Vikant

Apr 15, 2009 May 28, 2012 22 4553

I was born in ST Croix U.S. Virgin Islands but i have lived in Minnesota all my life. I have been a vikings fan since I was 6. (1997- to the present) I love them to death even though i I am very critical of them. I have not seen any of the super bowl runs of the 70's but the pain still burns deep But I have lived through 98' , 41-0 and most recently the 09' heart-breaker. But i will never give up on my team no matter what. i want to see a SB title run for the vikes more than life itself. but patience is a virtue.

Daily Norseman Vikings have their second Pro Bowler

According to NFL.com

Minnesota Vikings linebacker Chad Greenway has been picked for his first Pro Bowl.

Greenway, who had a personal-best 154 tackles this season, will replace injured Chicago Bears linebacker Lance Briggs on the NFC roster. The Vikings made the announcement Monday.

"I'm excited to be going to the Pro Bowl, representing the Vikings and to be there with Jared (Allen)," Greenway said, according to the team's official website. "I couldn't have done it without a lot of help and support from my teammates and coaches. Even though we didn't have the kind of season we wanted to as far as winning games, we have guys who are proud and want to get back to the top. I'm honored to be thought of as a Pro Bowler and will make the most of the opportunity."

Greenway has led the Vikings in tackles for four consecutive seasons.

Allen is a starter in the Pro Bowl, which will be played Jan. 29 in Honolulu.

Daily Norseman Espn discuss Christian Ponder........... and Cam Newton

Just found this today. in this video the 1&10 crew discuss the  performances of Christian Ponder and number one overall pick Cam Newton. and of course ole' Skippy bayless had to  give his 2 cents. not much to say about this just skip being skip. But he did state that he has watched many FSU games and that Poise can evaporate quickly with Christian Ponder and that ponder will ultimately disappoint

Daily Norseman First the Lakers now the Vikings?

NFL.com reports that

A Minnesota Vikings official told the team's website Tuesday that two groups from Los Angeles have approached the team about relocating there.

The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported the revelation by Lester Bagley, the Vikings' vice president of public affairs, as he discussed the team's attempt to gain approval for a new stadium during next year's legislative session.

"We have been approached by two different groups in Los Angeles -- the Ed Roski group and  more recently by former Timberwolves CEO Tim Leiweke and AEG," Bagley wrote in response to a question. "In 2009 when the NFL had an owners' meeting in Southern California, Mr. Wilf and Vikings management toured LA Live to try to get ideas on building a similar sports/entertainment district in Minnesota.

"Clearly, the Vikings stadium issue is being followed nationally and it's no secret that we're down to the last year on our lease. We've told those groups that we are focused on resolving the issue in Minnesota. We feel solid momentum and feel we're well-positioned with the new legislature and governor. Instead of spending energy speculating on other markets, let's keep the focus on building a world-class facility for the community and the State of Minnesota."

Philip Anschutz and his Anschutz Entertainment Group, which has proposed building a multi-use stadium in downtown Los Angeles, also have been linked to the San Diego Chargers.

Bagley also wrote that while the Vikings have stated their desire to build a stadium on the site of the Metrodome, the team is "completing our due diligence on a number of potential stadium sites," including "some in Minneapolis and one suburban site

Daily Norseman No Fun League Strikes Again

So NFL will announce Wednesday that players will face suspension for "devastating and head shots"

I really cant believe  this. i get the the NFL is trying to protect its players  and limit the amount of concussions and

injuries on the field.  are but there taking the one of the main things football which the hard hits which I believe that is

just stupid. Forcing defensive players to hit low will only cause more problems

so what is everyone else opinion on this?

So I just recently heard on the Fox pregame show from Jay Glazer that the NFL recently threatened Jared Allen if he did

his patented sack dace that not only would he be fined but also the be vikings would be flagged  because your not

allowed to get on your knees for a celebration. WTF! why all of a sudden is this a problem now when he's been doing it

for several years.  really stupid

Daily Norseman No point in watching the 2010 NFL Season

From the NFC standpoint at least. because apparently no other team in NFC is better then the almighty Green Bay Packers.

ill admit that Green bay is a great team and will probably  make the playoffs or win this division but this is ridiculous!

Daily Norseman Trust Issues

in case you haven't already heard according to a yahoo sports article that favre The head coach brad childress. a part of

the article states that

"According to multiple team sources, Favre’s disdain for Childress is deep.

“Brett thinks Childress has no clue about offense,” a Vikings player said.

Childress’ presence, not Favre’s ankle injury, was one of the biggest reasons Favre was hesitating about playing

again, sources said. In early July, Favre had indicated to one player that he was likely to play. However, after Childress visited Favre on July 19, Favre’s desire to return declined.

“Brett just doesn’t trust him,” a player said."

(sighs and rolls eyes)

Daily Norseman NFL Changing Overtime Rules

For the playoffs at least

INDIANAPOLIS -- An NFL spokesman says the league could change its overtime format for playoff games at a meeting next month.

Greg Aiello said Satuday that under the new format, both teams would get the ball at least once unless the first team to get the ball scores a touchdown.

If the first team to get the ball makes a field goal and the other team ties the game, action would continue until a team scores again.

Under the current rules, the first team to score wins.

The competition committee will discuss the new concept with teams and players at league meetings March 21-24 in Orlando, Fla., when it could come to a vote. At least two thirds of the teams would need to agree to the changes for new rules to be adopted.

Daily Norseman The Vikings playoff run will "end" next sunday

http://www.nfl.com/videos/minnesota-vikings/09000d5d8158ea1e/Inside-the-NFL-Top-teams-in-trouble

Well according to some NFL "experts" The Minnestoa vikings will be the first top seeded team to lose come

divsional weekend. What? are you serious? And they dont even give any  reasonable support to back up thier

Claims. I mean I know that Vikings lost 3 of thier last 5 games going down the streach but come on they dont even

mention the saints and ther problems. Just to clarify, I believe all these guys know their stuff about NFL football and

are experts...but this just seemed pretty irresponsible and unprepared the way they picked the 'top team in trouble'

, only Sapp had a take, and a weak one at that also Cris Colingsworth smug little face states we will lose to the

Cowboys . Yes te evidence is there that  our running game is not were it should and the defense can be suspect at

times but the vikings have no chance really Please.

Daily Norseman NFC North Grades

According to John Clayton These are the follwing grades for the nfc north divison

NFC NORTH

Minnesota Vikings: GRADE: A-
Brett Favre delivered a No. 2 playoff seed and 5.7 more points a game to an offense (29.4 ppg. in '09) that was only one-dimensional under Tarvaris Jackson. With nine Pro Bowlers, the Vikings have the richest roster for talent in the conference and helped themselves with a great draft that included wide    receiver Percy Harvin and right tackle Phil Loadholt.

Green Bay Packers: GRADE: A
Aaron Rodgers matured, throwing for nearly 4,500 yards and proving he can win big games. Defensive coordinator Dom Capers guided a successful switch to a 3-4 defense that is stout against the run and solid against the pass, making Green Bay a dangerous wild-card playoff team.

 Chicago Bears: GRADE: D-
Quarterback Jay Cutler turned into an assistant coach killer by throwing interceptions, tuning out those around him and throwing off his back foot. Six offensive coaches, including coordinator Ron Turner, were dismissed Tuesday. A defensive core group that has been together for seven years continues to fall apart, and with needs on offense more pressing, it might not get reinforcements.

Detroit Lions: GRADE: D
By season's end, only 20 players from the 2008 0-16 team were left on the 53-man active roster. Detroit improved by only two games, a major disappointment. The team did have a good draft with quarterback Matthew Stafford, tight end Brandon Pettigrew and safety Louis Delmas, but it might need two more good drafts to be competitive.

See anything wrong with this picture? do you agree?

Poll
Do the Vikings deserve the grade they got?
Yes. They had a pretty good season
33 votes
No. they should have gotten an A+
6 votes
No. They should have been graded worse

How the heck did they get graded lower than the packers! ???

Daily Norseman Super Bowl Journey: The sky is the limit

http://www.nfl.com/videos/minnesota-vikings/09000d5d814e745b/Super-Bowl-Journey-Sky-s-the-limit

the vikings are one of the best teams in the Nfl. led by stars  such as Adrian Peterson, Brett Favre, Percy Harvin,

Sidney Rice and etc. They are also for the most part are solid on defense. this team as has the tools to make an

unbeliveable run in the post season. So the question is  Can the vikes go all the way?  this young wideout believes

they can! Sidney Rice shares his thoughts.

Daily Norseman Say What?

The #1 scoring defense in the NFL will shut down AP and Favre and we'll run wild on your OVERRATED defense. Look at the mutual opponents our teams have played and you'll shut your mouth. The Bengals deserve all of the accolades they're getting.

Bengals D is licking their chops. Freewheelin Favre and a busted up Vikes O-line. Not to mentioned the D is decimated by injuries. Cincy should take it to them Sunday. The Bengals are by far the more physical team in this matchup.

espn bengal fans classy guys

Daily Norseman Packers Making a Comeback

No offense to my fellow vikings fans but  after watching the MNF game and then theespn lovefest of Aaron rodgers

(made me sick) and the green bay packers

I am starting to believe that Packer are once again becoming a threat not only in the playoffs but  to the NFC north

Divison Title. Their defense is much improved and thier protecting Aaron Rodgers a hell of alot better than the did

first 8 games. this team for some reason is looking real legit to me and they might come back and bite us in the

playoffs. the vikings better figure out their issues or we could be in trouble.

by the way this is just my opinion I am a 100% vikings fan so please dont call me a traitor or a fairweather fan.

Daily Norseman interesting Statement By Skip

I was recently watching a video on espn.com. it was a clip of the show espn first take and they were talking about a

statement Packers Head Coach Mike Macarthy made about the Cowboys Offense and how is the best offense they

faced to date. Which was weird because they have faced the vikings twice. (it was like a shot at  the vikings  and

brett farve). So not surprisingly Skip Bayless agree's with Macarthy and says the cowboys offense in more of a

threat than the vikings offense. Then he proceeds to make a simply outrageous statment saying how he would

Rather take Marion Barber, Felix Jones, and Tashard Choice over Adrian Peterson and how peterson in not a make

miss guy. then he also says he would take Miles austin and Jason witten over an two vikings receviers along with

taking the coyboys chemistry over the Vikings because of the Preseson Schism. and I'm like WTF! I wish I had the

video to show you but I cant find it on the site anymore. so what do you think? i remind you this was be fore the

Cowboys and Packers game like the week before.

Daily Norseman Drunk lions fans

Here what the description read

The two girls in front of us were drunk before the game started. They grabbed one of our signs and trashed it (real classy) because were Vikings fans, and then spent most of the first half mocking us instead of watching the game because the Lions were ahead.

They left their seats and we thought they were gone for good but somehow they managed to buy even more beer and get back to their seats. They were spilling beer on themselves, the seats, and some of the other fans. After they spilled quite a bit of beer on the guys in the row below them, they turned around and told them to SIT DOWN. One girl didnt like that so she poured the rest of her beer on his head. Then I knew it was time to start the camera :)"
