Gang Green Nation PFT says Alan Faneca has landed in AZ

It looks like Faneca is a Cardinal now, and not even for any more than he would have made with the Jets, technically. He signed for 2.5 mil, but apparently the Jets were offering less to keep him in addition to the gauranteed money they had to pay of course as well. It is hard to grasp that he is gone, but I unfortunately have to say I hope he is done, along with Leon. I am sorry, but I want the Jets to be right about every player every time. LOL

Gang Green Nation Kinda upset we didnt look at Legarette Blount

I know he was just a undrafted rookie, but the guy looked good at the combine, and idk if he would have off the field problems, but I am sure the guy gets drafted without the punching issue, so why not give him a shot? I dont know anything about the UFAs we did take at RB, heck Idk much about Blount, but I watched the combine I liked him, and his highlights dont look amazing but he seems like a guy who could make any roster. Sorry if anyone touched on this already.

Gang Green Nation What are we doing at QB????

I am getting concerned now, last I counted we had 4 qbs. Clemens has unfortunately confirmed that he is not a real backup at this point, and will not take a starting job for the Jets anytime soon. I think its time to part ways or trade Ainge or O'Connell. Those 2 dont really have any value though.

As far as getting someone else I really dont want Mark Brunell in any scenario. I realize we cant sign him until July anyway, but I will be more frustrated if Marc Bulger gets signed before that. I see that at least they are aware, but at the same time we cant go into the season with 5 qbs its bad enough having 4. The other guy I would rather see is Jeff Garcia of course. We need someone who can keep us alive and maybe even win for us in the playoffs. That cant be Clemens for sure.

Also give me Byron Leftwich before getting Mark Brunell.

Gang Green Nation Who can we compare Joe Mcknight to?

I think its clear we cant just plug him in and automatically say he can be as good as Leon was. I dont think he is anything like Leon first and foremost. But my comparison is that he has the potential to be Felix Jones. I think he has the frame of Chris Johnson, hate to mention that name because the speed isnt close, and I dont think he can run away from everyone like Chris. But maybe he can break tackles just as good. He doesnt have elite speed, and he is not as low to the ground as other RBs, so I think its hard to find a potential comparison. Maybe even Jamaal Charles although charles may have better speed, Mcknight may have the foot speed which translate well in the nfl. We will see.

Gang Green Nation What about Joey Porter or Jamal Lewis

I am trying to figure out what the Jets are waiting for when it comes to looking for a pass rusher. We cant wait for this guy to get snagged up by another team, or wait for him to recieve interest before waking up. Most players constantly say they want to be wanted, and pass rusher is a huge need for us.

Granted Porter and Ryan may have gotten into a little spat, but this is his chance to play with the best D in the league, and he has an opportunity to get serious numbers. Also he might be thinking about getting back at the team that released him. OK, he is pretty old, but still this is a guy who is coming off of a 9 sack season.  He could also be a mentor for players like Gholston, or a rookie pass rusher that we pick up. Isnt this a guy we should at least be talking to?

Jamal Lewis I am not as high on, he is coming off a really down season, and is 30+. However he has spent his whole carrer as a lead rushing bruiser back, and most recently behind a poor o-line. If you think about the RB's we have on the roster Shonn Greene, Power/Speed back low to the ground who excels against DBs, but is a serious injury concern. This is mainly a concern if he is over used in short yardage, obvious run situations. We know Leon is the opposite side of the spectrum, slasher/pass catcher with East/West/North/South speed. If  however we bring Jamal Lewis in to take care of the dirty work we can keep both Shoon and Leon healthy and fresh. Also I am sure he would gladly accept the backup role, and he can prolong his career by taking a lesser role. Can we say the same is true of most of the other high profile backs that we are capable of signing: LT, FWP, or BW. Not to mention none of them give a different dynamic, and really fit only if we lose Leon.

That said I would consider other RBs, ie Lamont Jordan somewhat falls into that category, but I feel Jamal is the best fit.
