend, I hope everyone had as good a time as I did. Any interest in doing this again as soon as possible? I had a blast playing with all, and had an equally good time watching the game together afterward. It would be awesome to do this during play-off time. Game 6 is next sunday. PJ's was a great place to watch the game, with a lot of Flyers fans in attendance. Any thoughts?
Changing the points system
I'm relatively new to this site so I apologize if this is something that has been covered before, but how does everyone feel about the current point system? I personally hate how some games are worth 3 points while others are only worth 2. It creates an absolute logjam in the standings. It seems as if there are teams that have lost so many more games than won, but are still in the hunt right now, whereas they wouldn't be under the old system. I feel a team should be rewarded more for winning in regulation than a team that must go to overtime or shootout (at least if the losing team is going to be rewarded for taking it to OT) At least when we had ties, every game was worth the same, and the standings gave a clear indication of how a team stood against others.
