Golden State Of Mind New WARRIORS owner/savior announced today

According to MT and Tim Kawakami, new Dubs owner would be announced today.  I am pumped!..life of a Warrior fan I tell you....This is our draft lottery, we are like kids in an orphanage waiting for that rich couple who would take us in.

If its anyone not named Ellison, I will be really pissed and disappointed.  More disappointed than us trading Robert Parish, Tim Hardaway, J rich, drafting Udoh, Fuller, Foyle, O Bryant, Diogu letting Baron go etc etc etc.

Does God/Buddah/Allah love us Warrior fans?  We shall find out

UPDATE: Sale not to be announced today. Perhaps tomorrow.  But the latest development according to Marcus Thompson is that Ellison is indeed in the running with another finalist, not Mastrov but Joseph Lacob, a venture capitalist and a part owner of the Celtics.

ARRRGGGHHH...... this is turning out to be Foyle over Kobe all over again!

PLEASE LARRY SAVE US!

Golden State Of Mind would you help a nemesis to help yourself?

Yes that nemesis would be the hated LA lakers, and no we're not getting Kobe Bryant.  Instead we're sending them 3 Los Angelenos: Corey Maggette, Ronny Turiaf and Marcus Williams.

With Bynum's injury the Lakers are obviously in need of someone to patrol the middle and for a team with Championship aspirations, they need to fill in that void quick, and who better fill that role but with someone who is familiar on how things are done over in LA, Ronny Turiaf.

Who are we getting?  Well how about the prototype Nellie all everything player: Lamar Odom.  Can you imagine this guy playing for Nellie?  He would be a beast unleashed!  And this is where Maggette comes into play.  He fills the starting small forward slot for Los Angeles.

As for Williams?  well maybe he could carry Kobe's jock or if he's not worthy maybe The Machine's jock instead?

By the way, were also getting one of the original we believers Josh Powell and just for everyone who's salivating for an Asian here in the Asian rich population of the Bay Area, how about some Sun Yue?

Warriors recieve:

Lamar Odom

Josh Powell

Sun Yue

LA Lakers recieve:

Corey Maggette

Ronny Turiaf (sigh)

Marcus Williams

Obviously its a bitch to lose Turiaf but if he is what it takes to get rid of that monster of a contract Maggette possesses, so be it.  And if Lamar doesnt pan out?  well he is an expiring contract and that alone should be worth it.

Now let the flame wars begin!

Golden State Of Mind Harrington sings karaoke: "Please release me...let me go"

This is a repost from a previous fanpost that was deleted (accidentally?).   Anyway, Marcus Thompson has confirmed Tim Kawakami's report that TMNT has FORMALLY requested a trade since he can't stand Don Nelson.

We've seen this before, this happens everyday in sports, disgruntled player asks for a trade, then team with the disgruntled player well of course...gets screwed.

This only adds to the domino effect of the off season, it would be interesting on how the rest of this drama unfolds....So what if Jack doesnt get his?  would he request for a trade too?  Monta comes back 75% of his old self? what happens?  The Warriors void his contract?  Do the kids get their options picked up?

Bring back those 42.00 lower bowl seats!!!!

Golden State Of Mind UP in the rafters

Just got done reading the whole Jrich brouhaha and whoa! Anyway just to lessen the agitation and hatred amongst all of us, let me share something that I was discussing with a buddy of mine a few weeks ago.

Whose number should be next to be retired up in the rafters of Oracle?  Here's some candidates...

17 Mullin

10 Hardaway

23 Richmond

13 Marciuilonis (can u retire 13 twice?)

20 Sleepy Floyd

Don Nelson

Frank Mieuli

Jim Barnett (microphone)

Active players

5 Davis

23 Richardson

8 Ellis

15 Biedrins

Mullin should be the next one, followed by former owner Mieuli (sp?) everyone else is up for debate, especially BD.  Hopefully Monta and Biedrins would somewhat live up to their massive contracts and have a productive career with the warriors (whew that was hard to spit out).  Who's next?  anyone else?

Golden State Of Mind now what?

(let me begin this by saying that rather than signing maggette, i wouldve rather liked to see the warriors free up some more money to go further below the cap to try to sign deron williams next year (different discussion altogether on how and why)

Anyway since Mullin has decided to save face and appease the season ticket holders and gsomers (who wouldve burned him in effigy if he didnt do anything after losing baron) and stick to being a fringe 7-9 seed in the West, let us figure out who else is out there that the Warriors can get to solidify this 8th seed (hopefully).

If someone could give an estimate on how much money do we have left to sign other free agents after re signing Monta and Andris it would be helpful for this discussion.

Let's just assume for argument's sake that we have another 6-7 million to spend after the signing of Maggette (ho-hum) and Turiaf (barf), plus the impending departure of Al Harrington (maybe) for 8 mil? and also the Mid level exception who else is out there?  Here's some interesting names out there:

In no particular order:

Daniel Gibson (shooting pt guard with a horrible nickname)

Eddie House (hayward's pride CAN shoot)

Earl Boykins (gulp)

Delonte West (developing point and being funny does help)

Tyronn Lue (ugh)

Juan Dixon (combo guard)

Carl Landry (wouldve preferred this guy over Turiaf)

Shaun Livingston (buyer beware)

Ryan Gomes (undersized hardworker)

Sebastian Telfair (enigma)

Jannero Pargo (only one who had the cajones to shoot vs the spurs)

Bonzi Wells (combustible talent)

Carlos Arroyo (vet guard that can handle a press)

Keyon Dooling (TALL enough to pair with monta)

Louis Williams (monta 2.0)

James Jones (shooter nellie covets)

Anthony Johnson (big enough to pair with monta, 150 yrs old)

Brent Barry (only Barry not to play with the Ws)

Golden State Of Mind relax....dont do it

all i gotta say about signing Elton Brand, Josh Smith Andre Igoudala is this.....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyl5DlrsU90

Lets stay put, renounce every free agent we have right now, sign vets to one year minimum deals and then go for the perfect point guard to replace Baron with or without Nellie as coach.....

DERON WILLIAMS

This is the guy we should be shooting for just like how the nets are maneuvering to snag Lebron James from the Cavs.  If a season of 12-70 is the price of getting Deron, why the heck not. Im no capologist by any stretch of imagination but can they really pay Williams when they have Boozer, Okur, Kirilenko, Harpring to enormous contracts?  They also have to pay Millsap something.... What we should do is trade Utah some of our pieces to severely handcuff them thus increasing the odds of them having the cap space of re-signing Williams. Why would Williams sign with us?  Who wants to live in Utah anyway??  That alone should give us a fighting chance.

Golden State Of Mind Dont's (and a few do's) of the NBA draft

Sure, every prospect has been scrutinized, poked, questioned, analyzed, badgered like a piece of meat for sale in the wet markets of Manila by every scout. GM, coach, or every tom, dick and harry who cares enough about basketball. But still, year after year theres always those that never pans out and unfortunately for us warrior fans, it always seem to be those who get picked by those braniacs who has offices in the Oakland Alameda Arena.

With these few dos and dont's hopefully the chances of us landing the next Todd Fuller would be minimized to an absolute zero.. (sure there are exceptions but are you willing to risk it?)

- Don't draft anyone whose last name consists of more than 9 letters, cannot be spelled by an indian kid in the scripps spelling bee, or has more vowels than consonants. See: Olowokandi Michael, Podkolzkikinin Pavel, Bargnani Andrea, (a double no-no with a girls name to boot), Tsikitsvilllllli Skita, Jaskiveciicicicius, Andruiskevicicicus etc etc.

- Don't draft anyone whose name resembles that of a cartoon, (Speedy), a combination of crappy cars, (vonteego) or something derogatory (bimbo). Note: misspelled first names are ok though such as Antawn, Bryon (russell) or Jerryd.

-Keeping with the NBA marketing theme of There can only be one...........THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE KOSTA PER TEAM.

- Don't draft anyone who checks the box "white" on census forms or job application forms 1-2 or 3. See: Dunleavy Mike, Ferry Danny, Morrison Adam, Laettner Christian

- Although important, don't give too much weight on character issues, a bigger red flag should be those prospects who score 1000000000 on their SAT's or has a 4.0 GPA.  This only means one did not work on getting to the NBA but NASA. See: Fuller Todd, Foyle Adonal

-Don't draft anyone who likes to go to, or can point  to a map Bakersfield, California.  Enough Said.

- Don't draft a coach, executive, gm, or former player's kid.  More often than not, all the good basketball genes were all given to the father, and the kid only has some miniscule remnant of it.  See: Barry Kids, Ferry Danny,(again) Walton Luke, Dunleavy MIke (again!), Karl Coby. Noteable exception of course is Chokey Bryant.

- Yes you cant teach height but a stiff is a stiff is a stiff. See: O'Bryant Patrick.

- Do practice extreme caution in drafting foreign players, UNLESS its for Courtney Lee's teammate Japeth Aguilar

-Don't allow Michael Jordan to be within 100 miles of a team's draft room.

-Do trade the draft pick if for some reason Alcohol is flowing in the draft room where you have a beer guzzling coach and a recovered alcoholic for a GM.

Golden State Of Mind my next years warriors

Ok its my first post since the playoff hunt and before i get creamed here, let me remind everyone that its 2 04 am and i just had a diet coke and just watched Cherise Pempengco on you tube. Obviously her voice alone could give you a jolt that 100 cans of redbull can provide. Here I basically I traded Baron/Al + pick to chicago for hinrich, thomas and nocioni.  They can draft beasley and team him up with baron and not get any flak for passing up on local boy Rose, then I went to memphis and traded Monta, Brandan, picks and cash for Miller, Lowry and the Custodian's horrible contract, a chance for the Memphis clown/gm to redeem himself of the gift of gasol (which I advocated trading for last year and of course was met with opposition calling him INJURED, GARBAGE, OVERRATED etc.)  This composition of my warriors is obviously not championship ready but more of a transitionary team when we move to hire MARIO ELIE as the coach to suceed nellie, as opposed to Keith Smart who couldnt win with lebron. (Note: I love smart, he played with the gretaest basketball player in HUMANKIND: Ramon Fernandez of the San Miguel Beermen.) Oh and yeah, the trade machine is not working till sometime in July so zip it.

Yeah, kinda looks like W's circa 95-06.............. and crap  just realized we have 4 white boys in the starting lineup, shades of dunmurphy although i dont think we can consider Nocioni as a dunmurphy clone.

PG Kirk Hinrich (third world country/poor man's steve nash)

SG Mike Miller

SF Stephen Jackson

PF Andres Nocioni (can bang with anyone including yo mama)

C Andris Biedrins

Tyrus Thomas

Kyle Lowry (baby baron)

Brian Cardinal

Kelenna Azubuike

Gerald Green (signed as a FA; minimum salary)

Marco Belinelli

Matt Barnes

Kosta Perovic

Golden State Of Mind Thank you GSoM

Something that's always overlooked is the hardwork that the guys who run this site do game after game, season after season.  I posted this in the open thread, but felt the need to make a diary of this, just to properly acknowledge all of you.

Thank you for having this site as a venue for rabid W fans like me to interact and share the same tears, happiness, interesting banter etc with each other.  I also would like to apologize for any and all of the garbage I post in here

See you guys at the draft lottery.  Its been a wild ride these past 2 seasons.

Golden State Of Mind "Ask not what your.....

country can do for you but what you can do for your country..."

-John F. Kennedy
 35th President and Warrior Fan

(5pm start time, another slap on the face of our Warriors.  Utter disrespect.  Why cant they ask the LA game to start early instead?  The biggest regular season game in history, relegated to be the primer for the Staples game?)

As JFK's, famous line goes and with this 5pm start time, it makes me wonder what everybody had to go through to get home or be in the Oracle in time.  The Warriors are (hopefully) going to give it their all, leave it all on the line.  Thats what they are doing for our country, what are you gonna do?

I work till 8pm, 9 the latest, and today I just had to be home, I don't think I would miss this for the world.  This is one of the busiest times at my work but I told my boss my son got into a fight in school and the principal needed to see me.  Lied, sacrificed my daily wage just to be home on time.

DO IT WARRIORS!!!!

Golden State Of Mind Ws catch a break?

Hey there Warrior fans...here's something to prolong our agony, or what we Ws fans are familiar with....."THE TEASE"

Here's a link

http://sports.inquirer.net/breakingnews/breakingnews/view/20080404-128298/NBA-suspends-Denvers-Marti n-for-blow-to-Diaws-face

hey maybe Denver would lose a game....Imma stretch my legs though to get the bandwagoners off it.

Golden State Of Mind Chicken Curry anyone?

Ok stanford lost....we all know that was coming it was only a matter of when...BUT STEPHEN CURRY??

All warrior fans know what we need: KEVIN FREAKIN LOVE! (ok only Iggy thinks so but hey he is a warrior fan right?) but how can we discount the talent, savvy and IQ Dell Curry's kid possesses.  I mean 4 games?  this is not a POB fluke, this is for real.

Now the question is...DO WE NEED HIM? CAN WE USE HIM? WILL WE DRAFT HIM?  It is within the realm of possibility that he might be available during our turn, and if that comes will we step up and snag him?

I see him as a Monta with range and for that reason alone...I THINK WE SHOULD GET HIM.  I always believe in drafting the Best Available Player as opposed to need.

your turn

here's the link

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/03/10/SPKFVHCB3.DTL

Has POB played his last game as a Warrior?  Also, is he the longest tenured NBA player to be sent back to the NBDL??

As much as I wanted him to succeed (along with many of you I'm sure) last weeks' games ddnt help him at all. Hopefully Kosta can provide a lil more oomph than whatever POB was giving us.

Goodluck POB....see you around

Golden State Of Mind I BELIEVE....they should too....

No, not our Warriors.  I mean with the Warriors shocking the world last year It's expected of them to give us an encore right? Theyre expected to make the playoffs...(lol!!!)...Besides the WE BELEIVE movement is sooooo last year, we need something new and better than "WERE BACK".

The WE BELIEVE movement should happen to.....

The CHARLOTTE BOBCATS.
the team with numerous warriors connections:

ROD HIGGINS
JASON RICHARDSON
JEMAREO DAVIDSON
EARL BOYKINS
asst.coach PAUL MOKESKI

Some guy needs to start wearing a shirt in the bobcats arena and start this movement just like what happened last year.  I remember it was a lil past around the same time last year when Don Nelson basically said the season was over yet our boys managed to pull it out and of course the rest is history.

With their win tonight against the Wiz, the bobcats just notched their 5th straight victory, a franchise high.  Looking at the standings, even with a dismal 24-39 record, they are only 21/2 games out of the playoffs.  If we did it last year 9 games under .500 to have a final record of 42-40, with the weak east, they probably just need to win 11 TO 13 out of their last  19 games to make it.  Daunting yes, but very possible.  35-37 WINS MIGHT JUST DO IT.

In rhis process, this is where we come in, the Cats are playing a road heavy schedule that includes the MAVS and the ROCKETS!!!  A triple win if you may (if they win of course) 1. helps our cause 2. helps the CATS 3. helps J RICH.  With the unforgettable experience Jrich had last year lets hope he can channel that to elevate his game into superstar status and carry his team to the playoffs.

So lets root for the CATS a lil more extra than we have ever been, maybe the next time we meet em, we get good karma and JRICH would revert back to his 10 point output.

LETS GO CATS..I BELIEVE

Golden State Of Mind Revisiting Monta's draft class

Looking at the 2005 draft class, there is no doubt in my mind that if it could be done all over again Monta wouldnt last till the 5th pick of the draft.  Proves that the draft is such an inexact science.  Few of the first rounders that year are already out of the league,(12th pick Korolev) or most have been traded numerous times (Gerald Green) or riding pine (our very own Ike Diogu).

revised draft based on talent alone. Team need or structure no bearing (parenthesis in order picked during the 05 draft)

Paul (picked 4th)
D. Williams (3rd)
Bynum (10th)
Ellis (38th)
Bogut (1st)
Lee  (30th)
Granger (17th)
Felton  (5th)
M. Williams (2nd)
Webster (6th)
Kleiza (27th)
Warrick (19th)
McCants (14th)
Maxiell (26th)
Robinson (21st)

Other notables: Gomes, Garcia, Jack, Turiaf, Head, Villanueva, Louis Williams, Blatche, Frye (8th), Antoine Wright, Sean May

How would you re draft this class?

Golden State Of Mind I heart BUCKS! Scoreboard watching

You gotta love the bucks..coming back from a 23 point lead to beat the Denver Nuggets to propel us back into the 8th place, while we are licking our wounds from the Atlanta debacle.  Whats better than that?

I cant believe that the Bucks' record is what it is.  They have a decent lineup and theyre in the East for criminey's sake.

Williams
Redd
Villanueva
Yi
Bogut
Mason
Bell

decent 7 man rotation right there...

Hopefully a few more losses by DEN/DAL/HOU and by Tuesday WE CAN BUILD ON A 6-7 GAME WINNING STREAK!

Golden State Of Mind What's the point?

Ok the trade deadline is over...we did not do any moves...SO WHATS THE POINT IN PLAYING MICKAEL PIETRUS?? He wants to go anyway! We don't need to showcase him or dupe other teams into thinking he is worth anything.  With last night's revealing play of Brandan Wright it is imperative that Nellie plays him, making the playoffs be damned.

If we do miss the playoffs at least it would be a nice consolation to at least see what Wright, OBryant, Perovic and Bellinelli can do! I mean Carl Landry is getting some PT in Houston who is in the thick of the playoff race.  Is Landry that much better than Brandan Wright?

P.S. Hopefully with us being idle, we can gain some spots over Denver, Houston, Dallas et al.

Golden State Of Mind LETS PLAY: "Who ddnt vote for Baron in the All-star game!"

8th place..no representative in the All star game besides Thunder and perhaps our Warrior girls.  Whos fault? ours! because we didnt vote enough to get Baron to the big easy.  Who else?  the west coaches.  There are no exit polls so we really wont know what happened and who voted for who.  So in the spirit of Super Tuesday, lets see who among these coaches ddnt vote for Baron  (and Jax for that matter) and who the W's need to anhilate once they face their teams.

Byron Scott - NO (we all know why)
Nate Mcmillan - NO (Roy's coach; see interview)
George Karl - NO (history with Davis)
Greg Popovich - YES (buddies with Nelly; knows talent)
Avery Johnson - Probably NOT (still pissed with the loss last year?  Cuban probably also said not to vote for any Warrior.
Phil Jackson - Probably YES
Marc Iavaroni - Probably YES (although i'm inclined to think he wouldve voted for Phoenix players like Marion.)
Jerry Sloan - 50/50 (hes got a bubble guy in Williams)
Mike Dunleavy - Probably NO (wouldnt help a team that boos his precious son)
PJ Carlesimo - see above (although Pop might have talked him into voting for Baron.)
Reggie Theus - Probably YES (Id like to think since hes a new head coach, and came up from out of nowhere and a former player he'd know an allstar when he sees one.
Rick Adelman - Probably NO (still pissed at W's?)
Randy Wittman - Probably YES (beat them three times)

I know its all speculation but with a non-unanimous vote its easy to see how Baron didnt make it to the all star team. What do you guys think? And just a thought: If Baron gets selected as a replacement (when someone gets injured in the next few days, should he go or should he decline (if he can)?

Golden State Of Mind Would you lose Monta for Mike Miller?

No Warriors game till thursday, all sports talk is about the superbowl, so what better time to start another TRADE DIARY! Yipeee!!

Note: I am one of millions who proposed a Pau Gasol trade.  I guess it wasnt lopsided enough than the lakers offer.  I mean cmon now, Memphis coudnt even get the lakers to eat the Custodian's contract??

Memphis is rebuilding....seriously, and with reports that Memphis are going to go after Monta this off season, might as well trade him to the Grizz than losing him for nothing.  They have a glut of PG's and are still looking to shed some salary.

Seattle is another team going nowhere. Ridnour is turning out to be a bust, and West is not a point guard.  They also need to trim salary to rebuild.

And with that I present this trade:

Warriors get:

Mike Miller
Damian Wilkins
Chris Wilcox

Seattle get:

Kyle Lowry
Al Harrington
Cash (Which they need)
2nd rd pick from GSW

Memphis get:

Monta Ellis
Patrick O Bryant
Austin Croshere
Mickael Pietrus

Basically Memphis gets a bunch of expiring contracts and a superstar in the making in Monta,(Conley, Monta, Gay 1-2-3 punch, perfect for Iavaroni's system) Seattle gets to get rid of Wilkins contract, a young PG in Lowry, swap Wilcox with a shooter like Al Harrington, and we get to have Miller to compliment our play makers, Wilcox for rebounding, Wilkins to replace Pietrus, (and Barnes next year)

Our lineup:

Biedrins
Wilcox
Jackson
Miller
Davis

Webber
Barnes
Wilkins
Azubuike
Watson

Perovic
Wright
Bellineli

Let the games begin!!! (yes this works in the trade machine)

Golden State Of Mind Another stupid trade scenario

let me start off by saying after 13 or so years of losing, last year and this year's early success has made me happy, ecstatic and contented.  For how long? I really don't know.  I do know that with the current lineup unless all the stars in the night align perfectly, there is no chance in hell we would win a championship this year or the next.

I shouldnt complain heck I even said last year that if we get swept in the playoffs I would be happy, I just wanted to see our warriors play 86 games instead of the 82.

Since KG is now in Boston, (and we all know what happened there) How bout snagging another low post threat, a sure 18 and 12 bonafide all-star Pau Gasol.

How do we do that?  Heres how according to ESPN's trade machine:
(note: I also dont know how that trade exception works)
We get:

GASOL
NAVARRO
KINSEY

They get:

HARRINGTON (hmmmm)
ELLIS (whoa!)
BIEDRINS (what are u smoking vonteego?)

It might seem crazy at first but if you really look at it, this makes a lot of sense (to me at least).  Obviously, we get Gasol and his low post talents, then we secure a reliable back up point in Navarro and another hustle guy in Kinsey.  With Gasol, we have someone to go to when teams go to the zone defense instead of that ugly play where Baron goes to the middle and no one else seems to know what to do.

Ok why would Memphis do this?  THEY WANT TO BE THE PHOENIX SUNS!!  Lowry, Ellis, Miller, Gay and Biedrins with Harrington, Warrick, Swift, Damon off the bench, that sounds like a poor man's PHOENIX to me. And getting rid of Ellis will make OZ's christmas a little bit more merry!

Great to be back!

Now let me go back to what I was doing earlier...

P.S. to me the best move the warriors can make is to not make a move at all.

Golden State Of Mind Leave it to a woman to put things in perspective

So my wife walks in the door from school tonight and finds me slumped in our couch..

her: "warriors lost huh?"

me: "yeah, putang inang pietrus, so stupid. I'm pissed."

her: "so you're not gonna eat?"

me: "ummm...no!..diet coke and cigarettes I guess"

her: (and these are exactly her words) "look here, I'm not upset that the Warriors lost, honestly I don't care anymore.  They beat dallas, and thats an achievement in itself.  Do you really think they'll win the championship this year?  They have to work on it.  Playoffs yeah? But championship?" (then she gives me a hug and....cue porn music)

her: go open a can of sardines and there's some rice in the rice cooker.  eat something, I'm sure Baron's eating something right now.

Arent women awesome?

Lets go warriors!

Golden State Of Mind We just might see...

another starting lineup change for the Warriors.  Seems like a trend after a loss.  I'd say go for the Biedrins at 5 Harrington at 4 Jackson at 3 Jrich at 2 and Baron at pg.  This should help our rebounding woes. (hopefully)  We couldnt run because we couldnt get the rebound.

P.S. Note to Mully : Get a rebounding big man in the offseason. (even if it makes us lose both Pietrus and Barnes.) Varejao are you listening?

Golden State Of Mind Deconstructing the Mavs

We just pulled off the greatest upset in the history of professional sports.....Now as we celebrate our win and wait for our next opponent, let's all try to play GM and help the Mavs figure out what the heck is wrong with their team.

  • Their best 2 players are both wing players. None of these two have any decent post game.  I don't think Howard and Nowitzki should be on the same team.  Howard is Nowitzki that can penetrate and Nowitzki is Howard with a better jump shot. Trade either of them for a low post threat, Jermaine o Neal or Kevin Garnett.  Either of these guys on the block and Nowitzki or Howard on the wings.  Now that's a "real" 67 win team.
  • Hand the reins over to Devin Harris.  Look I hate this bastard but he's got a brighter future ahead of him than Jason Terry.  He can run a team better than Terry can.  Ship Terry to a team that needs a point guard for an athletic swingman that they can use.  Maybe they can use a J.R. Smith from Denver (for a lack of a better example)
  • They just do everything good enough.  What do I mean?  Theyre the wrong kind of versatile team.  They do not dominate as a running team, a shooting team, a defensive team, or whatever.  They need to have a specific identity, and stick to it.  IMO they are better suited to be a half court set offensive team than the jack of all trades master of none style.
  • Develop young players and get rid of the old dead weight.  Signing Kevin Willis? what an insult to the hardworking Dleaguers out there.  Buckner? Croshere? George? Dampier? I don't know the contract status of any of these guys but they have to move them for some athletes.  While they were winning 67 games, they couldve used Ager a little bit more, an athletic rookie with some game.
  • Starting Lineup:

    Diop
    O'Neal or Garnett
    Howard or Nowitzki
    Shooting Guard via trade
    Harris

    bench:
    Stackhouse
    Ager
    Dampier
    veteran PG (Mo Williams?)
    Pietrus (via free agency)
    Draft Pick

    Lets go Warriors!!! I BELIEVED!

Golden State Of Mind Here's one to make u smile...

Now GSOM folks..help me...I dont know how to do links and stuff but here's one from the playoff blog of San Francisco Chronicle's Janny Hu. If anyone would be kind ebough to fix it for me I would appreciate it...

    here's the link: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/warriors/index?

    read on folks...

    From Janny Hu in Dallas.

Make sure you watch TNT tonight for the latest in Charles Barkley's mini-war with the Warriors/Bay Area. Stephen Jackson just raised the bar during shootaround this morning, and we mean RAISED. After a little brainstorming with Baron Davis and Matt Barnes, Jackson hammed it up for the cameras and delivered this beauty at the Chuckster, who stars with Dwyane Wade in the popular T-Mobile Fave Five commercials.

    Says Jackson:

"D-Wade, I hope you're watching. The reason why you can't get in Chuck's five is because his five is full. I did some investigating, and I figured out ...

"You got five people in front of you: McDonald's, Dominos, Burger King, it was Subway, but he pushed them out for Cinnabon, and Krispy Kreme.

"So D-Wade, I mean, if you open a restaurant, maybe you can get in his top five. But until then, just keep shooting those commercials. Hopefully you can slide in there, but Chuck's a big eater."

    Classic, classic stuff.

My apologies to the GSOM staff and SF Chronicle

Golden State Of Mind dunno about you fellas but

why am i not as upset as it seems everyone on this board is????

is there something wrong with me or??

    im happy because...

    we have a split?
we dont necessarily have to play the perfect game to beat them?
we were due for a loss?
were going home in what is promising to be the loudest arena in NBA history?
we are an 8th seed for crying out loud?
did you honestly expect we can sweep the mavs?
all i wanted was a playoff birth in the first place?

relax people...for whatever its worth this game just gave us some breathing room from all these fans jumping in our bandwagon.... GET OFF ME!!!

Golden State Of Mind Hey Avery here's some game planning for you...

We've exhausted all the reasons why our Warriors will kick some Texas a** in numerous diaries over the past days.  Ever wonder what theyre thinking on the other side?  Let's be Avery Johnson and his phalanx of assistant coaches and try to beat the 16-5, 9-1, hottest team in the NBA, our GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS.

    1.  Change them unis and put on purple and gold.  Maybe even change the team name and logo to something that closely resembles the word FAKERS?  The Warriors are what the Lakers are to us.  We just can't seem to beat the Lakers and the Mavs just cant get over us.  It's what my gambling, drunk, goat-eating, goes to the jungles of Vallejo to cockfight,  uncle calls "KONTRA-PELO".  Its that cosmic, voodoo mumbo jumbo karma that we have over the Mavs and the Lakers have over us. There's no explanation to this, but it's a fact.
    2.  Post the hell up out of Dirk Nowitzki.  Ok, so Jax can bother the heck out of Nowitzki we know that, causing Dirk to take 15 feet fade away, turning  jump shots.  But what if Dirk is down the block?  He's tall enough to shoot over Jax, and creative enough to pass to cutters.  All Avery's got to do is tell Hassellhoff to be a little patient and bang a little bit on the block.  I'll take a contested 5 footer over a contested 15 footer anytime of the day.
    3.  Abuse Monta.  Run a million screens so Monta ends up guarding Josh Howard since the W's switch everything.  Do not allow Nellie to hide Monta all game long.  Kinda like how Nellie did it to Steve Nash the last time we played the Suns.  Monta guarding a 6-7 all-star.  Who do you think has the advantage.
3.a. Abuse Monta again, this time by making him uncomfortable in the backcourt.  Greg Buckner and Devean George?  these guys are useless.  Devin Harris will have the biggest impact defensively for the Mavs.  If he can bother Monta into some of his stupid careless turnovers, our boy Monta's confidence will be shot, and will lead to easy baskets for the Mavs.
    1.  Get Al Harrington into foul trouble.  How many "centers" do the Warriors have? Umm...2?  Unless of course it gets to garbage time and we get to see Zorgon's boy Adonal Foyle.  Drive the ball to the hole, fish for some fouls.  Dallas is a primadonna, prissy, superstar team that referees give too much respect.  Even that guy who used to work at Taco Bell can get calls from the refs. You do this, you get free throws and force Nellie to play a conventional lineup, something I'm sure you Mavs would like.
    2.  Harass the inbound pass.  Avery oughta have somebody to bother the inbounds pass to prevent leak outs and easy baskets of the Warriors.  The Warriors have been very proficient in scoring after a made basket.  Use Dampier's slow a** to put a hand up on the inbounds pass since he wont be able to run downcourt anyways.
    3. Darn it, just be the MAVS!  You don't need any help, you guys won 67 games for crying out loud.  Just put on your unis, lace up your sneakers and give us Warriors the best butt kicking and dressing down since Alec Baldwin called her daughter a "pig".  As Nellie has said, we are just a pimple in your butt.
But of course, none of these will happen because Avery is an egomaniac and will refuse to adjust to Nellie.  They'll be busy playing their gameplan and be stubborn enough to stick to whatever they have since those three Mavs losses are "insignificant" anyway.  He'd rather lose his way than to adjust to Nellie.  This dude wants to prove that his crap is better than Nellie's junk.  So yeah Avery, just do what you do, play how you play the Warriors, but don't ever cry "foul" when you see Al Harrington brings the ball up as Nellie's point-center.  You've been warned little general.
